Morning ladies
I'm so sorry you are suffering sickness so bad. It must be aweful. Are you all having girls? Old wives tale, I know.

@lemonysherbet thank You I'm feeling fine. And doing well to keep the worry at bay.
@umabb wow I can't believe yours was 150. But so glad it is coming down and you are getting the monitoring too. The Registrar wasn't clear on what the treatment or outcome would be other than if I had a rash they would provide a cream. Keep me posted on how you get on.

@BabyBird20 I was so tender for 3 days after the scan. I mentioned it to the midwife and she said it was normal. However, I struggled to walk on the 3rd day as it felt like my bump was weighing heavily on my bladder or something down low. It was quite uncomfortable. I hope you aren't the same. But if you do experience it, it will subside but take it easy and avoid potholes if in the car. Feels like your insides and baby are being rattled around.

mrssunshinexxx · 31/01/2020 08:53

@BabyBird20 ring the doc or midwife get your urine and blood checked severe headaches would worry me (preeclampsia) let us know how you get on x

Magpiefeather · 31/01/2020 09:06

@RPPs I have had horrendous sickness (still going, have been sick every day this week) and apparently ours is a boy so I think it’s a complete myth! I was sick with our girl too, pregnancies have been pretty much the same - same cravings, food aversions, sickness, everything. But one girl and one boy (unless sonographer was wrong!)

BabyBird20 · 31/01/2020 09:14

Thanks ladies, I've been avoiding calling the docs as felt silly calling when this started out as a cold but the headaches have got worse and now have tinnitus too! Soon as I mentioned that to the gp receptionist she said to definitely come in to be checked so glad I called now! Going in at 10.45 so will let you know how I get on!! Fingers crossed it's just cold symptoms lasting longer than usual! 🤞🤞

Twittlebee · 31/01/2020 11:01

Good luck at the GPs, let us know how you get on @BabyBird20 sounds awful!

That's an odd phrase to use isnt it @Magpiefeather ! There was no mistaking my 3 boys. It is also more likely for a girl to turn out to be a boy but of course they can get it wrong the other way round too!

Regarding the sickness, I have had it different each pregnancy. My 2nd son's pregnancy was tough with how sick I was, how much weight i lost etc but then this one has been the easiest out of all of them! So dont fear if you've suffered badly this time thinking you will next time.

Only had 2 contractions today, when I first got up, so seems rest is super helping them go back down. Got talking to a few people who have had an irritable uterus in pregnancy and it seems all I can do is rest to prevent them! Blurgh.

I have bought potential first outfits for baby today. A newborn and a tiny baby. Might buy a preemie one too, just in case.

BabyBird20 · 31/01/2020 11:59

Thanks @twittlebee Luckily the docs was lovely! No protein in my urine so not preeclampsia but my blood pressure is really high. It's borderline for when they start treatment so have been signed off for a week to rest up and got to monitor at home for 24 hours to see if it goes down and have a follow up appointment in the morning! If it won't go down I'll have to start medication!! 😩😩

MissisBee · 31/01/2020 14:10

A former colleague of mine had an irritable uterus during her pregnancy. She was on bed rest from 20-odd weeks, worried the whole time she'd go into premature labour, but ended up going right to full term. I hope yours ends up similarly well-behaved

Gigitree · 31/01/2020 16:31

Is anyone else feeling flutters down really low still? I’m a FTM at 19+2 and for some reason thought my uterus and therefore baby would have moved up towards belly button level by now? Or am I just getting this all wrong? GrinGrin

Babymaher · 31/01/2020 17:16

@Gigitree I’m 21 weeks and also still only feeling kicks and flutters low down in my pelvis hopefully that makes you feel better no idea what the norm is as also a FTM.

On a bit of a different note has anyone thought about using reusable nappies ? My husband is against the idea but our friend is trying to convince us.

Twittlebee · 31/01/2020 17:20

Yeah will be about that big @Gigitree but of course it starts at your cervix and your baby could be deciding to chill closer down there than further up. Also depends where your placenta is, position of baby etc too. I've been feeling jabs all over the show, scan on Wednesday showed this one does a lot of wriggling everywhere haha. They have a lot of space to move about atm.

Oh that brings me a lot of relief, thank you @MissisBee

Oh that is a little worrying isnt it @BabyBird20 ! How are you feeling this evening?

Twittlebee · 31/01/2020 17:23

We are planning reusable nappies @Babymaher but we are having the mindset that it doesnt have to be all or nothing! We have every intention of predominately using reusable but will most likely use disposable at night. We did start using them with our toddler just before we potty trained them and they managed to contain his wee and poop.

