Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

@FlapJackered I wouldn’t tell her, let her have her moment and tell everyone when you were planning on doing it anyway. If you tell them off the back of her telling everyone she might be spiteful about you “stealing her thunder”!

I bought a 2 pack of digi tests at the weekend and did one on Sunday evening (half an hour after I had last been to the loo) and got 2-3 weeks (which was correct). Did another one this morning and have a reading of 3+ weeks so feel a bit more reassured that everything in going the way it should.

I still feel like I’m PUPO I think I probably will until 12 weeks, I’m so anxious, sad and on edge. It doesn’t help that my 3 year old is being a complete turd at the moment and pushing my buttons constantly!

Sorry @lls1990 didn’t see your message above, did you get a beta done or just home test? Maybe try a digital as it is a little more specific (but apparently not always entirely accurate as with them all)

BambiOnIce80 · 26/02/2020 07:46

You aren't worrying anything away @lls1990 (men! 😕), but I can understand the worry. Definitely phone your clinic when they open. There is another possibility for the faint line though (not trying to give you false hope, just facts for another possible explanation). If your hCG is crazy high (because you're having twins or triplets!) then you get something called the Hook effect. It basically means that the hCG is so high that it swamps the test and it can't function as it should and you get a false BFN. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🤞🤞

You're SIL sounds like a delight @FlapJackered 😏 Not dissimilar to my XSIL (one of the perks to getting divorced! 😜), so I think I would take great pleasure in keeping my pregnancy to myself until after the 12 week scan with someone like that. You can easily explain it away as saying that because it's an IVF pregnancy you were being very cautious until the 7 and 12 week viability scans were out of the way? Don't really see how she could take umbridge with that... well, she can, but she'll look like a selfish bee-atch for doing so! 👌

Glad you're feeling some reassurance from the digi's @DobbieFreeElf 😊 I've found that I've relaxed a bit since seeing the heartbeat on the 7 week scan. When have you got yours?x

@BambiOnIce80 @DobbieFreeElf @rainbow178 I am glad you have said that as I was thinking the same, DH was more pro telling her. 😬

@BambiOnIce80 we were thinking we wouldn't tell her that it was IvF she would probably say we shouldn't have done ivf and it's unnatural etc to other people and use it to get to us. She is really not a very nice person. It all stems from a lot of anxiety and need to be the best. It is sad as my DSis is also pregnant and it is so lovely going through it with her and knowing our babies will grow up together, but it is the opposite with SIL as I know once the baby arrives she will spend all our time together putting me down and telling me I am doing everything wrong. Not fun! Good thing we don't live near to them!
Sorry for the rant!

@DobbieFreeElf hurrah for the 3+! Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit low. The anxiety definitely lessens after the 7 week scan. When is yours booked for?

@lls1990 I know how worrying it can be, hopefully your clinic can do a blood test and reassure you. X

Viletta · 26/02/2020 09:30

@lls1990 you definitely can't harm it by worrying, was it the same type of test that you used previously? See what your clinic says, maybe it's worth getting a blood hcg test or test again with another HPT? Maybe you got a faulty one?

BambiOnIce80 · 26/02/2020 10:26

If SIL is the kind of person who would say that IVF is unnatural and be judgy, then I don't think I would get on with her/want to be in her company at all @FlapJackered! 😡 People who don't do IVF also frequently don't tell anyone before the 12 week scan, just because they want to make sure everything is OK. One of my IRL friends didn't tell anyone until after her 20 week scan because she was so anxious about abnormalities and she had a natural conception! You certainly don't need to explain yourself to her, whatever/whenever you choose to tell her!x

Thinking of you @Chooklass 💓

Monday 9th @FlapJackered and @BambiOnIce80 it seems further away today than it did yesterday if that is at all possible. I think you're right, if the measurement and heartbeat are ok at that scan I may feel a little better. I have also told my DH that if that one is ok I will be booking a private one for 10 weeks ish! But we'll see how I feel then!

Lily999 · 26/02/2020 10:57

@FlapJackered sounds like your SIL's best feature is that she lives far away... I have to agree with the others, would also keep it from her until the 12week scan. IT's so great that you and your sister are pregnant at the same time! It was our dream as well, but she has 3 kids and the youngest is almost 3 so that ship has sailed, but hey, will have free babysitting service at least :)

@lls1990 hope everything is ok, how far long are you today? Could maybe try and not drink, then do another HPT later on today?

@Chooklass here comes the refreshing part of the day, looking forward to seeing the lovely picture from you later on!

@Bambionice80, the movie was great last night, at first it's quite difficult to distract yourself from the fact that it's not a real dog (being animated), but once the story evolves you just get used to it. Cried quite a lot as expected, but it was a very nice evening. On our way back DH was already checking out a Bernese mountain dog that's for sale :)

@DobbieFreeElf congrats on the 3+, how many weeks are you at now? Sorry, it's difficult to keep track..

Chooklass · 26/02/2020 11:14

Scan went well! All looking perfect 🥰. Will post pic later - I swear it looks like a roast chicken! Xxx

Lily999 · 26/02/2020 11:25

Oh, that's wonderful news @chooklass, so happy for you!! Who is next up for a scan? Is it @QuantumGirl and @twinkleyes35?

