We use a pram so much because we dont drive, so i am happy to spend £500-600 but would never spend over that.
I had looked at mothercare journey which is £300 inc carseat and does look good. However reviews say the wheels wear quickly and that mothercare customer service isnt great

boodles101 · 22/03/2019 09:31

I'm just so confused about double prams. I've heard mixed reviews on the bugaboo donkey, like the idea of the side by side easy to push like the out n about nipper double, but I don't like the idea is 2 tiny babies being in that non parent facing. I would prefer to have newborns in a carrycots style. Plus I have my DS, he walked from a early age and always prefers to walk rather than be in his buggy, but he is a runner and won't hold my hand. I might have to consider 1 baby in a sling, other baby and DS share a double buggy til he ca be trusted!

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/03/2019 09:51

Doubles are a mind field

When we had one many years ago we had a one infront of the other style. It was awful. I couldnt get it up on to the pavement [blush
Have you looked at the uppababy vista?

boodles101 · 22/03/2019 09:53

That's what I'm worried about it being so heavy. I walk the dog daily so it needs to be something I can get around easily. I think I'm going to visit lots of shops and test out as many as possible to narrow down what I want, then find second hand.

Lavellan · 22/03/2019 10:06

We're in a maisonette flat so the most important thing for me is that we get a pram that folds really easily. Otherwise it will block the door.

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/03/2019 10:20

Definitely boodles and make sure you take your ds to try in the prams to give you an idea weight wise. How old will he be when twins are born?

MyBreadIsEggy · 22/03/2019 10:29

My double was an iCandy Peach Blossom, which is one above the other. It’s pretty light, and comes with all the relevant adaptors etc for seat units and carry cots. Easy to push around too.
Just a shame that it didn’t get much use!

boodles101 · 22/03/2019 10:33

I do like the look of the icandy peach blossom eggy as it has the carrycots. Was just worries about being heavy or not so good that you've said it was pretty light.
DS will be about 2y8 months.

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/03/2019 10:36

He might be ok on a buggy board with a seat? Although then you are just making the pram even heavier!

Dc4 will be 2.10/2.11 my plan is new pram for baby and buggy board. Plus keep his stroller and buy sling. So i can use the latter if he is being a pita

MyBreadIsEggy · 22/03/2019 10:52

boodles I set it up in every configuration possible with my adaptors and carrycots/seat units and it was light in every configuration.
I had a baby and a toddler so (if Boy King would have tolerated it) I’d have only needed a seat unit and one carrycot, but I set it up with 2 carrycots anyway just out of curiosity, and the carrycots themselves are really light compared to my silver cross!! The only thing with the carrycots, is that the upper one is normal, round-ended carrycot size, but the lower comes to a point at the feet end, so has slightly less space. You’ll need to put the bigger of your two babies in the upper carrycot for sure

boodles101 · 22/03/2019 11:03

Thanks that's really helpful. I'm definitely leaning more towards the icandy.

KnobJockey · 22/03/2019 11:14

Prams are such a minefield! We had a quick look after our scan, and we both kind of liked the Baby Jogger city select lux (DP more than me) but then looking at reviews, I haven't seen any that focus on just one baby in there- lots of very good reviews for two children though.

We want a 4 wheeler, small enough but not tiny, light but sturdy enough that it doesn't feel like it's going to tip up on corners, and good enough to go on dog walks (not big long treks). And attractive, but fairly cheap. So we're not too picky Grin We're keeping our eye out on ebay/ facebook, as I figure that they end up in a buggy by about 1 anyway!

KnobJockey · 22/03/2019 11:41

Is anyone else finding that they are still starving? It died down a bit about 10 weeks, but it seems to be back again, and if I don't eat every couple of hours it makes me retch again.
Today so far I have eaten two slices of toast with cheese, a small slice of quiche, half a sausage roll, and a small ham roll, and now I am on countdown for my lunch. Staying away from carbs is not an option!

