@smiffette I've got to have the GTT, booking it for the 2nd week of March, I've heard it makes you feel rotten so not looking forward to it.

Smiffette · 15/02/2020 11:18

@Cornishbumpkin mines on the 3rd March, I'm Not looking forward to not being able to eat for so long.... I get a bit light headed if I don't eat when I get up, goodness knows how I'll feel after having bloods taken and the glucose drink 🙈

Gigitree · 15/02/2020 11:34

@Smiffette I’ve got to have the GTT too, really not looking forward to it! Mine will be at the end of March when I’m 28 weeks but it’s not booked in yet.

Has anyone bought their nursery furniture yet? We looked at John Lewis and mamas & papas yesterday and the ones in John Lewis felt like crap quality compared to m&p but the m&p ones were very expensive.
Do we have to just accept that these things are expensive if you want decent quality or is there somewhere else we can look? Ideally we want to physically see the quality in store rather than online.

Pegase · 15/02/2020 11:45

I've already had an early GTT and have to have another. I must admit I felt really terrible- more terrible after the drink. I had to just try and doze in the waiting room for the two hours as felt so disoriented.

Blizy · 15/02/2020 12:20

I'm not getting a sensor, I had one with my ds but found it made me even more anxious. He "slept" in a crib with a sleepyhead, I'm not buying a sleepyhead this time though.

I'll
Also be having a gtt at 24 weeks, my bmi is over 30 and my dad has t2 diabetes.

As for furniture, I bought a second hand mamas and papas dresser/changer from FB marketplace
For £30 when the same one was still in store for £600! I've bought a wardrobe from ikea and still to buy a cot (will probs be from ikea too).

APD1981 · 15/02/2020 12:41

I have to have the GTT test of Friday next week because I have PCOS so they said I'm higher risk for diabetes. I didn't realise it'd make me feel ill though. I was going to go on my own but maybe I'll get hubby to come in case I don't feel I can drive home. Don't want to risk it x

Gigitree · 15/02/2020 13:06

@Blizy oh that’s a great deal! I’ve said to the hubby we should look for second hand deals but he’s being a snob about it, and I’m like fine ok But if you don’t want second hand hand and you want good quality you’re going to have to pay more for it!

Glad I’m not the only one in here with a BMI over 30 @blizy - have you had to see a consultant or is your BMI low enough that you weren’t referred?

AmyMaria2 · 15/02/2020 13:09

@APD1981 I have pcos as well and also baby measuring big so I'm high risk for it as well, mines booked in 12th March, think I'll take my partner with me so he can drive x

APD1981 · 15/02/2020 13:32

@Amymaria2 when did you find out baby was measuring bigger? I haven't been told anything and I looked at the charts from my 20 weeks scan and they all seem in normal parameters. My bump has gone massive this past week or so and I've been panicking it's because of baby being too big/having Gestational diabetes! Really hope I don't have it!

Magpiefeather · 15/02/2020 13:37

Also meant to say in my last post I hope your house is finished soon @RPPs. Our flooring people went right down to the wire - finished 12 hrs before we moved in!!

Zoey92 · 15/02/2020 13:39

With us being in a 2 bed flat I've no idea what to buy sleep wise tbh, its a reasonable size flat. Do i get the next to me, or just stick with a moses basket? I will be ordering the sleepyhead though

Magpiefeather · 15/02/2020 13:40

@Gigitree we have a mamas and papas cotbed from dd, it has been amazing and the quality is excellent. I wish we’d have bought it second hand though! You can save a LOT and get the same thing!

re nursery furniture we are not buying anything for baby’s room that’s specifically “nursery”. We are just getting a normal chest of drawers to put changing mat on top, and hopefully at some point we will do a built in wardrobe as baby’s room is a funny shape. We have cotbed from dd and glider chair which I need to recover as it’s looking a bit tatty.

newbyxx · 15/02/2020 13:48

I've got my 25 week app on Wednesday I also need to have gtt test as my dad has type 1 diabetes hoping I don't have it! X

Blizy · 15/02/2020 13:50

@Gigitree I am consultant led, although it's because of a precious stillbirth and the high probability that my baby will have Down syndrome. My weight has never been mentioned at any appointment (except when discussing gtt, but that was mainly because of my dad).

MissisBee · 15/02/2020 14:19

I'm having the GTT too due to a family history. Had it last time and it really wasn't too bad. The worst was the waiting room was really hot. Quite looking forward to it this time for the 2 hours toddler-free time!! I'd rather have it than not - in some countries they screen everyone, regardless of risk factors.
Not getting a sensor here, and didn't have one before. I think they can both set off false alarms and give false reassurance

Pegase · 15/02/2020 17:40

I was able to drive after GTT- just went to hospital café after and ate and gathered my senses for a bit! Don't know why I reacted so badly- I got a good result!

Doubl · 16/02/2020 09:32

Hi all, just catching up!!

With movements I think we're all in the same boat! I find he does have quiet days which usually come after he's had a very active day, I've also found he's quiet after I've been to the midwife too, I go weekly and I don't think he enjoys being prodded!

Also having a GTT, I'm expecting not to feel great as I find blood tests wipe me out generally. Just going to be prepared with my iPad or Kindle to keep me occupied

@APD1981 my bump has also popped a lot more this week! I think if they've measured regularly on the 20 week scan, there's no immediate concerns. You'll get an idea of how you're measuring when they start doing the fundal height in midwife appointments

APD1981 · 16/02/2020 09:54

Thanks @Doubl. I looked at my chart and things range from 50th to 85th percentile so I assume that's all OK from 20 week scan. My 25 week MW appt doesn't happen until I'm 26+2 so longer to wait to find out if I'm growing as expected!

APD1981 · 16/02/2020 09:56

Anyone else look forward to waking up the morning you move onto the next week? I'm 24 weeks today (big milestone!) and hubby and I love reading all the new sets of updates on my pregnancy apps. It's become a bit of a ritual. I love finding out how big it is this week and what's developing. Are we really sad?!?! 😂

umabb · 16/02/2020 10:35

Hi ladies ! Thanks for the information on cots/baskets/sensors! Super useful for me who has 0 experiences in these things. I've been putting things in shopping baskets in amazon and taking screenshots of things you mentioned so I'd remember when we start to buy stuff!

23wk today and baby was mega active yesterday and last night ! @APD1981 same with us, the husband loves reading the changes at the start of the week and he'd tell me all about it hehe.

APD1981 · 16/02/2020 12:26

@umabb why not create an Amazon Baby wishlist? If you then buy things for baby off the list Amazon send you free things!

umabb · 16/02/2020 13:17

@APD1981 oh really? Sounds brilliant! Let me check it out thanks x

Smiffette · 16/02/2020 13:34

@APD1981 I love moving into the next week it's so exciting.
I'm 24 weeks tomorrow 😃😃

APD1981 · 16/02/2020 13:36

It's exciting, isn't it?! You're only a day behind me @smiffette ☺️

Smiffette · 16/02/2020 13:40

@APD1981 yep 😊 it is like another little milestone complete!

Feels like since 20weeks the time is flying by! Which is great and a little scary!
