Hi, thought I'd start a new thread. Hope ou find this OK!

Just been shopping downtown and bought a fab paid of maternity pants for work.

Also bought "The Baby Name Wizard" as Borders were having 20% off everything. Feel free anyone to ask me a question about names now!! The book categorises them into the following "style families" (chances are if you like one name in the family, you'll like a number of others - e.g. I tend to go for "Antique Charm" names for girls which include Abigail, Adeline, AMelia, Anna. Annabel, Annalise, Ava, Bella, Clara, Daisy, Eleanor, Emma, Eva, Georgia, Grace, Hannah and Isabel):
African, Androgynous, Antique Charm, Bell tones, Biblical, Brisk and Breezy, Celtic, Charms and Graces, Country and Western, English, The -ens, Exotic Traditionals, Fanciful, French, German, Greek, Guys and Dolls, Italian, Jewish, Lacy and Lissome, Ladies and Gentlemen, Last Names First, Latino, Little Darlings, Long Gone, Mid-Century, Modern Meanings, Muslim, Mythological, Namesakes, New Classics, Nickname-Proof, Place-Names, Porch-Sitters, Saints, Scandanavian, '70s and '80s, Shakespearean, Slavic, Solid Citizens, Surfer Sixties, Timeless and Why Not?

New Jeans - just got some really nice dark denim ones from Dorothy Perkins, fresh in store. god they're comfy. Never thought i'd find elastic waisted clothing attractive...

MotherofZ · 29/08/2007 14:24

I've got some Dotty P one's too - they're brill!

Neuro · 29/08/2007 14:33

are they the dark denim ones? if i hide the waistband they actually look quite expensive. I like to think so anyway!

Mrswizz · 29/08/2007 14:39

Neuro, am very impressed you're still in normal jeans. I've been in maternity ones since May or June.

MotherofZ · 29/08/2007 14:39

yeah the boot leg ones. Did I mentioned New Look have got mat jeans for £12! Dead comfy too (and adjustable)

Neuro · 29/08/2007 14:52

Dont' be too impressed, they're my baggy arsed skater jeans, so kind of hung off me pre-preg.

Does anyone feel like throwing all their clothes away? I don't feel excited about wearing many of them again. I sort of feel i want to dress a bit more womanly/grown up when i've had the baby, but then remembered i'll prob be sicked on most days, so maybe not for a while.

MotherofZ · 29/08/2007 15:01

Am the opposite - want to buy loads of clothes that will flatter my bump, so I look properly pregnant and boost me a little, especially when I have 'feeling crap' days. (like today )

Neuro · 29/08/2007 15:08

No i meant next year, when the bumps have gone and flat tummies return...i want to be a yummy mummy, but not one with stripey townie hair and an uneccassary 4x4 for driving round town

MotherofZ · 29/08/2007 15:12

oh yes so do I! Going to treat myself to some nice clothes once I have lost the pregnancy fat (that's going to be my motivation to get things shifted!)

mixedmama · 29/08/2007 15:13

i do like the comfort of a 4x4 tho

yes, i have no nice clothes anyway as i was struggling with losing weight after DS so am looking to havee a whole new wardrobe as it will be empty when i am not wearing maternnity clothes. It is all in my post-natal plan (since i am that bored that i created one) and that anal that i thought i needed another list to ignore.

Mrswizz · 29/08/2007 15:17

I'm contemplating being really skint for quite a while, so have been going mad in the sales recently. Have concentrated on things like jackets that look classic and that I can wear post pg. Am going to invest in some really nice boots and a posh handbag too. Hopefully that way all the other rubbish I'll have to drag from the depths of my wardrobe will look classy.

mixedmama · 29/08/2007 15:28

That sounds like a good plan Mrswizz. Once our house is sold Dh and I are getting a little lump sum each to speend as we wish, no questions from the other party, so am saving mine till after the baby is born and my parents (miss them - they are back from hols on Sat) took me to Matalan after DS was born and said I could spend £100, which had to be on me so my mum accompanied me and we bought DH some bits, just after DS was born which was nice especially as I hadnt really lost any weight and it was still early days.

Mrswizz · 29/08/2007 15:32

Ooh horrible thought after my last post, IF I can fit my old clothes that is! Am hoping to start training for a 10k run in the new year and to BF so hopefully will be able to be rid of the cake retention I've been prone to whilst pg.

Neuro · 29/08/2007 15:35

I reckon it's best to spend more on a few choice well made class items that will look good for ages than tons of stuff. Decent handbags and shoes always a winner. You can wear scruffy jeans with a great bag and hey presto! instant style.

And then New Look/Topshop for fashion things.

MotherofZ · 29/08/2007 15:36

10K run??! am impressed

Neuro · 29/08/2007 15:37

A 10k run? Are you mad woman? If that doesn't shift the bulges i dunno what will.

My bad back prevents me from doing any running. Phew!

I saw a woman buying a preg test at lunchtime and felt a bit smug and really happy that i am past that bit.

Women are staring at my tummy the way i used to look at (and feel envy for) other women.

mixedmama · 29/08/2007 15:38

Is anayboody finding that pregnant women are EVERYWHERE.

mixedmama · 29/08/2007 15:39

Youd be lucky to catch me doing a 1k run normally never mind any other time. Good luck tho.

Mrswizz · 29/08/2007 15:41

RE running - am going to have to give up my gym membership as its too expensive so I thought I'd enter some running races to keep me fit and give me a little me-time whilst training. I started running last year to get in shape for my wedding and quite enjoy it. Will be breathing out of my arse to start off with, am so unfit now.

mixedmama · 29/08/2007 15:42

Lukcy for me the estate (they like to call it a development) has an onsite gym which is included in service charge so will be using that a lot.

MotherofZ · 29/08/2007 15:45

think i might just get one of those aerobic videos (never done it before - but worth a try!)

mixedmama · 29/08/2007 15:50

The thing wwith DVD's is you have to find the one that works for you and thata can take a few wrong ones before you get there.

I bought the Lilia Kopylova (from Strictly Come Dancing)Latinasize as I love dancing and it is the one physical activity that i am actuaally any good at. I love it. the work outs are 15 mins each which lets face it will soemtimes be all you can spare and a great Bellydance one (this took some trial and error as i am very very into bellydance) in the end settled on bellydance aerobicss oz style and iit is wicked (sound about 15 - sorry). Also tried the Bollywood danc eone as I love Bollywoodd films and music, but the music was nothing filmi and just didnt like it but do alot of danicng around to CD's and films.... esp after I do Lilias salsa puts me in the mood ffor dancing.

Neuro · 29/08/2007 15:59

what gets rid of wobbly upper thighs?! mine aren't particularly fat, they're just wobbly!

I think i'd quite like running once i'd stopped having heart attacks, but long term back injury won't allow. Would power walking (with a pram) have the same affect?

Lucky you MM having an onsite gym..

mixedmama · 29/08/2007 16:03

swimming is really good for toning, thighs, bingo wings whatever.

davina's DVD's are supposed to be good.

mixedmama · 29/08/2007 16:05

I love swimming - that is the only other physical thing I am quite good at.
