@IVEgottheDECAF solidarity on the lack of sleep. I think your DC4 is a similar age to my DD who last week woke up every 1.5 hours 😳 she was at my mums last night, and naturally slept through, so I'm hoping the same for me tonight (ha!)

Megan2018 · 09/03/2019 18:30

Phew, so today we told all my family, they were all lovely and super excited (although very shocked)! In-laws tomorrow but am feeling better now. Huge weight lifted.
No rush to tell wider friends yet but not keeping it a secret from family is immense relief!!

iloveewanthedreamsheep · 09/03/2019 18:41

Great news that your scan went well @Stroan.
Also great to have so many due date buddies! Had pretty hairy birth with my first so think an early birthday for this one is on the cards (possibly ELCS but consultant appointment not til April).
This thread moves really fast!

MyBreadIsEggy · 09/03/2019 19:30

happy must be something in the air lately Confused My DC2 has never been a great sleeper, but we’ve had a couple of days where he’s been up every hour or so!

DustyDoorframes · 09/03/2019 20:26

Phew stroan I'm so glad!
And ugh to feeling crummy easter
Commiserations to all the people with non sleepers!!! My littlest is on quite a good run at the moment (bet I've jinxed it now!)- Although I've been away overnight for work a few times lately, and she's slept much better when I've been away...

IVEgottheDECAF · 09/03/2019 21:21

Dc4 (will be 3 in Oct) only really started sleeping through full stop in the past six months. He has been my worst sleeper so far, and the only one to play with poo.

MyBreadIsEggy · 09/03/2019 21:53

IVEgot mine is like that too.
He’s woken every 3-4 hours max for as long as I can remember. He’s 2 and a half now. He’s slept through the night a grand total of twice, and that was only after accidental exposure to a couple of his allergens, so he was dosed to the gills with prescription antihistamines which knocked him clean out for 12 hours Confused

hodgeheg92 · 10/03/2019 06:18

stroan I am so relieved for you.

@knobjockey I can definitely feel movements sometimes, but for me they are like the popcorn feeling. I'd doubt myself but with it being DC2 I'm fairly certain I know what my insides normally feel like and what's new. I remember last time telling my midwife I thought I could feel flutters and being embarrassed cos I thought she'd laugh with it being so early but she was really nice and encouraging so if you think it's baby then maybe it is Smile

happydays00 · 10/03/2019 07:12

@hodgeheg92 I'm definitely feeling movements too. It seems very early, but like you say, you know what your insides normally feel like!

My DD has just fallen backwards on the bed and landed with her head on my bump. It was so hard it took my breath away. I do worry about how many knocks and bangs this bump gets Confused

Florencenotflo · 10/03/2019 07:30

My dd is 3 and has taken to getting up between 4:15 and 5:20 every day. DH is picking up all the slack with housework etc but the early mornings are killing me. We take it in turns for lay ins but he's a firefighter and without fail if he's on call he gets called out. So this morning was my turn for a lie in, but he'd been out since 01:30 - 04:00. I couldn't bring myself to wake him up when Dd woke (thankfully) at 5:45.

Seriously thinking of taking all my annual leave before my due date and having the whole summer off. Just so I can sleep 😂

I've got a consultant appointment next week. I think this one is because of my higher BMI. I had them with dd, they just seemed to do more BP checks. Then I have the VBAC clinic next Friday. I think I've settled on a c section and made my peace with that, I just hope they don't try and convince me otherwise now!

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/03/2019 07:35

I need to book my 16 week mw app, 14+3 now

I also need to decide if i am going to attempt work this week or try and get a sick note. Spd was worse than it has been so far yesterday and i have been resting!

DustyDoorframes · 10/03/2019 07:57

florence do it!!! Sleeping leave sounds very wise to me!
decaf can you see a different doc this time???? Dr Sympathy hasn't covered herself in glory... SPD is so unfair!
happy yeah, those poor bumps don't get quite such gentle treatment with littles around...

BBell2 · 10/03/2019 08:25

@struan I'm so please for you! Was wondering last night.

@florencenotflo my OH is a firefighter too, just going onto "on call" rather than on station on a night. I'm actually dreading that every time his phones go it will be me, DD (2.5) and the dog all up all night each time. None of us sleep well as it is.

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/03/2019 08:29

My surgery only has one gp unfortunately. She has said she will sign me off. But is very much of the "its spd there is nothing i can do you need physio" and physio is out of her hands

Lavellan · 10/03/2019 08:43

We had our NIPT this week. I started to feel like we didn't need it. We carried on and I'm putting the money out of my mind now, pointless to dwell. I think I just got some realisation that it really tests for very few things. We ticked the gender box though, argh! Grin

Easterbuns1 · 10/03/2019 08:59

@IVEgottheDECAF which support belt do you have? I ordered one that just has one set of straps at front rather than top and bottom and it's not much use at all. I thought I'd get away with smaller one since bump is small but no. Don't have my old one as it was such a long time ago.

I've definitely just started feeling flutters this past week, dp is desperate to be able to feel them but have explained it will be a while before you can feel them from the outside.

Picking up older two from their weekend with their dad today. They will have told him about the new baby. Wondering if there will be an awkward congratulations, sarcastic comment or if it will be completely ignored.

iano · 10/03/2019 09:02

Just popping in to say hello and make sure I don't lose you guys. Will have to catch up later.

Florencenotflo · 10/03/2019 09:17

@BBell2 will he have a pager or will they ring him? You'd be surprised, Dd sleeps through DH's going off, he bangs around getting his clothes on, slamming the front door... then he sometimes showers when he gets back. She's never woken up.

jazzyjellybeans · 10/03/2019 09:36

@Stroan glad everything was ok at your scan yesterday

BBell2 · 10/03/2019 09:49

@florencenotflo I hope for the same! I'm not sure how it's going to work, phone I think, he has the next three weeks in glocesterchire which is a fair way away from here (so at least we get some sleep then! But it will be hard going without) and then starts.

heather88 · 10/03/2019 10:27

Just going back to placentas for a minute... my mums a retired community midwife and did a lot of home births for the traveller community in her area. Apparently it was quite common for her to deliver the placenta, then the family would slap it straight in a frying pan with a bit of seasoning for a yummy post-labour snack! I know it’s super nutritious but I just couldn’t Confused

Whisky2014 · 10/03/2019 10:37

Envy yuk!

MyBreadIsEggy · 10/03/2019 13:27

heather very common in lots of cultures!
I’ve got a friend that rather than encapsulating and consume hers in pill form, she cut it up into tiny chunks, froze them, and then put one little cube in a fruit smoothie every day.
Not something would do, but sounds better than frying it in a pan Confused

challengeyourreality · 10/03/2019 14:52

Good afternoon all,
Struggling to keep up with all of the different themes going along.
I definitely got a good look at the placenta, don't remember with which babe but it was amazing, you could see where the baby lay quite clearly. I was really curious but I never considered eating it. I am interested but would need to do some research first.
I haven't felt any definite movement yet but it will be nice when I do as I like to feel they're doing well inside.
Can anyone recommend a good pregnancy app for me? I had one for conception but it stopped updating with insights every day and I'd like something that can tell me some facts every morning about the pregnancy.

boodles101 · 10/03/2019 15:35

Had my nhs scan today put forward 6 days to 13+2 and had the massive shock that there's 2 babies in there!!
