Hey ladies how you are all well. Hadn't been reading the thread for the last few days so just checking in. I'd been away for a long weekend staying in a castle in Buckinghamshire... was lovely to be away in the countryside and spending some fun time with a few friends.

@Magpiefeather thanks so much for sharing your birth story. I hadn't started preparing myself or even thinking about birth plans at all, other than what work colleague briefly told me "Water-birth is good!" I probably should start looking at options soon. Similarly , I've not bought any baby stuff other than some new born clothes that my mum got for me. The husband is as relaxed, said we will start to buy after 30wks.. I did start to put together a baby wish list on amazon though. 😂

I've developed a symptom of suddenly heart race / palpitation since last week. My heart would race up to 140bpm usually during mid morning - noon and takes 30-60mins to calm down. Midwife advisory line didn't have a clue but said it probably has nothing to do with pregnancy. Hmm I did some reading online and most said it's normal to have palpitation during 2-3 trimester but might imply underlying health condition. I don't know what else I could do guess I'll check with the midwife and the private doctor at my 28wk appointment and scan...

No obvious of movement pattern either. Little B usually has his 11am, 1pm and 8-9pm busy hours but can have quieter days. But if i sit down /lie down and talk to him, he usually would give me a few kicks as reply which is cute.

26+2 today.

@chocolate26 oh god I kept a few outfits from my dd but they’re all pink so no good if we have a boy .. I have 3 outfits in 0-3 those are the only baby items in my house 😂the baby doesn’t have a room yet Either we’re not moving till after Christmas as we’re waiting to buy a house 🙈we have the money there ready so I suppose I can just do it all in one go in a few weeks !we’re supposed to be at the baby show this weekend so hopefully can get an idea for cribs etc . It’s probably best that my Anxiety has kept me from shopping sprees haha

Larrydavid · 10/03/2020 15:58

@umabb I've been getting heart palpitations too - my midwife said it's most likely that the baby is laying on an artery so my heart is pumping faster to get blood through. It mostly happens when I sit or lay down. I don't know if that's similar for your or not but thought I'd share!

APD1981 · 10/03/2020 16:03

Re hypnobirthing... Check if your NHS trust offers the course. I'm booked on to a 3 session evening course next month with the NHS for free. Could be worth finding out.

Zoey92 · 10/03/2020 16:46

25week check up went well, no protein in sample, BP good, heartbeat lovely, no causes for concern so back in 3weeks for usual 28wks check up.

Feeling drained again this week, think i done too much over weekend. Body is definitely starting to tell me to take it easier.
Hows everyone finding sleeping atm?

@Kez437 Thanks for the link. Sounds reassuring.

You're all sounding a lot more organised than me. I've bought absolutely nothing so far! I can't wait to get started but waiting until the Easter hols.

@UKtoSK I'm also feeling very full after eating. So annoying as I love food.

NakeliP · 10/03/2020 17:34

@Zoey92 I've been having some very odd dreams lately. They're getting weirder and weirder! Anyone else having strange dreams? They're not nightmares, thankfully but more like 'cheese dreams"!

Zoey92 · 10/03/2020 17:52

@nakelip oh yes very strange dreams!

I've just had health vistor text & ask if to come see me next week? Anyone else had this i dont think I've heard of this before

mrssunshinexxx · 10/03/2020 17:56

We have pram, car seat, isofix, cotbed, snuz pod, Moses basket, purflo nest, mirror for the car, a few clothes but not enough nappy cream things like that I've been picking up each week on my food shop
Going to an NCT sale on sat so hoping to bag a few more things to tick off my list

Smiffette · 10/03/2020 18:30

@Zoey92 I saw in the maternity book that the health visitor sees you around 28 weeks.

I wasn't sure what that meant but I guess they want to come and meet you as they come after the baby is born too I think!

mrssunshinexxx · 10/03/2020 18:49

@Zoey92 sleeping is getting hard I wake between 1 and 3 times a night for a wee
Every time I wake I am on my back which gets me stressed out I am definitely started to feel tired and slower in general x

Zoey92 · 10/03/2020 19:08

I was freaking out thinking oh god why do you need to see me so soon, i thought I'd done something wrong 😂

@mrssunshinexxx I'm the same always darting middle of night for the loo😂 an yes always waking up on my back

sarahlounich · 10/03/2020 20:42

@UKtoSK yesss get full quickly then I eat more and get sooo uncomfortable. I guess it's to be expected but at 28 weeks today it still feels along way to go!!

