June 2019 - Part 7!

Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

Must be the day for it, I came on here to vent as well 😂
DP has just announced that he's pencilled in a full week of work on what, by dates anyway, should be his second week of paternity leave (so could be first week or even the week baby turns up). I'm fuming at the lack of thought- basically he has spent the last three years pissing about being his own boss which was ok but he then got offered a 'proper' job so we agreed time was right to TTC as we aren't getting any younger and him with a job meant it didn't matter that I-breadwinner-would be out of action as we've got used to managing on one good salary. That 'proper job' now looks like it's going to go tits up so I get why he is booking freelance in again. But he just airily announced it as if it was just any other random working week, and we'd already agreed end of June/beginning of July was likely to be off limits for anything other than the odd half day contract and whatever WFH he wants, I'm not bothered one bit about him not taking two full weeks off working completely as long as he's physically in the house to help if needed.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 24/04/2019 13:30

Oh my god @heyha

I would be super pissed off. What’s your EDD and have you any other help due?

Also, this is your first right?

Heyha · 24/04/2019 13:38

20th June is EDD, my first so I'm not expecting him/her to be punctual 😂
My mum would come over and stay, she's already got a week's leave for around then agreed in principal (nobody else she works with is off around then and her boss is very family-oriented) so I wouldn't be high and dry, it's more the lack of thought from DP in the first place.

If he'd come to me and said, look I've had this really good offer of a week's work but it's really bad timing, what do you think, I probably would have been ok with it (or a version of it, it's freelance) if mum could definitely come and help.

Kescilly · 24/04/2019 13:41

@Heyha that’s so frustrating! I know what you mean, it’s different if you’re consulted and it’s a joint decision.

I wish men could carry the babies sometimes just because then they might actually remember that there is a baby on the way.

I'm currently sulking in the same room as our next to me so I might rage-assemble ours as well 😂 @kescilly

Kescilly · 24/04/2019 13:56

@Heyha do it! The instructions were a little annoying but I got there in the end. Very satisfying to have it done. I can advise you if you get stuck. 😂

On the subject of bedside cribs, does anyone have the Snuzpod 3? We've been given it as a gift, which is really lovely, but all the reviews I have read say that it is impossible to find fitted sheets for the mattress. Even the Snuzpod branded ones are too small, apparently! If anyone has found some that work, let me know!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 24/04/2019 15:30

Heavens above @heyha

all I’ll say is this: typically the pattern of delivery continues down the maternal line. So if your mum gave birth in advance of 40w you are less likely to go overdue and vice versa.

May be worth thinking about before giving DH the full “testicular rearrange”.

A partial one though? Yep.

Napssavelives · 24/04/2019 15:32

I bought some from Mothercare specific bedside crib ones. The Woman in the shop said they’d fit.

My snuz pod arrived today and I’m going to put it together tomorrow can let you know!

LolaBlue87 · 24/04/2019 15:34

@Napsavelives Amazing, thank you!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 24/04/2019 15:49

That thing about the maternal line is interesting!

My two DC's were a day early, my sister's first was 10 days early, I was early also as was she, and my mum was two weeks early.

I assuming this means I'll definitely go over this time just to piss me off 😂

Heyha · 24/04/2019 16:11

Oh he's had the rearrange just for being thoughtless...he still can't see what my issue is!

I'll ask my mum about 'punctuality', I know I was two or three days late. Be really interesting to see if it follows for us in this thread!

Kescilly · 24/04/2019 16:18

Oooh now I’m curious too! I’d love to hear updates after people have their babies.

Really silly question, but what do I want for putting baby’s laundry in? Some sort of washable bag? A wipeable plastic basket?

OP posts:
toomanyflatwhites · 24/04/2019 16:25

@Kescilly I'd say it depends a bit - general mucky stuff just went in our normal laundry bin. Anything yucky (who am I kidding...that probably covers half of it!!) would either have a rinse/soak in the sink before washing, and/or straight in the washing machine machine depending. Of course if you are planning on doing reusable nappies or wipes you would want something separate though!

