@Bentley111 I really hope the sickness passes for you soon, it must be awful! Hopefully they can give you different tablets? I stopped taking mine because they wasn't working but luckily I seem to be doing better. I just have a nap when I'm starting to feel sick and I have noticed it's true that when I'm hungry it's awful but snacking every hour is so much effort!

Yea, it's better to be prepared instead of getting the results then having to wait for another appointment to discuss options. From what I've read it'll be a lot of monitoring for you if they're still there, but it's not bad news. From the bad case ones they've had to do blood transfusions in the womb (which I know sounds scary but seems quite common) and early delivery and transfusion when they're born. The ones I've read it's had zero effect on their lives though.

Bentley111 · 17/06/2019 10:29

I'm hoping they will give me some different tablets @DaisyMay25 - the ones I've got are better than nothing but the nausea just doesn't go! I find that napping helps too... snacking to combat the sickness isn't really effective in my case - is it working for you?
It is miserable isn't it 😩

I think we've read similar. Blood transfusions in the womb sounds terrifying but apparently it is quite a routine procedure? Amazing how they can do that! Hopefully more monitoring will just mean better care for me and the baby. I do hope that it doesn't mean I have to give birth in the hospital - I've elected for the MLU in the hospital which is brand new and really highly rated whilst the hospital delivery suite itself apparently needs improvement 🙈 makes me ill just thinking about it.

DaisyMay25 · 17/06/2019 10:35

@Bentley111 I was on cyclizine (which I had taken previously and they worked) but they didn't seem to work so was given ondansetatron but they made me feel horrendous. I find it hard at work but I force myself to smack and drink water and it helps a little. I make sure I have breakfast too or I'm awful.

I know what you mean, sounds complex but I'm sure it's not. Hopefully though your results are fine! I don't have s choice for mine, I have to have a hospital birth and not even in a birth suite, has to be on the labour ward!

I'm assuming you'll get your results back tomorrow? I have everything crossed for you!!

Bentley111 · 17/06/2019 10:42

In what way did the ondansetatron make you feel horrendous @DaisyMay25? I've read some good things about it and was going to suggest that today 🙈
Oh god poor you. Labour ward would be my worst nightmare 😩
Thank you - I'm hoping tomorrow or Weds!

DaisyMay25 · 17/06/2019 10:47

@Bentley111 it completely wiped me out! I've heard great things about it too I just didn't get on with it. Also I think my doctor gave me too high of a dose, the hospital gave me 4mg and she gave me 8mg so that's probably why I was wiped out!

DinoGreen · 17/06/2019 11:06

I’ve just had my booking in appointment, all starting to feel much more real now! I have to wait a couple of days for the system to update and then I can call to book my 12 week scan. It will be nice to have that arranged, in the meantime, I have my private early one on Sunday, now less than a week away!

@Bentley111 honestly the labour ward is not the nightmare it is sometimes made out to be on MN! With my first I started out in the MLU but had to be transferred to the labour ward when DS got stuck. I had amazing care there and no-one tried to make it more medical than it needed to be - though actually it did need to be for the safety of my DS. Where you give birth honestly doesn’t matter.

NoMoreFastCars82 · 17/06/2019 11:47

I have just been to hinchingbrooke and had about half my blood drained for tests 😱😂🤐😷🙈

First time I've taken a needle and not hyperventilated or fainted lol!! I'm quite proud of myself x

Hope everyone else is feeling ok today? X

DaisyMay25 · 17/06/2019 11:58

@DinoGreen glad your appointment went well! Hopefully you get a scan appointment soon. Sunday will be here soon enough.

@NoMoreFastCars82 well done! Hopefully all your results are fine.

I'm better today but I'm quite mad and upset with my BIL and I don't know if I'm being unreasonable?

I'll explain, FIL is buying us a cheap second hand car when DH passes his test because he did that for his step daughter and it's only fair to treat all the children the same. He has recently asked BIL if he's okay with it as he won't be buying him one because when he met his DP she already had her own house and car so they don't need it. Anyway BIL has expressed his concern that he doesn't think me and DH will be able to afford to run a car.
I'm very insulted by this.
It wasn't that long ago that his partner made a comment that upset me too.
I don't understand why they're looking down on us? We both work full time, not amazingly paid jobs but still enough.
I feel like he's also saying we can't afford a child. I've told DH I'm upset by the comment but yes not going to address it so I've said I just don't want contact with them for a while as they've upset me twice since being pregnant.
AIBU?

BowiesJumper · 17/06/2019 12:12

I gave birth on the labour ward (well, technically gave birth in the operating theatre, but I laboured on the labour ward). I had to because I was on a drip, as I was puking with literally every contraction (fun).

It's still a private room, so it was absolutely fine, and because it meant I could have an epidural (best thing that ever happened to me), I didn't care where I was!

The postnatal ward on the other hand... hideous.

DaisyMay25 · 17/06/2019 12:14

@BowiesJumper I've already decided I want an epidural, would you recommend it? I hope you have a better time this Labour!

BowiesJumper · 17/06/2019 12:16

@DaisyMay25 what did your FIL say about this? I would be a bit insulted too! Is BIL genuinely concerned or is it faux concern to make a dig?

