kyala - why weren't you watching X-Factor!? We are religious about watching it and have finger food every Saturday night for the duration of the whole series - we've even turned down social events for it LOL! (not that DH goes to any social events). Hope you manage to get some sleep - I have a bottle of Gaviscon on my bedside table as well as one downstairs and one in my handbag LOL! By the way, what is in cheese triangles? I'm worried now!!!!

kinki - bless you, what a commotion!!! I had been wondering where you were/if you were OK etc. Really impressed with your improvisation with the nappies! Hope you're feeling OK - big hugs to you!!!

HIWBB - yay! on your kitchen finally being finished!! We had ours done a couple of years ago and it took me ages to get everything put away, let alone in the right places! Instead of polish and dusters, why not try a damp flannel or cloth to make it quicker and easier?

dal - so pleased to hear about growth and that you think lo might be turning - keep us posted!?

umalushka - I had a bad night last night too so I really feel for you Hope you get some sleep tonight xx

Pennypops - thanks, yes we went to the Lido today and it was glorious. I'm so pleased to have topped up my tan but I'm knackered! I took an extra chair to keep my feet up but they still ballooned so I kept going for a dip in the cool water which was bliss!!!! Saw a few other bumps there and wondered if any of them could have been mn'ers lol!

canadianmum - so glad you've reached the 37 week milestone!

Well, because of our long day at the lido, my bh's have been worse this evening - I've even had to breathe through some of them! DH stayed at home and did a few bits including tidying up and hoovering bless him! My dad popped over and had a cup of tea with him and has offered to buy him a motorbike so he can get to work when lo is born (so I don't have to drive him). Not sure how I feel about that as I'm not a lover of motorbikes but I can see they are trying to help us out etc.

Love to all - I'm off to the BBQ tomorrow and I'm still thinking of making a sign so I don't have to keep repeating the same old conversation LOL! (yes, 4 weeks to go, not its not twins, yes I'm measuring big, yes there's only 1, SHE WILL ARRIVE WHEN SHE ARRIVES!!!!).

(((((((((((hugs))))))))))))

PLP (36 weeks!) xxx

PurpleLostPrincess · 25/08/2007 22:21

OOoooooh, Ellen - I'll email you now! xx

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 25/08/2007 22:47

Hi everyone,

Keep trying to keep up with this thread but keep getting interrupted by DD. Only 2 weeks of the school hols left thank goodness. She's totally gorgeous but does not stop yapping for a moment!!

Kinki - You really made me laugh with the nappy and Xmas table cloth story. Please keep us posted. I had no idea either that the water kept replenishing itself.

I feel so huge now it's so00 uncomfortable. Am down to two skirts that fit but only realised for the first time today (when the sun finally came out), that they are both completely seethrough. There is no way I am buying a maternity petticoat (do they even exist?), so I guess I shall just have to spend the next few weeks flashing my knickers!

Sorry to hear about everyone suffering from hip/back pain. Hopefully things will get better soon after we hold our LOs xx

MrsFish · 26/08/2007 09:22

Good morning everyone

Had a bit of a lie in this morning, dh got up and sorted ds out, well he he didn't really have much choice, I told him last night that he was going to. I slept in the spare room with the fan going all night, got up at 8.45 bliss The sun is shining here again today so I think sitting out and relaxing is the order of the day again. Have a good day everyone.

ccpink · 26/08/2007 09:57

hi all,
I survived the week with il's

feeling a bit tired but like the rest of you the weather is a real boost. No major disasters but new mil was asking lots of questions about dh's childhood - think she's heard a few duff lines!! I set her straight!

Kinki - omg! Thanks for sharing -so scary and funny. I didn't know about water either. It all seems to be getting very real now. Good luck

amy and lou - congrat's - keep us posted - do we get a new thread somewhere else called sept07 after we've all dropped?!

off to visit a few friends over the next few days with little babies so hoping ours won't want to say hello just yet! I still haven't sorted my freezer - practically emptied but haven't made anything. Must make that my next task..

bye for now
cc

Chattyhan · 26/08/2007 12:11

Hi all

ccpink - glad your week wasn't too horrendous!

Kinki - what a busy few days! I really sympathise on the constant waters leaking! I only had it for a few hrs and it was so frustrating. Well done for braving the shops! Not sure i could have done that and the nappy! Brilliant i keep a disposable bed mat in the car! My friends waters went at 36 wks and they wanted to leave her until she was 37 wks but lo arrived 3 days later! Hope all goes well for you xx

Officially 37 wks today! And so wanting this to be over!

