A girl my rl friend chats to on MSN but my rl friend doesn't have MSN at work so she introduced her to me. She's been having pains since 4 this morning!!!!

bananabump · 17/07/2007 15:23

ooh that's exciting, how is she coping? is she full term?

Mrsshuvel · 17/07/2007 15:28

She was due some time last week and went for a sweep yesterday but they said they couldn't do it cos her BP was too high. She was booked for another one tomorrow but looks like she won't need it now.

bananabump · 17/07/2007 15:44

aaw, that's good news for her then. I bet you'll glued to your IM now!

It'll be us soon!

Mrsshuvel · 17/07/2007 16:01

not too soon i hope. I want at least a week at home.

Am in absolute agony. I think he may have moved down slightly this afternoon. My shorts are cutting into me really badly. They are the under bump ones so can't even undo them, have pulled them down as far as is humanly decent but really want to take them off and sit in my maternity thong! My boss isn't getting the hint either. I FEEL LIKE SHOUTING LET ME GO HOME, I'M IN AGONY AND NOT BENEFITTING THE COMPANY ONE LITTLE BIT BY BEING HERE!.

itchyncsratchy · 17/07/2007 16:18

Happy birthday MrsShuvel- does your boss know's it's your birthday? I hope you can go home soon and that your man has something special planned to celebrate

I walked a long long way trying to find local gp surgery today and I'm just exhausted. My online ordering is not going well, still waiting for JL delivery..

I still can't make up my mind about pushchairs/ carseats/ carrycot/ travelcot or moses basket and bouncer chair (which I remember was totally essential item) then a playmat but nothing too lurid

My ds, teenager, is totally bored of our sedentary days now! I do feel sorry for being such an 'invalid'. It's so wierd to be unable to move about, really looking forward to swap this bump for the baby. And missing dp terribly now, I've been away for 1 week and 2 more before he comes. Boo hoo!

Annie75 · 17/07/2007 16:58

Loving the post-birth names. Think I might be FannyAnnie depending on whether I want reminding...

Happy bday Mrs S Time for you to go home, methinks! Hope your DH pulls something good out of the bag for this evening. If not, take yourself out for A Nice Meal.

Mmm, slushy ice drinks and lollies, JSer. I have been known to eat a fruit lolly at 2am.

Had that moxi treatment today. Def felt the baby doing some seismic shifts, so it can't be total nonsense. Stinks a bit though. DH reckoned it works as it makes the baby stoned ... Got the sticks to keep it up myself at home now.

SweetyDarling · 17/07/2007 17:16

Just had a look at the 06 August thread and they had started popping already by this time last year!
Anyone feeling ready??

JSer · 17/07/2007 17:18

Wow Annie - I'll be really interested to know if the moxibustion thingy works. I'm a geeky scientist so a bit cynical but did see a peer-reviewed paper about it on the web!! And I think i'll try anything after 36 wks. Althought the m/w who does my aquanatal class was shocked when i asked her about somersualts and handstands in the pool - she said she wouldn't recommend those!

Hoping it works for you anyway. Seeing m/w on thurs so will find out then if i need to get a scan if they think it's still breech. Dont' think my local hospital does vaginal breech births and to be honest wouldn't want to try it if the midwives weren't experienced but the thought of having to "choose" a cesaerean does funny things to my throat when i think about it.

For all those still breech "turn baby turn - disco inferno"

Annie75 · 17/07/2007 17:28

Ha! That's exactly what I've been singing to mine, JSer .

I know, I'm too chicken to opt for a Proper Operation out of choice and am still longing for a nice hippy birth. My midwife surprised me though - they are increasingly supporting natural breech deliveries in hospitals, as well they should be! Am trying everything, but at the end of the day am resigning myself to the idea that maybe the baby likes being that way up and that's the way I'll have to give birth to him/her!

Mrsshuvel · 17/07/2007 17:33

Ok sorry for the moaning - told them i was going and am home now. Gonna have 40 winks then hopefully feel better.

tokentotty · 17/07/2007 17:34

Don't be sorry for anything on your birthday MrsS !!!! Happy snoozing...

boobooma · 17/07/2007 18:03

Hope you have a great meet up tomorrow and lots of cake gets scoffed.

