@BabyBird20 my NCT classes are booked for April too, I feel the same. I mean I get it if we can’t attend as it’s better for everyone’s health and safety if we don’t, but then as a first time mum I’ll feel really clueless about a lot of things and I was also hoping to meet other parents who are local and due around the same time.

@Rinoa I’ve had PGP/SPD since around December time, it’s not fun so I feel your pain. Do you have the financial resources to see a physio privately?

The best thing I’ve found is to sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees. My physio also suggested putting a pillow between your ankles too if you feel like that is necessary to keep everything aligned while you sleep.

Other than that I find swimming really helpful, but thanks to the coronavirus who knows how long that will be sensible to do.

Missgemini · 14/03/2020 22:05

@Rinoa I don't know about your area, but when I told my midwife about my SPD, she said she would send the referral, but very unlikely to materialise into anything.

AmyMaria2 · 15/03/2020 00:09

@Rinoa my phone call for physio came through 2 weeks after referral! Going to my appointment Monday morning.

Had a stressful few days. 28 week midwife appointment my bump was measuring 35 weeks, baby is slightly above average but shouldn't be measuring so much bigger, they put me on a monitor and got a doctor to come and see me, they can hear and feel extra fluid, I have an emergency scan tomorrow to see how much fluid I have and if it's leaking at all, they're already talking about how much baby weighs and how developed he is incase he has to come super early 😳 I'm hoping the scan tomorrow confirms it isn't as bad as they think or that there is something else they can do, anyone had a similar experience or extra fluid? I knew my bump was massive, just thought it was baby! X

SearchingTheSkies · 15/03/2020 01:14

@BabyBird20 I'm also wondering about NCT, as mine were due to start in April. The main NCT website says they are monitoring the situation in case they have to provide classes in other formats, or something like that. Really hope I still get to go.

Boris seems adamant to keep schools open so presume I'll be going to work as normal for the foreseeable. I'm not too anxious (yet!) about it, but it just seems weird that everything else around me is shutting down or being postponed,

SearchingTheSkies · 15/03/2020 01:17

@AmyMaria2 I've not heard about excess fluid. Have they explained why it's something they need to investigate/keep an eye on? I hope you get some reassurance soon.

AmyMaria2 · 15/03/2020 01:24

@SearchingTheSkies it's called Polyhydramnios , it causes preterm labour in most cases, or waters to leak/break early at least😞 hoping to get some more reassuring news tomorrow thank you x

Smiffette · 15/03/2020 06:45

I started NCT classes last week on Thursday, next one is due on Wednesday and going ahead as planned. The lady just made us all wash our hands before entering the group and advised no hugs or handshakes. Then washed hands again before tea and coffee break.

I wouldn't worry about antenatal classes being cancelled. I know it feels daunting as a first time parent but really it is hardly a fount of wisdom. You'll be able to learn from a book! I think the social aspect is of course nice to have.

The news of the newborn being affected is very worrying. Plus the NHS being even more short staffed than usual when we are due to give birth.

RPPs · 15/03/2020 07:13

Morning Ladies
I hope you are having a good weekend. I ventured out for dinner on Friday and to Costco yesterday to fill my freezer. Didn't really stock pile but want to ensure I can feed my Bambino in times of crisis.
I have a question. Is anyone suffering from tight pants. And if so have you any advice. Im an 8-10 so Ive always worn size 10 underwear but now even they feel uncomfortable on my bump and the groin. Do we just buy bigger size or are there maternity specific pants?

newbyxx · 15/03/2020 07:19

Wasn't worried before but have you all seen that a newborn baby In London has now tested positive for corona virus, they aren't sure whether the virus was transmitted in the womb or through delivery but this has now made me more nervous about it as I didn't think babies were at risk before! Especially as the virus is suppose to peak in June, when we're all due! X

Cb31 · 15/03/2020 07:20

I was in hospital last night for monitoring because I hadn't felt baby move much. Of course baby started having a party once we were in hospital and everything was fine. But I was asking the midwife about the coronovirus and she was really reassuring. I was worried that if you were self isolating they wouldn't see you if you had some sort of concern about the baby. But you still ring the triage and if you need to go in they just keep you in a different bit of the hospital. So I feel alot more relaxed about it now.

