I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

thanks mrs f - that seems to be the consensus on the preg thread also! has hardened my resolve and agree, if i waited this long - another 7 weeks is not long to wait at all! thank you!

emalushka · 14/08/2007 09:52

Hello everyone,

Don't get chance to catch up often, so I will start off by apologising for all the news I've missed.

I'm fine. Really looking forward to the baba arriving. I can't wait to be a mum. Although I'm petrified at giving birth. Haven't started on the RLT yet, leaving it until the last 2 weeks as have been told it can have a very strong effect on some people! I really don't want the baby to be born in August.

As for comments from other people - I still get 'ohh - aren't you small?' It really pisses me off. Although I am 8 months, I could still pass for not being pregnant!

Take care everyone and enjoy these last few weeks. I'm really looking forward to the birth announcements! How are you all getting on with names? I still can't decide. xx

MrsFish · 14/08/2007 09:57

Emalushka - I wish people would keep telling me I was small as long as lo is perfectly well it doesn't matter one jot, at least you'll be back in your normal clothes quickly, its gonna take me at least the 9 months to shift my excess weight New updated bump pic in my profile

I have had lo's name pretty much sorted since before I found out I was having a boy, his name will be Benjamin

emalushka · 14/08/2007 10:08

Benjamin is a lovely name. We just keep going round in circles. It probably won't have a name for a few days. I love George and Arthur (Artie), but DP not very keen. He really likes Jake, but I don't. As for girls names - zero - I am so convinced it is a boy, I can't think of any girls names at all. I may be eating my words in a few weeks.

hayley2u · 14/08/2007 10:19

sorry to be really thick what is RLT?

amy. i lost one of my twins from this pregnancy so i know how you feel, every so often i find my self wondering what should have been, and i'm nrvous about having the baby of how i'll be thinking of that day. but i'm trying to be positive.

i am going away for 4 nights next week at centre parks with my ds, my dad, my bother, sil and there baby. my partner works away so wont be coming. but he has suddenly started saying should i really be going, and i'm taking a chance. centre parks is about 2 1/2 hours away.i'll be 36 weeks. but i had we had to go to ireland last wek to see dp father who had heart attack and stayed for week, so i think i'm on much safer ground in england than ireland if anything does happen, plus if anything happens someone can get me home. he also works about 3 hours away so i d be home before him anyway.think he just wants to spoil our fun because he has to work .

DAL dont find out you v done so well to get this far, but i found out at 20 week scan so i cant talk

hayley2u · 14/08/2007 10:22

emma.,
we decided to cal our little girl lucy. but now getting nearer i'm getting doubts. but everytime i mention that to my dp he has a fit, its the only name we ve agreed on. did like molly but as we have irish links, everything over there is called molly so put me off a bit. if it was a boy i absolutley love the name toby, think its so cute also alfie is cute

dal21 · 14/08/2007 10:27

I'm still in denial - can't quite believe it is going to happen soon, feels like I have been pregnant forever, especially as I had a mc last Oct at three months too.

emalushka · 14/08/2007 10:41

Isn't it a weird time?! It's like waiting for Christmas when you were a child, but with more suspense. I'm a constant mixture of complete excitement and fear.

hayley2u · 14/08/2007 10:51

what does rasbery leaf tea actually do?
yer i'm well in denial, keep thinking as if i 'm going away never mind coming out with a baby yikes

PurpleLostPrincess · 14/08/2007 11:15

hayley, from what I've picked up, RLT gets the uterus ready for labour but not sure how or why etc. I'm thinking of getting it in tablet form for the last few weeks...

Haven't heard anything from Lou yet, I think she is our first graduate from ante-natal to post-natal... Do we then start a new thread in childbirth or parenting or something?

When I settled down (well kind of) to sleep last night I said to DH "guess what - we're having a baby!!". Sometimes its all very real and I can imagine it and get my head around it - other times it all very overwhelming and I can't believe there really will be a little baby in the house! I'm so excited and yet worried about being ready in time!

MrsMar · 14/08/2007 11:15

Morning everyone...

LOL seamonster at your private room with staff!!! I must admit, although I'm not sure I could do it first time, home births sound great... oh to be in my own bed, tucked up with baby the first night!!! (No doubt I'd be struck with some kind of madness and end up doing houseworkd )

Emj - My hospital isn't private, it's St Georges in Tooting south London, but they do offer private rooms for a fee... it does vary across the country what facilities they can offer and how much they charge. Might be worth asking a midwife next time you see one. I think the policy is to put you on the ward if someone more needy comes along (we were told that the private rooms are given to people with prem babies or poorly babies as a priority)

Amyclaramum - I hope your ecv goes ok... I think it's a pretty small percentage of women who go in to labour afterwards.. I've done loads of research on it because I think I'm going to have to have it too. I'm sure you'll get your September birth. I can totally understand why it would upset you if the baby was born so close to the due date of the baby you lost.

PLP - sorry to hear about the long wait for CBT. I hope the new tablets help a bit and he's ok as work starts to wind down. What does he do? Is his work very seasonal?

Jemima... your baby sounds just like mine, a chocoholic!!! I'm glad he/she sprang back to life... not much chance of mine being inactive for too long as I'm practically having a bar of chocolate a day !!

Dal - I guess around now you'll be having your scan... did you crack and decide to find out what flavour baby you're having??

emalushka - I get the "aren't you small" comments too (not me actually, I'm quite a porker, but the bump!) It is annoying... I have to go in to long winded explanations of how he's wrapped around my abdomen at the moment, hence smallness of bump!