EmLouT · 26/08/2007 13:35

Wow - so many of us are reaching the 37 weeks mark - I am now 37 + 2 and the fact that the LO is now classified as full term seems to be making the waiting a lot harder!

DH has been a star this weekend working in the nursery to get it finished - it is finally looking good which is more than I can say for my kitchen.

Kinki - thanks for making me laugh with your nappy story - you are much braver than I am for going out like that!

Had a great day yesterday and managed to sit through the whole of Harry Potter at the cinema. Unfortunately not feeling so hot today - slept very badly and all I feel I want to do today is cry - does anybody else have days like this?

DH and I are going out for a drive - hopefully that will cheer me up. Keep enjoying the weather everyone.

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 26/08/2007 15:22

afternoon all! sun still shining in london so far lovely day with long lie in and then stroll round farmers market. i feel justified lying in now as i am 39 weeks so the countdown has begun!
poor dh is knackered and working in the garden so must go get dd up from her nap (thank god for naps) and potter around kitchen/garden.
hope everyone else enjoying sunshine! xx

kyala · 26/08/2007 15:58

Afternoon people!
Am feeling a bit more energetic today (more than likely cos I managed to get a 2 hour nap this afternoon with DD) so have stuck some mix in the maker for Banana bread (yipee)

PLP: here you go: ingredients for Dairylea cheese triangles: Cheese (16%), Lactic Acid, Concentrated Skimmed Milk, Emulsifying Salts (E452, E339), Vitamin D, Milk Proteins, Salt, Butter, Calcium Phosphate
(any of that actually sound like real food except the "cheese", bare in mind it doesn't tell you what type of cheese they use LOL) Sorry, I don't believe in eating processed cheese, not when you can get real cheese just as cheap LOL
Ah, yes X-factor, I think I just couldn't be bothered to change the channel (or maybe I did, I can't remember much of last night now, I was soo tired!) Managed to get to bed at about 11, set the fan for an hour, DH got home just before the fan turned off (so much for "I wont be long hunny" LOL) so the fan went back on for another 2 hours (it wakes me up when it turns off, must be the sudden silence)
Ooh a motorbike! It's not the motorbike's that are unsafe it's the driver's that don't look properly when pulling out (or those stupid little boys on mopeds, they think they're so big and clever!) If you talk to real motorbike lovers you'll find that they treat their bikes with enough respect not to want them damaged! As long as your DH is responsible there shouldn't be a problem

HIWBB: Glad you've got the kitchen! Must be exciting to now be able to see it done and dusted (or has it not been dusted yet?! )

Jemimapuddleduck: I know how you feel with your DD, only mine doesn't go to school so no break for me I've been getting a bit angsty with her today, her new favourite saying is "Mummy? What you doin'?" I can't decide whether she actually knows what it means or if she just enjoys winding me up she's only 2 and she seems to say it when I'm in the middle of something really obvious (or I've literally just told her what I'm doing ) So, today has consisted, mostly, of telling her "No more what you doin'?'!!" LOL
How about wearing both skirts together? Or are they completely different colours/styles? Or just buy some 1.5metres of cotton and stitch some elastic along the top edge and there you go, one maternity pettycoat LOL

MrsFish: Hope you're enjoying the weather

ccpink: Well done survivng the week

EmlouT: Yup I know exactly what you mean about the crying thing, I've been feeling depressed, on and off, for months now, I'm not sure how to combat it either, I just seem to have a good day every once in a while and that keeps me on track (like today, despite DD constantly taking her clothes/nappy off, weeing in her bed, asking me "what you doin'?" every 5 secs I'm not doing too bad LOL)
Just hang in there and be aware that you may end up with PND, just let your loved one's know how you feel and let them keep an eye on you, I know it's hard to admit it to people but they will understand (afterall your body's going through something really extreme!) (((hugs)))

ECATLM: Glad you're having a good day too! Hope this weather lasts you through the LO's arrival too, it'll help with all that washing that you know is just lurking round the corner for you!!

Righty ho ladees, I'm off to sniff my kitchen and possibly finish that hospital bag Have a good day everyone

xxx

Hopeitwontbebig · 26/08/2007 16:22

EmLouT, glad you enjoyed the film and your nursery is sorted, like you say, shame about your kitchen . Yes I have days where I feel a bit low, it's probably aggravated by the fact you slept badly last night. Hope you feel better after your drive.

Kinki, you're just so funny! Very inventive of you using the nappy.

ccpink, well done on surviving the in-laws! Enjoy visiting your friends.

Jemima, you go girl, flash away!

