OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh my goodness gracious me, we've been busy today!!!

I've got visitors arriving shortly so I just thought I'd post quickly then I'll be back later with a proper catch up!

Went to the antenatal clinic at the hospital today to see the consultant. After having waiting for over an hour, managed to see him! I've got protein in my wee so I've had to do another sterile sample (they'll contact me with the results); I've got oedema on my bump which would explain why it has been tender; baby is measuring too big so I've been booked in for a scan in two weeks time; they want to monitor my bp so I'm now on weekly visits. Apparently my bp is fine atm but I don't have much confidence in the lady who took it tbh!!

Love the new thread - well done!

Catchy'all later!!! xoxoxoxo

Good evening! I go aaway for a ltittle nap and the board comes alive, starting to get a complex
I must admit i think i am in complete denial as well. Still need to pack bag, get moses basket, wash clothes, put up cot, get nappies etc, you name it it i have to do it
my bump is still really high too, and LO has just found my ribs, v.comfy. MW wants to see me again next week, what for i dont know, maybe its his high head maybe its the glucose who knows.
I still feel like i would be jinxing things if i get things ready, does anyone else feel the same???

Hello!

Am I weird in being the only one who is getting stuff done/ packed?
I wasnt too fussed until last week - until then I had assumed that all would go to plan (incl. the birth plan i have in my mind, its my first so excuse the naivety) - now I think anything could happen - babies are very unpredictable - and I want things ready.
Kelmcd - LOL - it probably does mean that this one wont put in an appearance til past 42 weeks!

Holly - welcome back. We did an email to an account i setup. Picklesgalore at gmail dot com. Mnetters have sent in mnet handle, real name, due date, location, email address and mobile number. If you mail me, can add you to the list and send out the one with the rest of us on it - there are about 22 of us on it now. Plus no one has popped - yet.

MrsM - I would defo insist on a scan at some point, I am never convinced that palpitation alone defines how a baby is lying - it so depends on how experienced the MW is. You still have time though - you are starting to sound a little worried about it all.

Kyala - sorry you had a rubbish nights sleep again. I have probably jinxed myself for tonight now! Am sure the hospital will be fine, although understand you must be feeling disappointed. I am suffering from carrot cake/ scone envy! How was the cake?

Edie - I avoid flat pack arguments by putting the items together myself. Stokke stuff arrived yesterday and by the time DH came home, I had assembled it all. He really does despair of me!

Hello to everyone else - hope all the aches and pains are ok.

canadianmum · 22/08/2007 19:50

Have been doing some research re: OP babies. Seems like loads turn in labour and then labour is fine, others hold on and create a longer and more painful labour - yikes! Have spent the day leaning over with bump hanging out as much as possible, but am also thinking this bubba has a mind of his/her own and will do what it likes!!

mrsmar - they really should scan you, I think that is rather a poor show. Unless that midwife can say "definitely head down" then I would be concerned too. Which consultant are you under at George's? You could ring the consultant's clinic and try to get an appt. that way. I was referred by my midwife (for my previous pre-eclampsia) but you might be able to get round that. As for the gp, I had one who didn't have a clue and one who was brilliant (a woman with 2 children ). You need to know!!!!

lou031205 · 22/08/2007 19:59

Sorry for the massive delay in posting. After a repeat scan on Friday 10th Aug, I was booked for induction on Sat 11th aug.

Induced 10.30am, waters broken 5pm, and JASMINE ZOE born 01.00am on Saturday 12th August, at 35+3 weeks.

No stitches, and she is just gorgeous, weighing 5lb 6oz.

Been in and out of hospital with her due to Jaundice, and going back tomorrow for more bloods, but well worth it!!

Hope you are all well,

Lou

TwitmonstEr · 22/08/2007 20:03

YYYYYYAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!

congratulations, gorgeous names, well done to both of you [and dh/p too]

YYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

Chattyhan · 22/08/2007 20:05

Lou - CONGRATULATIONS - you are officially the first. Hope you are doing well xx

emj23 · 22/08/2007 20:10

Congratulations lou031205!!! Hope you are both well, and what a beautiful name you have given your LO!

I can't believe there are over 80 messages on this thread already, loving the title by the way, good work Twitmonster.

Thanks for the link about TENS hire, I didn't try it when I had DS but I'm thinking about it this time, do any of you know whether they really do anything? I'm a tiny bit sceptical as I've heard lots of people say it just feels like an annoying tickly feeling

Chattyhan · 22/08/2007 20:10

Hi holly - glad you had a good holiday and didn't give birth in france!

Dal - Thanks for sorting the email and you're not the only one organised - i think i'm all ready - clothes washed, bag packed, moses basket gathering dust!

toadstool - glad you're home and i wish you an uneventful time until the baby arrives!

Hello to everyone else

36+3

MrsMar · 22/08/2007 20:19

Congratulations Lou!! That's fantastic news and so exciting to have our first Sept baby (albeit in August!) I hope you are all well and settling in at home

Dal - don't worry, I'm not too stressed about the whole breech thing, sorry if I gave that impression I'm just such a control freak I WANT TO KNOW NOW!!! Can you imagine how much of a pita I was as a child??!!

