Congratulations @Melamine, hope you're doing well Flowers

How's the feeding going now @Blondcat and @Kescilly? I've been watching YouTube videos on how to get a good latch trying to prepare myself!

Blondcat · 06/06/2019 18:07

@pinkywoo we are getting there now that we are home in a much cooler and more relaxed environment. She is still fussy at times and won't latch even though she knows how and does really well sometimes. We have taken the decision to always offer the boob at each feed but if she is still hungry then to up with either expressed bottle or some ready made formula and this seems to be working better for us. I am hoping once my milk is fully established we really won't need the formula but am not bothered if still need a bit to top up.

PixieN · 08/06/2019 10:42

Just popping over from the 35+ TTC board to say huge congrats @Kescilly @Blondcat @Melamine 💕🎉 Flowers

Weathergirl1 · 09/06/2019 13:32

How is everyone doing? Not much to report from here other than I had a lovely email back from the data scientist at Natural Cycles regarding dating and scan measurements so I'm feeling a lot better about being armed with information for the midwife appointment on Wednesday.

@Blondcat glad to hear you're home and settling in better. And it's refreshing to hear someone being relaxed about mix feeding given all the stuff I'm used to hearing (including on MN!), so thank you for reporting back on that!

Congratulations @melamine too!

Blondcat · 09/06/2019 13:45

@weathergirl1 it was really hard in the early days to have such a relaxed approach as being in the hospital they all but force feed the baby on you which wasn't great when we were both tired from birth. I felt like a failure a number of times and my mental health really suffered it was only when a number of friends and family said they had issues initially that some formula would really not make much of a difference that I realised I was putting too much pressure on us to. A fed baby is a happy baby so went with that and now feel so much more relaxed about mix feeding knowing my daughter is feeding well gaining back her birth weight in a good consistent manner I know we have made the right choice. We still predominantly breast feed but knowing it is not all on me helps to give me a break when I need it. It also means she gets some quality snuggle time with daddy.

Glad you are dying well and how the midwife appointment goes well.

Oxted2018 · 10/06/2019 05:49

Have just been catching up - massive congratulations @kescilly, @blondcat and @melamine. So pleased for you all. Xx

I think I'm 12+3 today (seems to have taken ages to get to this stage) and we have our 12 week scan this morning. Had a little bit of spotting whilst I was away so am a bit nervous both about that and the NT test - been reading all of your comments above on this which are helpful.

I'm another usually small boobed person - mine have definitely grown but not too much so far. I would be quite happy if they stopped now....!!

Weathergirl1 · 10/06/2019 08:34

Good luck for the scan today @Oxted2018
🍀

Oxted2018 · 11/06/2019 19:11

Thank you! It was fine - baby was very wriggly!! The NT measurement seemed good - 1.5- so just waiting for the blood test results. It is a relief to have the 12 week scan done though- it feels a bit more real although for some reason I'm still reluctant to tell people. Have told family but only two close friends - I think I just like the nice secret!!

How is everyone else getting on? X

birdbybird · 12/06/2019 09:15

@Oxted2018 Great to hear!

My own cell-free DNA test came back very low risk last week so that was a relief.

@Weathergirl1 how's the indigestion?

@PixieN congratulations on the wedding!

@pinkywoo how are you feeling?

Weathergirl1 · 12/06/2019 14:51

Hey all! So glad to hear that your free cell DNA came back low risk @birdbybird I was a bit worried you'd gone quiet 👍 how's the sickness??

How are all the newborns getting on?

@Oxted2018 yay for the scan going well. We haven't told anyone yet either other than one close friend who I told so I had someone else to brain dump on! I'm still fairly flat at 16+1 today so I think I may well keep it quiet now until I start to actually show... Strong lower abs seem to be doing their thing at the moment although I do wonder if some of that squishedness is causing all my digestion issues... @birdbybird still got indigestion if I over do the food in one go - Gah 😭

Back from my 16 week appointment this morning - it's still alive - we heard the heartbeat on the Doppler! Also the midwife listened to my dating scan concerns (and all my data points) and the fact it's adding to my anxiety and is emailing the consultant connected with their team to get the EDD corrected. Amusingly it's the same consultant we saw for the Harmony test so effectively we're just asking him to confirm that his scan date is correct versus the 'dating' scan one! I'm feeling a lot less stressed about it now. Phew.

birdbybird · 13/06/2019 11:50

@Weathergirl1 good to hear your 16 week appointment went well. I've not been sick in 48 hours... am practicing breathing slowly when I feel the nausea increase. I didn't understand the issue with your EDD... they told me the date they gave me at the 12-week scan is the EDD they stick with... what happened in your case with the EDD?