Viletta · 26/02/2020 11:35

@Chooklass congratulations on your little roast chicken 😂 I think mine looked like a little chicken too

DobbieFreeElf · 26/02/2020 12:01

@Chooklass congrats on the mini chook!

@Lily999 5+2 so pretty bang on I'd say :-)

BambiOnIce80 · 26/02/2020 12:04

Soooooo glad all is perfect in there @Chooklass 😍 Of course yours was always going to look like a roast chicken! 🐔🍗😂 I think mine had more than a passing resemblance to a seahorse 🤔🌊 🐴 😁

I didn’t need a full bladder by the way! Nurse said only for abdominal scans 🤷‍♀️! Was so relieved as I was bursting 😂

Measuring 7 or 7+2 depending on angle. They found it difficult to get a good pic but we saw heart beating - amazing! EDD 15th Oct 🥳. The staff seemed so happy for us, it was really lovely.

We were told there’s a 95% chance of success now that we’ve seen heartbeat at 7 weeks. I remember crying on the day of my 3dt because the stats said 15% chance of success for us then. We feel incredibly lucky! 🥰

@lls1990 I’m sure everything is fine, I felt the same over the past few days & did another test this morning & it came back positive again, my original test from the clinic was so faint I was worried but all others ok, try to relax but you could get a digital or try for a blood test?

@FlapJackered I totally agree with others I would wait til after 12 weeks, let her have this time then you can tell ppl & let her work out the timings & could just say “well we preferred to wait until 12 weeks & didn’t want to take your limelight after you had just announced” that way it sounds a lot nicer than it sounds like she will be 🙄

@Chooklass how lovely is that 🥰 amazing congratulations again! What a lovely roast chicken 🐥so you calling yours chicken then 🐣or chick? ❤️

rainbow178 · 26/02/2020 13:46

@Chooklass that is such good news, congrats! Interesting what you said about 95% chance- that makes me feel better. I was dreading the early scan because I thought well after it, I'll just be dreading the 12 week scan! I feel like I just can't relax at the moment due to feeling in limbo. Hopefully the early scan will put my mind at rest a bit!
I agree, I can see a chicken!!

twinkleyes35 · 26/02/2020 13:53

Wow congratulations 🥳 🤩@Chooklass this gorgeous and it's measuring perfect. I think we both had same due date.... did yours changed after today's scan or you initially calculated 15th Oct ?

@Lily999 my scan is on the 2nd at 2 pm I will be completing exactly 8 weeks then so will be fun to see what they calculate. Mike is internal scan too and need empty bladder which good one less thing to worry about 😜🤞.

Not been really active on MN as most days I am just tired / fatigue and nauseous so don't feel like doing much. I am just sleeping most of the time x 😴

Chooklass · 26/02/2020 13:57

@twinkleyes35 I'd originally though 14th Oct, so pretty close! Not long until yours! x

Chooklass · 26/02/2020 14:04

@rainbow178 Yes! I was surprised the risk was so much lower now too, though reading a bit online suggests that's an average and doesn't take my age into account. I think my risk will still be a bit higher than average at 38? Anyway, I'm not thinking about that just now!

Lily999 · 26/02/2020 14:34

Very pretty little chick @chooklass, well done you :) Will you tell at work now?

I think @twinkleyes35 that you are the next on in line for a scan whoop whoop! Then @QuantumGirl is on the 3rd and I am on the 5th, so next week will be busy! Following that @DobbieFreeElf is on the 9th and @rainbow178 on the 10th, these are the dates for people on this thread before I joined as on the day I joined I read through the entire thread in one go nerd alert :)

This morning hit the 6weeks mark and was thinking wow, I am halfway there to 12weeks, it doesn't seem that long... But then realised I have only had my BFP on the 14th, so really I am not even 2weeks in if you consider the real "being pregnant" part, it's tricky!

Chooklass · 26/02/2020 14:48

Thanks @Lily999! My boss is back next week and I’ll have to tell him then. Work tasks that I shouldn’t do are starting to pile up! (Heavy lifting, ladders, radiation ... not ideal!)x

DobbieFreeElf · 26/02/2020 16:09

Yeah, don’t go playing with radiation @chooklass or you might really have a chicken!! 🤪

I’ve done something stupid and left for DS’s swimming lesson and forgotten to take my afternoon progesterone. By the time we get home it will be 2 hours late (I usually take it at 7.30am, 3.30pm and bedtime) considering ditching the swimming lesson and driving home to get the medication, someone tell me that’s ridiculous and taking it a little late won’t have an immediate negative impact???

Lily999 · 26/02/2020 16:21

@Dobbiefreeelf please don't worry according to the docs I've got "it takes several days for the progesterone to leave you system".

Chooklass · 26/02/2020 16:27

Yes @DobbieFreeElf - don’t worry, your progesterone can’t drop that fast xx

DobbieFreeElf · 26/02/2020 16:28

Thanks @Lily999 I’m such a rational person normally but the littlest things throw me off at the moment!
