Realised we need another thread as the other one reached 1000!

Glad to hear scans went well today.

Who else is waiting for their harmony results now? I am hoping to get them in the next few days! But I suspect Friday at the earliest and probably next week Monday! I had the bloods taken for it Thursday morning.

@Comps83 I wish! Turns out my all carb diet over the last 8 weeks has been a bit disastrous...

How did your exam go?

December2019 · 13/06/2019 10:09

With my son I'd put on a stone already lol

Comps83 · 13/06/2019 10:22

@peasando exam doesn’t start til 2.30 which is really late
Sure it was 10am last year

NapsAndTea · 13/06/2019 10:47

@Jowd92 yeh I've had a few early ones - one also for a bleed but we had IVF so they give you some extras anyway. My due date is 27th currently!

TDLO · 13/06/2019 10:48

@Comps83 yes me! I've lost about 7 pounds. I'm a bit overweight to start with, so I think it's a combination of the diet change to really healthy food plus the no booze as you say, therefore to hangover munchies either lol!! Just keeping an eye on it but can start to see it level out now. Got a bit worried when I seen but think it's just that. Midwife wasn't concerned.

Mamabear12 · 13/06/2019 12:31

I need to buy a scale to find out. I am sure I put weight, as my boobs have grown so much and I always put weight when pregnant, I am on the slim side though, so no one can ever tell I'm pregnant for ages. I don't feel I put that much weight on yet, maybe 5lbs. I ordered a scale, just need to pick it up from argos. The weather is shit though, so don't really feel like going outside. Instead, I feel like having some leftover cake :)

We did the reveal last night with the kids. They were excited to do the reveal. They did not have much of a reaction about finding out we are having a girl. They had smiles etc..but to be honest, I think they would be happy with either. They both said before they had a preference for a boy, but no disappointment showed when they found out we are having a girl.

My little one is due 27th Dec. Had my scan Tuesday - all fine but I got a call today to say I have a higher risk of Downs (tho not too bad at 1 in 116). I have to go into the hospital tomorrow to discuss the options. Trying to think positively that 1 in 116 is low really, less than a 1% chance as the nice nurse said. Hope any of you going through the same thing are coping ok.

Mamabear12 · 13/06/2019 15:11

Hugsandpastries the next steps would be harmony test or the one they stick a needle inside the placenta to test if you want to know for sure. I was told during my scan that the harmony test would be the next step if you needed further testing. She basically said, so if you already have the harmony test, that is the most up to date and would override the NHS test. I had done the harmony test and so then I decided to opt out of getting the bloods. Although, now I am wondering if I should have gotten the bloods. But the way she talked about it, she made it sound like I did not need to, but it was up to me. Peasando, did you get your bloods taken by NHS during 12 week scan even after you had the harmony?

peasando · 13/06/2019 15:55

No - I saw my consultant before my 12 week scan and he said not to get the combined test done as I already had the harmony result. He said that due to my age I might have come out as a higher risk on the combined test when we're already pretty sure from the harmony it's all ok, and that just would have freaked me out.

He also said the harmony test is waaay more accurate than the combined test and the nhs will eventually be moving the the harmony test (or similar) as the combined test isn't really fit for purpose, so it didn't make sense to get a less accurate test when I already had the results of the accurate one.

Hugsandpastries · 13/06/2019 16:32

Thanks @Mamabear12, I hadn’t heard about this Harmony test before. Will ask the nurse about that tomorrow.

peasando · 13/06/2019 17:34

@Hugsandpastries I got the harmony test done privately but I'm pretty sure that in some areas they offer it on the nhs if the combined test puts you as high risk - definitely worth checking!

Hugsandpastries · 13/06/2019 18:27

Thanks @peasando :)

Losd · 13/06/2019 19:02

@Hugsandpastries I’m not exactly going through same thing but my baby refused point blank to allow neck fold to be measured so I have absolutely no idea if I’m high or low risk, I’m nearly 36 so chance is about 1 in 350. I personally wouldn’t have the amniocentesis test done as I’m high risk for miscarriage anyway (I know the amnio test is low risk but I’m not taking any risk!) Im just thinking what will be will be, I’ll find out in December 🥰 Hope you’re not too stressed xx

NapsAndTea · 13/06/2019 19:13

My (very hairy!) cat has decided to get poo everywhere while I'm home alone ... the carpet, the bathroom floor, the bath, the bedding, the window sill, all over his legs and tail 😩 fml - I've never scrubbed my hands with so much soap before 🙄

Hugsandpastries · 13/06/2019 19:40

Ah mine was a bit like that at first, @Losd, the sonographer got me to do all sorts of jumps so he or she would get in the right position to be measured! Did you have blood taken or decide not to do the blood tests? At nearly 36 you are still very young anyway.

I’m not too worried as from what I’ve heard Downs children often have many positives like being affectionate. I’m just not sure whether I would cope well with an additional needs child, especially as my partner is away most of the week and I already have a toddler. Will probably do the amnio.

Mamabear12 · 13/06/2019 21:21

NapsAndTea buy rubber disposable gloves, this way if you ever have to clean mess, you wear the gloves while cleaning, throw them away and you still wash your hands well after....but you have the added protection of the gloves, so most likely hands will be okay.

@Mamabear12 I definitely need to do this! My poor carpet too 😩🙄 I'll consider it good preparation for the child lol!

Funnybunnyfluff · 14/06/2019 07:45

Morning, first pregnancy here, does anyone know of a good stretch marks cream to purchase? Would like to buy it early 😁

Jowd92 · 14/06/2019 08:32

@funnybunnyfluff they say the bio oil 1 is brilliant or the coco butter one I personally tried alot and I still ended up with stretch Mark's I'm on my 4th pregnancy now and look like a road map Haha! But I dont mind my beautiful babies came from them good luck hope you find something

Funnybunnyfluff · 14/06/2019 08:39

@Jowd92
I have no issues with looking like a road map 😁.

GrannyClanger · 14/06/2019 09:03

@Hugsandpastries I’m in the same position - had my scan on Tuesday and got the call on Weds that my risk is higher at 1 in 79. I went in yesterday to have the harmony test, waiting for the results now and trying not to worry too much. Will take each step as it comes. I’ve had a sickness bug as well this week and felt terrible, but finally feeling better now!

Hugsandpastries · 14/06/2019 10:02

@Funnybunnyfluff don’t think the creams make much difference really, it’s genetic whether you get marks or not. I didn’t use any creams and escaped them with my first pregnancy. The NHS says massaging may help prevent them - www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/stretch-marks-pregnant/

Good luck with the test results @grannyclanger - glad you’ve shaken off the bug x

December2019 · 14/06/2019 10:13

@Funnybunnyfluff I smothered myself in coconut oil last pregnancy until I became allergic to anything coconut around 20 weeks 😂🙄
I used baby lotion after that but yeah I think it's totally down to genetics I didn't get them during pregnancy it was only after when I started "deflating" that they started to show up... I thought I was in the clear too 😂

RLI1105 · 14/06/2019 11:29

Another 12 week scan success story! 😁😁😁

I had mine today - baby looks great so far and was rolling around! Was difficult to take measurements (I'm still
burping from necking a Diet Coke!)

My due date has been updated too.... they put me back 4 days (which I was suspecting) so I am now 12+2 and am officially due on Christmas Day!

Funnybunnyfluff · 14/06/2019 12:12

Thank you for all the information ladies 😁