DaisyMay25 · 17/06/2019 12:19

@BowiesJumper I think he just didn't get involved but I'm just very insulted. I'm not sure if he's concerned, and I'm not sure where he's gotten it from either we've never expressed we're struggling (we're not) DH will not discuss it with him though as him and his twin are very close. I just don't liked being looked down on so I'm not sure what to do from here

BowiesJumper · 17/06/2019 12:23

DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT BIRTH DETAILS!
@DaisyMay25 I'm not going to lie, I thought I had a high pain threshold and would be ok with labour. I used to have REALLY painful periods etc. But I was a bit unlucky and had back to back labour, so it was a bit more painful, and I had the two paracetamol they offer at the start (REALLY??), and then the pethadine injection - did nothing. Gas and air was a nice distraction, but didn't do anything for the pain. So yes, the epidural was HEAVEN. I nearly kissed the anesthetist who administered it. It was a self dosing one after that, so I had to push the button when I wanted a top up, so did have the option for a lower dose where I could be more mobile, but by that point I'd had enough and I pushed it so much that my legs went numb and I had to ask my husband to move them for me Grin
It was amazing. I had an emergency c-section because I didn't dilate past 8cm, despite hours of contractions (nothing to do with the epidural!) and the baby was starting to show a few signs of distress, so they whipped him out. I could still have pushed with the epidural etc. All fine in the end!

mynameisMrG · 17/06/2019 12:35

Are you giving birth at Hinchingbrooke @NoMoreFastCars82

OP posts:
DaisyMay25 · 17/06/2019 12:36

@BowiesJumper thank you, I don't mind info about births and that was very helpful. I know my birth plan is way off but I like to be prepared

NoMoreFastCars82 · 17/06/2019 12:57

@BowiesJumper epidural it is after reading that 😂😂🤐 x

@mynameisMrG that's my plan, it's classed as out of area Cos I'm in Northants but only 20 mins from hinchingbrooke and moving that way so Kettering will be too far and I deffo don't want Peterborough x

Was very nice there I must admit x

CatRash · 17/06/2019 13:18

I also had an epidural @DaisyMay25 and would prefer not to have one this time (if I'm even allowed a vbac). I was vomitting every contraction like @BowiesJumper but had the epidural because it's helps regulate blood pressure (I had pre-eclampsia) and they were about to stick me on the hormone drip which is apparently excruciating without an epidural (I was induced). I didn't get much choice in the matter.

It was good in that I stopped vomitting quite so much and wasn't in pain. It was a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde moment and I remember saying to the midwife "see I'm nice really" because prior to the epidural I was just a vomitting, swearing anti-christ 😂

However, I couldn't really push as couldn't really feel anything to push. I was pushing and pushing (and it felt like I was pushing nothing) for two hours! I ended up having to go into surgery for a forceps delivery. I believe statiscally labours with an epidural are more likely to end with an assisted delivery.

CatRash · 17/06/2019 13:21

Also because they dosed me up for the forceps delivery I couldn't leave me bed after birth (or even move my legs) for HOURS!

Or control my bowels...

And to think people worry about pooping during labour 😂

mynameisMrG · 17/06/2019 13:39

Aw @NoMoreFastCars82 we may be there at the same time 😊 I had my DS there and two losses and I cannot fault them at all

OP posts:
Bentley111 · 17/06/2019 13:58

Oh god these birth stories 🙉🙉🙉

NoMoreFastCars82 · 17/06/2019 14:02

@mynameisMrG when's your due date? X

mynameisMrG · 17/06/2019 14:15

@NoMoreFastCars82 7th Jan but probably go early. You?

@Bentley111 if it makes you feel better I had a dream labour with my DS. Woke up to my waters breaking, three hours later he was born 😊 couldn’t fault it really.

OP posts:
anitagreen · 17/06/2019 14:28

I'm hoping my labours are like my others my first was 1h 45 mins back to back and she came out face upwards looking at us, no pain relief no stitches no tears but veryyy painful, my second was 45 mins mild period pain no stitches or pain relief again and was really good, this one I've been told I've got a fast labouring condition so be on standby in the later stages of pregnancy, but I want to use the pool so I'm hoping it won't be as quick as others. I also puke after giving birth for some reason just the once but I always do Grin

Bentley111 · 17/06/2019 14:28

The midwife did my my blood this time was so quick and easy! Will definitely get her to do it in the future as opposed to the student 🙈
She said the chances are it’s trace anti d from the anti d jab I had after the mc in May 2017. The blood work I had today is to double check this.
They’ll check the baby’s blood type at the ultrasound scan next week - as DH is positive, and positive is the dominant type, baby is very much likely to be positive and I will need the anti d injection at 28 weeks and at birth.
If they find that the antibody isn’t anti d, I will need monitoring and more frequent anti d jabs as the baby is at risk of developing anaemia, but she thinks it’s very unlikely. Considering I had the anti d injection before, so will have traces of it in my blood, she is highly doubtful there will be any problems with baby.
Feeling so, so relieved.
Now back in the waiting room to hopefully get some new meds 🤢🤞🏼

Bentley111 · 17/06/2019 14:29
