I’m having a baby shower also in April! I was not going to buy a friend convinced me to and now I’m quite looking forward to it and being able to see everyone before the baby comes.
@Magpiefeather from day one people kept telling me ‘oh you have a big bump’ makes me worry all the time! Even the midwife at my 16 week appointment commented on the big bump so god knows what she will say tomorrow now I’m 25 weeks 🙈

chocolate26 · 24/02/2020 19:25

@BabyBird20 hope your first day back wasn't too hard! It must be tough having to teach a class of children when your not feeling great.

I'm having a baby shower at the end of April, I wasn't too keen on the idea but my mum and sister wanted to do one for me and my DH thought I should have one aswell. I'm only having close family and friends but I have a big family so there's going to be about 30 people there.

I'm only 23+2 but had my midwife appointment today, it went well and I got my maternity certificate to give to work. I heard baby's heartbeat again which was lovely 😊

peetieswie · 24/02/2020 19:29

Cried at work today. Been feeling miserable just due to struggling going up and down stairs (not massively but more than I ever have before!) and aching and being awake at night. My colleague drove me and in response to me being tired and quiet decided to tell me about how her friend did tap dancing up until 39 weeks and another woman she'd read about who'd done pole dancing the whole way through and even between contractions. She even said maybe if I'd done more exercise throughout my pregnancy I'd be feeling better. I got to work and another colleague bought me a hot chocolate cos she'd heard I was feeling down, and I immediately cried my eyes out!! She totally understood tho and was so sweet.

MissisBee · 24/02/2020 19:59

I managed to pull a muscle in my lower tummy/upper pelvis today. I was already a bit sore from carrying too much on Saturday, then lifted DS awkwardly this morning. Didn't think I was too bad until we got to Tesco, when I ended up bent double and could hardly walk. It was so sore!! Managed to get home, and it eased off a bit after lying with a hot water bottle for a while. Still sore now, but more localised. Better if I keep moving (or don't move at all 😆) but getting up from sitting is really bad! And now really struggling to lift DS at all, so I've got out of bath and bedtime tonight.

MissisBee · 24/02/2020 20:01

@peetieswie just ignore the chat of these superwomen. Last time, I was pregnant at the same time as Serena Williams, who was blooming winning grand slams, while I could hardly walk the length of myself. Your second colleague sound much more realistic!

chocolate26 · 24/02/2020 20:12

@peetieswie don't listen to that woman! Great for the lady who managed to do all that whilst pregnant but that's not manageable for most women! I know I definitely couldn't do that now and I'm someone who was very physically fit before becoming pregnant, I imagined I'd be doing all sorts but reality is with POTS (blood pressure/heart) issue, being Aneamic, awful acid and anxiety I'm doing well if I make it off the sofa at the moment 😂 it does make me feel weak when I see people managing really well but we are all so individual 😊 glad the other lady got you a hot chocolate, that was kind of her! We all need looking after from time to time.

UKtoSK · 24/02/2020 21:00

@Magpiefeather @Busylizzie85 I have the opposite problem where people tell me my bump looks small which makes me feel crap too. I feel like I’m always trying to dress in a way that accentuates it hoping that people will notice. Can’t wait for warmer weather and spring fashion 💕

I also feel like I’ve lost a lot of fitness this pregnancy. I was at the gym four times a week before but then was on semi-bedrest for weeks due to spotting in the first trimester and now my yoga teacher likes to tell me how little muscle I have and how soft I am 😡😡

peetieswie · 24/02/2020 21:24

Thanks for your support, guys. I'm used to being quite active even though my job does make me exhausted, so finding being less mobile really frustrating.

Pegase · 25/02/2020 06:42

@Magpiefeather I had that from my MIL who I saw the other day. First thing she said to me was - wow you are huge. Angry

Magpiefeather · 25/02/2020 07:09

@UKtoSK I would tell your yoga teacher to F off!!!l that’s a really unhelpful thing to say. I thought yoga was all about listening to your body and not pushing things? Don’t let that thought in! Your body is very busy making a new person.

I just would never comment on a person’s bump size. In fact size in general. I don’t see why anyone would!

UKtoSK · 25/02/2020 08:03

@Magpiefeather haha I wanted to. I won’t be going back for a while anyway since she’s had to close for at least a week because two of the 3 covid-19 cases in our city visited the same building for the doctors and chemist... I might not be going back at all if it starts spreading in our area.

umabb · 25/02/2020 13:19

I've got people commenting on me bump saying I'm almost same size with another pregnant lady in work whose due date is end March! Dear me.... however when I measured my bump last night it was almost 95cm (I was shocked!) maybe they are right ! Am I too big?? I was a Uk size 8 and and I've now gained 20kilo. Feel like a cow 🤪

@UKtoSK I watched the first episode of the Netflix series Babies last night with the husband. We really liked it. It's good to learn some of the scientific facts about babies which we know nothing about right now. Thanks for recommending x I've been following the virus news and it's such a shame to see its now spiking in a few countries outside of China... hopefully it will not impact your life too much :-/

Anybody booked the NCT antenatal classes? A couple of work colleagues were saying that they are amazing because they got to know other new parents who live near them and later on became good friends. Neither me or the husband are very social kind of person .. so don't know if we'd feel the same way. Plus we've booked the nhs classes for May.