Bagpuss, Oliver Postgate who made bagpuss is on desert island discs on friday at 9am on radio 4.

Good luck with the breech babes turning. Mines back to back at the moment, mmmm, don't fancy that much so lots of leaning forwards, boobs hurt too much when leaning on birth ball though.

Also had a great yoga session on Saturday where the teacher said taht all this emphasis on lying on the left has got out of hand and its important to get some balance and sleep. Hurrah for realistic advice.

conkertree · 17/07/2007 19:21

adding a little moan i'm afraid, as still in the office. finish at 1pm tomorrow and want to be able to walk at the door at exactly that time, so having to put in some extra hours just now.

If they had blooming well sorted out a locum or somebody to cover for me, i wouldnt have to be doing this but no - becasue they decide to save themselves some money i am stuck here till god knows when. and nobody volunteers to take anything off me cause they are all really busy themselves, so i ahve to feel guilty and practically beg people to take my files.

ok moan over - will eat my lasagne and see if that helps and then get back to it.

myweegirl · 17/07/2007 19:41

conkertree - can't believe you are still at work (i'm just heading for bed) hope you are leaving soon? i hope all the extra work is appreciated?

bananabump · 17/07/2007 20:02

Bit TMI but tried sex earlier and now having crampy aches down below, is that normal? I don't know what contractions are supposed to feel like, the braxton hicks I've had before weren't quite as pronounced, it definitely just went all tight. Probably reading far too much into it, wishful thinking now the bag is done LOL

conkertree · 17/07/2007 20:12

i have had some crampy aches as well bananabump - off and on but i always reckon that if it was the real thing it would become obvious in time, so have just not thought about it, and so far its always gone away again in a bit. but you never know - one of these times...

and no myweegirl - it wont be appreciated in the slightest which is probably the bit that annoys me. the bosses who keep the profits left not long after 5, and they've known for about 6 months when i am finishing but havent bothered to check how things are going towards finishing, i've been in about 8 or 8.15 most days for the last three or four weeks, and been finishing late at least 3 out of 5 days, i havent had a secretary for about 3 months -its all just a bit ridiculous and making me very glad to be going. ok they took me out for lunch on monday - but really big deal - the amount of free overtime i have done recently it wasnt really a free lunch.

sorry to moan but just gettting crosser as the files dont seem to be going down much and i refuse to stay later than 1 tomorrow.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 17/07/2007 20:19

hi - having a bit of a moan - got my moses basket out and it has gone mouldy!!!
i know that some people dont use them but cant fit a cot in my room so really do need one, peace of mind for the first few weeks - where can i get one that wont cost the earth!! _ have to stand!

bananabump · 17/07/2007 20:31

I think they start at about £25 in argos, pink. or there's always ebay! In fact if you're not fussed about second hand stuff (you might want to replace the mattress of course) I would ask on MN, see if anyone from the april 2007 thread has one they want to get rid of!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 17/07/2007 21:30

Good Idea !! will try that!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 18/07/2007 08:18

Thanks for that TT - im not a tight person but very realistic and dont want to pay to much for something that will only be used for a Max of 8 weeks ( ds grew out of his by 6)

Sooo looking forward to meeting you all! Just getting ready, dragged ds out of bed and he is dressed, watching tele eating his toast!

loler · 18/07/2007 10:02

Hope you all have a good day today - will be really strange to see real people!!

Have been lurking as can't ever think of anything interesting to add!

My biggest news is that I spent a week looking for our baby carrier in the 50 remaining boxes and found it yesterday - have absolutely nothing else ready but feel like the baby can come now. No bed or clothes or nappies or feeding stuff but at least it will be carried in style!

LO is definately still breech - get weird ball moving over the top part of my bump (must be a head!). Not sure what I'll do if it stays breech - can also never imagine choosing a CS but if something went wrong during the birth would never forgive myself. Keep meaning to do hands and knees leaning in the evenings but it always seems to be really late before I have a chance to site down - (we installed a fireplace until 10pm last night). I'm tempted to try reflexology - sounds like a nice experience even if nothing happens!