@AmyMaria2 so sorry to hear what you're going through! I hope today goes ok, will be thinking about you xxx

sarahlounich · 15/03/2020 07:21

I'm due to start NCT classes this Tuesday and have had emails confirm arrangements but nothing to suggest they will be cancelled at this stage.....🤞

@amymarie2 hope your scan offers you some reassurance.

I haven't really stopped doing anything or going out yet, just more cautious around washing hands/using antibac if I'm out and about. I work in a prison and although I'm not prisoner facing whilst pregnant my colleagues are but no confirmed cases yet. Again just being cautious for now with hand washing/ antibac....my hands are getting so dry 😫

newbyxx · 15/03/2020 07:22

@RPPs regarding pants I've just bought bigger, I was wearing 6-8 now I'm
Wearing a 12! X

newbyxx · 15/03/2020 07:27

@AmyMaria2 hope your scan goes ok let us know how it goes! X

mrssunshinexxx · 15/03/2020 07:43

@RPPs I'm the same size as you and my 10 are getting tight there is a next sale on 28th March providing it goes ahead I'm going to go and stock up on underwear as I find there's really comfy x

Liveforholidays · 15/03/2020 07:46

@RPPs I am normally a size 10. Just bought some size 14s from m and s. Will also stock up on really cheap pants from Asda for post birth that I can chuck afterwards.

AmyMaria2 · 15/03/2020 08:24

Thank you @newbyxx & @Cb31 glad baby started moving again once In hospital! Xx

MsMiaWallace · 15/03/2020 09:18

Morning, not been on for a while.

Does anyone feel really uncomfortably tight underneath your bump? Almost tender feeling?

newbyxx · 15/03/2020 09:58

@MsMiaWallace I had this last week but has passed now guessing it's all down to growing x

Smiffette · 15/03/2020 10:07

@MsMiaWallace yes I also had this in the last week or so and it has now passed. I put it down to growing as well.

Pegase · 15/03/2020 10:14

@RPPs "full briefs" in a larger size than normal are a comfortable but not v sexy option I can attest (needs must!) Grin

Missgemini · 15/03/2020 10:36

@AmyMaria2 so sorry to hear about the stress you've been going through. This whole pregnancy thing is so stressful from beginning to end! Keeping everything crossed for your scan.

@msmiawallace I had a similar thing a couple of weeks ago. Was quite uncomfortable. Phoned midwife who was not worried. She asked questions like: are you bleeding? Are you contracting? As I answered no, she wasn't concerned. Said it was just growing pains. Have a chat with your midwife if it doesn't settle.

Magpiefeather · 15/03/2020 13:36

Hello all!

I am the same, wasn’t worried about Coronovirus until this week really, mainly as they say the peak will be June. My main worry is there being a staff shortage when I go into labour, but I think sadly we just have to trundle on because we are not in control of this situation. So worry is wasted energy (have to keep reminding myself that). However I do have a very lose back up plan in that I have a doctor friend nearby and a friend in the next village who is an ex midwife - would call them in an emergency!

Yes I’ve seen the news of the case with the mother and newborn with the virus. It broke my heart that they were split up. Poor mother and baby I hope they recover quickly.

@AmyMaria2 I had polyhydramnios with dd but it wasn’t until 36 weeks (they scanned routinely at 36 weeks in that trust which is when they picked it up). Mine was mild though and they couldn’t find a reason for it. I didn’t go into labour early, had a spontaneous labour at 41+1. I was enormous by the end though!

They will most likely do more scans, test for gestational diabetes and do a torch screening and other blood tests. They will just want to find out if there’s a reason for the extra fluid. They did say to me that one risk is cord prolapse so if your waters break to get on all fours with your bum in the air and call an ambulance. My midwife said to me though that that was slightly dramatic and I could check myself in that situation.

I’m sure they’ll take you through everything so please try not to worry - it’s not uncommon and entirely manageable! They will keep an eye on it and they’ll see cases of it all the time.

MsMiaWallace · 15/03/2020 15:54

No baby wipes or baby milk in my local supermarkets today Sad

AmyMaria2 · 15/03/2020 16:44

Thank you! scan went okay, was lovely to see baby again. He's 3lbs 5oz, and measuring above average still. The fluid looks okay, there is extra fluid in there but like you said @Magpiefeather I will have extra scans and monitoring, they're hoping to leave me as long as possible but don't think it's likely I will make my due date. I don't mind so much as long as it isn't anytime soon!! Thanks everyone
Also, diabetes test came back fine, so that's one positive!! X
