Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

Great scans @FlapJackered & @Wimbledon1!! Gorgeous! Look at the little beans! Can’t believe I’ve got to wait til 7+5 for mine but hey ho!

@wimbledon1 that’s so bizarre about the swimming, because when I went into my clinic on weds after my BFP I specifically asked about that & they said swimming is fine, as is baths just no saunas & hot tubs. I love to go swimming as does DS. We are also going to book a center parcs trip to try which will likely be pre 12 weeks 🤔

Minster2012 · 21/02/2020 18:55

Ooo also @Viletta I’ve got a range of 0% drinks (& bought something poster ones for mates before!) for valentines I had “fizzero” fromM&S which was 0% sparkling rose, was nice just like sparkling fruit stuff really, I’ve been drinking Sipsmiths 0% gin citrus which is good i do drink it like g&t a lot of it is in my mind clearly! & another 0% more grassy gin called bax botanicals, apparently the spencer Matthews one sells in Sainsbury’s & is nice. Tesco sell a range of 0% wines & drinks, the big ones do, I’ve got a Cabernet Sauvignon to try & I thought if I post a pic on Facebook it would fool ppl with a steak but a couple of weeks! But it looks pretty watery 😬

Other than that there’s an online company I’ve used for baby showers & bought my friend called dry drinker. The Prosecco on that is good & some of the wines are very good but they are pricey & delivery is too.

When did ppl tell their doctors by the way?

Viletta · 21/02/2020 19:10

@Minster2012 good to know, thank you! I might get a 0% fruit cider. I tried 0% beer and it was not bad, although I'm not a beer drinker. My dad told me I can't have tonic.. I didn't google it, not sure.

Wimbledon1 · 21/02/2020 19:12

Yes sorry ladies, saying that and then disappearing for four hours afterwards was probably not the best plan! Sorry if I harmed anyone's productivity. But the weekend now, hurrah!

I have one of those fake gins so will have a couple tonight with tonic. There's one on offer in Sainsbury's at the moment...

Yes @Minster2012 it is weird about the swimming, unexpected. Apparently until the placenta is formed at 10-12 weeks they said better safe than sorry, but my clinic seem to have been so conservative with everything. They only said we could DTD after today. So I would listen to your docs not mine!

@MrsLouB how are you? Have things settled down today? Thinking of you x

Minster2012 · 21/02/2020 20:08

@Viletta tonic isn’t an issue, we checked with the midwife previously, the amount of quinine in is v small compared to the amounts you aren’t allowed by having the malaria vaccine or a tablet but obviously it’s up to you 🤷‍♀️, I am not drinking vast quantities as a “regular thirst quenching” drink x

Viletta · 21/02/2020 20:46

@Minster2012 good to know the quantity is small. I sometimes crave a tonic water.

Wimbledon1 · 21/02/2020 21:53

@Lily999 I meant to reply to your message earlier to say, could it just be this? A few of us on here have slightly grossed out about this!

MrsLouB · 22/02/2020 07:59

@Wimbledon1 @Flapjackered great great scans so pleased for you both.

No change herd really had brown most day And yesterday a show red with some small clots which went back to barely anything. But i got some pretty strong cramps this morning i am holding out some hope for Tuesday but i am also not sure if my bleeding would get heavier or not at the moment due to the fact im still on meds. Clinic are not helpful and say keep and eye and they will see me Tuesday x

Wimbledon1 · 22/02/2020 09:14

Oh no, this waiting must be so hard @MrsLouB. I guess if the clinic scanned once this week and know there was an embryonic sac there, until it's heartbeat time it's probably true there isn't much else they can do? But Tuesday must seem like a lifetime away. Definitely don't give up hope. I still feel like you'd know if things had gone really wrong. Unfortunately even in this group in the last few weeks we've had people leave after having what they described as 'rushes of wet' and stuff, which you definitely haven't. Keeping everything crossed for Tuesday and sending you maximum baby dust 💫💕

Viletta · 22/02/2020 10:23

@MrsLouB my clinic suggested to add 50% more progesterone if any bleeding occurs even though I am already on a very high dose. Can you check with the clinic if this might help? Good luck and hope everything goes well.

