@magpiefeather great memory. I hope you have settled in now. Our move was delayed by a week probably best to allow the paint funes to settle down. Moving in the morning hence wide awake with excitement and job list in my head.

Bellybotton is also shallowing.
Has anyone noticed Baby going mad moving & kicking when you have a pillow under your bump or a tight wasteband? MyBaby kicks loads until I move the band. I think Ive created a princess already.

Happy Friday All

I have my glucose tolerance test today and I'm really nervous I'm going to get diagnosed with GD :( Plus I've woken up starving and can't eat til this afternoon! Can't wait for this morning to be over!

@hjbows88 thank you, I've just had a call from my doctor who's told me I'm also anemic so that's probably not helping either. He's prescribed me iron tablets for it so hoping they will help.

Smiffette · 21/02/2020 08:27

@APD1981 good luck! Let us know how it goes! Mines 03.03!

I heard her little heartbeat last night, I was getting more worried about not having felt her move yet so called triage! All good though and feeling reassured!

APD1981 · 21/02/2020 08:32

Thanks @smiffette. I'll update you. I think I phone up for results this afternoon.

Glad you got to hear your baby's heartbeat ❤️ We're practically the same gestation and I can't imagine not having felt my baby yet. Must be really worrying. Hopefully you get some kicks soon x

UKtoSK · 21/02/2020 11:14

@RPPs yes I’ve noticed during yoga classes when I’m in some positions that make my leggings tight on my lower belly she starts moving loads. Feels like she’s annoyed at me disturbing her and letting me know it 😆

Many of you may have seen the Covid-19 situation in South Korea on the news today, it’s currently top story on the BBC anyway... finished work yesterday so guess I’ll just be a hermit now until this all blows over.

I suddenly realised this morning that I’m having a baby in four months and have no idea how to look after one... anyone have any favourite newborn baby parenting book recommendations?

There’s a new documentary on Netflix called Babies, showing how babies develop over their first year of life. it’s a bit science heavy but interesting.

AmyMaria2 · 21/02/2020 14:23

@Smiffette glad you heard heart beat, it's so worrying not being able to feel baby isn't it, I'm 25+2 and still only feeling butterflies, I can't wait to just be able to feel him properly, do you feel anything inside? X

MissisBee · 21/02/2020 14:26

I've just realised my GTT appointment is on Mother's Day. What fun!

newbyxx · 21/02/2020 16:04

@AmyMaria2 @Smiffette I'm 24+6 and still only feeling 'flutters' and not very often and deffo not for things like change of position etc, reassured me that you both are close to my dates and haven't felt a lot. It's the anterior placenta. My cousin said she never felt big movements throughout her whole pregnancy with an anterior placenta it was only ever flutters so it can happen x

Smiffette · 21/02/2020 16:07

@APD1981 oh yes 1 day apart!! 😊

@AmyMaria2 no I haven't felt anything yet, discomfort in the afternoon when I've eaten as my stomach fills up and it's getting all squashed up now as she grows!

@newbyxx oh really that's useful to know! Although I do kind of want to feel some movement, feel like it's more reassuring and helps with bonding.

LillianFullStop · 21/02/2020 17:48

oh no @newbyxx that does sound stressful - I hope cancellations and replacements all smooth with your provider and they refund any unauthorised transactions. At least you had the bonus of hearing the heartbeat Thanks

@RPPs mine does that too and feels like he's trying to jump on the bed when I lay on my side with the bump laid on the bed. Jumping on the bed already!

Good luck @APD1981 - mine is in 3 weeks. Hope you pass with flying colours!

Just to update... I was told you get a phone call after 4pm if they've found diabetes BUT they also said, with it being Friday, and depending on how busy the labs are, it might be Monday. Basically, no news is good news. I've not had a phone call so I have a weekend reprieve! Hopefully I won't hear anything on Monday, either 🤞

@UKtoSK I've seen the news and it must be a worry for you. Stock up on as many supplies as you can and become a hermit!

@newbyxx really hope you can get all your money back. Can't imagine that stress!

AndddddHerewegoagain · 21/02/2020 18:35

@UKtoSK i think baby books are great to a point but all children are different. I would definitely look up the 4th trimester, it explains alot.
Do you have antenatal classes out there? It sounds silly but there's different ways of cleaning boys and girls.

