Expecting twins in 2020?

Is anyone else expecting twins (or more!) in 2020? I just found out I am. They’ll be our first. Technically due in April, although reality means probably March. Would love to share with other mums in the same situation as I’m now reading a whole new set of baby books and articles!

Hi girls, can I join? I'm almost 9 weeks and found out at an early scan this week that it's twins! 🙀😍
Really happy, but overwhelmed about it all at the mo. Already have a DD who is 3, never thought I'd have 3 kids!
Will be excited to gain any pearls of wisdom! Xx

Ummusomebody · 18/01/2020 16:53

@squiff70 sorry about your loss and wishing you and your little fighter daughter the very best.

Ummusomebody · 18/01/2020 16:54

Everyone else is it normal for the bump to be slightly more uncomfortable. Don't even have a real bump yet but each time my daughter presses, it's slightly tender. Finally had my 12 weeks scan and pleased that is dcda.

Jemstar33 · 18/01/2020 17:45

Congratulations @Ummusomebody how lovely! Mine are DCDA too, I'm currently 21 weeks and I can't say I've had any tenderness but this is my first pregnancy so I haven't got anything to compare to. How have you been feeling generally?

@jemstar33 generally fine but I had hyperemesis which is starting to get a bit better. Its not like I'm in pain. Its just don't really have a bump so wasn't expecting any discomfort

Jahzmine · 30/01/2020 16:34

Hiya everyone long time since I've been on, I lost the thread.

I am now 37 weeks with my dcda twin boys and I have been booked in to be induced on Sunday.

I am a bit curious as to anyone elses stories when being induced.

Thank you in advance 🖤

MrsEG · 31/01/2020 14:20

@Jahzmine Good luck with your induction! I have no advice - my c-section is booked for next Tuesday! But just wanted to say I hope everything goes really well :)

Ladybug84 · 02/02/2020 18:57

Hi @Jahzmine hope everything is going well today for you and @MrsEG good luck for next week!!

I've started researching on car seats and I'm going crazy with all the options and possibilities. Can I ask what are you all gone for and your experiences? I want to buy something sensible money wise without compromising safety and space in the car. Thanks!

Jemstar33 · 08/02/2020 08:24

@Jahzmine @MrsEG hope everything went well for you both ❤️

@ladybug84 Prob not the best person to give advice as initially we've have gone for the ones compatible with our pram, they're the Jolie I-Gemm. The reviews seem to be good.

Jahzmine · 08/02/2020 09:22

@MrsEGI hope everything went well for you ❤️

@Ladybug84 @Jemstar33 thank you both

Jahzmine · 08/02/2020 09:28

My waters burst the night before I was going to be induced. By 2.50pm on Sunday I gave birth vaginally to my 2 boys using only gas and air. We are all happy and healthy 🖤🖤

Wow @Jahzmine you're superwoman. Congratulations they're beautiful

MrsEG · 08/02/2020 10:38

Wow @Jahzmine what beauties. Well done!

I went in to a very slow labour two days before my section but made it to our scheduled date and had our boys on Tuesday - 7lb 3 and 5lb 14. Were all home now and trying to figure out this new way of life!!

@MrsEG thank you and right back at you!!! Look how adorable they're! . What nice healthy weights they are aswell! Figuring out this new way of life will be hard for us but will be 100% worth it. 🖤🖤

Jemstar33 · 08/02/2020 16:43

@MrsEG wow what beauty's, congratulations.

These photos are making me so emotional and sooo excited!

Wishing56 · 13/02/2020 15:00

Hi All

Been a while since I have been on here. My identical twins girls arrived via planned c-section on the 30th January weighing 5lb 5oz and 6lb 3oz. We stayed 4 nights in hospital as both twins went over 48hrs without a dirty nappy.

Recovery has so far been much easier than I thought it would be. I just have to listen to my body as it soon tells me when I have done too much.
Been trying to get the twins in a routine of 3 hourly feeds so i get little blocks of sleep.
As much as it is tiring I wouldn't change it for the world and i am absolutely besotted with them.

Jemstar33 · 20/02/2020 19:52

@Wishing56 congratulations! Glad to hear you're doing well and hope you'll get more sleep too.
Can I ask how many weeks you were when you had your section?
I've a planned section at 37 weeks, trying to find out how long we/babies can expect to stay in, 4 days doesn't sound too bad.

Wishing56 · 21/02/2020 06:14

Hi @Jemstar33 I was 36+3 when i had the section.
If the girls had done a dirty nappy we would have been out in 2 nights but definitely recommend overpacking. I had enough stuff for myself (except maternity pads and snacks!), but needed some more clothes for the girls. I packed 6 sleepsuits each but went through 2 a day so needed 2 more brought up by my husband. I had also packed newborn sized clothes as well as tiny baby (up to 5lbs) but newborn was huge (and still is). Xx

Jemstar33 · 21/02/2020 14:49

Thanks for the advice @Wishing56 I bet you're so happy to have them here safe.
Was your section planned at that date or did they bring it forward?
I'm trying to plan for all eventualities but I suppose it depends when they arrive. Will defo overpack sleepsuit sand maternity pads. I'm so naive, I didn't know until recently that you still bled with a section BlushXx

Did you, or has anyone else, felt more movement on one side of your bump? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but I'm 26 +3 now and getting paranoid about counting kicks. I know my girl is on my right which is where I feel most movement and boy on the left which I don't feel a lot. I suppose the movement on the right could be boy too.

Wishing56 · 21/02/2020 15:05

@Jemstar33 they came on the planned section date. If I went into spontaneous labour before they said I just would have had to call up and go straight in. They would have just put me in for next c section slot.

Yeah unfortunately you still get the bleeding for 4-6weeks.

Twin 2 who was on my left was always a lot more active than twin 1 on my right. I went to get checked when i was 27weeks as Twin 1 was a bit quiet. If you ever have a doubt and questioning yourself then its best to get checked just for your peace of mind.

BristolBones · 28/02/2020 09:38

Hi everyone. I'm 21 weeks with DCDA twins and since yesterday have been experiencing Braxton Hicks. Feel it across the stomach for around 20 secs, no more than 2 per hour and not every hour. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

Jemstar33 · 03/03/2020 20:37

@BristolBones hey, congratulations! I'm not much help sorry, I've not had any braxton hicks up to now. I'll be 28 weeks tomorrow.
Are you still getting them?

twinmum2017 · 03/03/2020 21:20

@BristolBones - a lot of twin mums I know experiences braxton hics from quite early on and throughout the rest of their pregnancy.
I don't think you need to worry as long as they're not regular or painful.

I had them myself from 22 weeks up until 34 when I delivered. Mine were kick started by ttts surgery so not the same.

If in any doubt call triage and get some advice.

BristolBones · 03/03/2020 21:56

@Jemstar33 @twinmum2017 I've not had them since Thurs/Fri. I rang triage on Fri and they didn't seem concerned as not painful but told me to see my local midwife for reassurance. Had an appointment yesterday and they heard both heartbeats - I've been feeling them loads anyway so wasn't too worried. You can apparently get them more with twins and also if it's not your first pregnancy. I'd done a lot more walking than usual on Thursday as well so might be my body telling me to slow down!
