Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

It is indeed internal @Chooklass and I went for about 500ml an hour before the appointment (thank god I didn't neck a litre because they were running 30 minutes late! 💦 😳). They should be able to tell you your EDD too (which makes it all very real! 🤩). I had that nice Dr (Maya, I think she's called 🤔) and I told her I was equally excited and terrified going in and she was really good - said "I might be quiet for a couple of minutes whilst I orientate myself, but that doesn't mean anything bad" which helped a lot! 😪 Then they give you a piece of paper with your EDD on it and details of delivery to hand back in afterwards (seems a flipping long way off!). They say it's nice to return it as we're leaving the postnatal ward because they like to see the baby too, which I thought was quite sweet ☺️ What time is your appointment? And our relationship dynamic sounds the same as yours - I commute, so DP does all the cooking and (half-arsedly!) the cleaning. I'm knackered too when I get home now, so I really do appreciate it 😊

You'll have to let us know whether the film is worth a watch or not @Lily999 🎞️ I'm the same with anything with a dog in... I still fill-up just thinking about Samantha the Alsatian in 'I am Legend'!! 🐶🧟‍♂️😭

For me it's Hachiko, the Akita and Marley from Marley & me :) Will let you know tomorrow, at the moment I feel like the most likely scenario is that I fall asleep as I can barely keep my eyes open, the progesterone is taking over my life!

Chooklass · 25/02/2020 16:26

@BambiOnIce80 thanks!! 😘 I know the one - she’s a lovely doctor! Scan at 10, so won’t have to wait about all day.

I totally get emotional about anything with animals, even before pregnant so I get that @Lily999! I cried at the weekend because I found a dead bird on the beach with string tangled round it and I saw all the live birds and felt so sad that they weren’t aware of all the dangers in the sea 😭😭😭. And, bloody hell, one of my friends recommended ‘Don’t F**k With Cats’ on Netflix because I like detective stuff ... girls - don’t watch that!! 😱😭😱😭

Wimbledon1 · 25/02/2020 17:16

I have heard of this "don't f*ck with cats"! I take it it's not a nice fluffy kitten story then?! 😂

Good luck tomorrow @Chooklass - I was given similar advice about having a semi full bladder.

Also that post below reminded me about the worst bit of my quite underwhelming scan experience....when they'd been in there exploring around for a while (and it does take a while to locate) he popped out with the question "you've got two embryos frozen, right?" Firstly) no I was told I have four so please tell me you've not lost two embryos!! Secondly) that is not a helpful thing to say to someone who is on tenterhooks to hear whether their BFP was a mistake. 🤦🏻‍♀️ He did realise a little while after he said it, and said the question wasn't prompted by the scan, but c'mon buddy!!

BambiOnIce80 · 25/02/2020 18:01

OMFG @Chooklass , too late on the 'don't f🤬k with cats' front! 😭🙀😭🙀 DP was keen to watch it, not knowing the premise, so we watched it during our TWW. I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing (although I made him fast forward through those bits so we didn't have to watch! ⏩) and given that we've got a 10 month old kitten, you can imagine the state I was in! 🥺

Bloody hell @Wimbledon1 your doc really did suck at the first scan, didn't he?! 😕 And sorry to hear that your first symptoms were scary ones! 💐 I've been a bit light headed this afternoon and did at one point think "pleasepleaseplease don't faint! 😰", but it was thankfully only fleeting 😪 Just out of interest on the funny vision front, do you suffer from migraines at all? Sounds very similar to the focal migraines that I used to get 🤔

Oooh, and @Lily999 - I'm 8 weeks today and flo reckons il bambino should be the size of a kidney bean, whereas MN has gone with comparing it to a small raspberry! 🍓 closest there was to a raspberry!

Viletta · 25/02/2020 18:29

@Chooklass mine was external, I had 600ml of water about an hour before and it was fine. I don't think you need full bladder for internal scan though. Let us know which one it was. 😊

rainbow178 · 25/02/2020 18:40

I asked last week and they said empty bladder to me for internal scan- like the follicle/lining scans!? How weird weve all had different advice. We are just starting season 2 of YOU on Netflix which is quite good for distracting the mind!