24+2 today

Sorry - 10kilo that's what I've gained. Got a bit carried away there GrinBlush

@peetieswie when people tell me other pregnant women managing this and that I'd just say, yeah yeah I'm just too old to do all those things as well as having a baby. 🤣
People got to respect differences don't they ?? We are doing absolutely the best that we can. Ignore them xx

@umabb I said 'she was probably in her twenties.' and my friend said, 'no, she's 36.' I told another friend who is pregnant though and she set off into a hilarious angry rant so that's cheered me up!

Anyone else got names for baby? We call ours Little Boo. Even my mum calls it that.

BabyBird20 · 26/02/2020 06:44

I've had all sorts of comments like that... like 'when I was pregnant I loved to swim three times a week, kept up the gym and went running blah blah blah' and I can barely walk up the stairs anymore!! 😬😬

Mine is called Beanie as he was bean shaped when we first saw him and it's stuck!! 😂

24 + 2

AmyMaria2 · 26/02/2020 07:26

I can't walk round Asda without sitting down half way, good on the women who are swimming and pole dancing🤣
We just call him baby boy, I really wish there was a name we both liked still totally nameless x

26+0

umabb · 26/02/2020 07:42

No names used - no proper name decided and we don't want funny names to stick after birth 😂 so he's always been the he - "he kicked a lot today ! " Or just "baby". The worst day was when the husband came home and said "hello thing thing" 😳🤪

I was a keen swimmer, runner, and did pilates regularly before getting pregnant. I've now given up my gym membership and I just go to a pregnancy yoga class once a week. I try to get out for walks (stupid crappy weather) when I can but I just don't have the ability to go even half as far as I used to. I am finding, too, that at the moment the bottom and sides of my bump hurt when I do too much. Plus there's the hip pain from side sleeping!

Does anyone who thinks their baby has a bit of a pattern of movements now think that if your routine changes, so does baby's. I was off work for half term for nearly 2 weeks and during that time baby really got into a pattern of movement. I eat my dinner around the same time each night then go and sit on the couch. By 8.30-9 baby is normally going bonkers for a good hour at least. I went back to work yesterday and throughout the day felt lots of movement. Some nearly took me off my feet. Think baby was turning or something. Anyway, my usual 8.30 came and although I was getting odd little kicks there was not the crazy movement I get at that time. It's so hard not to worry because baby was moving and had been very active during the day but then wasn't as active during its usual pattern. So, do you think my change in routine yesterday could've changed baby's pattern?

APD1981 · 26/02/2020 07:50

Oh and I'm 25+3 if that makes a difference

Blizy · 26/02/2020 08:13

We call ours Emily as that's what ds has
Called the baby as soon as we told him about the pregnancy! Emily is a Thomas and friends character. That will not be her official name. Although we are thinking of using it as a middle name.
As for exercise.... I struggle
Just walking to the toilet, thanks to spd!

hjbows88 · 26/02/2020 09:08

Yes @APD1981 plus the baby is still small enough to easily change position and kick in a different place where you can’t feel it as easily. No pattern and no monitoring until 28 weeks. If you’re still feeling some movement every day then that’s normal and I wouldn’t worry. I’m a couple of weeks behind you but I’ll have a few days of predictable clockwork movement and then a total change for a day or two, then either back to same routine or a new one develops: this is why they say not to monitor until 28 weeks although I know all this is easier said than done! Don’t worry!

APD1981 · 26/02/2020 09:21

@hjbows88 it's so hard not to worry when I've been feeling movements since 17 weeks and so I've started to get used to baby's routine. When it changes it sets off worrisome thoughts! But baby has always been very active, if not at set times, so I do take comfort in that. I now get kicks all over my bump from under my ribs and in my pelvis. Sometimes at the same time where I think it must be a kick and a punch simultaneously!

Thanks for the advice x

Smiffette · 26/02/2020 09:32

I've managed to stick at the gym 3 times a week, but by no means is it easy!! And some weeks I only go once, I don't give myself a hard time about it and feel it won't be long until I stop entirely! I think because my job is desk based I've been trying to stay active outside of work as long as my body will allow!

I have my 25 week appointment today, I'm actually looking forward to it as I think she will start measuring my bump so I am keep to know where I sit!

25+2

umabb · 26/02/2020 09:44

I'm trying to figure out a pattern for example 8-9pm active hour which happens 5 out of 7 days I would say, but he'd be quieter if he had a more active day during the day. And if he had a busy day then he would not be kicking much when I turn overnight, which I do a lot and I'd feel him kicking whenever I turn. So kind of a patter but with a lot of variations.

24+3 today
