Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sparklygothkat · 30/08/2007 15:35

oh no MrsJ!!!! I thought it would be me being the first one too early!! Hope its all ok

aikigypsy · 30/08/2007 17:11

Argh! I hope everything's all right MrsJetson. Fingers crossed and all that.

Fingerbobs -- I hope the placeta previa straightens itself out. Sounds very stressful.

Nothing new here, just lying around, hanging out with a bunch of much younger people who like to play video games, and drinking lots of tea.

littleoldme · 30/08/2007 17:56

So what exactly to stretch marks look like? It's not the sort of thing I feel I can ask anyone to show me. I think I see the beginnings around my belly button. There's some liney mottled strangeness.

The boy next door is washing a hovering my car. He's saving up for driving lessons and I offered him a tenner. I'm so pleased as I hate doing it - even the jet wash fills me with dread.

Pixiefish · 30/08/2007 18:06

mrsJ- fingers crossed

sarahloumadam · 30/08/2007 18:33

Good luck Mrs J. x

iris66 · 30/08/2007 18:48

MrsJ - bloody hell!!!! Keeping everything crossed that everything goes ok for you & your precious DD.

iris66 · 30/08/2007 19:16

RGPargy - hope your GTT goes ok - you may very well be fine if your urine sample has been clear each time you see the MW. I have a strong family history of diabetes (and GD last pg)which is why they tested me early (16 wks and again at 28) They are very fond of doing things "just to make sure" lol. And yes, you test at home by a finger prick (doesn't hurt) & a little machine gives a reading in a few seconds. Easy, but tedious IYKWIM. I'm testing immediately before meals and 1 hour after & just before bed but different hospitals may have slightly different regimes (I was testing 1/2 hr before eating & 2 hrs after last time )

kekouan - welcome to the thread Where are you from, what do you do, any other LOs? etc etc (not that I'm nosey or anything)

littleoldme - fab tip about the chemist. Thanks. I really want some gaviscon but have been too busy to remember to get a Drs appt. Will pop to Lloyds tomorrow! BTW stretch marks are usually redish/purple lines (can be either very thin or quite wide as it's the underlying tissues that split) and they can look quite shiny. I got one on my pubic line delivering DD which lengthened a little just before I delivered DS. I felt it split which was a bit gross but it's faded everso quickly.

Fingerbobs - good luck with the placenta previa. A friend of mine was given the all clear last week as hers had moved (unfortunately, so had the baby which is now breech - she's going to be scrubbing floors for England to try get it to shift in the next few weeks!)

Loopymumsy - sorry for not replying to your comment earlier Thanks for the positive thoughts but although I'm aware that size/weight estimates from scans can be pretty hit & miss but they were only 5 oz out with DS. Additionally, neither of my 2 engaged properly until after my membranes were ruptured (bringing risk of cord prolapse into the equation if it happens again) so I'm currently inclined to err on the side of caution until I can get more info (seeing lovely MW again next week)

I can't believe how quickly the time's flying now. I washed all the covers from my pram/pushchair today in readiness to turn it back into a carrycot (though I've no idea where DH has hidden the stand!). Delivery day is really looming now isn't it! Best wishes again to MrsJ.

littleoldme · 30/08/2007 19:25

LOL last post the boy next door was hoovering my car rather than hovering it.

Thanks for the stretch mark info iris. I saw from your profile that you say you live in hope. Do you mean the state of mind or the village in Derbyshire? Feel free not to divulge it's just that's near my Mum's and I'm often down that way? I used to work in Edale which is of course the valley beyond hope.

Thinking of you Mrs J.

iris66 · 30/08/2007 19:35

lol I didn't spot the sp (I'd love to have your boy come over & do my car. I got rollocked by Dh last week when I got all the car cleaning stuff out... "If the car needs cleaning I'll do it. You're not doing it in your condition!!" he bawled (yeah right - and hell will freeze over before you do it, thought I )

I live in hope, as in the state of mind . The place, in reality, being Wiltshire. Does anyone ever say "you're Edale" (ie. beyond hope)? ooh er I think that was a very pg brain moment (think I need to lie down )

sparklygothkat · 30/08/2007 19:57

any news on mrsJ??

AnnainNZ · 30/08/2007 20:34

Just woken up and read about MrsJ...hope all is OK

AnnainNZ · 30/08/2007 21:02

Oh and welcome Kekouan, did you decide about your maternity leave?

littleoldme · 30/08/2007 21:49

Iris - I've never heard anyone say, " You're Edale" but I think I'll start using it - v amusing.

