Yay! Well done Megan!! I hope for similar reasonableness at mine. Subway salad bowls or Nando's Salads are good low carb options if you have any near you. We ate in a weatherspoons on Sunday (needed to be quick and child friendly) and I had a jacket pot with tuna mayo and cheese (it was a really small pot) and got a good reading too.

That's great news @Stroan glad you find someone to listen.

RonaldWeasley · 03/07/2019 17:17

Glad to hear you're finally being (hopefully!) listened to @Stroan, with all the chat around mental health now it's hard to believe the official response can still be 'chin up' 🙄

@PumpkinPatch000 Harry Potter nerds unite 😂 Ron Weasley is the name of my cat as well, he's a ginger monster.

Megan2018 · 03/07/2019 17:25

I might try them again @Stroan, but I had nuggets after my first appointment and got a 9! But we were allowed to cheat that day, to see how bad what we eat was. It might have been the fries

Stroan · 03/07/2019 17:40

Ah yeah, I only eat about 10 fries if I have any. Bread is my GD kryptonite but most other sensible things are ok.

PumpkinPatch000 · 03/07/2019 18:03

@RonaldWeasley awww sweet!! LOVE it!

kyles101 · 03/07/2019 18:03

I love a whole meal pitta bread with my salads but they seem to (some days) put my readings closer to the upper lim than I'd like so I've got some smaller seeded ones to try. Fingers crossed!! The low carb seeded bread seemed slightly better than whole meal granary I was using too so thanks for that suggestion @Megan2018

Puglover88 · 03/07/2019 18:34

@MrsCatKins I had to have an appointment with a consultant recently as I had an operation two years ago for an anal fissure and because it was in the last two years, they wanted me to see a specialist to discuss if I would need a c-section due to the risk of scar tissue tearing. He said I shouldn’t need it as it should be completely healed but I’d imagine if I’d have had it recently, it might have been a different story. I do remember it took a looong time to heal (due to that particular body part being used every day!) so maybe think about how you feel physically as well.

I’d write down all the questions you want to ask the surgeon before you see them. I always end up leaving appointments thinking ‘I wish I’d have asked that!

Puglover88 · 03/07/2019 18:40

@Stroan sorry to hear that you are struggling - big hugs! It can be so hard when it just feels like there’s one thing after another. So annoying as well when you don’t feel like you’re being listened to! Hopefully the messages on here have made you feel a little better 😊

DustyDoorframes · 03/07/2019 18:48

Ouf @Stroan you ARE coping amazingly, but you've had such a lot thrown at you this pregnancy, nobody can be expected to skip through it all cheerily!! I'm v glad your gp swung into action. Does Tuesday feel too far away? You can ring the perinatal team and say so. They are an MH team. They deal with crises, that's what they do, so if you are having one you can say so! Thanks

Really thinking of you @TwittleBee . I hope things are stabilising. Thanks

MrsCatKins · 03/07/2019 18:58

@Puglover88 that's really helpful thank you!!! It's a very very similar problem that I'm suffering with unfortunately! I will go armed with a list full of questions and if I'm still not satisfied then I will opt for the section!

happydays00 · 03/07/2019 20:44

🙋‍♀️another HP nerd here. And speaking of which, my DDs key worker at nursery is another HP fan and is leaving next Monday, I need to get her a present... any innovative Potter themed ideas?!

Whisky2014 · 03/07/2019 20:49

So has the NEXT sale started now or is it the weekend? I'm just on the site but there's nothing saying sale?!

Hsunshine · 03/07/2019 20:53

@whisky2014 it’s online with people for VIP slots, if you have an account you can log in and access it. Literally everything is sold out though

Whisky2014 · 03/07/2019 20:54

Oh!

Whisky2014 · 03/07/2019 21:21

You have to have a next pay account not just a normal account.
So if everything's almost sold out now what happens when the sale opens on Saturday?!

iano · 03/07/2019 21:26

@Stroan call the perinatal team or refer yourself to your iapt team. If you go for iapt say you' re pregnant on the online form and you'll get a call really quickly.
I saw someone in less than a week. I developed PTSD after a traumatic birth and complications after having my first. Started having flash backs which was stopping me from sleeping at around 20 weeks. Much better now. I was so impressed with how quickly they were able to see me.

Stroan · 03/07/2019 21:47

@whisky2014 that's why I always go to the shop for the sale, the website is useless by the time all the VIPs have had their pick!

I think you have to spend a certain amount in your account too.

Stroan · 03/07/2019 21:53

Thanks @iano I'm under the care of the perinatal team already - they said I was fine buy a different nurse is coming out on Tuesday. No IAPT in Scotland unfortunately.

DH wants me to speak to the nurse about DDs birth. He's said a few times that he thinks I have PTSD and how I have reacted today to the suggestion of a vaginal birth is really extreme.

Megan2018 · 03/07/2019 21:56

I couldn’t get anything in my NEXT slot, not a surprise sadly. Will have another look as sometimes things that were out of stock come back in, but I want to get the hospital clothes washed and packed so will look elsewhere for those.

I’ve packed everything else-just things like snacks to add plus things that are last minute like chargers and nursing bras as can’t get those until later.

I’ve got a bag for me, bag for baby plus an overflow bag for the car that has baby clothes in a bigger size, more big knickers, more maternity pads and more nappies in case we need them/are in longer.

Spent 2 hours in Mothercare today with my 2 favourite pushchairs side by side going through every inch of them. Had 2 very helpful members of staff helping. Decision made I think. Will sleep on it first though!

Then it is just the car seat to sort Hmm

DustyDoorframes · 03/07/2019 22:05

@Stroan a different nurse sounds like good news! I know a couple of people who have had birth related PTSD, both of whom found getting it acknowledged hugely healing.
(And for the first timers- the VAST majority of births don't give people PTSD! Scary though the possibility is!)

@Megan2018 wot, both you and @IVEgottheDECAF getting your pram chosen and ordered this week???? What on earth will we talk about after that???

Stroan · 03/07/2019 22:08

@dustydoorframes Tuesday is okay I think. I'm going to take tomorrow off and then I'm not back at work until Tuesday so can hopefully relax a bit over the weekend. I just couldn't function today at all, I think I cried for more hours than I didn't so was a complete waste of space.

I think I have this really silly habit of saying how I feel and then rationalising it - so the pros probably think I'm much better than I am.

Karigan195 · 03/07/2019 22:08

For first timers: things have changed radically even in just the last few years! I have been amazed by how much more the focus is on the mums comfort and wishes rather than the make it easy for the consultant wires and stuck on a bed I had for my first birth.

Stroan · 03/07/2019 22:14

@dustydoorframes that's interesting, I've been so scared to admit how I've felt throughout this pregnancy (I had some very extreme and distressing thoughts in the first four months) but someone just acknowledging it all helps. Just accepting that my brain is reacting perfectly normally to an abnormal situation.

Megan2018 · 03/07/2019 22:24

Does anyone know how much weight you should have gained by 30 wks? Got weighed at clinic today, first time since booking in, gone up 4.3kg since 6+1. Is that crap or ok? I have no idea as no scales at home and not paid any attention!

db92 · 03/07/2019 22:26

Last time I was weighed @Megan2018 I was up 9kg! One midwife said it was too much but another said it was spot on so I have no idea what's ok or not!