PLP, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Tell DH not to do it, don't get a motorbike

OP posts:
Hopeitwontbebig · 26/08/2007 16:24

kyala, you're absolutely right about it being other drivers who cause accidents involving motorcyclists. They just DON'T see them. There's too many cars on the roads these days. I always used to feel sick when my DH went out on his bike and now he's been left with the use of only one arm as a result of some crazy driver . Sorry PLP, bikes absolutely terrify me now.

OP posts:
MrsFish · 26/08/2007 16:39

Hi all

Well I have not really made the most of the weather, its been a bit windy and cloudy here today in between the sun. I felt good this morning so decided to do a bit in the garden, managed about an hour but totally wiped myself out. Tried to put ds down for a nap and me with him but he wasn't having any of it, just kept climbing on me so we gave up. I then lay on the sofa for an hour or so and had a semi doze whilst he watched ceebeebies, dh then came home and took him out for a drive to Tescos for a couple of hours so I had a nice hair wash and shower, and started sorting out some stuff for hospital bags finally. Still feel really tired though, can't wait till bedtime

MrsMar · 26/08/2007 17:18

Hello everyone... wasn't yesterday hot?? I've spent the past two days lying like a damp rag on the sofa!

We went to dh's summer party on friday night, I managed to stay in my heels until 11pm, but I did have to sit quite a bit. I've noticed I get a sharp pain to one side of my groin when I stand too long, very unpleasant and it makes my posture go to pot! Dh was very sensible and came home with me at 11.30 instead of going on with his mates and drinking until 4 as most of them did (there was no pressure from me, honest!) so we didn't have too much trauma yesterday! I was shattered though, spent most of the day napping!

Holly - of course you can come round and have some food, I've made faaaaaar too much! I can't fit it all in the freezer! EmLouT, you're more than welcome too

Sorry the stretchmarks have appeared MrsB... I'm fully expecting mine to appear soon, esp if this one does attempt a turn at this late stage, bound to put a strain on my poor skin

Glad to hear Jasmine is doing well Lou. That weight gain is fantastic. Never mind what the silly docs say, she's obviously thriving!

canadianmum - I hope you can get your LOA postition. If the baby is engaging I'm sure you can do the bum in the air bit to try and get him/her to turn before he/she becomes too deeply engaged. You never know, he/she might turn in labour, that's quite common too apparently. I've got such strange bits sticking out at the sides, I can't wait til my mw appt on wednesday to discuss the position of this LO. I'm sure he's well and truly wedged in there! I must sort out the hospital tour too... I've been there tons because of the pre-eclampsia study, but I actually don't know where to go if I'm in labour !!! Congrats on getting to 37 weeks, that'll be me on wednesday!

Sophus - your mum's birthday tea party sounds great, I'm so glad you managed to spend the day with her.

PLP - LOL at the sign to avoid the same conversation 20 times.. I could have done with one of those on Friday night... yes it's my first, three and a half weeks left, yes we know it's a boy, no we haven't settled on a name, no the nursery isn't quite finished but it will be soon, no it isn't my parents first grandchild.... and so on ad infinitum! I'm so mean, but crikey!!!!

Kinki - I hope you manage to hold on a bit longer. Great tip with the nappy thing... a little bit but hey, we have to be practical! I'm so paranoid about gushing as I walk down the road I might start wearing one now! LOL!

HIWBB - great news that your kitchen is finished, did you manage to get your step mum to get her marigolds out?

Kyala - if you're trying out your breadmaker for the first time, don't bother with those mixes... we used the recipes from the booklet that came with the breadmaker and haven't bought a loaf of bread in nearly two years. We love ours, dh raves about the bread. We just put water and lemon juice in the bottom, then flour on top, and salt sugar, powdered skimmed milk and butter in the four corners and dried yeast in the middle. Takes 5 mins to prepare, 3 hours to cook and is super yum. I usually set it up overnight so we wake up to the smell of freshly cooked bread. Hellish if you're on a diet though

Dal - I hope your baby is turning as you think so... what does it feel like? I've had some really big movements, but all the kicking is still on the lower half of my bump, and there are lighter scrabbling movements slightly further up, which I think are hands. I've got a lump under my ribs which could be a head, but I've got a much harder lump next to my belly button so I don't know.... I just wondered if there was anything that stood out to make you think the baby was turning. Good luck for Tues, I'm seeing the mw on Weds for a position update...

ccpink - glad you survived the week with the ils!

PLP - I'm afraid I'm another one who's terrified of bikes, but for another reason, one hit my sister and her boyfriends car and caused the most horrific accident. Biker was driving at 140mph on the wrong side of the road, at night, with his lights off, after having spent 10 hours in the pub. Killed himself and his girlfriend (riding pillion) and blinded my sisters boyfriend, putting him in intensive care for 3 months, hosp for 6. Caused massive jaw and skull fractures to my sister. Horrendous! Very sweet of your dad to offer though, how about a scooter? Not quite as butch, but I'd be terrified of dh on a bike, you're so exposed on them.