2 weeks today 😀

Littlelot · 25/02/2020 18:51

Can I just post my newest irrational fear - not sure if it is actually rational or not. My school had ski trip to northern Italy last week. All teachers and kids in school yesterday and this morn. Come lunchtime all trip teachers have been advised to go home and self isolate due to having coughs and colds. Loads of kids sent home. And my closest work colleague who came in yesterday but not today has been sent to local hospital to be tested for the virus due to flu symptoms. Definitely spent more than 15mins yesterday less than 2m from her. Anyhow she’s been tested but won’t get the results until Saturday/Monday. School is going to be crazy with at least 9 members of staff out never mind regular illnesses/absences. Not really sure if I’m rational to feel paranoid about this but also surprised that given she is a teacher and schools are a nightmare for germ spreading that they don’t push tests through quicker.

Sorry mini rant but husband will think I’m being overly dramatic for ranting in real life. Especially when really it is unlikely that they actually have the virus as opposed to any normal illness.

Viletta · 25/02/2020 19:05

@Littlelot I had a colleague today who returned from North Italy and was sent back home for 2w self-quarantine. I think bottom line the risk is very low and for adults with no respiratory issues it's not more dangerous than flu from what I gathered.

Chooklass · 25/02/2020 19:30

The actual virus doesn’t seem to be more dangerous than flu, the problem is that nobody has any immunity to COVID-19, whereas lots of people (like me) have had flu jab. So it will infect more people. I am becoming more anxious about it, I think because this is the first time I’ve been in an ‘at risk’ group.

That must be unsettling @Littlelot but I’m sure the authorities are just being (rightfully) overly cautious for now until they figure out what’s going on. I think the risk is still very low in UK xx

Viletta · 25/02/2020 20:22

I was wondering what symptoms you've got on week 8? I keep having sore boobs, no sickness, I do feel my uterus and it feels different from af cramps. It's mild twitches right in the middle and generally feeling it all the time. Probably it's stretching now. How about you?

Chooklass · 25/02/2020 20:41

My boob soreness comes and goes. This morning they were not sore at all, but tonight they are really tender again!

Littlelot · 25/02/2020 20:57

Thank you for the reality check! I think as @Chooklas says it was unsettling being an at risk group when my friend hit enough criteria to warrant testing as opposed to just self isolating. But wobble over - just loads of cover lessons to look forward too!

@VilettaMy symptoms at 8weeks are pretty consistent with what they’ve been for a few weeks now... lots of nausea especially if I don’t eat regularly (I’m sneaking an oatcake between lessons to keep me going), sore boobs also think they have grown! And tiredness although this isn’t too bad really. Maybe a bit scatterbrained - sometimes just saying the wrong word or name (again brilliant as a teacher when you suddenly seem to have forgotten the name of kids you’ve been teaching for ages). I wouldn’t say anything is noticeably worse now I’ve hit 8 weeks though.

Minster2012 · 25/02/2020 21:04

Oooo we’ve watched “dont f with cats” too on someone’s recommendations and I have to say I like it in a horrified way I had to find out the end 😬I too watched it whilst ok the hormones (the down regulating phase over Xmas) & was like “well that was a joy”

We watched the joker too on valentines night & that’s not exactly a barrel of laughs! 🙈

I’ve been watching someone else’s recommendation of the wonderful/marvellous Mrs maisel then I want to move onto The Stranger

I don’t feel any different at all, which is good, but I feel the need to POAS again tomorrow to check... we’ve been discussing when we might go away on hol this year & ive got to try to get DS into his nursery for another day a week (though they may not be able to do this it has a long list 😥) & DH was like “how do you feel?” Er... no different really. Good & bad that is 🤣

Minster2012 · 25/02/2020 21:10

Also I’ve just got my “pregnancy notes” booklet through for my booking in appointment (which isn’t until 19th March) so that makes it feel real even if my body doesn’t!! 😂something else to hide (& not lose!)

BambiOnIce80 · 25/02/2020 21:50

I think I know what you mean about the weird possibly uterus stretching thing @Viletta! I've noticed the last couple of nights when I'm sitting up in bed reading that I can feel an almost 'pushing' sensation, I'm guessing against my muscles or ligaments or something? 🤔 It was quite unexpected and a little bit freaky! 😳 But I read that at this stage our uterus has doubled in size, so I guess it makes sense that we'd feel a bit of pushing/pulling 👍

We had the 10am slot as well @Chooklass 😄 And it's definitely about 500ml before the appointment for us (they told me when they gave me the appointment and I wrote it down) and nice Dr Maya congratulated me on having a "nicely full bladder" that made it easier for her to get orientated 💦😁 I'll be constantly refreshing this thread from about 11am tomorrow 😉

That is a little worrying @Littlelot but , they're definitely better to be safe than sorry 🤞 I think the system is absolutely swamped with requests for the test at the moment and it isn't the kind of thing that you just pop on an machine and get a result 30 seconds later, unfortunately 😔 Will your colleague let you know ASAP when they get their result through?x

