Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying i don’t worry because I do but that’s partly why I’m forcing myself not to monitor it as I know I’ll just get myself into a state worrying all of the time. I had loads of activity on Wednesday throughout the day including at times I don’t normally feel anything but yesterday and today have been quieter (but have still had some movement so taking that as enough of a sign!)

If I felt nothing at all for a full day I would probably call or go in to the assessment unit or community midwife drop in to hear heartbeat as I’ve felt something every day for weeks now. But as long as I get something each day I’m trying not to worry!

BabyBird20 · 14/02/2020 13:04

@Magpie21 we've been given a next to me crib which I'm keen to try, my friend swears by it making her life easier for bf in the night. Will prob also have a Moses basket for downstairs naps! (Fingers crosses he'll be a sleeper!!)

newbyxx · 14/02/2020 13:11

@hjbows88 that's exactly how I'm thinking aslong as I feel something from him a day I'm not monitoring. I've noticed the pattern I thought I had a couple weeks ago has changed already so it's true what they say about the movements untill 28 weeks.

I've got a wooden rocking crib for next to the bed as i want to get sensor pads for under the mattress to montior his breathing etc and you can't use these if your using the next to me Crib's or Moses basket as it has to be on a hard base for it to work properly. Bit of thought for Any of you who are getting the sensor pads Also.

Very excited to be hitting 24 weeks tomorrow another milestone 😊

Cb31 · 14/02/2020 14:28

@newbyxx 24 weeks for me tomorrow too!

I got a chicco next to me crib in the closing down Mothercare sale. Think I'm going to get a Joie Kubbie for them to nap in downstairs because then it doubles up as a travel cot.

Blizy · 14/02/2020 14:42

I have a next to me.
I'll be using a white wooden crib for down stairs naps, I have it left from my ds whom refused to sleep in it Hmm

hjbows88 · 14/02/2020 16:25

Next to me is also my current fave. I had favoured then snuzpod but think the size and design of the next to me is better. I didn’t know that about the sensors though @newbyxx - I was hoping to use sensors so not sure what that means for me now. Will have to look into options.

Getting a sleepyhead for downstairs naps I think. Can just pop him/her in that on the sofa and take it to other peoples houses etc. I was a bit worried about the SIDS risk bit think sleepyhead is OK and will only be using for daytime naps and I’ll still be in the room with the baby etc.

Same as you re change in pattern - I get used to certain movements and times for a few days and then it seems to change so trying not to pay too much attention to it all!

22 weeks tomorrow for me - time is certainly ticking on for us all now!

❤️❤️

mrssunshinexxx · 14/02/2020 17:25

@chocolate26 I'm getting the snuzpod also with a sleepyhead too if she likes it of course x

chocolate26 · 14/02/2020 17:45

@mrssunshinexxx yes I'm getting a sleepyhead too! Mainly for downstairs on the sofa and we can easily take it to other peoples houses.

Is anyone getting one of those baby bouncer/swings that move and play music? I'm unsure whether we need one of those or just a normal one that just bounces?

LillianFullStop · 14/02/2020 18:33

I had the snuzpod, sleepyhead and Bjorn bouncer for DD1 so will be sticking to those this time as well.

I also have the Medela swing from last time but might need replacement tubes, valves, etc

Pegase · 14/02/2020 19:50

We've bought the SnuzPod - like the fact it blends in with normal furniture as well as being cosleeper style. What is the Sleepyhead for? Didn't have one with number 1 and not really sure what it is needed for.

TwittleBee · 14/02/2020 20:20

Just catching up on thread now but saw the pod/nest chat and wondered if you ladies saw that Purflo have bought out the first certified safe for sleeping after night pod/nest today? purflo.com/ I am tempted by it but then we managed without one with DS

MissisBee · 14/02/2020 20:58

We've a Moses basket and a cot. Loads of people in my last group had next to mes and sleepy heads. It was when ours were all older that they came out with advice they shouldn't be used for overnight sleeping. We used the pram carry cot during the day with DS. We have a wee bouncy chair, but didn't use it that much, he'd never sleep in it.

RPPs · 14/02/2020 21:04

Just catching up. I have had the same experience over the last 30 hours. I had loads of movement and kicks even to the point of tapping my tummy and getting kicks back. Then I had a bath yesterday. Quite warm/hot and Baby has only kicked a bit. Its so worrying and distracting. But Im worried the bath may have done something.

mrssunshinexxx · 14/02/2020 21:32

@chocolate26 I really like the look of them chairs but they are quite pricey new? May get second hand one . I'll be using sleepyhead for night time providing she likes it I think as a parent you make a choice as to what you consider safe lots of people use them for night time but obviously the guidelines have to be put out there the same tragic thing could happen in a day time nap x

AmyMaria2 · 14/02/2020 21:49

I've been away at a spa hotel all week, for my birthday and Valentine's Day and although it's been relaxing I have probably been walking more (round the grounds) eating at different times and generally just changing my usual routine, and I haven't felt baby move much at all, I'm hoping now I am home he will go back to normal which wasn't much anyway, still nothing strong enough to feel on the outside.

