I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

TinaLC · 07/08/2007 17:22

frozen peas Amyclaramum.....you just made me laugh out loud! Was that in a book or were you just hot!

dal21 · 07/08/2007 17:37

HIWBB - nope, havent had anything through yet from yourself.

TinaLC and amyclaramum - got your details through.

amyclaramum · 07/08/2007 17:39

Tina - it was on a website called "spinning babies " or something like that - the other idea was shining a torch on your pubic bone to get the baby to "swim to the light" - might try that one later !!

dal21 · 07/08/2007 17:41

HIWBB - i tell a lie. sorry! your mail is there. oops.

MrsMar · 07/08/2007 18:14

chatty - thanks for the info about engagement. I think I've got a pretty huge pelvis so maybe there's more room for him to engage early on.

Dal - great news about your work, aren't they being lovely?

I'm feeling a bit less whiney than this morning! It's dh's birthday on thursday and he's convinced none of his presents will arrive on time because of the postal strike. What I haven't told him is that so far three are here, I've wrapped them already and hidden them. I've also hidden all the cards that have arrived so far, but he thinks he's not going to get any... bless! I can't wait to surprise him on thursday morning! hehehe!

sophus · 07/08/2007 19:06

Hi all
Ahh i love not working, how did i ever have time for it?
Went to NCT catch-up this morning (we've finsihed our course). three girls have had their babies so far so there were real life tiny babies there. Made it all very very real, but oh so exciting.
Then had MW appt. All absolutely fine, blood pressure still v. low so not getting affected by the stress. Baby lying in perfect position and not engaged yet. always a great relief to know that the crazinesss i am going through isn't harming the baby just increases the risk a bit of it coming early.
Then went shopping at Waitrose and was queueing to pay when the lovely manager came up to me and asked if i would like to avoid the queue and pay at customer service. They pushed my trolley, packed my bags and took it out to the car for me. How cool is that?

Take care all.

sophus - glad to hear all is well, and that the Waitrose manager is fab!

dal21 - thanks for organising the email syndicate - you will have one from me soon too

amyclaramum - I think my babe is transverse too, or possibly plain old breech. I checked out that spinning babies website too but I am definitely not up for lying upside down on a tilted ironing board - makes me feel faint just thinking about it! Might try the frozen peas though, especially as my bump is so sore sometimes .

Started raspberry leaf tablets yesterday, 1 per day. Shop assistant recommended 2 a day from 36 weeks.

I have a sore throat and annoying cough at the moment, no idea what is going on as I can't seem to shake it. Feel well otherwise.

Just had a total baby brain moment, made a loaf cake, stuck it in the oven, put timer on and thought I must stick around so I hear the timer. Then completely forgot about it, wandered off and guess what, damn thing is burnt to a crisp. Now I have nothing to give friends who are coming round in the morning and I just cannot get up the energy to bake something else. AAAAARGH

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/08/2007 20:26

Hello all!

seamonstEr - You could go for the old traditional names like Patrick (my dads name!) or you could try this site where you get to choose types of names hth

laksa - I know what you mean about having so much to do and feeling like hyperventilating!!! It may sound like we're getting lots done but I feel like the more we do, the more work we seem to generate and there's just not going to be enough time to do it - arrrrhhhh!!! Can't believe you and kyala are having to sleep on the floor - hope you get beds soon!!!

ECATLM - bless you having toothache, I had root canal surgery when having DD1 and it wasn't much fun! Shouldn't you get it for free though? I was with a private dentist but still got it free because I was pg?? Can't believe your neighbour - how annoying!! You rant away, thats what we're here for!!

HIWBB - wow about the kids being so near to each other, thats amazing!! Haven't heard from them today to see what they've been up to... hope yours have lots of fun!! How is DH doing today?

MrsMar - poor you with the veruccas, they're bad enough when not pg!! Loving your surprises for DH's birthday!

dal21 - thats brilliant news about work, hope you manage to get some well earned rest!

amyclaramum - hope lo turns in time for Thursday!

sophus - I had a similar experience yesterday evening... I complained a while ago to our local MacD's drivethru and they promised me a free extra value meal when I next went in there. (this was a few months ago as I don't often fancy going there having worked there years ago!). I gave them my name and while I was waiting I checked out all the other lovely stuff I was intending to buy on the menu! They couldn't find my name so he took my extra value meal order then I said "ok, thats the free stuff, now for what I'm paying for!" He said don't worry, we'll do it all for free - I rubbed my bump and said "are you sure as I'm reeeaallly hungry!?". Got the whole lot for free and enjoyed every bite of it!!!!!