Morgan999 · 24/04/2019 18:57

@LolaBlue87 @Napssavelives

I have a snuzpod 3, haven't put it together yet but bought the crib sheets from Mothercare. Tried them on the mattress and they fit fine 🙂

Napssavelives · 24/04/2019 19:03

@Morgan999 that’s really helpful thank you. Hope it’s not too difficult to put together!

stellarfox · 24/04/2019 21:12

@LolaBlue87 I accidentally bought the wrong mattress protector for my snuzpod so I messaged them about it and to check that I had bought the correct sheets and they said they had one batch of the fitted sheets that were slightly too small for the snuzpod 3 so that seems to be where the bad reviews came from that you see around. If you somehow get one from that batch they said they will replace them!

Heyha · 24/04/2019 21:31

Well I didn't make up the crib as I had a nap instead 😂 then went out to check my sheep as normal and there were two that urgently needed some tlc (won't go into detail but it's insect-related) so ended up staying out til dark doing that.
Baby has got hiccups again I think that's two or three times every day this week, so will have some dinner then settle into the entertainment of 'fidget hour' before bed 💤 still no apology or any signs of understanding from DP either!

Napssavelives · 25/04/2019 05:00

I haven’t slept well for the last 2 nights, worse than usual pregnancy sleep getting up to wee all the time. My lower back hurts so much, just can’t get comfy. Roll on Friday lunchtime when I’ve got a massage booked

LolaBlue87 · 25/04/2019 06:54

@stellarfox @Morgan999 Thanks!

WeeBean · 25/04/2019 08:20

We've bought a bedside crib that no one else seems to have heard of - the Inovi Cocoon (all because it has framed netting that comes up over the crib to keep our nosey cats out) but finding sheets has been a bit of hassle, hope they fit ok!

I ended up in EOU last night. Had a pounding headache most of the day that paracetamol wouldn't shift and then my hands got all swollen. Rang the hospital and they said to come up, my BP was high and I had protein in my pee. Thankfully my BP started to come down but they were concerned about the protein so had to wait to see a Dr and then for lab results to come back. Everything came back ok but they want me to have weekly BP tests now.

Have to say I was so impressed with the care I got. There's only 4 beds in our EOU, there was only me and one other person when I got there but it filled up really quickly, including a couple of women in labour! The staff were fantastic and made sure everyone got the care they needed, I don't know how they do it!

Heyha · 25/04/2019 08:25

Crikey @weebean that sounds very stressful but glad all ok Smile on a lighter note it sounds like you got the crib I should have, I caught one of my cats having a snooze in the carrycot a few weeks ago...it's the only time either of them have though so I guess it wasn't a very good endorsement for how comfy it is 😂

WeeBean · 25/04/2019 08:35

@Heyha not how I wanted to spend my Wednesday evening but always better to checked, they wouldn't let me leave until they'd definitely ruled out pre-eclampsia.

😂😂 They are a very good judge of what's comfortable! One of ours sleeps right up beside me in our bed so wouldn't put it past him to try the crib. Don't want to shut them out of our room either incase they associate it with the baby and then resent him.

fee1234 · 25/04/2019 09:15

Catching up - tempted to assemble my next to me now!

Was at an all day wedding yesterday and managed until about 11pm, had to take lots of sitting down breaks and definitely couldn't dance. My back is really sore today after being on my feet all day yesterday though! Someone was really drunk and fell into me which gave bump a bit of a knock, but it was an accident and all is okay - caused DP to go all primal and make sure nobody was near me after that though!

Also learned bump does not like bagpipes, never felt him squirm so hard! Poor thing

Kescilly · 25/04/2019 09:44

@WeeBean what an eventful night! I'm glad that everything is okay and that they will be monitoring you regularly now. I got stressed when I had one barely above average BP reading and I went and bought a monitor from Argos. I'd still go into the hospital if I was worried, but I've been tracking mine just to keep an eye on it. I don't know if something like that would be useful for you?

I feel like everything baby related is perfect for cats! Ours loves the carrycot and has had multiple snoozes in it before being booted out. I lined the Next to Me with foil and he's already been eyeing that. I've been keeping him shut out of the bedroom which I feel bad about, but I felt like we needed to establish that now rather than when baby is here.

He's been my baby for about a decade now though, and he's a very clingy and affectionate cat. I'm worried about how things are going to change and feel bad that I can't really warn him about it.
