@UKtoSK yes very mislead regarding pregnancy sex, I have zero drive to and had an experience earlier this week which was just uncomfortable and not sexy at all and it left me more worried and concerned about the baby which lead to a sleepless night 😩, my DH now knows not to expect anything for the foreseeable 😂😂

22+1 x

newbyxx · 02/02/2020 08:44

@AmyMaria2 are you feeling any movement yet? My little man has really quietened down the last week not feeling him as much as I did, everything is ok as heard heartbeat so I'm back to putting it down to the placenta position! Xx

MissisBee · 02/02/2020 09:27

@BabyBird20 I highly recommend Neilmed sinus rinse. And anyone else with snotty symptoms too. I have rhinitis anyway, worse in pregnancy, and I've been using it daily.

I'm having the opposite @newbyxx and @UKtoSK Blush never had so much interest in my life! This definitely didn't happen with my first though.

chocolate26 · 02/02/2020 09:39

@MissisBee I am definitely sneezing a lot more and I feel like I have a pressure in my sinuses quite often.

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow morning 😃 very excited but also very nervous. Do I need a full bladder?

peetieswie · 02/02/2020 09:47

Got a terrible cold that started Friday evening. Has made sleeping worse. Thank god this if my first baby so I can lie around in bed today.

There's a baby event on the George app (asda). To be honest I have no idea what I need and don't need so if anyone sees anything that's useful let me know! I assume I don't need big padded onsie for cold weather? Do I need sterilising stuff if I'm going to breastfeed? Any recommendations on breast pump and is new important rather than second hand? Sorry, such a noob!

Pegase · 02/02/2020 10:11

You will need sterilising stuff if you are going to express. I had a dual pump last time which was great, with a pumping bra, but that was because I had to express every day as baby didn't latch. This time I am going to buy bottle feeding equipment in advance as DH ended up doing a mad dash to the shops for everything formula-related when we had a screaming, starving baby who couldn't feed (although I had tons of milk).

Still hoping to bf this time though - looking into hiring a lactation consultant.

I was massively affected by not being able to bf but now I look back on it, it seems like such a big drama over nothing. Fed is best- however it works out. Nobody would look at my 6 year old now and be able to tell how she was fed for the first 6 months!

mrssunshinexxx · 02/02/2020 10:12

@peetieswie I would get a second hand breast pump if it's pricey to buy first hand I'm keeping my out out for an Elvie one second hand x
No you won't need big snowsuit til Oct / nov time so if there's one for 6m you could buy one.. steriliser personally I'm not getting one as I. Plan to ebf and not use dummies but can quickly get one if I need to you can also sterilise with boiling water

BabyBird20 · 02/02/2020 11:31

@MissisBee thank you I will try that, the doc told me to try a sinus rinse but didn't say which to get! Everything is such a minefield when pg!! I'm hoping they'll give me antibiotics soon as currently getting worse not better and last time I got it this bad j ended up temporarily deaf in both ears and off work for a month!! 😬😬

MissisBee · 02/02/2020 11:41

The rinses may well help stave off the need for antibiotics. The Neilmed comes with sachets of stuff, but you can make your own solution too - 1/2 tsp each of salt and bicarb (I'm too stingy to buy more of the sachets!) I've also used steroid nasal sprays when it's been bad, and ok to use in pregnancy.

My friend is raving about the Elvie pump! She can express while going round Tesco! I had a Nuby single pump last time, it was quite fierce! Used an Ardo while DS was in hospital and it was great. Once we'd got bf established, expressing was pointless as DS refused bottles, but I used it for a while to donate some milk.
Think I'll get myself one of those hakaa suction pumps this time.

UKtoSK · 02/02/2020 12:21

@newbyxx I’m sorry you had a bad experience. But everything was ok?