I've got a slight paunch... not been going to the gym for the last 7 weeks. Planning to go back starting next week...

Weathergirl1 · 13/06/2019 14:18

Oh they do usually - it's more accurate when the only other option is LMP date (because not all women know that accurately and it assumes a 28 day cycle with ovulation on CD14) however it's not precise at all (they assume that the measurements are the mean measurement which is clearly not the case for everyone as some foetuses will be smaller and some will be larger). My scan date they gave me gives me a conception date well in advance of any sperm being present so it's wrong. If you know ovulation accurately then that's the most precise date to use. My harmony scan agreed to within one day of the ovulation date and was done at 11 weeks (from papers I have read you get a more accurate scan date around then compared with 13 weeks which was when my dating scan happened). Anyway most people probably aren't fussed but given care pathways depend on EDD it was causing me anxiety and I wanted it correcting.

Glad to hear you've not been sick for 48h! And fingers crossed you feel well enough to get back to the gym next week. I've had an exercise blip myself but I'm starting to get back into it a bit more this week.

birdbybird · 13/06/2019 14:53

@Weathergirl1 Ah ok.... so was the EDD they'd given you, earlier than the one from the Harmony scan?
In my case, I think its the other way around... I think the EDD is potentially a couple of days later than what it should be based on my own calculations of when I think I ovulated.

Weathergirl1 · 13/06/2019 15:04

@birdbybird yep! It was 5 days ahead of my dates (and one measurement put me a whole week ahead - I freaked out completely when she said that so she discounted it 🤔) which means conception would have happened several days before we even DTD! It's more feasible to date you slightly later than ovulation as implantation date (which is hard to measure) can affect the size as implantation isn't always a set number of days after ovulation - but clearly it's ridiculous going the other way!

birdbybird · 13/06/2019 16:26

@Weathergirl1 5 days or a week ahead would make me freak out too. Glad to hear you sorted it out.

Pinkywoo · 13/06/2019 17:58

I'm good thanks @birdbybird, looking really pregnant now (I'm 21 weeks)! SPD has kicked in so just waiting for physio and using a massive pregnancy pillow. I'm glad your sickness is getting better, I don't miss that part Envy

Weathergirl1 · 18/06/2019 14:04

Oh no, sorry to hear about the SPD @Pinkywoo - I don't have any experience of this but I just ordered a Belly Bandit from Mothercare to wear when running (definitely felt there was a turnip-sized lump in my tum last night when I went jogging) and the website suggested it could help with SPD relief.

My bowels are still playing up. I thought I'd properly chunked out yesterday (we have an event to go to week after next and I've been trying to work out what dressy clothes I have that I can still get away wearing) when one of my skirts really wouldn't do up... However having now been to the loo THREE times since I woke up at 4am the skirt now fits again 😳. I really shouldn't complain given I haven't had sickness, but... 😬

Sessy19 · 27/06/2019 07:50

Hello! Would it be ok to join you?
I’m 37, finally expecting #1 (and probably only one!) after trying since Oct 17. Was on list for fertility intervention but fell in Feb this year. So due 5 Nov.

Was on the Due Nov 2019 thread and associated FB page, but not really into it now 😬

Been fairly relaxed in 2nd tri, after a pretty anxious wait through first tri. Had 20w scan last week and I think it’s finally sinking in! 😊

Weathergirl1 · 27/06/2019 09:07

@Sessy19 hello! Of course you're welcome here! We're not really chatty like some of the other boards are, but in all honesty I found those impossible to keep up with 😀

You're a few weeks ahead of me (I'm due last week of November).

Kescilly · 01/07/2019 22:41

Hi all, sorry I disappeared off the grid! The first month with baby was quite difficult with feeding issues. She was unsettled all the time and it was a real struggle. We’ve got her on formula now and I finally feel sane again. She still gets upset but it’s just normal baby stuff. She’s lovely and I feel so lucky to be her mom.

How’s everyone else doing? Sorry for everything I’ve missed!

Weathergirl1 · 02/07/2019 11:59

@kescilly ah good to hear from you and glad to hear that you're now feeling sane again (though obviously sorry to hear you've had a bit if a stressful first few weeks)!

I'm 19 weeks today and I think the bump is starting to show finally... We're away this week and I've had a complete dress panic with what I can wear that still fits - I just need to get through this week and then all will be good! Also have had really bad constipation this last week which I think I've finally got on the top of this morning - was 700g lighter this morning than yesterday (sorry for the TMI!) And my trousers are definitely a lot looser today than they were last night - phew -should help my clothes keep fitting for a bit longer too!

I've got my 20 week scan next Tuesday when we're back, so will have more to report back with after that 😀

How is everyone else doing? @Pinkywoo @birdbybird @LauraLooDerby?
