Good morning (well, it's still morning here, anyway). I went to a prenatal yoga class last night, which was good. Due dates ranged from late October to late January, with lots of us in November, plus one woman who isn't pregnant at all! (She happened into the class by accident one night, and really liked it, so she comes regularly). The problem is my arms. I'm usually reasonably strong, but the combination of not working out and pregnancy seems to have sucked all the strength out of my arms and hands. I was waaaayyy worse at anything which required arm strength than anyone else in the class.

Has anyone else here had a dramatic loss of muscle power in the last month or so? I thought it was pregnancy, now I'm thinking maybe it's just me.

aikigypsy - My strenth has decreased quite a lot which I also found frustrating as was going to the gym 4 times a week before pg!

How are your iron levels? Mine have been pretty low but have found some more strength since been on iron supplement...

Helloooooo

Haven't posted in a while, other than to say Hi!

Fiona, i started by Mat leave early as well and have been going slightly mad. Everyone just tells me to enjoy myself as after the baby(this is my first) things will never be the same again!

Still i have enjoyed having the time to relax and treat myself. Strangely, not being at work makes me think i might want a career change, mmmmmmmmm we'll see.

Just got back from the hospital day unit. They suggested I come in for monitoring so I went in, explained about DS being early and they monitored me for about half an hour. Baby is engaged but the MW reassured me that igt doesn't mean I'm about to go into labour and that baby could just as easily be breech in a week since they still have enough room to move.

She did confirm that I am having very mild contractions - probably BH - and I have basically been told to keep an eye on them. If they get progressively more intense, fall into more of a pattern, take on the form of 'waves' of pain that starts off mild and then peak and go down again - then I have to go back in.

No signs of any waters breaking or anything so that is very reassuring.

Still getting the contraction type pain but it's not very bad at the mo. Hopefully it's just a combination of BH and the baby changing to head down position.

Floanna - definitely agree with mrsj - after having DS, I am now totally in awe of single mothers. I really honestly don't know how they do it. If I was ever put in that situation, I think I would end up having a nervous breakdown. Mind you, a couple of my single mummy friends say that although it's usually easier with 2 parents, not having to worry about a DP can be a bit of a perk sometimes! No disagreements about how to deal with the kids, no oneupmanship on who's done more nappy changes etc.

Tea - maternity leave is a great opportunity to assess how happy you are at work. I used it as an opportunity to start work as a henna artist and I am currenly assessing options regarding what 'proper'job to go back to. Normally you're far too engrossed in the day to day stuff to stand back and look at your options.

Good luck with it anyway.

Must go now as DH is getting stroppy that I'm paying more attention to MN than him

By the way - he brought me breakfast in bed this morning and specifically asked me if I would be telling you guys. MN is taking over!

Sparkly and Lizzie - please check in and let us know how you are!

Aaah - Floanna - is that what it is today - a fresh bout of hormones!! I've been wound up like a drum all afternoon.

I'm feeling pee'd off at the moment because despite being 7 mths pg, working 12 hour days and being committed to finishing this mega project I've been managing for the last year (on schedule and £800k under budget)before I go on mat leave at the end of Oct - I have just been ticked off by my boss for getting only a little bit arsy with her when she started to gripe on about something I thought was trivial! She reckons she's tired!!

Anyway - had to let that out!

RGPargy · 19/09/2007 18:53

hi everyone!

Glad all you premmies are hanging on in there! Good stuff!!!

i had a hospital appointment today with the consultant. She thought i was initially there because i'd had high blood pressure one day, but i told her it was coz by BMI was high. As my BP has been normal since June and i have no problems at all (touch wood) she has discharged me from the team so i wont be going back there again. Yay!! She also said that baby's heartbeat was very good and i think she was impressed at my chilled/laid back demeanour and said i was a "happy person" lol. That's two professionals in a row now that have said the very said thing! [bigs self up]

RGPargy · 19/09/2007 18:54

lol ELB. Dont you just HATE it when that happens??

fiona76 · 19/09/2007 18:55

I'm a teacher so used to being so busy all the time. But I've spent today booking antenatal yoga and swimming classes and coffee with other friends with babies. I guess I'll get used to this life of leisure right in time for the bub to arrive and make me busy again. What do you guys do everyday???

RGPargy · 19/09/2007 19:16

Fiona - i go into work, surf the net most the day and come home (my job is sooooooo not busy atm). I'm a legal secretary in London. [yawn]

sparklygothkat · 19/09/2007 19:21

Still hanging on here, my sister is 3cms dilated and fully enfaced (sp?) so I could have a new niece by the weekend

I am getting ticked off with my parents though, they said today that if sis has her baby today or tomorrow then they can go to the caravan for a few days, I said they couldn;t in case I go into hospital especially since I have had contractions recently. I am so scared that they will just bugger off and leave us in the lurge with the kids. They can't even guaratee that they could get back in time as I have had a very fast labour before with DD1 (2 hours from start to finish)

The consultant said that I am doing well, and DS2 is growing well, so I just have keep doing what I am doing and hope!!

33 weeks tomorrow. They said there was a trace of protein which might or might not be an infection. Still having pain on and off, but not regular so not worried

ChocolateHobnob · 19/09/2007 21:11

Hi all

Choudru, hope you're okay! And Sparkly too...

I had a dramatic day! Went to midwife this morning and had faffed about so was late and ended up semi-running there (it's a 10 minute walk) and my blood pressure was high! So got sent off to the hospital to have a bp profile taken. At the hospital they left me for about 90 mins waiting, then they did the profile and my bp was normal at every test. They think it was the over-energetic dash to the midwife that did it, but they and the midwife told me I'm working too many hours and not resting enough. I'm working normally (ie get up at 6, go to work just after 7, leave around 6) but it seems that's a bit much for 34 weeks, so they suggested I take it a bit easier and cut myself more slack. That said the bp readings were all fine at the hospital and I dont have to go back... but it gave me a shock!

Lo is fine though - hb etc. And pretty much engaged and in a good position. All that leaning on all fours has worked! Hurrah.

Having had that shock, am now going to take things easier. I've had an easy pregnancy and been rushing around as though am normal - guess that isn't so clever at this stage.

Anna, how are you doing?

Hope the rest of you are all okay!
