Thought we had better start a new thread - wonder if we'll see some (more) babies arriving on this thread...

Jxtina86 that's excellent news! How cute about the hair, too! 😍

I managed to ask a midwife today about c-sections and breech/transverse babies - they still do a horizontal scar unless there's another reason not to. But if the baby is transverse (rather than upside down breech) they will try to turn it just before the op.

blueeyedviking · 13/06/2019 18:33

@jxtina86 That's great news. The waiting begins...!

Rant alert...

I've just been super emotional the last few hours. The DH is away (and he is in work mode so not being attentive at all), I'm eating too many chocolate cookies and just feeling less and less like myself.. does that sound crazy or familiar? I've just had another skin outbreak after it being a bit better for a while. And I miss my family.

Sorry rant over...

TwinkleDay · 13/06/2019 18:57

@Kentishgal no I'm not booked for a c section, it's just I heard harvesting is beneficial particularly if you are planning on having one!

I have mini syringes today to start Monday.

Anyone else have damp knickers ?

Jxtina86 · 13/06/2019 19:23

Thanks ladies - definitely in for the waiting game now!

@StargazyDrifter that rings a bell about transverse babies. I swear I saw it on an old episode of OBEM or similar.

Kentishgal · 13/06/2019 20:02

stargazydrifter that reminds me that in my last birth baby was facing the wrong way or something (can't remember which way they're meant to face) - so in the operating notes it says that they turned her before they took her out (midwife said it's in much the same way they'd have turned her with forceps if a vaginal birth had been possible) so maybe they need to be in a particular position. Aww bueeyedviking totally related to the bad skin lately (and biscuit eating) - it's hard for you being away from home, on your own and heavily pregnant - pamper yourself.

Ps jxtina86 excellent news about the scan - that's amazing about the hair - how incredible to see that on a scan!

Thanks for your kind words ladies, managed to get it done without completely falling to bits.

So exhausted from today, ready to finish work tomo.

Nice news on the scan! I still at times can’t quite process that it’s an actual baby wriggling round in there, is it just me?!

StargazyDrifter · 14/06/2019 01:24

Kentishgal that's interesting about the turning. Makes sense!

blueeyedviking completely relate to both the skin and to not feeling myself. I don't seem to enjoy anything fully, often on edge for no reason and my attention span is all over the place. I suppose I also I just feel kind of lost - not participating in my usual/old life (too tired, grumpy, uncomfortable) but also not yet in this new one, and even so I struggle to imagine what that will even be like. It's a strange time. Probably mostly nerves? Hang in there, not long now!

Capybaras · 14/06/2019 06:02

Finished work yesterday but now awake delightfully early when I was looking forward to a lie-in!
Enjoy your last day @Yukka

I've been very emotional this week, not sure if it's the hormones or the gradual realisation that life is soon to change forever. My skins also broken out again @blueeyedviking assuming it's hormones again?

Jxtina86 · 14/06/2019 08:37

@Capybaras I'm with you on being wide awake in the early hours! DH gets up at 6am anyway so I end up waking then regardless. Sometimes go back to sleep but not always.

Also yes to the skin breakouts. All over my chin. And noticed that my skin flares up on my cheeks/under eyes so much more than before. Not spots, just more likely to react if I change anything skincare wise. Always had sensitive skin but even using products supposedly for sensitive skin cause a reaction now!

TwinkleDay · 14/06/2019 08:57

Going for the Mum look today guys! After growing my hair for the past two years I'm chopping off a foot and donating to he little princess trust!

I am thinking it will be hot at some point as it's supposed to be summer! All I will be doing is tying it back for baby duties and I haven't ever dyed it so will be a long bob!!

Also with breast feeding I have heard it might start to thin too! I have loads of extra growth with the vitamins I have been taking through pregnancy so hope less hair = more intensity in growth/ staying on my head 😂🤞🏻

blueeyedviking · 14/06/2019 11:40

@TwinkleDay Oh that is such a nice thing to do! :)

It's comforting to hear that I'm not alone with my skin issues. It's one of the things that really gets me down, and I really hope it goes back to normal once the hormones calm down. Thanks for all your comforting words, it really does help.

@Kentishgal - yes you are right, I should pamper myself! I'm going to make a plan of things to do that I won't be able to do when the little one arrives. E.g this morning I had breakfast in bed while reading a magazine. May get a pregnancy massage next week and even go to the cinema during the day!

I think being on sick leave has given me too much time to think, so yes @StargazyDrifter you are right a lot of this will be nerves. I've just bought an online hypnobirthing course which I'll do and a book to read re the first few months. I know information and planning calms me down so will try those things..

@Yukka Yes it's so strange it's a little one in there. I'm struggling visualising that very soon he'll be out and I'll have a baby. Does that sound weird?