DH has informed that the nursery doesn't need painting but If I want to do I'm not to stop half way through and get him to finish it. Grrr men - sometimes they just don't understand. It doesn't need doing but I want it done. Think I'll get the mother over to help. It's only a weeny room.

Goodnight one and all.

jetgirl · 30/08/2007 22:31

Oh no Mrs J, hope all is well xx

silkcushion · 30/08/2007 23:07

MrsJ - hope yr both ok.

Little - come and have a look at my fat and purple squiggly belly - then you'll see stretchmarks!!! and I seem to be the only one on ythis thread who ahs them. I have regularly massaged Neal's YArd Remedy mothers balm in every night for months and it's not stopped them happening.

Welcome KeKouan.

Pixiefish · 30/08/2007 23:30

I have that Avent oil for my tummy. used it religiously when pg with dd but now I only put it on when I remmeber. I do think that last time I was lucky not to have any stretch marks but that this time, along with every thing else that's gone wrong I'll end up with stretch marks

Hi everyone! It's been some time since I've checked in and I'm mostly caught up now. Just got back from a long visit in the US with family/friends- figured we were paying for the trip so may as well make it worthwhile and try and see as many people as possible. DH had to head back to work before us, so I flew back with 3yr old and 1yr old by myself. It went more smoothly than I thought it would! Will not try it when baby #3 is on the scene though . Everything starting to feel more real now...time for some serious nesting.

Hope all is well MrsJ!

kekouan · 31/08/2007 07:29

RGPargy - Hi, thanks I don't know what I'm having, no. I wanted to find out but my partner wants it to be a surprise, so am desperate to know! Never was very good at waiting for things.

iris66 - from Oxford, work in admin (yawn) and no other little ones.. this is the first sprogling.. :D

Hi AnnainNZ - Hello! Um.. think I have decided about my maternity leave, but need to speak with our HR department to finalise things. After 2 near crashes on the way home, and the fact that my commute takes the best part of an hour each way now, I think I'll finish at 34 weeks (so 6 weeks time). Must remember to speak to MW about anaemia though - must write it down so I don't forget. Must remember to write it down in the first place, heh ;-p

Hello anybody else that I missed!!

:-D

ara · 31/08/2007 07:51

MrsJ how is everything doing? Fingers crossed for you x

mrsjetson · 31/08/2007 10:42

Hi to all.

Oh dear - already 3.5cms!!! But all is fine - for now, scan in 30 mins. I'll explian more later.
Thank you for your messages x

jetgirl · 31/08/2007 10:53

Silk - You're not the only one, my DH calls me Hot Rod (like the cars with the flame-effect bonnet!) because of my stretchmarks, and I religiously rubbed Neals Yard stuff in last time too. But hey did fade realtively quickly, it's just that they have come back and I have extras too

Mrs J - still thinking of you and hoping you're getting to take it easy x

My MW has sorted out an obs appt for me and another scan to find out whether they will recommend a c-section for me. September 10th is decision day!

RGPargy · 31/08/2007 11:07

MrsJ - Cant wait for the update!! Fingers crossed all is well.

MrsJ, I hope you can take it easy and find out what happening. if you do deliver now, the baby will be ok, just small. If you need to talk CAT me, I have been there 3 times. Make sure you have the steriod injections to mature the baby's lungs, they really do help (I have already had my dose)
I hope they manage to stop the labour and you are ok

littleoldme · 31/08/2007 11:58

Mrs J- hope the labour can be stopped. Lots of love.

Ny- Welcome back. Sounds like you had a good trip.

I'm currently mucking out the office so we can turn it into the nursery. It's not as small as I thought it was - just full of junk

BunnyBaby · 31/08/2007 11:58

Hi Ladies! I don't post too often, and usually when I've got something amusing to update on. However I keep up to date with the thread each day.

An amusing story for you:

Did my best one ever this morning.. I bought a sucker mat for the bath as I'm aware that my centre of gravity is off.

So I'm showering away, and lean over to get something and the mat slips.. So to avoid landing on belly I twisted and grabbed hold of the towel rail..

Thus follows an almighty great crash, and I'm lying on my back in the middle of the bathroom like a giant upturned soapy turtle!!

Thankfully DH knocked on the door for something as I was about to get in and the door was unlocked. He heard the bang - realised it was something a lot bigger than a shampoo bottle and charged up the stairs to my aid. I was a bit shaken but he helped me back up again.

I fell remarkably well considering, and apart from a pulled shoulder and a gash on my ankle I'm ok. The baby is kicking and wriggling away as normal, so it's obviously a tough nut too!

Quite glad this didn't happen later on when I couldn't have grabbed hold of things and wrecked the bathroom on my way down.

:-)
