Ooh yes - it's The Big Meet Up. Can't wait to hear how it's gone. You could all use your phones to keep posting real-time so we don't feel left out ;-) Think it's the best day weather-wise too.

Ioler - don't worry too much about your baby still being breech as you've a good few more weeks. I'm trying everything, including ECV next week - so will let you know what works best. Reflexology def makes the baby move more - prob because everything, including stomach muscles are more relaxed - and it is really nice!

You don't have to go for a c-section at all - depending on the kind of breech you are, you can still have a good natural labour, but your hospital would need to be aware of your baby's position. Anyway, I'm likely to go first so can let you know all about it .

Hope all you bluewater folk have a lovely day!

I'm SOOO HUNGRY today, does anyone else go through stints of being absolutely starving straight after food? I've had two pieces of toast and jam and a coffee at 7am, and a sandwich and an apple about 20 mins ago, and I just can't shift the hunger pangs at all, it's actually painful.

The past few days I've hoovered up everything in the kitchen and munched my way through whole boxes of cereal. It will settle down again in a few days but these hungry patches are really quite embarassing!

My dp must think he's living with a pig- he made a few comments on what I was choosing at the supermarket the other day, I was pretty embarassed when I realised what I was stuffing in the trolley, I may be overweight but it's not like me to be so greedy!

Hope it doesn't mean the little one is getting to be a BIG one!

bananabump · 18/07/2007 10:30

I know my arse is getting to be a BIG one.

Annie75 · 18/07/2007 10:33

God, yes, Banana! It's like I need an intravenous drip of food to stop me feeling ravenous! Did a food shop at the weekend and honestly can't see much left to eat - and it's only Weds...

bananabump · 18/07/2007 10:43

Thank god its not only me then, it's been depressing me!

I know they say when cats are pregnant or feeding their kittens they need extra food, I suppose it's the same for us, but it doesn't stop you feeling like a heiffer and counting the stretchmarks does it?

Annie75 · 18/07/2007 10:57

Tis completely natural - we need about an extra 300 cals a day at the mo and am sure we'll prob crave more! Our bodies are laying down extra fat stores for breastfeeding, which uses an extra 500-750 cals a day - that's loads of extra food

myweegirl · 18/07/2007 11:11

conkertree - enjoy your last couple of hours at work. hope they are fairly relaxing

i've been eating like a horse - don't think it helps that tesco's ahve just delivered a load of food.

i spent yesterday buying all the last minute bits and pieces for baby (and a few treats for DD so her nose isn't put out of joint). so today my plan was to sort everything out, but so far i've just sat on the couch watching pregnancy/maternity programmes on SKY.

hope the meetup is going well...

JSer · 18/07/2007 11:45

I'm always hungry too! Banana I dont think it sounds like you're actually eating very much! toast for breakfast wouldn't last me 5 mins! I have a massive bowl of cereal (DH always laughs at the size of it!) then toast at about 10.30 to top up!

Annie - how do you get reflexology? do you have to get it privately or can you get your m/w to refer you? oh..and what is it?

At our antenatal class last night (which was pretty crap) we had to fill in a clock of how we spent our day (24hours) and then how it would change after LO arrives. I had feed baby (1h), eat (1h), sleep (1h) etc for 24h!!

Annie75 · 18/07/2007 12:02

Hiya JSer - not sure if you can get referred to a reflexologist via your midwife. Guess it might be worth asking.

It's an alternative (but well-established) therapy based on using pressure points on your feet to stimulate healing etc throughout the body. Think the idea behind it is that different parts of the feet correspond to different parts of the body. It sounds wacky, but I've had it on and off for years and find it tremendously relaxing. Sessions normally last between 45 mins - 1 hour, and you either lie on a bed or sit on a special reclining chair, fully clothed, while your practitioner uses a base oil to gently massage the points on your feet. Costs between £25-£35. Not cheap, but a nice luxury if you can, and like I said, the baby seems to move loads!

You can google for someone in your area - or if you live near a Neal's Yard, they have therapy rooms and reflexologists therapy.nealsyardremedies.com/. God, I sound like such a hippy, but promise you I'm a v rational person!

bananabump · 18/07/2007 12:15

I suppose I'm not eating massive amounts everytime, it's just that I'm forever in and out of the kitchen lol

My tummytub just arrived, I paid £5.00 p+p for it on ebay and it came wrapped in a binbag with a sticker on that said "postage cost: £2.30." I know it's not a lot of money but I was still like "why I oughtta..."

Hope baby likes it, if he doesn't I'll use it to soak my feet!

The only things I don't have for the baby now are nail clippers and hairbrush, but can't be bothered going shopping specially for them since he'll probably come out bald anyway.

boobooma · 18/07/2007 13:19

Have just finished second lunch and am now eyeing up ds's yoghurt.

Babylovesmuffins · 18/07/2007 13:39

Hope the RL meet-up went well this morning. I've also got a permanent case of the munchies at the moment! Had a huge bowl of macaroni cheese with ham and peas last night, followed by a Mint Magnum and about half an hour later I told DH I could eat it all over again!!!