If he doesn't start moving again I'm going to go epu Monday x

BabyBird20 · 14/02/2020 22:43

I was really tempted by a sleepyhead as my friend has given me her old one but have been out off by the lullaby trust guidance now! https//www.lullabytrust.org.uk/the-lullaby-trust-issues-warning-about-some-popular-baby-sleeping-products-sold-in-high-street-stores/

Think I'd still use it for supervised naps downstairs during the day or when out at others houses, seems ideal for that!

Rinoa · 14/02/2020 23:21

Didn't know that about the sensor pads! But great to know as we don't have a lot of room for a full size cot.

Any sensor recommendations ?

Busylizzie85 · 15/02/2020 04:31

4am is the new 5am apparently for waking up 😴 I’m happy on one hand as she was kicking about but I do wish I could have one night of full sleep!!

sarahlounich · 15/02/2020 06:25

Just caught up on the cot/crib chat. We've been given a snuzpod from my sister in law so just going to get a new mattress for that. For downstairs I was thinking of Moses basket and/or sleepyhead 😕

As for movements, mine are very pronounced now, hubby feels him regularly and my sister managed to a feel a little kick the other night although he refused to perform as much as he normally does in the evening!!

Is anyone else feeling tired again? I don't know if it's because we've had a busyish few weeks but I've felt tired by 3pmish. Maybe it's just the 10pm post love island bed time taking its toll 😂

We've booked a little two night baby moon at a spa hotel for the end of March and also have a family trip to centre parcs at the beginning of March so definitely looking forward to those.

Decorating the nursery next week- very excited to get this done and the furniture in....how's everyone else's going?

25 week midwife appointment on Wednesday- from what I've read it's another quick one with some people saying it's just urine sample and blood pressure..... I was hoping she's have a little measure to see how he's measuring!

24+4

Cb31 · 15/02/2020 06:53

Is anyone not getting a sensor? I wasn't even considering it to be honest. And never heard of anyone I know using one, but maybe it's just not something people mention. I feel like if I talked to my mum about it she'd just think I was being neurotic but I think that's just because you couldn't get them when she had us x

TwittleBee · 15/02/2020 07:21

Yeah that's why it's interesting that Purflo released their new one @BabyBird20 which I think Lullaby trust will have to recognise does actually meet all the same standards as a mattress now etc.

We never got one with DS but tempted this time @Cb31

mrssunshinexxx · 15/02/2020 07:39

@Cb31 no I'm not getting one I think everything with parenting is extremely individual and personal but i do think you can go too far I think trying to be abit laid back is good for mum and baby as someone said you never used to be able to but them xx

peetieswie · 15/02/2020 08:02

I've got a sleepyhead second hand and will wash it all, but will probably try not to use it first and just use next to me. Bought an owlet second hand as I know how I am with niece and uther peoples kids, I'll be paranoid they've stopped breathing every time they're asleep!

Smiffette · 15/02/2020 09:15

I'm not getting a sensor.

I have my 25 week appointment a week on Wednesday... I'll be 25+2 then!I thought that's when they do start measuring your bump as that's when it starts on the chart in the pregnancy notes...

Is anyone else having to have the GTT? My Dad has type 2 Diabetes so I have to be tested despite not triggering any of the other areas ie BMI over 30, having it myself

23+5

Magpiefeather · 15/02/2020 09:50

Hello all just catching up!

Moving day was yesterday, all went ok with no major distasters and we are so happy to be in, but knackered as expected! Dd (2y 8m) was amazing and went to sleep straight away in her new bed. She looked so tiny in a big single bed but I thought it was a good opportunity to reclaim the cotbed for baby’s room.

We have snuzpod from last time, going to use that with a new mattress. Dd slept in snuzpod with sleepyhead inside, for night time and we just carried the sleepyhead downstairs for daytime naps, or in the pram. Will do the same with this baby but might be tempted to try without the sleepyhead first to see if they’ll sleep on the normal snuzpod mattress. Although when we transitioned dd to the cotbed without the sleepyhead at about 8 months she was absolutely fine and it was difficult to wean her off it.

If you’re getting a sleepyhead don’t be clueless first time parents like us and forget to take the cardboard insert out! First night dd slept on hard cardboard even though it says “remove before use” in massive letters.

Not going to get a sensor. I personally feel like it would make me more anxious not less.