Phew, sorry this is a long 'un isn't it? It's cos dh is on a sport watching marathon and I've (finally) managed to get on the computer! I'm going to have to lie down on the sofa now though, sitting up straight is really difficult what with whatever that big lump is digging in to my ribs!!

Have a lovely evening everyone, take care xx

emj23 · 26/08/2007 17:41

Oh my goodness Kinki, well done on your quick thinking there and I hope you're still feeling okay.

It's only just dawning on me that I need to think about things like waters breaking, when I had DS they were broken for me so I was led on a bed with one of those pad things on it already. Are people generally nice and sympathetic and understanding if it happens somewhere public or will they be horrified? Eeeek. My aunt's waters broke in the supermarket, I don't want that to happen!

Five weeks today! (Unless LO really is massive and has to come early - roll on Tuesday so I know what's going on)

EmLouT · 26/08/2007 17:43

Thanks everyone for the cheer up messages. Just come back from a nice drive and lunch in a country pub and am feeling a lot more human. Off to soak in a hot bath.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

canadianmum · 26/08/2007 19:03

kinki - a friend of mine did exactly the same thing with her ds' nappy, she wore one every night from about 38 wks or something. Very funny. Pregnancy and dignity just do not go together do they?

HIWBB - my DH bought a motorcycle a few months ago despite my threats to divorce him if he did. Now we just don't talk about it since he refuses to give it up. When other people mention it in my presence he just tells them that they can't talk about it in front of me. It is just such an unnecessary risk, as I am sure you agree. He tried to tell me last week that it was a waste of money to get an independent midwife, all I had to say was "and the motorcycle was a good use of our resources was it?, at least the midwife won't shorten my lifespan!". He shut up after that .

mrsmar - the lumps you describe in your bump sound remarkably like mine. My mw told me that the one near my navel is baby's bottom(side-on IYSWIM) and the one off to the side is a knee or some part of the leg.

dal - the delia banana and nut loaf is fabulous, especially if you substitute the walnuts for chocolate chips and leave out the citrusy bits . Not that I like chocolate or anything........ My boys LOVE helping me make it, and eating half the chocolate chips before they get mixed in.

I am feeling mega-hormonal today, which is really unlike me. DH has upset me about 4 or 5 times today and when I think about the terrible things he has said they are actually pretty innocent but yet I still feel pissed off and tearful. I think it might be partly because I was so excited to get to full term and now I feel like the excitement is over. Totally stupid I know, I must pull myself together. Roll on Bank Holiday monday.

dal21 · 26/08/2007 21:09

Hey everyone!!

Been a busy day (again!) - but finally think the mammoth list of things to be done round the house are done! From here on in, can put my feet up and watch dvd's til LO arrives!

Havent managed to catch up with most the posts - but dont think i have missed anyone popping (or have i???)

MrsM - 2 nights ago, the baby was moving loads - and at one point i couldnt feel the head under my ribs which made me think that perhaps LO was turning. However - in the last 2 days - my ability to stomach normal meals has returned, thank goodness - so maybe the changed position i am feeling is because the baby has engaged??? Or maybe it is because it has moved. I just dont know. The area where i feel hiccups, most the jabs hasnt changed, so who knows? 2 more days and all will become clear no doubt!

Seems as though a few of us have appts this tues/ weds - so will find out a little more about how things are going. I am only 35+3 tomorrow and at all you lovely ladies already at 37 weeks, it must get soo exciting!!

Canadianmum - you can never go wrong with delia it has to be said! But if you like chocolate cake - the best chocolate cake i have ever made is the Nigella lawson chocolate cloud cake - from recollection about 4/5 green and black bars go into it - you cant eat much of it because it is so rich - but the bit you do have? absolute heaven! Give it a go one day - you wont regret it!

Hope everyone else is having a fab bank holiday weekend. Catch up soon

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 26/08/2007 22:13

Hi everyone, hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weather today. I had a lovely time at a friend's bbq but am feeling a bit odd now. I guess it's probably from sitting in the sun on a garden chair and eating too much for 6 hours! It feel's like constant period pain. Hopefully it will be gone by the morning, but it is making me a bit nervous and wondering could this be early labour! I guess every strange ache and pain over the next few weeks is going to get me asking that question so I should just stop stressing about it!

Kyala, I really sympathise with you having a little one at home all the time and being pregnant. I'm not sure that I could cope. I might try your idea of wearing one skirt on top of the other!

