Omg ladies!!!! My son has got chicken pox!!!!!!! What do I do?! I've had them before but so worried as I'm obviously 26 weeks pregnant!

sazzlerazzle · 06/02/2020 16:53

@november90 definitely ring your midwife, just to be on the safe side, although I’m sure you’re fine if you’ve already had it. There’s some advice here on the nhs website www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/what-should-i-do-if-pregnant-and-been-near-someone-with-chickenpox/

But ring your midwife or GP anyway just in case xx

november90 · 06/02/2020 17:12

Thank you! I've spoke to the community midwife and they said as I've had it before there's no risk but if I start to feel unwell to contact them :(

sazzlerazzle · 06/02/2020 17:45

Don’t worry @november90 just keep an eye on things , you’ll know if you’re not feeling yourself and if you have any concerns just call them again. I hope your little boy is ok! x

We got referred to a growth scan today at the 25w appointment as bump was measuring bottom 10 percentile. Anyway, scan showed that all is well and baby is actualy 59 percentile. However, I am looking at the notes now and noticing it says I have an anterior placenta, whereas the 20w scan says left posterior placenta. Surely the placenta is attached to the uterus and can't move. Does anyone have any experience with this? I wonder if one of the sonographers just got it wrong - which in itself is worrying.

sao81 · 06/02/2020 19:57

@woollycat exactly the same as me! Scan at 19 weeks says left lateral, scan at 22 weeks says anterior. At my 19 week scan she explained it was at the front and towards the left, was on the low side but not covering. She said as your stomach grows, the placenta moves with it. So its not necessarily the placenta detaching and reattaching, just us getting bigger, hope this makes some sense!

@november90 if you had chickenpox then you are ok. funnily enough when i was a kid no one in our house had it. so when i was 11 i caught from our neighbours kid and passed on to my dad and my mum who was pregnant at the time ( they never had it before) how unlucky! my sibling was born fine! no long term effect.

on a more negative note😫 i've had an awful day at work! i was sobbing and literally distraught - found out this evil person ( that i reported for harassing me) is changing their shifts to now working everyday WITH me when before they were once a week only! no one bothered to give me a heads up and just found out by chance! there's an investigation ongoing and still the managers thought it's reasonable to approve this😑😑😑 i’m not sure i'll get any sleep tonight. so if no sleep then i'll have to call in sick tomorrow 😓😿 and this makes me feel crap about myself already

mrsf1204 · 07/02/2020 07:55

Oh @facevalue that's appalling !! Don't go in!

I'm going to my GP today as I'm feeling lower and lower and feel like I'm heading for rock bottom again so I want to try and get on top of it now. Mine is all work related stress. I have 3 weeks left but I don't know how I'm going to do those 3 weeks.

woollycat · 07/02/2020 07:55

@sao81 ah thank you - that's reassuring!

We also got referred to the fetal medicine unit for a cardiologist to listen to baby's heart because the midwife thought she could hear the heart skip a beat sometimes - called ectopic beat. Googling it, it seems like that's most likely going to be ok, but we are still a little anxious. They are yet to give us an appointment date with the cardiologist. Anyone with any experience of this? 🙏🏻

november90 · 07/02/2020 09:58

Thanks for the chicken pox advice everyone!thankfully my little boy is happy and well, just spotty, today ❤️
My mum had chicken pox after I had it when I was a baby and she's just found a few spots on her face! Keeping everything crossed it's just a coincidence otherwise I'll be so worried about catching it!! 😩😩😩

Lifesforlivingandloving · 07/02/2020 11:13

@woollycat
I'm currently on a monitor too for the same reason X they haven't yet mentioned about referring or anything x midwife thought the same ectopic heartbeat as it was jumping like you said
Fingers crossed it's all ok for us x

sazzlerazzle · 07/02/2020 11:46

Hello ladies. Just had my 28 week check and everything seems ok apart from the midwife thinks there might be more water around the baby than would be expected so they’ve booked me a scan this afternoon (so impressed they’ve fitted me in so quickly) She did say it was nothing major to worry about but something they keep an eye on. Anyone else experienced this?

Also suspected low iron and bloods have been taken and sent off. Would explain why I’m so tired all the time 😫

woollycat · 07/02/2020 13:15

@Lifesforlivingandloving how are they monitoring you? My appointment with the cardiologist just came through. It's Monday - does mean waiting through the weekend but I wasn't expecting anything sooner. Fingers crossed for both of us 🤞🏻

Caspianberg · 07/02/2020 13:31

Have just finished 2nd course of antibiotics for an infection in this pregnancy so far. But seems to have sorted it for now.
Glucose test came back clear, as did Toxoplasmosis ( they apparently retest both at 32 weeks as well here)

Does anyone know if there is some kind of official list given by hospitals nearer the time on what you are supposed to take with you? I hear from friends that hospitals seem to vary greatly in what they provide with some providing all swaddle blankets, nappies, cleaning cloths, towels etc and some providing nothing. I don't want to have packed way to much or too little of something.

sao81 · 07/02/2020 16:17

@caspianberg id maybe ask your community midwife what is provided. I know that my hospital has a list online for what to pack, Ill get you the link!

Help wity MATB1 form! I've been on at my manager for weeks to submit my maternity request to HR. It needs to be notified by next week as I am 25 weeks Tuesday. She has said she requires my original MATB1 form to scan onto the system. I don't feel comfortable giving the original incase it goes missing, does it have to be the original or can it be a copy?

OP posts:
Caspianberg · 07/02/2020 16:19

@sao81 - thank you, that list is helpful. I will ask at next appointment.

May2311 · 07/02/2020 16:28

@sao81 - my employer needed the original. I just copied the original so I had a copy of it should I need it. Xxx

sao81 · 07/02/2020 16:32

@May2311 ah great thanks! I don't know if its my hormones but I just feel like work isn't going well at the moment and I don't trust things to be done correctly

OP posts:
May2311 · 07/02/2020 16:40

@sao81 tbh I didn't trust my manager to do mine properly either!! I actually sat with her whilst she did it online and then posted the MATB1 form to HR recorded delivery myself 😂 I think we all want to know it gets done correctly as if it isn't we are only going to find out in the most busiest time when our new arrivals have just arrived so we don't want to be stressing with that!! Xxx

Lifesforlivingandloving · 07/02/2020 17:09

@woollycat
Mine is Monday too at 2.15
I am gutted have to wait all the weekend and worry but considering they only detected it today I think it's quite a quick app x
They haven't yet said if it's a scan I'll be having or just a consolation x how about you? X

sao81 · 07/02/2020 17:11

@May2311 thats exactly how I feel! I have only worked there since April, I need to of worked there a year to qualify for 6 months full salary, so I'm literally going off the day after I hit 1 year 😂 but I've had to find all of this information myself, I'm worried shes going to mess something up and I'll lose out on alot of money. Theres over a grand difference per month if it isn't done correctly so im stressing! Xx

Sunshine8888 · 07/02/2020 17:33

@sao81 they need the original, HR lost mine for ten days which was not ideal 🙄 luckily they’ve found it now!!

So just had my 28 week check up and all looks good. Had blood tests so waiting on results for those but all other tests fine!

Baby has moved into head down position 🙈 and my bump is measuring bang on average still so that’s good! Lovely little heartbeat heard again 💕

woollycat · 07/02/2020 20:46

@Lifesforlivingandloving ours is at the fetal care unit and the midwife did mention a scan and a cardiologist - not quite sure what it'll be. Yes, I am also just thankful they could fit us in on Monday. From everything I have read, I am hoping it's nothing to worry about. Will be thinking of you on Monday and will let you know how it goes.
