As if my week could get any worse. I've just found blood in my knickers. Brown blood with a tiny bit of red when I wiped. No pain and baby has moved lots this morning but not really since I discovered the blood (probably just because it's been so busy this morning). Midwife said rest and to monitor with a pad for 2 hours then call her back. In the mean time if fresh red blood comes to ring her immediately. So, I'm really hoping it's just one of those things. I've had so much stress this week, I hope I've not caused this 😥

umabb · 29/02/2020 12:41

@UKtoSK yes it's very worrying how quickly the numbers grown there. Daegu almost looks like Wuhan number 2. It's hard not to worry for us who are 6 month pregnant but glad you are home and safe. x
My parents returned home last Sunday just when the situation was getting better there and more cases started to emerge here. They are quite happy and safe there. One thing less to worry for now for me.

@APD1981 ah completely feel you, must be very scary but baby's moving so I'm sure it's going to be fine. Rest a couple of hours hopefully no more bleeding xx

Hi @APD1981 how many weeks are you? I’m 24 today and have had some brown stuff this week for the first time in my pregnancy. Only small amounts and stringy/snotty looking (gross but no other way to describe it!)

I went to community midwife first time it happened (only been on wiping and not every time). They checked baby and all seemed fine, told to monitor it. Had nothing until yesterday when same thing - small bit of brown stringy stuff once when I wiped, and nothing since. As it happened again I went to see midwives again at the hospital this morning - they did the usual tests (urine, blood pressure, swabs which j did myself and never convinced I do them right but we will see) and listened to baby again. All seems fine and they said likely either:

  1. Mild thrush
  2. Old bleed/erosion, both of which are common. I did have a more invasive examination week 19 for something totally different and that caused some bleeding at the time and so it may well be a bit of left over blood from that.

If no pain and baby moving as usual you’re probably fine but doing the right thing getting advice!

APD1981 · 29/02/2020 12:58

@hjbows88 @umabb thank you x

Baby has been kicking lots since my last update on the thread so when I phone the midwife back I can tell her that. No pain. I was shocked to see the discolouration in my knickers because I just went for a wee and found it there. Had no idea because no pain and baby was going bonkers this morning. I've been checking every half an hour or so (my poorly cat is annoyed I have to move her off my knee every half an hour!) and there's now just the tiniest tinge of yellowy-brown in my normal discharge and only if I go looking for it, if you get what I mean. I only had a glucose test last Friday so don't think it could be anything like that. Got my next midwife appt on Tuesday so that's reassuring, too. I'll let you know what midwife triage says when I call her back.

Oh and I'm 25+6 today x

KLS02 · 29/02/2020 13:31

@APD1981 I’m glad baby is still moving as normal. although you know it probably isn’t anything sinister you still worry so much don’t you!. update us after your midwife appointment, i hope everything is okay x

APD1981 · 29/02/2020 13:41

@KLS02 thank you x

Just spoken to MW again. I've had no more blood and because of baby moving as normal I'm just to rest and monitor it with a pad on. An excuse to rest is very welcome after the week I've had!

umabb · 29/02/2020 17:09

@APD1981 keep us posted xx

@APD1981 I’ve had several small bleeds/spottings throughout my pregnancy, both red and brown and the first two were due to a small subchorionic hematoma in the first trimester but the third was around 17 or 18 weeks after sex. Is it possible that or some other physical activity could have irritated your cervix a little? They say it’s extra sensitive and can bleed easily during pregnancy. Either way, with baby moving and no pain it seems clear everything is fine, but it’s impossible not to worry about everything isn’t it! Hope you have a relaxing Sunday resting x

Missgemini · 01/03/2020 00:21

@apd1981 That must have been worrying. I hear it's quite common to have a bit of bleeding now and again, but obviously it's very scary to us! I hope things stay well and baby continues kicking well.

This corona business is so scary. I work in a hospital in an infectious diseases ward (which is bad in itself!). I guess I would have to ask to move wards if we end up admitting any patients!
Also, my family booked a trip to Malaysia for this coming April. This trip was booked a year in advance! I've been really looking forward to it like a baby moon! What do I do?????

