June 2019 - Part 7!

Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

@Torsz at my first measurement, I was measuring 2 weeks behind, and the last 2 measurements I've been spot on or even a bit big, but like you I've been measured by three different people, so I do wonder how much of the fluctuation is down to different measuring methods! I'm not putting too much stock in it - we get a 36 scan as standard in my area, so I'll see what they say there instead!

imtakingabath · 01/05/2019 09:57

36 week scan that should say!

Torsz · 01/05/2019 10:09

@imtakingabath that's reassuring - I don't think I'd be concerned except it's been so linear up until now and it's actually lower than last appointment - but surely it wouldn't shrink?!
Just found out the scan is in an hour so husband is racing home from work!

imtakingabath · 01/05/2019 10:12

@Torsz I would be very surprised if it had shrunk, you'd have to lose some amniotic fluid or something for that to happen, surely?!

Napssavelives · 01/05/2019 10:14

Or baby could just be in a different position or could have engaged so bump could be smaller.

imtakingabath · 01/05/2019 10:16

@Napssavelives yes it just occurred to me that baby changing position could affect it! That would still be no reason for concern obviously, but I guess it's good that they're being cautious and keeping an eye on things for you @Torsz.

Torsz · 01/05/2019 10:25

Yeah I'm hoping it's just position! Fingers crossed it will just be an unintended opportunity to see baby and all will be ok x

Kescilly · 01/05/2019 10:26

Yes, I think the measurements aren't always that consistent, especially when different people do them. But I'm so glad you're being checked out!

I know the doctor told me the baby was engaged, but I actually looked down and saw that my bump is lower today. I was stressing about only having three more weeks but now I'm hoping I make it three more weeks!

Ok we are all good ☺️ 41st percentile and currently 5lb14, and she’s not breech 🤗 thanks all for reassuring me!!

toomanyflatwhites · 01/05/2019 12:00

Hurray @Torsz! Hope it was nice to get to see her again as well as to be reassured that all is well!
I think it's only just struck me today that I have just over 3 weeks left at work which is a bit terrifying...am trying to mentally prepare myself that the baby may also come early so I might not have 6 weeks until their arrival...can't quite square that with the idea of a decorator starting over the weekend and the estate agent starting to show people the flat within the next few weeks, never mind the fact it's DD's birthday on Tuesday (and so far I have bought nothing....) - trying to stay calm about all of this!!

imtakingabath · 01/05/2019 12:02

Glad to hear it @Torsz! :)

Torsz · 01/05/2019 12:17

Thanks ladies!!
@toomanyflatwhites I know right, we've just booked a plasterer in for the 11th then we have to have the carpenter come build a wall afterwards, then the plasterer again...I'm thinking there's a good chance we'll have a baby at some point during that period 😆 these things are sent to test us huh!!!

Kescilly · 01/05/2019 16:02

Oh that’s wonderful @Torsz! Brilliant news!

@toomanyflatwhites I'm in the same boat as you! 3 weeks until maternity leave but have been told baby could come any time. I'll have a month off before my due date so I'm really hoping she hangs in there and gives me some time to prepare! Smile After having the haemorrhages I've been on strict rest and have just started to do little bits around the house, but still can't manage the amount of cleaning and painting which needs doing Sad. Luckily my mum is coming to visit for a few days to do some of it for me!

On another note, is anyone struggling with back pain? My lower back and hips have been giving me serious problems over the past couple of days. And I sympathise with everyone having problems sleeping, I'm waking up around 1am every night and can't get back to sleep until at least 4am. Not helpful while I'm still at work!

Napssavelives · 01/05/2019 16:39

@LolaBlue87 I was really struggling with my back and hips and went to see someone who specialises in pregnancy massage and women’s health and she sorted it right out. I know there are a couple of us from Bristol on here but can’t remember if you are!

WeeBean · 01/05/2019 17:18

Great news @Torsz ☺️

I had my 32 week appointment with the GD team and my consultant. Insulin levels have been upped again for fasting levels but they aren't overly concerned.