I could have a bit of a moan today - work is so busy and I've only got until Friday left to finish everything up. Coupled with the fact that I've started having to get up twice a night for toilet trips, which is probably because I've been drinking loads more to try and get rid of this bladder infection. Needless to say I'm exhausted and have been really snappy with all my colleagues today...

Annie75 · 18/07/2007 14:38

I finish work too end of this week, Muffins - hooray! Feeling distinctly 'blobby' and unable to concentrate for long so it's annoying to have lots of stuff to finish off. My cover is lovely though, so I don't want to leave her in the sht. Gives me a bit of motivation, I guess...

Ooh, I can't wait - just imagining all that sleeping

myweegirl · 18/07/2007 14:41

it's very quiet on here today!

BLM - you are soooo lucky only getting up twice per night! i'm up on average about 5 times each night (i can almost time myself).

Annie75 · 18/07/2007 14:41

Btw - has anyone had the Strep B test or been offered it by their midwife? Mine said they didn't offer it and I think I've left it too late to order one of those online test thingys...

Annie75 · 18/07/2007 14:45

Hi myweegirl - they've all gone to meet up in the Bluewater shopping centre. Hence the slow-moving thread, for once!

Hopefully, we'll get the lowdown later...

bananabump · 18/07/2007 14:52

No idea about the strep B test, no-one's mentioned it to me.

Well, last night was interesting, had braxtons for a couple of hours on and off, tried to time them but they weren't regular, and seemed to taper off. Wouldn't have taken them so seriously but I had a few cramps too, a feeling of a lot of pressure down below, and a slightly achy lower back, so I was a bit "oooh!" for a while.

Dp interpreted every "ouch!" as a contraction and started to get a bit worried, I had to reassure him it was just the baby constantly rearranging himself with his elbows I don't think he's got much room in there any more because he's fidgeting loads.

My sister thinks it might not be long now, but then again she had a few weeks of braxtons before her babies arrived, one 4 weeks early, one overdue, so who knows!

Anyone else had any signs? braxton hicks? shows? crazed nesting?

myweegirl · 18/07/2007 14:53

they must be having lots of stops for coffee's and cake

bananabump · 18/07/2007 14:55

and wees!

loler · 18/07/2007 14:57

I've only been getting up once (about 5ish) I'm putting it down to upside down baby - one benefit at least!

Am also constantly grazing - not sure if it's just an excuse to eat or if I really am hungry! Promised myself that wouldn't get huge this time but doesn't seem to be working!

BB - don't worry too much about clippers - After nearly taking dds finger off I found it easier just to bite their nails when giving them a cuddle - they are really soft to start with. Think I must have traumatised (sp) dd for life as she still screams aged 4 when I get the clippers out!

myweegirl · 18/07/2007 14:59

i think some hospitals (private rather than NHS) routinely screen for strep B. i think it's only a small %age that actually carry it and pass it on to baby.

banana - sounds like things might be starting to get ready for you...I gave DP a fright when i told him that i thought bump had dropped a bit. I've been getting lots and lots of movement doen below as if baby is trying to wiggle it's head out, with what i assume is shoulders hitting off my hips. very uncomfortable!

i wish i could get some crazed nesting - my activity today so far has been to hang out some washing and clean the kitchen windowsill

so i suppose i should go and do some more housework..but i'll just go via the kitchen cupboards first

myweegirl · 18/07/2007 15:04

loler - i was told not to bite finger nails as you could easily rip them. however, i ignored that advice and tried to do it but could never manage because they were so bendy. so ended up using clippers very early on (though DD had scratch mitts on for a few weeks before i plucked up the courage).

SweetyDarling · 18/07/2007 15:11

Annie, I had a StrepB test. Asked OB and he did it for me, but is private, so I don't know about NHS.
I'm not having to get up in the night either - must be the breach thing. Have been getting eye-watering kicks to my cervix today - thought he'd actually stuck his foot through at one stage but seems to still all be in place.
Bought breast pump today and some arnica. I think I'm nearly done, but need some dark brown towels for hospital bag! Also need maternity pads - went to big Boots on Oxford St and they didn;t seem to have them!?? Where do they come from?

mum2george · 18/07/2007 15:17

Pengy, we are going for a cheap mattress this time as last time we had a flash one and it just ended up being ruined, mainly with me sleeping on it

Myweegirl, my LO is engaged too but I did have DS at 38+1 which is exactly the stage of pg I will be at tomorrow. eeek!

Sweetydarling, don't suppose you HAVE to wash baby clothes but I always think of the chemicals they use in making them, plus you don't know whose had their grubby mitts on them. Or is that just me being paranoid?

Haven't been on since yesterday morning, and am just catching up so will no doubt be posting again in a mo. Hope you are ok.

lovelybird · 18/07/2007 15:22

Hi all,
I haven't posted for a few weeks, and have spent ages catching up on this thread. I finished work a few weeks ago and have been so busy with DS and then the days he's at nursery I've been non-stop with decorating, cleaning, sorting stuff out and washing and ironing. I'm now 36+2 and have a huge bump and am very uncomfortable, but feeling OK, just getting anxious about the birth. Hope everyone's OK and look forward to the bumps arriving soon.