MrsLouB · 22/02/2020 11:46

@Wimbledon1 thanks yeah i havent hadnt the gush but i am now what i call actively bleeding the same as my period i can feel the flow, i believe the the drugs maybe delaying the full flow. Yes we saw the sack and the embryo which measured bang on 6 weeks so hard that the same i have started to bleed.

@viletta thanks i have been keeping them updated and they havent asked me to do anything just to continue but i can ask thank youx

FlapJackered · 22/02/2020 16:59

@MrsLouB I am sorry you're going through this. It is almost worse when you're in limbo and don't know what is happening. Hopefully you will get some reassurance on Tuesday. As I think I mentioned before my sister had lots of red blood on and off throughout the first trimester, it is worrying but not always a bad sign. Keeping everything crossed for Tuesday xx

Viletta · 22/02/2020 17:28

@MrsLouB have you tested again to see if the line is still strong? Having everything crossed for xx

MrsLouB · 22/02/2020 18:26

Thanks @FlapJackered yes i have friend who also did so i know there are times it is not what it seems.

@viletta i tested on friday morning and it was still stronger than the control on the frer and 2-3 weeks on digi but as i know this could just been hcg in my system until the complete passing not sure it is going down.

It is awful being in limbo and i am 99.9 % we know the outcome but still hoping for a miracle.

I would of thought if it was failing then we wouldn't of seen I the embryo measuring 6 weeks on wednesday but i have given up trying to understand xx

Spending the weekend relaxing and have monday and tuesday off work to relax x

Lily999 · 23/02/2020 09:41

Hi @MrsLouB I have been thinking about you, how are things this morning?

MrsLouB · 23/02/2020 09:53

Hi @Lily999 ah thank you so sweet.

Ive been upset all morning i still have cramps and bleeding very much like my period as just as heavy so i am coming to terms with what we will be told on tuesday. I did have a moment when i woke i the night and thought oh your still there little bean as my boobs had started to feel tender again but i think this is due to the progesterone xxx

How are u doing x

BambiOnIce80 · 23/02/2020 10:40

Good morning ladies ☀ Sorry for the radio silence yesterday - had a day of feeling the roughest I've felt so far and even looking at my phone kind of made me feel 'travel sick' 🤢 Feeling a lot brighter today though (after doing nothing at all yesterday and sleeping for 9 hours last night!😴) 🙂

I'm so sorry for what you're going through @MrsLouB 💙 It must be so hard waiting for Tuesday, but I have read about ladies passing clots and it still not being over so I'm keeping absolutely everything crossed that this will be the case for you 🤞💓🤞💓

How did your wine 'tasting' go @Wimbledon1?! Did your excuse hold up? 🤞

I agree with @Minster2012 that tonic water should be fine @Viletta 🍸👍 Never heard about that one, but did a trawl of the research about it and it's from over 10 years ago and it was talking about quinine in anti-malarials and other quinine based drugs, so waaaayyyy higher quantities than what's in tonic water! 💦 I think it's the kind of thing that a daily mail-esque rag has grabbed hold of and scaremongered away with 🙄 You'd have to drink well over a litre of tonic water a day for the whole of the pregnancy to even get close to harmful levels, so I think we're OK with the odd fake G&T 😉 Seedslip spice is alright (as far as fake gin can be! 😏) and I've been quite enjoying the 0% heineken (even though I'm not usually a beer drinker). Wine wise, I've found the best one yet to be the 0% 'dealcoholised' sangre de toro that you can get from Majestic. I love their (alcoholised?! 🤔😂) red, so was very pleased to see the 0% red, white and rosè (and bought all 3!😬). They are all a bit sweeter than normal wine, but the red was quite drinkable and fooled DP' s friends when they came round the other weekend 🍷

Hope everyone else is having a chilled Sunday.xx

Minster2012 · 23/02/2020 11:35

So sorry @MrsLouB sending lots of hugs your way & hope that it’s not the case 🤞🏻🍀

I did a willow weaving course I helped to organise in my village yesterday & made a duck for my garden or maybe to put near my front door...my DS loves ducks & is proper starting to talk saying quack quack & has a duck coat so DH & I have nicknamed bean “duckling”, DS was 🐝 ☺️
We also DTD yesterday & all was well!!