My consultant appointment was a million times better than my last one! Baby is 4lbs 4, which consultant said is following the right path on my growth chart and he's all in proportion so tummy isn't too big. My BP was also fine today. I asked about an elective C-section and she said it was major abdominal surgery, which obviously I'm aware of but she has to talk about it. She was so lovely though and have me some leaflets to read, she said was my choice but she'd like me to read them and recommended some further reading and said we could discuss it at the next appointment, she's put it in my notes incase I see someone else but the other 2 doctors she mentioned that I might see weren't the man I saw last time.

I can't even tell you the relief I feel now that someone has said it's my choice, I haven't felt so relaxed since the day I found out I was pregnant!

LauralovesLuke · 01/05/2019 17:41

Has anyone else suddenly become extremely clumsy? I bumped my poor baby twice today - once on a door handle and again on the bed knob. Should I be concerned about bumping my baby? S/he is moving around so I figured they must be ok...

Blondcat · 01/05/2019 18:43

So after a trip up mau last night for reduced movements went for a scan today all looking good estimated 4lb 7oz which is right down the middle where she should be. Only thing is she is breech... They said not to worry right now as time to turn but may end up with another scan in couple of weeks if mw still thinks breech...

allfurcoatnoknickers · 01/05/2019 18:47

@LauralovesLuke Yes! I have no concept of my size, so I keep bumping in to stuff, or trying to squeeze past DH and almost sending him flying.

I also bump into open cupboards and doorknobs all the time. Pretty sure the baby is fine, I think it has to be a hell of a whack before you cause any damage, and at this point, the baby's pretty resilient.

Heyha · 01/05/2019 20:00

Oh that's good @torsz and @blondcat
Mine was 4lb 2 at growth scan this week (33 weeks). Had my first Braxton Hicks experience today, idly walking up the corridor at school, that caught me by surprise!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 01/05/2019 20:22

@blondcat my baby went from breech to cephalic since Friday so the babies are just having a laugh right now really.

Kescilly · 01/05/2019 20:39

I’m 36 weeks today and I think my baby has been head down for ages. Definitely at my last two midwife appointments and growth scan.

Over the 95% line though, by quite a bit! 😬

swiftfox · 01/05/2019 21:04

My baby has been head down for ages too but he is back to back, so I'll try my best to flick him around.... 34 weeks today and I have a strange feeling he'll be early. Even within the next few weeks. This is of course based on nothing at all except a random feeling Hmm

My friend had a tiny but healthy baby boy at 34+2! Seems so weird that someone I've been on a pregnancy journey with already had theirs!

@livingonapear and @toomanyflatwhites glad to see there are others on the geriatric induction boat Grin as my consultant charmingly put it. @toomany I think you are in London too? Wonder if its the same Trust. Although they did say it was totally my choice to be induced, they kind of assumed immediately that I'd do it.

2countries1bump · 02/05/2019 04:54

Another one for the insomnia club! Quite regularly awake around 4:30ish - baby seems to get hiccups and then it's hard to get back to sleep. Anyone else getting this? Any tips?

Daffydillo · 02/05/2019 05:44

@Kescilly hope you’re ok. I’m also in the big baby club (again Confused). My consultant had a very different view and I’ve been told they would be reluctant to induce me as this raises the risk of assisted birth, and are encouraging me for a vaginal birth. Baby is large, head on 91st centile. Apparently this is a good thing as it lowers the risk of the shoulders getting stuck. I am grateful though as he has said I can change my mind at any point and opt for a c-section. This is my second baby though and the fact I delivered my 10lb8oz (99.6th centile) son vaginally gives them reason to believe my body can take it. At the moment I am ok with the plan - I have another scan booked for 34 weeks. For info I am petite, 5”3 with size 4 feet!

I’m not sure if this is your first baby? I am here if you want to chat anyway - it is a worry. At least last time I had no idea DS was going to be ‘macrosomic’. Ignorance is definitely bliss.

Aside big baby club I am thoroughly fed up of being at work with the workload being pumped up as everyone seems to suddenly panic I am going on mat leave in 3 weeks!

Oh and heartburn/reflux... remegel are my best friend. No chalky yuck for me!
