Yes it does look big @IVEgottheDECAF
That doesn't faze me - but it probably won't fit the car.

There doesn't seem to be anything much that is good for off road, but compact and has parent facing option. if someone could just invent one asap that costs under £700 that'd be fabulous!

TheCraicDealer · 22/03/2019 15:44

Megan2018 the Cameleon has a handlebar that you can flip over so the big wheels are in front, apparently that's intended for off roading. The newest model is about £750 depending on fabrics etc, although you could get one secondhand. BabyPlanet have it for £759 with a Maxi Cosi car seat at the moment.

kyles101 · 22/03/2019 15:46

@Megan2018 try this site www.discountbabyequip.co.uk/bugaboo-cameleon-3-plus-aluminium-black-grey-melange-cabriofix-concrete-grey.ir

Got ours from here - 1st class service.

They're doing 10% off most prams I think, definitely 10% off the bugaboo range anyway- if you have the silver frame a cameleon will come in under budget - it's really good off road (one of the main reasons I went for one) super light and should last until at least 3 1/2 years old unless a very large child. It also flips up, so you can pull it, kind of like a golf cart I suppose, on 2 wheels, which is really good across gravel, snow or sand.

TheCraicDealer · 22/03/2019 15:52

Great minds kyles101 Grin

Megan2018 · 22/03/2019 16:00

Thanks, will look.

Have heard mixed review about that one off road though - it needs to be good in mud. Do you use it off road? I mean proper off road not just nicely mown grass.
It has to be farm proof!

MyBreadIsEggy · 22/03/2019 16:15

Admitted defeat and saw the GP this morning.
Pending the results of a throat swab, I either have viral pneumonia or strep throat Hmm
Feel like absolute death. Got both kids at home, and rather than finish work at lunchtime like he has done every other Friday in the history of forever, DH decided today was the day to go off on a jolly with one of his mates. Said he’d be home by 2:30.
Is he home yet?
Is he fuck.

kyles101 · 22/03/2019 16:16

Don't use it yet as it's our first, but it looks pretty robust, and it's light so I can't imagine it will get stuck easily. Will be used for occasional yard visiting, and all of my favourite walks are proper off road, so that's what I had in mind when we were choosing. Who knows I could be completely wrong but it felt like it would do the job to me. Then with the 2 wheel pull function I think you could literally pull it through anything - this is what it looks like set up like that as I'm not sure I'm explaining it correctly!

Eggy men are amazing aren't they. Can't live with them... actually yeah that's it. I'm sure I know a few people who have had strep throat this year, but I'm can't think that I've ever heard of anyone having it before? As soon as he gets back take yourself off to bed and wrap yourself up nice and cosy and warm.

GemmaJen · 22/03/2019 16:24

Prams, pushchairs - such a minefield 🙈

I'm looking at the ocarro too, also the cybex priam and cybex balios - has anyone come across these? The Ickle Bubba Stomp v4 looks interesting too and more budget friendly. We need one that can cope with off roading, though to be fair we'll probably pick up a second hand baby jogger summit for fields - with the horses, dog activities and my husband's car obsession I think we'll be on rough terrain more than pavements. I've heard the baby jogger summit is one of the best for deep gravel and lumpy ground?

Finally bought some maternity jeans - it's looking like I won't be able to do up my current jeans in a week or two. TopShop have a sale on ATM and some of their maternity items are included ☺️

MyBreadIsEggy · 22/03/2019 16:24

kyles I’ve had strep throat before and it sucks. My symptoms are very similar to last time, but the GP said the rattle in my lungs and the shit I’m coughing up makes her think it might be more to do with my lungs than my throat!
You know there would be absolute uproar if DH had so much as a sniffle and I left him home alone with both DCs to look after Hmm But because I’m a woman, I’m obviously some sort of superhero who never requires a sick day Hmm

kyles101 · 22/03/2019 16:31

😂 my boss actually went home today because he had a poorly tummy! Men!

Aww, coughing shit up doesn't sound pleasant... I really do think you should try and get some kind of rest, I was never a believer in it before but it actually genuinely does help you to get better quickly (if you're actually poorly and don't just have a tummy ache - grrr!)

TheCraicDealer · 22/03/2019 16:31

Friends of ours are keen runners and used their cameleon on forest trail runs for a while (big wheels to the front) so I'd think it would do the job alright. I was watching a Fleur de Force 'baby essentials' video at the weekend and she raved about the original baby jogger and strongly recommended for those who live rurally, but obviously it's not parent facing.

Parent facing is a big thing for me, I want to be able to see their little face for as long as possible!

MyBreadIsEggy · 22/03/2019 16:32

kyles the second he walks in, I will be going upstairs.
He can suck a dick if he thinks I’m cooking today.

kyles101 · 22/03/2019 16:34

@TheCraicDealer I was talking to a lady in a shop about that and I said it was sad when people turned them around so early, and she said hey can see just as much interesting stuff parent facing as world, and then obviously you can talk about what you're seeing too so I don't think I'll be turning for a while either!!