Also, once you have gone through potty training, cloth nappies dont seem that scary because you're pretty used to having to deal with poop in cloth haha

Babymaher · 31/01/2020 17:30

@Twittlebee thank you for your reply that’s great to hear. I’m keen to try them so guess I will have to keep trying to convince the husband. My friend said her little girl leaks a lot tho more so than if she wore disposable nappies I think that’s what is putting us both off and my husband isn’t keen on the thought of them going in the washing machine despite me telling him the baby clothes that have poop on will be going in the same machine!!

Twittlebee · 31/01/2020 17:35

Haha yup and so do cushions and throws and bedding and everything else that gets somehow covered in baby and toddler poop and sick @Babymaher

We have only bought 7 nappies in each size too, so most likely we will have days that will only do disposable as we wait for them to dry etc. Those first few weeks you get through about 8-10 nappies a day. A lot of people dont start using cloth till a few months old too.

There are also flushable and biodegradable liners you can buy which lay on the top and allow for poop to slide out and minimise the poop stuck in the cloth too

Check out www.thenappylady.co.uk/ for tips and advice

Gigitree · 31/01/2020 18:02

Thanks @Babymaher and @twittlebee
That makes me feel a lot better! Grin

@babymaher I had looked into the idea of reusable nappies with the environmental impact of disposables in mind, and I read an interesting review where someone suggested that you’re not actually minimising the environmental impact all that much because obviously they need washing and that increases water usage and also releases microplastics into the water etc. However I’m sure cloth nappies are still better in the long run.

I plan to use disposables to begin with and think about the switch to cloth later on. I feel like being a FTM I’m going to be overwhelmed to begin with anyway so disposable nappies is something convenient I can rely on in those early days! Smile

BabyBird20 · 31/01/2020 18:46

@Twittlebee thanks I'm feeling a bit better, still got an awful headache that I can't shake but my DH bought me a blood pressure monitor and it's already come down after a full day laid on the sofa so I'm hopeful for the follow up appointment!! 😊🤞🤞

peetieswie · 31/01/2020 18:51

I'm going to use cloth nappies. I've joined the Facebook groups which are useful and bought some new and used cloth nappies to use. Waiting to sanitise them nearer the time. The prints are soooo cute. A lot of people on the groups say they have way fewer leaks and pop explosions with cloth.

Had scan today. All went well! Baby was fine although wasn't super wiggly but I think it's hard to tell when they're moving the scanner around anyway. Relieved no issues so might go crazy buying stuff now 😋 No idea how to attach a photo to show you guys.

mrssunshinexxx · 31/01/2020 19:37

Anyone got any recommendations for reusable breast pads please

QforCucumber · 31/01/2020 20:00

I couldn't find any last time which didnt leak @mrssunshinexxx so would also be keen on recommendations!

Rinoa · 31/01/2020 20:02

@gigitree I'm 22 weeks today and still feel flutters down low.
Sorry not sure what FTM means, if its first time mum then I am too! lol and I guess it can be normal depending on where your uterus is.

chocolate26 · 31/01/2020 20:17

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and I still feel the baby low down! Sometimes it's slightly higher but most of the time really low. I was worrying about this but it seems to be the norm for this stage 😊

MissisBee · 31/01/2020 20:43

We used reusable last time. I really liked them, husband less so and he's dead against a repeat performance. We had bamboo ones from little lamb, which took forever to dry, so probably counteracted any benefit with the amount of tumble drying we did. Never leaked though, and we often used the reusable wrap over a disposable, which was great for containing leaks with them.
I really liked the little lamb breast pads, but wasn't much of a leaker to really put them to the test

BabyBird20 · 31/01/2020 20:58

@mrssunshinexxx @QforCucumber I have been strongly recommended the cheeky wipes breast pads by a friend who swears by them! I've bought the 9 pair set so have plenty and also invested in the reusable wipes!!

mrssunshinexxx · 31/01/2020 21:16

Thanks @BabyBird20 x

Twittlebee · 31/01/2020 21:21

Just remember with reusable breast pads do not wash them with any softener! It will cause them to lose their absorbance

sarahlounich · 31/01/2020 21:36

Just caught up from the last few days... glad to hear you're feeling a bit better after some rest @twittlebee @babybird20

I'm 22+3 and have felt movements low down for the last few week but this week they're definitely higher up...I even saw a little kick or punch move my belly this evening! He loves mornings and evenings when I'm laid in bed! Currently feels like he's having a little party in there!

Sorry to hear some people's sickness has come back 🙁

Hope everyone has a nice restful weekend x