@stargazydrifter Yep, this in between face between leaving work and the little one arriving I feel lost. I'm exactly the same, don't have energy to go out as much, take initiative and can't really 'do' as much as normal. Sitting still and relaxing is hard for me.

cravingmilkshake · 14/06/2019 13:46

Hi ladies- just on episode 3 of season 1 of one born every minute.... not sure that I have made a good decision or not but I am intrigued!

StargazyDrifter · 14/06/2019 23:41

blueeyedviking same here, information and planning really help me and sitting still is hard, especially when enforced by tiredness like now. It's a funny time. I watched a documentary about the author Clive James recently (BBC 4 maybe?) and he talked about living with a deteriorating illness and how he's learnt to embrace the transition as a thing in its own right, rather than always living in A or B. It's not the same exactly, but it did make me think of pregnancy. It's a transition state too, in a better way of course. There aren't really many things like it, which is another reason maybe it's a bit hard.

TwinkleDay that's so good you've done that! It's such an important thing. I've always wanted to try this but I have mousey straw hair which I dye, so it's pretty useless.

DH and I went out for dinner tonight, suddenly dawned on my it may well be our last - pushing 37 weeks now. 😱

Yukka · 15/06/2019 08:51

@cravingmilkshake I did the same a few weeks ago, not sure it helped....all the actual screaming!!

TwinkleDay · 15/06/2019 18:20

Anyone at this stage had damp knickers, I have been relatively active the past 3 days and I don't think it's
Sweat but it doesn't warrant a pad, smells err sweet but does stop and I have been sleeping with no knickers still.

I feel fine. Babies movements are great.

Capybaras · 15/06/2019 20:27

I've constantly had damp knickers/pad throughout pregnancy. Think it's just increased discharge and now as we're getting further along the occasional leakage if I sneeze! Having to use 2 pads a day.
But if it's abnormal for you could be worth checking out with midwife, but I think most people get increased discharge.

TwinkleDay · 15/06/2019 21:11

@Capybaras well it stops, so that's less disconcerting, next midwife appointment is on Wednesday 😬

Giraffe888 · 16/06/2019 16:45

@TwinkleDay I’ve had quite a bit of discharge throughout my pregnancy too and I never usually have it. Delightful isn’t it?! X

Capybaras · 16/06/2019 16:56

Had to have my first midday nap today - first few days of mat leave have taken it out of me!
Also feeling a bit nauseous - hoping this isn't a sign of impending labour as not ready for baby to come yet. How's everyone's weekends been?

BeckyButterfly · 16/06/2019 18:07

@Capybaras I've been feeling similar this weekend. Quite nauseous and really tired! I still have just over 5 weeks till my due date though so I hope it isn't a sign of labour..! 😂 I still have 5 weeks left at work as well so need to perk myself up a bit!

Capybaras · 16/06/2019 18:55

@BeckyButterfly hopefully it's just general pregnancy tiredness catching up with us! I'm 3 weeks away from my due date - I'm impressed you're working up to yours - are you a teacher by any chance working up till summer hols? I feel like all the teachers do that!

BeckyButterfly · 16/06/2019 19:01

@Capybaras I hope so! 🙂 A few people have said that once they started mat leave, they hit a bit of a wall and felt very tired. I think it catches up with you when you stop and attempt to relax. I feel alright during the week then on a weekend tend to feel exhausted!

Yes, I'm a teacher so hoping to finish out the year if I can. I'm due 5 days after the last day of term. If I have to start my mat leave before the holidays then my pay will go down to half before the school goes back in September. Where if I can keep going, my mat leave doesn't start until the day baby is born. Knowing my luck, I'll make it to the last day then I'll give birth the next day or something 😂 I'm just worried that if I start mat leave before the start of the holidays, then she's two weeks late, I could've gotten full pay for those two weeks.

Capybaras · 16/06/2019 22:02

I think you're right @BeckyButterfly as soon as your body relaxes that's it!

Must be so difficult trying to work around the school holidays - mega annoying you can't have the summer holidays as standard annual leave then start mat leave in September! I'm taking 3.5 weeks annual leave and starting Mat leave on my due date - supposed to notify hr if I give birth before then but I'm thinking why would I as I'll lose my annual leave and I assume they won't find out otherwise!
Hopefully things will wind down with you work wise towards the end of term once reports etc are out the way - just let the kids watch films all day!

I had a burst of energy after my nap and used the time to do my first bit of batch cooking so will just have to do similar other days!

BeckyButterfly · 16/06/2019 22:15

@Capybaras it is a very annoying system. It's because we don't actually get paid for the holidays as we are salaried over the number of hours we work in the academic year (despite what a lot of people think 😂) so we aren't actually entitled to any holidays.
I'll just have to see how I get on. That's what I'm hoping! Although I teach special needs so we don't tend to have much down time 😂

I'm pleased you had a burst of energy! I imagine that'll be the way things go from now for you. You'll just have to take it easy when you need to then try to make the most of any energy you do have. Not long to go though!

I have to inform work of when I've had the baby as well and was wondering how they know if you are telling the truth or not..! It's hard to plan these things 😂