If i can give any advice its to go with the crazy, laugh as much of the chaos off as you can, cry when you need to and remember you only have a newborn for 6 weeks.

Also worth reading up on colic, reflux, winding techniques but you'll nail it once little one is here Smile

Gigitree · 21/02/2020 20:43

Had my follow up 20 week scan today as two weeks ago baby was laying awkwardly and they couldn’t get all the measurements they needed, also her abdominal circumference was measuring 95th percentile so they wanted to double check that. So the sonographer today got all the measurements except he couldn’t get the back of the neck measurement, also he measured the abdominal circumference as 50th percentile. So he wants us to come back again in two weeks to have the abdominal circumference measured again. I’m pleased that they’re being diligent and want to make sure everything is ok, but I’m starting to feel like a bit of a freak. I don’t know anyone who’s had to go in 3 times for their 20 week scan Confused

mrssunshinexxx · 22/02/2020 07:30

@Gigitree me because an abnormality has been found but let's hope that's not the case for you

Gigitree · 22/02/2020 07:46

I’m sorry to hear that @mrssunshinexxx thank you ❤️

peetieswie · 22/02/2020 17:22

Think we've decided to do a baby shower. We'll, sort of. We're going to hire a room in a pub (for free) from about 4-7 on a Saturday and just invite people we know to come and have a drink with us. No games or anything. I don't mind if people bring us presents. I think we'd mostly like to do it to have a chance to see all our friends before we drop off the face or the earth for a bit, and to limit the mad rush of people to see us after baby is born. And catch up with people we haven't seen for a while too. We're doing it men and women.

Anyone else doing anything similar? I've booked a date for end of May but not sure if that's leaving it too late!! 😬

mrssunshinexxx · 22/02/2020 20:18

@peetieswie that sounds a nice laid back approach x

My friend wanted to throw me one and I was going to let her but I have changed my mind just want to keep it low key will go for a lunch with couple closest friends but that's it x

AmyMaria2 · 23/02/2020 17:02

@peetieswie that sounds like a lovely idea, we had a gender reveal in December with just close friends and family which was nice and then my sister in law wanted to do something so I agreed she could do a lunch, but it turned into a full blown baby shower with lots of presents games and food! Was lovely in the end but not what I would have planned lol. Glad it's over with now! Although it will be nice for you to see everyone just before baby comes x

BabyBird20 · 24/02/2020 06:34

Urgh I'm going back to work today after a month off sick!! Absolutely dreading it! Still feel awful and on antibiotics but so much better than I was! Just discovered I have parents evenings coming up and have to be in meetings til 8pm!! I'll be asleep half way through 😂😂
24 weeks today!

Cornishbumpkin · 24/02/2020 09:48

Good luck on your first day back @BabyBird20

Off on our baby moon tomorrow but airport there is currently closed due to sand storms Confused

Hope everyone is feeling ok.

LillianFullStop · 24/02/2020 09:59

That sounds lovely @peetieswie - I had one when I was pregnant with DD1 (my sister and one of my best friends threw me one). It's nice to be spoilt and have everyone wish you well to help you keep positive about the pregnancy. Also it might be the last time you are the centre of attention before the little one comes and steals your thunder for years to come!

Not having one myself as this is baby #2 but I definitely think it's a nice thing to do 😁

Hang in there @BabyBird20!

newbyxx · 24/02/2020 12:36

I'm really lucky and as I moved out of area I'm having two baby showers in April, I'm looking forward to them, only will do with my first baby to experience everything once and will be nice to feel supported and everyone's excitement💙

I'm really struggling at work, I have zero motivation to do anything when I'm there and I just feel safe when I'm at home, however silly that sounds! Finish for mat leave in 8 weeks and I'm officially counting down the days!

Magpiefeather · 24/02/2020 13:35

Why do people delight in telling you how huge you are??!!!! Just happened to me again and even though I know I’m NOT that huge and I’m not even really bothered about the weight gain, it still made me feel crap.

If people want to make pregnancy small talk can’t they go with, how are you feeling? Grrrr

BabyBird20 · 24/02/2020 17:10

Thanks @cornishbumpkin and @lillanfullstop. Just about made it through the day, wanted to cry by lunchtime with how tired and hungry I was!! Poor kids still don't know I'm pregnant though can't imagine it'll be long before they guess with the bump!! 😬😬