We've decorated our nursery, for travel system/car seat, nursery furniture, snug pod and Moses basket. My sis yet asked for a list of things too as she's organised a baby shower in April so we'll be buying all the basics (vests etc) as well as toiletries.

Starting to think about hospital bag....anyone got any hints /tips having done it first time round?!

MissisBee · 10/03/2020 21:01

In my 2017 group, we were all obsessed with OBEM and watched it avidly. Ever since DS was born, I can't watch it, or call the midwife or anything with birth in it.

I have a hypnobirthing book from last time, but didn't find it that helpful TBH and definitely found the epidural more effective 😂 maybe attending a course would have better results.

I'm waking around 5-6am every day and can't get back to sleep. Should be going to bed earlier to compensate, but haven't been!

Hospital bag - have a separate bag, or compartment in your bag for baby's stuff and your stuff. Maternity pads, check if your hospital says if you've to bring your own towel. Handy to have your main bag, to do a couple of days, and a back up bag in case you have a longer stay - I ended up in for 2 weeks, so had loads of stuff to bring home in the end.

Pegase · 11/03/2020 06:07

Hospital bag ideas

  • Fybogel
  • individual complete baby outfits in Ziploc bags
  • energy sweets/drinks
  • nightie (you'll be sitting on an Inco pad)
  • flip flops for shower
  • have more baby clothes easily packed at home in case you have a longer stay than expected.
chocolate26 · 11/03/2020 09:42

@Pegase good idea with the little bags for baby's clothes!

Is everyone taking one bag with yours and baby's clothes in? Or separate bags?

When are you planning on having your hospital bag packed? I was thinking 34 weeks to be on the safe side!

LillianFullStop · 11/03/2020 10:20

@chocolate26 yes I'm planning to have bag packed for 34 weeks too!

Smiffette · 11/03/2020 11:48

I'm planning to have my bag packed at about 34 weeks too. I will have one medium size case to put everything in for me and baby! Including snacks, towel, dressing gown! I figured those things will be a bit bulkier which is why I think I'll go for a medium size case. I think my carry on case will be too small.

mrssunshinexxx · 11/03/2020 12:16

I'm planning to have by 35 weeks I think I'm taking one medium case for me baby and husband things one side zips shut so I will put baby in one half and ours in the other I'm going to lay everything out on the floor and get husband to pack it so he knows where and what everything is x

Cornishbumpkin · 11/03/2020 12:21

It's probs guna end up as a last minute packing rush (always is when I go on holiday) we were talking this week about taking a separate bag for my husband to keep him entertained - he's practically a big kid so have to have snacks and things to stop him annoying me lol

AmyMaria2 · 11/03/2020 13:16

I think I will do a separate bag for me and baby.
@Cornishbumpkin that's a good idea, I think my OH will need his own bag as well. 🙈 x

Blizy · 11/03/2020 15:33

I'll be taking 2 bags, a small carry on size suitcase for me and I'll use the changing bag for baby. I done this last time and it worked
Well. remember to pack all of the snacks! Last time I took cereal bars, grapes, dried apricots and bottled water (with sports cap).

LillianFullStop · 11/03/2020 15:58

Anyone have any travel plans that they are now rethinking? We wanted one last hurrah over Easter as early birthday celebrations/babymoon but with the virus and possibly of cities/countries going under lockdown we are staring to get nervous.

I'll be 31 weeks by then so it would be horrible to be stuck or quarantined or worst case ill overseas so close to my due date and away from my hospital.

sarahlounich · 11/03/2020 17:19

Great idea with taking a separate bag for DH! Hadn't thought of that. I plan on taking little ones changing bag with his bits and something separate for me. Also love the idea of getting hubby to pack bag @mrssunshinexxx so he knows where stuff is.

Had my 28 weeks appointment this afternoon. Measuring 28cm so all good with baby. Blood pressure on the low side 90/60 and some symptoms suggest low iron but she tried both arms and couldn't get enough blood so got to see phlebotomist next week 🙄 she suggested taking things a little slower though so think I need to listen!! We've got a few days booked away to Chester in 2 weeks and I can't wait!

28+1

APD1981 · 11/03/2020 17:24

@Sarahlounich I live about 10 mins from Chester so let me know if you have any questions. It's a beautiful city x