Well, today has been interesting to say the least!!! I went for my physio appointment (spd) and the lady was asking me how I was getting on. I was just honest and said when and where it hurts etc. expecting her to give me more exercises... Well, my jaw hit the floor when she brought out some crutches!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't bloody believe it!!!!!!! I don't have to use them around the house but I need to try them to see if they help at all and go back on Friday to review!

On top of all that, we've continued doing stuff around the house and DH's computer is now in the bedroom - ON MY DRESSING TABLE!!! He has given me a little corner for all my stuff, hummpphhhh!!!

Despite all of this, I'm feeling OK and lo is moving around nicely!

Thanks for the info on washable breastpads, I'll get some later in the week

dal21, thanks also for the clarification on e-mails etc...

Take care all!

Evening all,

Haven't read the thread yet but thought i'd post before i get interupted. had last visit to consultant today and scan to check placenta. fortunatley it's moved towards the back so it wont be in the way for the section. lo is weighing in at 5lb 9oz currently and expected to be between 7lb and 7lb 4oz when i go in. so relieved as even if i went into labour now at least she's of a reasonable size already. if i went to 42wks as with ds they reckon on 9lb+ ouch.

hope everyone is well and love to you all xx

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 07/08/2007 22:17

lumme what a day, what with toothache, lousy tubes and new curtains. i've just sat down for the first time (not counting dentists chair and enforced tube stoppages!). still, lovely bbc dentist sorted tooth for free and in a couple of minutes. phew. dreading it being something major. it might still be but feels so much better i think he's fixed it.
mrsmar i can recommend a good chiropodist on wimpole street (just about doable in a bbc lunch hour). he gets rid of all hard skin and i'm sure a verucca wouldn't phase him. feels like walking on air when you get out. anyway they're 'feet for life' (geddit?! ok, bit naff but don't hold that against him!)
nosey neighbour sounds very annoying. i think i'd see him off. it's not on wandering into someone elses garden. sounds like you put a flea in his ear anyway!

oh, almost forgot, went to primark on oxford st for first time today and got two non-mat t shirts v cheap BUT found out if you're pregnant they don't expect you to queue for tills. you go straight to one with disabled sign - at the end. felt a bit cheeky but staff insisted and i have to admit i wouldn't have waited in any of the queues i saw. so that is my tip of the day for sept mums to be!

dal21 · 08/08/2007 07:24

Morning all - finally feel a little more human this morning. was really random how the tiredness came from nowhere - i really did feel like the sloth from ice age! Work have been lovely - it really is great of them! cannot really complain!

Sophus - great news about your check up! Must be relieved

Loupy - same for you!

Canadianm - got your details - thanking you kindly!

Hope everyone had a good nights sleep - have great days!

LoopyLouLisa · 08/08/2007 09:28

Another sunny day!

Ok, so my task for the day is to pack some stuff for hospital, and as a 2nd timer you would think I would know what I'll need. However baby brain has kicked in and I can't for the life of me think of what to put in

Ideally I would like to take a bag in with me that only has the essentials for the first day, and leave another at home/in the car that has extra changes of clothes/nappies/pads etc. I can't leave anything that I might possibly need in the usual cupboards/drawers as dp is useless when it comes to finding things that are further than the end of his nose even with explicit instructions of where to locate. So I figure if it's all in a big bag he can bring it to me, I can take out what I want, and then he can take the bag back again.

Please please help me compile a list xx

Rin23 · 08/08/2007 12:04

Hi all
Just managed to catch up on messages - a nice break from work .

It's all getting a little bit closer and more exciting isn't it? I had my SIL's wedding at the weekend and now that's over the next "event" in our family is... the Birth! OMG!

Anyway, great to hear what those of you on mat leave are doing - I've got 2 weeks after this one... hurrah!
Though I'm sure the baby is still head up... I can feel something hard digging into my ribs. Naughty baby. Will start trying the frozen peas/ torch tricks as suggested by Amyclaramum soon!

Will be sending an email to you shortly Dal - thanks for sorting that out.

have a good day all - I'm feeling much better after a good night's sleep - roll on cooler weather (never thought i'd say that I am normally a sun seeker...)
x

SeamonstEr · 08/08/2007 12:19

plp I'm looking at Aedan, Fionn and [dp] Ryan.
Had a panic last night re not being ready, financially, materially or anything, but am better now!

there's a list further down the thread from emma's diary, although alot of it seem to be unnecessary imo. It was added to by some of us as well so hope that it helps.

dal21 · 08/08/2007 12:39

Rin - I have received your details also! thank you! any more for anymore?

we are measuring bumps on the oct thread - an impromptu bump watch.

I'll kick off - at 32+5 am measuring 36 inches across largest part....

MrsMar · 08/08/2007 12:50

Hi everybody!