I had a couple of days not feeling baby move much if at all (kept wondering if I was really feeling her or not as it was over so soon each time) and got upset this morning so went to the doctor to check and she’s fine. She was just curled up at the back with her legs and feet tucked in and her face stuck right in my placenta ☺️ husband thinks I’m crazy for worrying, he’s so confident that everything is fine all the time but he’s not the one carrying the baby. Anyway look at her cute little feet 😍

Are baby kicks painful for any of you? Like, I'm only 19+3 and they're bloody hurting already. I yelp out in pain sometimes Blush don't remember this with previous 2!

What cute lil feet photo there already @UKtoSK !

Dont worry too much about stocking up already @peetieswie as you have ages and baby events and sales happen all the time.

Go there with one because you can always empty @chocolate26 but tbh I've never gone with a bursting to be emptied bladder at any scan.

So true about the sleeping deeply thing @Magpiefeather ! It's so odd how once baby is here, that's no longer a thing!

MissisBee · 02/02/2020 16:36

Only when my cervix is the target @Twittlebee!! DS used to get a big foot wedged up in my ribs when I was further along. That was always painful

Twittlebee · 02/02/2020 16:53

Yeah I do remember those cervix and rib jabs actually @MissisBee but this is to the side, I'm sure he laying transverse atm.

Zoey92 · 02/02/2020 16:57

@chocolate26 my sneezing is on another level 😂

20weeks today, half way there😯 i cant believe it!

APD1981 · 02/02/2020 17:39

@Twittlebee I wouldn't say painful kicks but there are times it makes me jump or gasp for breath. Especially when it's deep down in my pelvis! I think baby is really stretching out now as sometimes my kicks are down low and they're now starting to get above my belly button.

Has everyone joined the Boots Parenting Club? I have been to Boots today for a baby spending spree and to collect me free items from the club. I got a free MAM bottle and soother worth £9.99 and a free baby toiletries set worth £10.99! Plus you get loads of points when you buy baby things. There's an event on at the mo so some really good bargains (e.g. We got a Tommy Tippee electric steriliser for £29.49 instead of £58.99). All in all I spent £101 and got £176 worth of stuff, plus £20 worth of points! Feel quite proud of myself!

Larrydavid · 02/02/2020 19:08

We had our 20 wk scan last week. Those who found out gender at the 20 week scan, was it obvious if it was a boy or girl or would you have to have it pointed out to you?

We said we didn't want to know but then we saw the "potty shot" and think we could tell. Curious to know what other people saw!

21+1

peetieswie · 02/02/2020 19:14

@larrydavid we didn't want to know and she didn't even look at that area, just checked legs. I don't think it's obvious from what I've heard. Have a look at some gender scans on youtube and you should see they seem pretty hard to tell and cord can sometimes be misleading depending on where it is. It often takes a lot of repetitive moving in and out for the sonographer to work out the gender.

Twittlebee · 02/02/2020 19:59

I'm a member but I havent a clue how you get free things? @APD1981

StayClosePooky · 02/02/2020 20:06

Evening all! Can I join in, due 18th June x

mrssunshinexxx · 02/02/2020 20:24

Those of you that found out gender at anomaly scan did you ask or did the sonographer offer to tell you?

Blizy · 02/02/2020 20:27

Twittlebee do you have the advantage card app? If so check out the my offers section and scroll until you find the parenting club offers then you can chose which ones to load onto your card.

MissisBee · 02/02/2020 20:33

I joined the parenting club before. All I can think I need to buy this time is maternity pads 😅

Last time, we didn't want to know the sex, so the sonographer told us to look away when she was in the relevant area. Although at the time, their official policy was they wouldn't tell you. They've changed that now, so we'll ask at ours on Tuesday

mrssunshinexxx · 02/02/2020 20:49

@MissisBee hope that's not our hospitals policy 😫

Twittlebee · 02/02/2020 20:56

Ah thank you @Blizy yeah I hadn't appreciated I needed to actually load my clubcard onto an app! How do I get the free things? I've "loaded" them onto my clubcard, do I just go up to a till and ask?

APD1981 · 02/02/2020 21:06

@Twittlebee if you have the offer for free things, load it to you app and when you scan your advantage card it'll just take the price of the item off your bill. I just found the free things iw as entitled to on the shelf and took them to the till.