Astret · 22/03/2019 11:42

We were looking at the Maxi-cosi nova because I think it would be most useful 'off-road' so to speak with the dog walking commitments. Found a great deal on ebay, looked way too big for the car boot though! Before we could decide, my cousin got in touch to say they're about to get rid of their iCandy Azure, so we might be going with that instead. I've heard the iCandy is pretty tough so hoping it could cope with the 'all terrain' experience...

TheCraicDealer · 22/03/2019 12:03

I was dead set on getting a Bugaboo Bee on the basis of posters here raving about them, and going on my sister's experience of getting fucked off with the travel system for nipping in and out of the car etc. But now I'm actually looking I'm getting seduced by the Fox- the bassinet is so roomy which will be good for a little one born in the autumn (cosy!) and the wheels and seat height just look more practical. I took DH to Mothercare to look at prams last night and when I pointed out that the white tabs on the Bugaboo frames all do something I could see he was actually quietly impressed Grin there's a nursery store locally that does the Fox with a Maxi-Cosi car seat with the isofix base and adaptors for £900 odd quid, which I could just about justify for PBF!

firstbabybean · 22/03/2019 12:06

I got swept up in all the pram discussion, got a case of FOMO and just bought one online -eeeks! I’ve been researching them for a while and went for the Bugaboo Fox in the limited edition stellar reflective model. I’m excited! And hoping I actually like it when I see it in real life, it was the only one I could find in stock in this country and they had a promotion on so I bit the bullet. Need a cup of tea and a sit down now. Hope you all have a lovely weekend x

kyles101 · 22/03/2019 12:12

I'm having some kind of I feel too good to be pregnant melt down so I've booked a private scan for tomorrow. Normally dh talks me out of my irrational worries, but I didn't bother ringing him today, the melt down had gone too far 😳 so scan tomorrow at 2:30 it is!

happydays00 · 22/03/2019 12:22

@kyles101 that's really funny!! I'm sure everything will be ok tomorrow at the scan. Pregnancy is just such a roller coaster!

@KnobJockey I am absolutely starving in the morning and need to eat every 20 - 30 minutes otherwise I start to retch but then my appetite disappears as the day continues (probably because I've eaten about 2000 calories before noon 😬)

How have people got on with buggy boards with previous DCs? My DD will be 2.9 when next baby arrives so was planning on getting a buggy board and using the sling if DD is being ahem, challenging!

MyBreadIsEggy · 22/03/2019 12:26

Knob I go from one extreme to the other - I’m either eating everything in sight or not eating at all.
And when I am eating, it’s fair to say my food choices are not healthy choices Blush

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/03/2019 13:15

Think i am leaning towards a sola 2 at the moment possibly this one www.trendybaby.co.uk/mamas-papas-sola-2-7-piece-travel-system-bundle-grey-marl?language=en&currency=GBP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1syej-aV4QIVmpntCh1X0g3AEAQYAyABEgKJ1fD_BwE or the black with rose gold chasis

kyles101 · 22/03/2019 13:46

Regarding prams, sometimes the Emma's diary app has some good offers depending on what you want - a couple of screenshots below x

I just had a gender scan and found out baby is a boy so on to prams I go

KnobJockey · 22/03/2019 15:01

Congrats Hsunshine!

Megan2018 · 22/03/2019 15:18

I'm tempted to look at 2nd hand options too - as we are only having the one baby it seems mad to overspend. But we'll see.

Happy to spend £500-£600 on new but draw the line at much more than that. I do like the iCandy Peach All Terrain - but new at £1080 is too much. There are second hand ones for about £400 but I'm not sure if I'd not be better off with something new.

The longlist to try is:

Quinny Buzz Extra
Jane Crosswalk r
Maxi Cosi Nova
Mamas and Papas Ocarro

I have discounted the Micralite, Babyjogger, Phil and Teds Sport and Out n About as they don't offer parent facing options although they look really god for older ones. So I might revisit these if the others don't suit.

But I expect one we actually look at some in the flesh I'll change my mind altogether!

IVEgottheDECAF · 22/03/2019 15:22

The Ocarro is HUGE. Its like a bus. As a small person i find this off putting