Ooh yeah the flip the handle bar to get the big wheels at the front is soo cool - I think that's what sold dh on it 😂

Karigan195 · 22/03/2019 16:35

@TheCraicDealer parent facing is big for me too. It helps them learn to talk faster if they can see your face and hear the sounds

TwittleBee · 22/03/2019 16:36

We turned ours super early for DS, he hated looking at our faces I swear. It was mum who suggested we try turning him outwards so he can see more and maybe would feel less sick. And yup, there was no going back for a good while! Typically he now prefers facing his mummy at 20 months old haha.

kyles101 · 22/03/2019 16:37

Eggy I swear my dh would have to give consideration as to which he would prefer doing - I'm not entirely sure he knows what the oven does 🤷‍♀️ I hope you're going to throw some kind of withering look can kill type glare as he walks in and you go upstairs?

MyBreadIsEggy · 22/03/2019 16:40

kyles I’m thinking more of a flying object to the head for being a selfish bastard Hmm
But I’ll try and refrain from actually assaulting him.

Megan2018 · 22/03/2019 16:44

I'll have a look at the Chameleon then too in the flesh.
Price is do-able so if it fits the car it is a contender.

Had message from fellow horse owning friend today who had her baby last Sept. Turns out she has the iCandy All Terrain but bought 2nd hand and says it is completely brilliant so am now tempted to consider this too (but not new £1080 is too much - I could almost buy a new dressage saddle with that and I know what I'd rather have!).

I really liked the look of the baby joggers but the parent facing is important so that's a no I think unless we run out of boot options, then it will have to be the compromise but with a carrycot to start with.

kyles101 · 22/03/2019 17:15

Megan how about something really cheap second hand for the yard - just has to move between stable, school etc. Then you could leave it there and not have to worry about space in the car / mud caked wheels etc.
Then something a bit nicer that doesn't have to be quite as rugged for everyday use so could potentially be a bit smaller?

Megan2018 · 22/03/2019 17:27

@kyles101

We live in a tiny village (hamlet really) with no pavements to speak of so all of our walking at home is off road too - as well as at the stables which is 6 miles away by car. So we will doing mud/grass/offroad at home and horse. Joys of country life!

Once we have had successful 20 week scan I'll take DH to view an assortment and try out boot - then once I have a preference I'll either scout online for a bargain or look at ebay and facebook groups for a 2nd hand option. Friend got her iCandy for £50!! I doubt I'd be that lucky tbh.

At least I have a list thanks to this thread of what to look at which narrows it down somewhat! It's been really helpful - thanks all Smile

Florencenotflo · 22/03/2019 19:02

Talking of slings, I had an ama wrap for Dd. It's just the long stretchy bit of material. Once I'd got the hang of tying it, it was great. Dd loved it. DH bought an expensive Stokee one which he used about 3 times at most. I'm half tempted to sell that one and buy myself a couple more in different colours.

We'll re-use our pram/pushchair even though I don't really like it anymore. I'm telling myself I can put that money towards more time off if I don't buy another pushchair.

Had my VBAC meeting/discussion thing today. Which was actually quite good. I didn't have to make a decision today it was just a chat to go through my previous birth and c section and discuss the pro's and cons. The MW was quite honest and said that a VBAC will always be encouraged where it is the safest option, but ultimately it's up to me.

She has put on my notes that current plan is VBAC but I will not have a medical induction, no sweeps and I would be refusing all internal exams. I will have to be monitored continuously, but she said that I need to be firm and if I'm told to lay on the bed to be monitored or to try and be still then I can refuse. I might need to hold the pads on at times but there is no reason why I can't use a birthing ball or stand up etc.

She said first time around Mums are like rabbits in headlights and often won't question MW's. She said that if I'm told to do something then ask why, it's a perfectly reasonable thing to ask. Ask what the risk is if I don't do whatever they ask.

If I haven't gone into labour by my due date then I would be going for a c section.

I've got until my consultant appointment at 28 weeks to decide but she said people change their minds right up until the end. So all in all it was quite positive!

heather88 · 22/03/2019 19:32

So I’ve had a dramatic 24 hours, heavy cramping, bleeding and horrid clotting culminating in what I can only describe as a mini labour and trip to a&e (I was going to beg for painkillers but they told me to load up on paracetamol and sent me home, ha!), then had my scan this morning to confirm my pregnancy has ended.

Thanks so much for all your kind words and thoughts, I felt less alone yesterday knowing there were people thinking of me. DH has been amazing and I’m feeling okay about it... it just wasn’t meant to be this time! And I got pregnant so chances are good that it’ll happen again Wink

Wishing you all the very best with your pregnancies and maybe see you on a future baby thread! Smile xxx

TwittleBee · 22/03/2019 19:35

heather I am so so sorry for your loss. There's no words. Please do look after yourself in this difficult time but I am glad to hear it appears you are taking it well. It is terribly common but chances of it happening again are so low. Good luck for your future pregnancy hun Flowers

Florencenotflo · 22/03/2019 19:37

@heather88 I'm so sorry. I've been there too at a similar stage to you. Just be kind to yourself, don't try and rush the grieving process. Thanks