Sophus - so glad you're enjoying your mat leave, you deserve it. I'm happy to hear all the stress isn't affecting the baby in any way. Aren't Waitrose brilliant?! I've always shopped there, even if they're not the cheapest they are so good, and the staff share all the profits which really appeals to my marxist tendencies, hehehe !

canadianmum - can I ask you how many weeks you are now? I want to do the raspberry leaf tablet or tea thing but I was told to wait to 36 weeks. I'm dying to get started cos I love the idea of toning my uterus ! Sorry but I had to LOL at the cake, I'm always doing things like that at the moment, I've got half done jobs all over the house. I left the wet washing in the machine for four days last week and it completely stunk, I had to wash it all again!!

PLP - sorry to hear you're on crutches... I've spent a fair few months on crutches myself in the past and they don't 'arf hurt your hands!!! Take it easy!

ECATLM - glad you got your tooth fixed... I didn't know there was a BBC dentist, I must look in to that, I'm such a dentist phobe I've been putting it off for years! Are they in town or White City? Thanks for the name of the chiropodist... I'm in TVC so I'm not sure I'd manage Wimpole street in a lunch hour, esp as my walking speed seems to have reduced to something like a crawl! I'm having fun (kinda) each morning in the bath trying to contort myself into funny shapes so I can reach the soles of my feet with a file to scrub off the bits killed off by the stuff the doc gave me. It takes a bit of huffing and puffing but it's nice to know I can actually still reach my feet! I even managed to paint my toenails this morning!!

Loopy - good idea to have a second bag packed in the car for a longer stay if you need to. I might have to pinch that as an idea... I wish I could offer some great ideas as to what to pack... I'm so disorganised, I'm finding it hard to get beyond nice smelly things for me and a lovely new nightie (don't normally wear anything in bed so nice excuse to treat myself!)

Has anyone had a look at the baby spinning website (just google baby spinning) it's brilliant, so funny to see pictures of babies in various positions projected on to big bellies!! I've spent all morning prodding my belly trying to find his head, but i'm rubbish at that, it all feels like one big lump apart from the hard round bit under my left ribs, that's the only discernible bit, but I couldn't tell you if that's a head or bottom!! I'm going to quiz the mw this afternoon.

Have a lovely day everyone, my ocado shop has just arrived so I'd better unpack before it all melts (I went a bit overboard on the ice cream !)

xx

MrsMar · 08/08/2007 12:52

dal - when you're measuring your bump are you measuring across the front (ie east to west) and is that all the way round or just the front half? I'll have to get the tape measure out !

dal21 · 08/08/2007 12:54

am measuring all the way round at the biggest part. not sure about the east to west bit, pulling the tape measure round my back and having it meet at the middle of my front. enjoy your icecream! I was most put out by waitrose yesterday, am going through a phase of loving rock hard pears....did they have any? no!

MrsMar · 08/08/2007 14:14

Holy Moly!! I'm hooooooge!!! I'm measuring 45 inches round at the widest part at 34 weeks!!!

However, I may have found the reason for that...

As I knew all along (never listen to doctors if your body is telling you something different) the baby is currently breech or transverse breech! Just had a mw appt and she is certain, there's absolutely nothing resembling a head in my pelvis, the lump out to my left is probably his foot and there's a hard lump on my right under my ribs which is his head.... the heartbeat was really high, dead centre above my belly button.

Hopefully that position explains my huge-ness, either that or I'd better stop on the ice cream! oops!

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 08/08/2007 14:28

aww, hayley is pregnant on The Archers. Sob. She has all this to come...

Just measured my bump and biggest bit (round hips i think) is, ahem, 114cm or 44.8inches! that's big isn't it? second baby. and i am 36+2 so won't get much bigger (will I?!)

Actually i quite like being huge. i feel fine and think bump is kind of impressive.

mrsmar i am so impressed you painted nails. i had mine done this morning as part of final chance to pamper day - actually only bit of pampering unless you count time spent on mumsnet. v happy with nice red toe nails. offsets the swollen feet nicely .
dentist is in white city. i see demir and he v nice.

i can't help wondering when i'll next have a day with no children...as a rule if dd is with the childminder i'm at work...it could be years!

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 08/08/2007 14:29

mrsmar you're beating me! now feel ashamed of not painting my own toes!

MrsMar · 08/08/2007 14:42

I'm so at being so big though... I'm sure I can only reach the toes cos he's transverse so I can squash him a bit more !! The tip with toes is to use a pale ish colour... I've gone for a kind of silvery gold (looks good with a tan!) Red is just too difficult for me to get neat when I'm at full stretch! Mind you, I'm quite a bendy girl, can still get my toes in my mouth (when not pregnant) at the grand old age of 37 - but then that's gross so how is that a useful skill?