MrsFish - Benjamin is a lovely name... All the Ben's I know (grown up and little) are really lovely (I'm sure that's meaningless to you, but I always associate the name Ben with nice people now!)

Hayley - have a good time at Centre Parcs.. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm kind of half in denial and half not... I keep looking at people with little boys and thinking crikey that'll be me in 5 weeks !!!!!!! !!!

RLT I'm reliably informed by my midwife is a natural supplement that can improve the tonal quality of the uterus so drinking it or taking the tablets from about 36 weeks can mean a quicker more efficient labour.

There's some information about it here

Hope that helps!! Have a lovely day everyone, despite the miserable weather

xxx

amyclaramum · 14/08/2007 11:22

Thanks for your kind messages ! Am so sorry about your twin Hayley and also to Jemima, Plp and Mrs Fish for previous m/c. Dates can be so important can't they - you just don't forget them. Here's hoping we all get the September dates we want !

Re Names we like a few and will decide when she is born - it is hard to find names to go with the other 2 DD'S and we have already used up our favourites (don't tell lo that !)AT the moment she will be Emma, Eloise , Eva or Lily . And if its a boy after all I will go into shock and he won't have a name for a while !

PLP - can't believe your DH has to wait so long ! Are there no other Counselling services/charities that you can try ? Glad you have your Dc's back.

MrsBumblebee · 14/08/2007 11:36

Morning all.

We really haven't got our arses in gear with names yet (even though we know we're having a boy!). I've made a sort of list, though when I looked at it again yesterday I thought 'why the hell did I put that down?' for about half of them. It makes me worried that we'll choose a name and then regret it a few weeks later once it's too late. But anyway, DH hasn't even started thinking about names yet. I keep shoving the book of 40,000 baby names under his nose, but I think it makes the whole thing seem a bit too real for him .

My NHS hospital does private rooms too, but they're £200 a night, so no chance. Particularly as I've been told you only stay one night as long as everything's normal.

On another subject, is anyone buying one of those maternity mats to sit/sleep on in case your waters break?

MrsBumblebee, I've heard about them but haven't seen them in the shops yet (haven't actively looked yet to be fair!). I was thinking of getting some for afterwards so I don't stain the bed sheets. I've heard they're like disposable changing mats and that you can get them in purple!!!!!! Do you know where we can buy them?

We were going to have either 'Cerys' or 'Amethyst' as the first name but DH keeps saying he is in love with the name Cerys so it looks like our baby will be called... (ready for this!) Cerys Amethyst Grace Emmeline (surname). Is that too much do you think?

hayley2u · 14/08/2007 12:00

do you think you can take rlt if having a c section, or am i really not getting the drift. did read the link you sent thanks

hayley2u · 14/08/2007 12:04

purple, no i think its lovely. i'm still not sure on middle names.
so far we 'v got. lucinder(or a)hayley sunderland lawrenson.
not too keen on the hayley dp wants it though(should be flatted). does that sound daft?

Tinkjon · 14/08/2007 12:26

Congrats about negative GTT, Hayley! As for private rooms, after my last C-section I was told that I had to stay on the C-section ward which was near the nurse's station so that they could keep an eye on you (although I was ignored for most of my stay!) but it's definitely worth asking. It's nice to have someone to talk to but nobody on my ward spoke at all (literally, not one word!) and I hated sharing so am definitely going to ask if it's possible after cs. Also, I don't think there's any point in taking RLT if you're booked in for a cs - I'd especially avoid it as we are both worried about going into labour before section date!

Tinkjon · 14/08/2007 12:28

Forgot to add for Jemima - my midwife suggested another thing to try if the baby isn't moving is rhythmically banging a saucepan close to your stomach. Not that I'm sure you'll need to worry about that again, but just in case!

emj23 · 14/08/2007 12:53

Purple and hayley, your baby names are lovely! We have had LO's middle name decided for ages (as it's a family name on DP's side) but keep changing our minds on first name. It was down to three choices but then my best friend used one of them for her dog, which has put me off it, cute as the dog is

trinity1 · 14/08/2007 13:01

FioFio, with DD#1 we paid for a private room - was much more than £22 though. St Richards in Chichester charged us £55 but it was worth it in the end as during the night I could hear one baby's screaming set all the others off one by one in the ward as DD#1 slept peacefully!

We have settled on a name for DD#2 - Oriana. Not sure of a middle name yet but we didn't agree on DD#1's middle name (Savannah) until the day before she was born. Fell pregnant again when DD was 5 months old so am looking forward to not being pregnant again for a while!!! Just over 2 weeks to go and am excited but terrified in equal measure!

MrsMar · 14/08/2007 13:22

I'm not sure about the rlt if you're having a cs.... I'm going to start taking it this week anyway, they won't make a decision about cs until much later to see if the baby turns... it would be just my luck that I stop taking it and the baby turns, and then my flabby old uterus can't cope !! I'm also carrying on with my perineal massage, just in case the baby turns.

One thing that has occured to me, will taking rlt prevent the baby turning? if it tones the uterus and causes mild muscle flexes in the uterus, can this restrict room and stop the baby from turning? Hmmmm oh what to do??? decisions decisions!!

PLP - Cerys is a lovely name, I don't think the name is too much, her middle names won't be used every day so she'll be Cerys It's a really pretty name.

We're still going to wait to see the baby's face before we commit to a name, one of our top choices was Luca, and my mum has decided she likes that most and has already started referring to him as Luca!! The cheek!! It probably will end up as Luca though....

hayley2u · 14/08/2007 13:37

oh ok so it might bring on labour too. was getting the idea it was doing the uterus good and help with healing but i'm stinking i'm so getting wrong end of stick. as for private rooms i'm gonna beg,