@rainbow178 we loved the first series of You but have stalled a bit on the 2nd. We're watching 'The Hunters' at the moment... Al Pacino doing a Yiddish accent is pretty unusual, but good! 😂

I got a twin pack of clearblue digitals for exactly that reason @Minster2012 - distinct lack of symptoms and not believing it at all 😂 Did them 2 weeks apart and I did find them quite reassuring for that frustrating gap between the BFP and the 7 week scan.x

OP posts:
rainbow178 · 25/02/2020 21:58

@Minster2012 @BambiOnIce80 I also re tested a week after first BFP as I didn't feel different! The sickness is now reassuring me that something is definitely different!!

@Littlelot I had exactly the same today!! A colleague at the end of the day was like "erm, I think I need to self isolate!" And all I can think is "I've been in your room, touched things you've touched, OMG" but DH kinda reassured me as well, said at the end of the day, it is only like having the flu. But you just suddenly feel vulnerable don't you!? I am a teacher as well and my go to for sickness has been plain pringles!! Keep reaching in my cupboard between lessons!!

Minster2012 · 25/02/2020 22:08

I’m glad I’m not the only one with the retest thoughts thank you @BambiOnIce80, @rainbow178, I’m still niggled by the OTD test from the hospital last week being a faint line but all the others weren’t so tried to relax about it. I drink so much water it’s prob just swimming already 🤣😂.

It’s just so weird trying to think ahead to plan stuff later in the year for a potential Halloween baby or something like that, whilst not being too hasty.

Viletta · 25/02/2020 22:14

I also have fuzzy brain and keep forgetting words or names. I love sleeping on my belly but I do feel my uterus when I do it now.

Viletta · 25/02/2020 22:15

I watched Babies on Netflix, it's pretty cool and scientific. Can't wait to have mine now 😊

FlapJackered · 26/02/2020 05:47

@MrsLouB so sorry to hear you are still in limbo. Good to still have a bit of hope but very hard to be waiting to hear. I will be thinking of you on Friday and keeping fingers crossed. X

FlapJackered · 26/02/2020 06:04

I noticed that babies doc @Viletta it is definitely on my list to watch.
For some reason I am finding watching anything remotely stressful hard to watch at the moment! So I definitely think that Cats doc is not for me in my current state!! 😂
I am currently rewatching Ally Mcbeal which is ideal easy watching. 👌

So I think my sickness was just a bug. Felt so terrible on Sunday and pretty bad on Monday but was feeling much better yesterday. Which is a relief as I really wasn't sure how I would function if that was going to be the norm! 🙈

So I need your advice. My SIL (DHs sis) has just told us with much glee she is pregnant. Almost exactly same stage as me. She has always been super competitive with DH and jealous. I always told DH that as soon as she knows we are pregnant she will get pregnant!
Well we told her we were struggling to conceive at Christmas but didn't mention the IVF. Now she is pregnant. Funny coincidence! She has two children already who are 10 and 11 so this is a bit of a shake up to her family.
We were going to wait to tell her until 12 weeks, because she is not capable of keeping a secret and because of the jealousy thing she can be quite controlling and mean if she feels threatened. She is very happy to be the pregnant one at the moment and is being uncharacteristically kind which is a relief! That will all change once we tell her though. So do we wait and risk her being upset we didn't tell her when she told us and therefore even more jealous and mean OR do we tell her now and bring forward the fun competitive jealousy!? 🤦‍♀️

FlapJackered · 26/02/2020 06:05

Good luck today @Chooklass will be thinking of you and keeping 🤞🤞

rainbow178 · 26/02/2020 06:20

@FlapJackered I had exactly the same sickness- awful on Monday and I was thinking no way can I cope with this for potentially the next 8 weeks! And more manageable yesterday and feeling a bit better today too.

Your SIL doesn't sound very nice to be honest! I would stick to your guns and tell them when you were going to tell them. Maybe let her have her 'moment' and you can have yours when you start telling people

lls1990 · 26/02/2020 06:57

Just did another pregnancy test as not done one since Sunday. This one was so faint, like barely there line. Much lighter than previous ones I've done 😢 think I will phone my clinic as soon as they open. No bleeding or anything but I just don't have a good feeling. Had shooting pains by right ovary last night not anything majorly painful no bleeding or anything but worrying that my medication is stopping the bleeding. Husband said I'm worrying it away which isn't helping but I just don't know what to do 😕