Glad you had a good holiday Holly.

Canadianmum - I think the consultants name is Mr Chandrahanan (but it's hand written so not terribly clear) I will definitely follow up to get a definite answer. The mw was probably right, it is her job afterall, I just wasn't convinced by her! Dh is keen for me to get a definite answer, and they can only say no can't they?

I hope everyone else is well... it's exciting now that babies are starting to arrive. Two of my ante natal class have had girls on saturday which is exciting too, it's all getting very real. My sister brought me back to earth with a bump today when she said I could potentially have 6 weeks to go. SIX!!?? SIX!!?? Now that would finish me off!

I'm off to watch England Germany... we're already one up! Come on Becks!!

xxx

dal21 · 22/08/2007 20:20

CONGRATS LOU!!! You are the first! Lovely name! Hugs to you all!

FlossALump · 22/08/2007 20:22

A lovely news! Well done Lou! Lovely names and a very respectable weight for being so early! Really good to hear back from you. Hope the jaundice is cleared up now, remember finding that quite traumatic with DS!!

Getting lots of niggly pains this evening. My bump seems to have gone totally solid!

dal21 · 22/08/2007 20:25

MrsM - i totally understand. I just have to wait another week before I really understand my options. If the growth scan is fine and bub has turned - then am on for a normal birth. If not - then not. My brain is very confused as was full preparing for vag birth - just gas and air.
I don't do grey very well - like black and white so have told brain to press pause before thinking about it all more!

Norfolkbumpkin · 22/08/2007 20:27

I haven't posted for a good while so just thought I might give a bit of an update. I was 38 weeks exact yesterday (Due date 4th Sept, 1st baby) and had a show. Initially v.worried and anticipated this may be it but nothing has happened since. I see quite a few of you have experienced the same thing so I feel this is quite the norm at this stage. I had my 38wk check with the doctor today and I advised him of what had happened. He said that this means birth could be imminent and would expect within the next week. He also rumbled the fact that I had been painting the skirting/woodword yesterday as I had left paint in my hair. Got a thorough telling off and advised that if I didn't want the baby to come yet painting or in fact doing anything at all is not the best way to go. He prescribed watching what my cats do all day and do the same (nothing at all, just laying about dozing!) I will try my best as I am particularly hung up on having a Sept baby so it wont be the youngest in it's year at school.

TwitmonstEr · 22/08/2007 20:32

I noticed alot of show questions earlier and have asked lulumama if she would pop over and tell us about them if that's ok.
{like I said I haven't ever had one lol]

MrsMar · 22/08/2007 20:33

Dal! That's a perfect way of phrasing it, I don't do grey either! I hope all your growth scans and checks go well. It's really hard thinking about two birth scenarios at this late stage isn't it? I'm definitely keeping up with the perineal massage though, it would be just my luck the baby turned and went into a perfect LOA position and I'd have a perineum like old boot leather!! Yuk!

Welcome back norfolkbumpkin - take it easy on the painting (says she who's been going around the house like a demented woman with paintbrush in hand - been touching up bits the decorator missed !!)

FlossALump · 22/08/2007 20:33

I just can't get worried about baby being oldest/youngest. I did at one point and was saying about it to work collegues. It just so happened that both the people I was talking to were august babies. One was a dr and the other was a dietitian! What will be will be. In our financial situation an august baby and only two year's difference in schooling will make a big difference to us. How cold does that sound? Basically for us, pluses and minuses either way!

MrsMar · 22/08/2007 20:33

Great idea Twit.. she'll never get away from us... I've got a billion questions!!

TwitmonstEr · 22/08/2007 20:36

lol bootleather.
poor lulu, she hasn't replied yet....
Perhaps if kelmcd would be so kind lol

MrsMar · 22/08/2007 20:38

we could start a new thread... imminent births and too many questions!!!

FlossALump · 22/08/2007 20:40

Oh yes, and my pram arrived. The pramette. I like it very much. DS unfortunatly firmly believes it is for him and gets devastated every time we tell him it's not... although he can ride on the fun step... [eeek]

MrsMar · 22/08/2007 20:42

Enjoy the pram Floss. I agree with you about the August thing too, I'm such a terrible mummy I would LOVE this baby to come now... the thought of another four weeks, and potentially 6 if I go over is killing me!

FlossALump · 22/08/2007 20:46

I know. Its a horrible thought. And yet at the same time I'm not ready not to be pregnant anymore either. Does that make sense?? Desperately trying not to expect anything early - its been the downfall of many of my friends and I always say the same thing to them!! Easier said than done now though.

lulumama · 22/08/2007 20:47

am here ! what would you like to know ?

TwitmonstEr · 22/08/2007 20:50

lol

Some people are describing a whitish yellowish mucus [snot if you will] Is this a bit of show or something to be checked out.
