@Florencenotflo I love your baby evacuation plan, I might have to borrow a few things from that list!

I haven’t started doing any pelvic floor exercises yet, think I should probably start soon - I have joined a pregnancy yoga class though and there are 16 of us there so it’s quite nice to chat with other local pregnant ladies.

Can anyone recommend a good pregnancy pillow? I keep going to sleep on my side and waking up on my back so want to get something that keeps me in the optimum position!

Florencenotflo · 19/06/2019 19:47

@Puglover88 feel free to nick any ideas you like. Unfortunately so far for me it has a 0% success rate. Dd was 10 days over 😂 but I didn't take it very seriously last time, was happy for her to come when she was ready. Plus I wanted to avoid her having a Christmas Day birthday so wasn't speeding anything up!

Whisky2014 · 19/06/2019 19:47

What the fuck. I'm 14.5 stone. The heaviest I have EVER been. I'm so pissed off.
And usually it's the last 2 months you see pregnant woman fill out. Oh fuck sake. I hate this.

KnobJockey · 19/06/2019 20:20

@Puglover88 I have this one but be warned, it's massive! We only have a double bed, and it's a struggle to fit in me, my pillow and dp Grin

@Whisky2014 I really daren't weigh myself- I have no doubt I'll be up to that weight too.

RonaldWeasley · 19/06/2019 20:26

@Puglover88 I have a dreamgenii which my friend swore by but honestly I can't get on with it. Hip pain makes me need to turn over loads in the night which makes me shift it out of position and get knotted up in it. I know it's generally loved though so may just be me.

I'd rather have one of the massive full wrap-around ones but might need a bigger bed first!

KnobJockey · 19/06/2019 20:29

When do I need to worry about tightenings/ Braxton Hicks? I've been having them very often since 4pm, but not in a particularly regular pattern, they just seem to spike up as I do anything/ stand up, although I am getting them while I'm just sat or laid too. They are very uncomfortable. Just about to run a bath to see if that helps, but wondering if I should call my midwife or if I'm overreacting.

Hsunshine · 19/06/2019 20:32

@RonaldWeasley I have a dreamgenii too, it just makes me far too hot and now lives on the floor

RonaldWeasley · 19/06/2019 20:37

@Hsunshine same 😂. My cat likes to spoon it though so at least someone in the house is making use of it

Puglover88 · 19/06/2019 20:40

Thanks guys, I was looking at the dreamgenii but it’s quite pricy, I do like the look of the Asda one, my OH is already in the spare room most nights as he keeps getting attacked by all the pillows I’m stacking around me! 😂

Dyra · 19/06/2019 20:59

I picked up a cheapie body pillow at the Baby show. Like all the others it usually winds up on the floor at some point in the night. DH will use it the next time he gets a cold so it will come in useful eventually.

Stroan · 19/06/2019 20:59

I don't get on with pregnancy pillows, I get too hot and irritated. But I've been sleeping with a huge, feather cushion between my legs. It's heavy so stops me rolling onto my back.

@whisky2014 it's so hard to see how much your body changes. The weight could be anything at this stage though. Fluid retention etc. I'm WAY more than that and pretty disgusted with myself, but I'm losing it now thanks to the GD diet. Not that I'd recommend it...

Stroan · 19/06/2019 21:01

I have to be super nice to DH for at least a few hours. Maybe even until tomorrow. He just raced to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for peppermint Peptac before they closed. No more aniseed gavison! He is my actual hero (today, we'll see how things stand tomorrow!)

BBell2 · 19/06/2019 21:02

@TheCraicDealer you are right about the French, a lady on my first bus is Parisian, three visits to vag physio as the norm and more if you need it! They take their stuff seriously :) thank you @Twittlebee will be reading that info and squeezing a little less hardcore (like I'm about to bust a blood vessel is my normal look!)

TwittleBee · 19/06/2019 21:05

@KnobJockey give your MW or triage a call and see what they say. Always good to get checked out if unsure.

Florencenotflo · 19/06/2019 21:12

@KnobJockey I've been having braxton hicks and tightenings quite regularly. They usually start when I do something like walking around or carrying washing around, but I've noticed them when I stop doing something too.

If you're worried give your midwife a call.

Whisky2014 · 19/06/2019 21:16

Lol stroan. That's nice your husband did that :)

I haven't bought a pillow either. Just figured I'd use any spare pillows we do have but actually haven't bothered with them either.

I fought a glimpse of my reflection in a bank earlier today and was like OMG I am huggeee!

TheCraicDealer · 19/06/2019 21:27

Thanks everyone- luckily original boss (and still officially my line manager) is a dad of five and knows the score! He was the one that put July as the cut-off anyway.

Re. pregnancy pillows I got a BBhugMe and love it. I was on holiday thinking I didn't want to come home and then cheered myself up by reminding myself I could use the pillow again Blush The traditional pillows didn't appeal as I knew I'd get too hot, but the BBhugMe doesn't heat up so much. It's fucking silly money but if you're desperate or can get one secondhand i would 100% recommend.

Stroan · 19/06/2019 21:42

@thecraicdealer glad your boss is sensible! Do you have to do extra risk assessments to go on site? Would hardly be worth the paperwork!

Stroan · 19/06/2019 21:45

@whisky2014 I don't think he wanted to hear me whine about heartburn!

kyles101 · 20/06/2019 07:34

Talk to me about tens machines. I want one but looking on amazon there are so many and at so many different price points - do you get what you pay for or are they all much of a muchness?

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/06/2019 07:57

Never used a tens. Feel like the extra wires pads etc would piss me off!

29 weeks with a cauliflour!

kyles101 · 20/06/2019 07:59

What did you use for pain relief ivegot? How are you feeling at the minute anyway?

TwittleBee · 20/06/2019 07:59

@kyles101 I made a thread on childbirth a while ago actually as I wanna try using a tens machine (liked the feel of it during my antenatal classes last time but never got round to buying one....) Anyway, the vast majority suggested the boots one ( www.boots.com/boots-tens-maternity-unit-10185535 ) and that you should be wary what one you buy as most arent suitable for pregnancy or childbirth

OP posts:
kyles101 · 20/06/2019 08:09

Perfect, thank you @TwittleBee. That's what I wasn't sure about - are they all suitable for birth or are they different somehow?

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/06/2019 08:14

I used mainly gas and air.

I had pethidine in a moment of desperation with two of them and regretted it as soon as it kicked in. It seemed to slow everything down and that annoyed me as i felt like i was just prolonging things!

Plan is just gas and air!

I am ok. Up and down with the spd. Some days not too bad others i live on the sofa! Bump is heavy now and i struggle to bend down to pick things up!

Ive stopped having palpitations since stopped work so maybe that was stress or tiredness related