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/08/2007 11:48

Happy Monday Bank Holiday everyone.

Sorry PLP, hope we haven't all scared you off with our anti bike messages. But then, I think you're of the same school of thought as us.

MrsMar, I remember you saying about your sister and boyfriend in that accident. I too have felt lots of movement of late, but I think all the lumps and bumps are in the same places. Will see on Wednesday when I have my scan.

Dal, will have a look at that cake recipe, sounds scrummy.

Canadianmum, sorry to hear your DH has given in the the bike urge. My DH kept dropping hints for years and years about getting a motorbike, I finally gave in about 4 years ago because I was worried he'd resent me for not giving him my 'blessing'. I somehow feel responsible for the state he's in now, but I know that's stupid talk.

Had a bad night lastnight with my stupid hip, didn't get much sleep. DH is being an absolute angel and has ordered me to have a doss day, I'm still in bed now, he's just run me a bath, so I'm off now to soak.

Enjoy your day
x x

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 27/08/2007 12:31

HIWBB good for you and your dh - enjoy your bath!

i think i have eiher had a show or my waters have started to leak. not sure which. how liquid can a show be, does anyone know? i think i'll post in 'childbirth' too as you're prob all out having bank hol fun!
i'll be grumpy if this is waters breaking and no contractions as that'll mean induction which is what happened last time and i was hoping for self starting labour this time.
oh well......could all happen within 24 hours. or sooner. time to pack my bag!

dal21 · 27/08/2007 15:10

Hello everyone - having an incredibly lazy monday! Did little bits and bobs this morning and have now stopped! This little one can arrive and we are all ready! watch me sit here for another 6 weeks til 42 weeks now! LOL!

Enormous - how exciting for you!! I am following over to childbirth thread, I cannot be of any help to you I am afraid since this is my first!

anyone else with any news to report??

kyala · 27/08/2007 15:17

Afternoon ladees!
Hope you're all enjoying the bank hol

HIWBB: Ooh nasty! I'm not surprised you're aprehansive about him using a bike again then
Well done on having a doss day, I managed to get a 2 hour nap this afternoon! It's lovely to be able to relax isn't it?! And DD's being a good girl (so far) but then, Postman Pat is on the telly! LOL

MrsMar: Our's didn't come with a booklet, but DH did get a load of recipes from Ebay so we're using those, sounds like the one you've given is about the same so will try out your method too!
Although saying that, making banana bread the first time I didn't mix the miture before putting it into the maker and the edges were very floury and sweet (where the flour and sugar were sifted together), I'll get the hang of it
Any ideas where I can get pwdered milk? Tesco didn't have it anywhere Thoguth they were meant to have everything! LOL

Jemimapuddleduck: Glad I could be of some use

ECATLM: Finger's crossed for you! I keep reading about all you ladies having shows and leaks and I'm getting , I really want this baby like NOW!!

Have got my friend coming over tomorrow just to relax and enjoy the day (she is travelling over 60 miles just to see me just cos she's got the day off, isn't that sweet?! Bless her!) I'd love to go into labour tomorrow or this evening I'd love for her to be here for me when the baby comes along, she's just so sweet (she's the only one I'd have around mind you, I'm still not sure if DH has told his family not to be around for the first few days, am going to be really annoyed if they turn up on the day like last time )

I'm off right now to go and pack some more stuff into that hospital bag (I know, I know!!) quick while DD is quiet!
(tip toes away quietly. . . . )
((enjoy the rest of your day ladies )

MrsBumblebee · 27/08/2007 15:32

ECATLM, how exciting!! Don't forget to keep us posted over here, if you can. Fingers crossed for you!

Dal, I'm in the same position as you - the mammoth list of things to do, which has kept me and DH fully occupied over the last few weeks, is finally empty. The last item has just been crossed off. We don't quite know what to do with ourselves now. Planning a lazy afternoon of listening to the cricket in the sunshine. Have also just baked a plum cake for tea, and may drag myself down the garden to pick some blackberries.

Enjoy what's left of the bank holiday, everyone .

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 27/08/2007 16:30

ECATLM - that sounds soooo exciting. Let us know how you get on.

Kyala - Have to agree with you. The telly's been a bit of a saviour recently. Double bill of Tracey Beaker on at the moment so I think I'll follow your example and finish off the hospital bag. The only problem is that it doesn't seem to fit in!

The period like pains kept me awake all last night and they are still here. They're not wave like but like a constant dull ache. Is anyone else getting these? Am supposed to be going away for a couple of days tomorrow but I'm thinking of cancelling as I really don't like the idea of my waters breaking on British Rail.