A friend is going to Japan on Weds. she consulted her doctor and he said there was a very low risk of contracting the virus and not to worry. I would be more concerned if older people travelling to affected areas

umabb · 01/03/2020 10:08

@Missgemini my parents travelled back to China a week ago and it was very smooth. They were asked to quarantine at home for a week and both of them are completely fine. However being on holiday is a different thing if you worry about things all the time while being there - won't be as enjoyable that's all. Hotels, airlines and travel agencies should support refund or maybe postponing holidays at this special time ? Perhaps just reach out and ask if you have a second thought x

@APD1981 i hope you’ve been managing to rest up x

@Missgemini i’m sure you’d be able to get a refund x

i’m really struggling to find decent maternity clothes. i’m petite in both height and build and have only put weight on on my bump, so maternity clothes are baggy everywhere but the bump and I can’t find any specific petite maternity clothes. have any of you had any experience with this?

Blizy · 01/03/2020 14:26

@KLS02 have you tried ASOS? I got some
Good fitting petite jeans.

KLS02 · 01/03/2020 14:43

@Blizy i will look now, thank you!! x

APD1981 · 01/03/2020 16:03

@KLS02 thank you, I have. There's been no more blood since the one lot yesterday and I've been taking it easy. Just been for a ride out in the car to an Artisan fair where some friends had a stall so had a little wander around that and then the obligatory tea and cake! Back on the couch with the cat again now 🐱

Rinoa · 01/03/2020 16:32

I really feel like this baby is really low (or maybe just my belly). I used to think it was just because I'm 5'10 that it seemed low (as I have a long torso) but now getting pelvic pains which makes me think it's because of the low weight? Getting worried and hope he doesn't come early !

@umabb yes I heard about Canary Wharf, just over the river from me! Bit worrying and hope they say yes to wfh. I prefer the office obviously as the desks will be more comfortable but rather be more safe and avoid dirty transport !

BabyBird20 · 01/03/2020 20:39

@rinoa mine is very similar, he's still really low down and a few people have commented on it! I have always had a little belly that sticks out though so wondering if baby is just pushing that out further on me! Have my 25 week midwife tomo so will ask her about it!

Rinoa · 01/03/2020 21:13

@BabyBird20 Id like to hear what she says to you! Same I always had a little belly so maybe that's it. have an appointment on Thursday so will ask as well!

AmyMaria2 · 01/03/2020 21:39

@Rinoa I've been diagnosed with pelvic girdle dysfunction because baby is so low down, it's not dangerous as long as your cervix are still closed like mine, just means baby is sitting very low and can be soo painful!! My bumps so low & massive lol!x

KLS02 · 01/03/2020 21:54

i don’t think it’s anything to worry about @Rinoa, some babies just sit a little bit lower. i carries DD quite low and she was overdue x

UKtoSK · 01/03/2020 22:52

@Rinoa I’m also carrying really low I think, my bump looks similar to yours. Photo is from a week ago at 22+2. I haven’t had any pelvic pain yet, but maybe when she gets a bit bigger it will start for me too.

@Missgemini hmm that’s really hard. Chances are if you go you’ll be fine, but will you be in densely populated areas or a more remote resort? We were supposed to go to Guam last week for our babymoon but cancelled because of the situation here, but things aren’t bad in the U.K. yet. I’d wait and see how things develop over the next couple of weeks and then decide.

Missgemini · 01/03/2020 23:07

Thanks for the input ladies. We are supposed to be going to a nice resort in Langkawi which is a remote place, I believe.
Apparently, we have a higher number of cases now in the UK than Malaysia.
I guess we'll wait and see what the situation is in April.

It's so exciting seeing all the bumps! We've come a long way ladies! I still feel so incredibly lucky to be in this position :)

Busylizzie85 · 02/03/2020 07:42

My bump has definitely got higher although I feel the baby mostly below my belly button still!