I’m still on constant knicker watch but that won’t change for a while 🤷‍♀️& we are trying to get a few house jobs done before the rugby later

Hope everyone else is good

Wimbledon1 · 23/02/2020 14:27

Also sorry to hear this @MrsLouB but I'm not giving up hope for you and the little bean yet. Glad you have a few days to take it easy and prepare for the scan. Everything crossed for you 🍀🍀

@Minster2012 - knicker watch 😂 Thats exactly it isn't it. I got my BFP over three weeks ago now and I've not really stopped doing it. In fact although I have very few light coloured underwear, I'm trying to wear them as often as I can so I can be on the watch for spotting 👀

@BambiOnIce80 sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish my dear. Hope they are better tomorrow for work! Other than being a bit tired and pathetic I'm still not really seeing any symptoms but I'm sure they will hit at some point.

In the end for wine tasting I told the half truth about undergoing IVF. There were three other couples but one couple dropped out and one other is my BF and her DH so they already knew anyway. So decided I might as well tell the others some of the truth. So I had very small amounts and spat - it was totally fine. By the end of the evening they were all quite drunk and shouty though so it became less fun as it went!!

MrsLouB · 23/02/2020 16:08

Thanks ladies i really appreciate you checking in and your support. Oddly i feel ok this morning cramps seem to ease off after the morning, bleeding seems to be the same but tapering off seems to be heavy when i wipe or after TMI BM. Tuesday is a lifetime away so will continue to have a small hope until then
Glad everyone's doing ok enjoy your sundays x

Littlelot · 23/02/2020 18:59

@MrsLouB been thinking of you, sorry you are going through this and limbo is such a horrid place to be. Be kind to yourself over the next couple of days 💐

Really happy to see the updates of people having had their scans! @Wimbledon1
cant believe the NHS was so vague and unhelpful. It seems to be so dependent on which hospital / person you get. Our scan was NHS and I couldn’t have asked for a nicer sonographer! @FlapJackered so glad yours went well too - I know how stressful it is waiting after previous bad experiences. Even now I keep bouncing from feeling confident to anxious.

My midwife appointment is on Thursday. Not really sure what to expect apart from lots of questions! I’ve been off school for half term this week which has helped with the nausea - I think I can eat a little and more often at home whereas at school I have to wait for breaks and by then I feel awful. Going to sneak some oatcakes into my drawer to snack between lessons! Have also discovered I’ve gone off garlic (had veg cooked in garlic at a restaurant this week and husband has just made garlic bread which I normally love but today just found it awful!). Still loving the cauliflower though! A great thing to want to eat all the time - got to be much better for my weight than just wanting to eat cake or chocolate!

For those who can remember I told my sister about the pregnancy - I told her via text so she could react however she wanted. She was fab and told me not to worry about saying she knew how long we’d been trying and was over the moon for us. She also said it gave her hope in case they decided to go down the IVF route. She hasn’t text as often since but that doesn’t necessarily mean much with her. I think it was right for me to tell her though as I think she would have been upset if she thought i fet I couldn’t tell her.

I have never tried the 0% wines - Good to get some reviews.

Hope everyone has a good week and fingers crossed for those with upcoming scans. Xx

MrsLouB · 23/02/2020 19:22

Do you guys think if i take a pregnancy test tomorrow at it is positive there maybe hope or that the hcg could just still be in my system? I only ask as bleeding seems to of tapered off today x

DobbieFreeElf · 23/02/2020 19:38

@mrsloub HCG drops quite slowly, with a natural or medicated miscarriage they ask you to do a pregnancy test 3 weeks after it's identified, so that's how long they expect it to take for hcg to drop below detectable levels. When I had my betas done every 2 days after my second miscarriage I could see how slowly it was dropping and as it was above 25 I would have still been testing positive on a hpt for quite a while. Hopefully as the others have said it's just a little breakthrough bleeding, fingers crossed for you x

MrsLouB · 23/02/2020 19:42

@DobbieFreeElf thank you the last one i had at 5.5 weeks my levels dropped really quickly and the others have been very quick to but as this is ivf and medicated i guess it would be different x

DobbieFreeElf · 23/02/2020 19:45

It's a horrible wait as too many of us who have been through it will attest to, hoping for a positive outcome for you and your OH, please look after yourself x
