So sorry how ill you are MyBreadIsEggy it really is shit we can only take paracetamol.

We have a Silver Cross Pioneer from DS IVEgottheDECAF whixh I actually hate now. I loved it at first, it's so beautiful (it's a John Lewis Special Edition) and feels really secure for newborns but it soon become a drag having to lift something so heavy and is awful for steering really. We ended up buying a second hand Maxi Cosi Elea which folds nicely, much lighter and has better steering. I think we will use the Silver Cross during the newborn stage and then switch back to the Maxi Cosi.

16 1/2 weeks and still getting nausea here too. Beginning to think it’s a bit self inflicted though as it’s striking when I’m tired. So do a long work day and following day is hell. Go hiking and following day is hell.

Also getting that distinct turtle on back feeling trying to get out of bed. 😂

MegCharlotte · 18/03/2019 10:36

@IVEgottheDECAF Re. Prams I was thinking the Bugaboo chameleon 3+ as I can get a 20% discount through work. Anyone got thoughts on this make/model?

Megan2018 · 18/03/2019 10:36

Its a 15wk instead of 16wk appointment here now and no heartbeat until 24wks.
Going to be a long wait until scan at 19+6!

MyBreadIsEggy · 18/03/2019 11:05

Thanks Twittle - it’s honeslty like my immune system just packs it’s bags and fucks off on a little holiday as soon as a hint of a foetus appears in my womb Hmm I was the same with the other two as well!

Re: prams, I had a Silver Cross Pioneer with DD and it was beautiful Grin Sturdy, but easy to push and fold etc.
When DS came along, I assumed I would be needing a double, so shelled out for an iCandy Peach double....which was actually used as a double about 5 times Hmm DS just wasn’t having any of it. He much preferred a sling, and has only just started going in a cheap umbrella stroller for preschool runs in the last couple of months!
I’ve still got my iCandy if I really need it, but I definitely won’t be bothering with a pram this time around at all.

Karigan195 · 18/03/2019 11:37

We’re not getting a pram either. Last time I had a maxi Cosi Mura which was perfect. I’m not getting the same this time as they have changed it and it’s really bulky but I’ll find something very similar with a lowdown seat suitable from birth and a chair which turns to face either way.

Astret · 18/03/2019 11:37

Hi folks, also been catching up on the thread.
Sorry to hear so many folks feeling under the weather! @MyBreadisEggy, @IveGottheDecaf, @Boodles - get well soon! I'm (fingers crossed) managing to steer clear of the coughs and colds thus far - though needing a huge amount of sleep and getting nausea and headaches when I don't get it.

Good to hear advice and info on prams and buggys - we have been worrying about carseats too - are the carseat-to-buggy 'travel solutions' worthwhile? We have to walk the dog twice a day so I plan on taking DC outdoors a fair amount after arrival.

TwittleBee · 18/03/2019 12:11

Well babies aren't meant to be in a car seat for more than half hour at a time Astret so although both my prams are compatible with our car seat, we've never used it as haven't come across a scenario where baby would be in the car seat in the car and then out about in under half hour.

Easterbuns1 · 18/03/2019 12:16

I've already got my pram Blush I really wanted a bugaboo cameleon and an immaculate second hand one came up for a brilliant price so seemed daft not to. I'm going to order a different colour pack for it but very pleased with my bargain. Will likely use sling when out with the dog as well.

I've got consultant tomorrow for first appointment, not sure if I will get another peek at the baby or not, my friend has been at her appointments. Then got mw on Thursday for 16wk app. They won't use Doppler til 24 weeks here either so will likely be a quick 5 minute bp check and that's it! Sexing scan at the weekend too.

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/03/2019 12:43

Oh i love a pram Blush

I am considering a m&p sola 2 at the moment as we had a m&p zoom which is very similar for dc3 and it was my favorite pram

Megan2018 · 18/03/2019 12:44

I'm not looking properly until after 20 wk scan - but on internet browsing alone the Maxi-Cosi Nova looks to do what we need.
My boot space will be the issue though as I have an unusual car so not sure if it'll fit.
The baby jogger city mini GT would also work apart from the fact that the main pushchair not parent facing. So that puts me off it.

I need something for off road as we are very rural and walking will be in fields and rough tracks, but also something that folds up small easily. Going to get one with a separate carrycot but not bothered about integrated car seats as just getting to our shops takes a good 20 mins by car so can't see baby being able to stay in the car seat.

Also like the look of the close caboo sling to start with - but that will be an ebay item in case it doesn't suit! Seem to be lots on there at a good price.

MyBreadIsEggy · 18/03/2019 13:03

*MeganI both of my babies practically lived in a Close Caboo for their first year - it’s my favourite out of my embarrassingly large sling collection Blush
It’s one of the few that is suitable from 5lbs too, so perfect for my teeny tiny babies

boodles101 · 18/03/2019 13:14

Hi have a silvercross wayfarer from DS, it's in excellent condition but it's no good to me now as I'll need a double.
mybreadiseggy if you decide you want rid of the icandy double, let me know!

Stroan · 18/03/2019 13:59

Finally showing signs of getting over this chest infection, looking forward to getting whatever comes next! Still have 24/7 nausea and sick several times, I'm refusing to even answer people who tell me it should have peaked by now.

@megcharlotte I LOVE my Bugaboo Chameleon 3. I chose it because a friend used hers for 6 years and it was still in good condition. I'm going to get mine serviced to get it checked over and cleaned up but it's still perfect after 3 years. We didn't really feel the need to switch to a stroller because the Bugaboo was so light anyway, I find strollers impossible to push! It takes up the whole boot but not a major issue really.

@megan2018 you've reminded me I need to track down my Close Caboo from whatever friend I lent it to! Loved it. Hope this baby tolerates a sling for more than a year, haven't quite forgiven DD for refusing after I'd bought a gorgeous Tula!

Megan2018 · 18/03/2019 14:06

Glad others have got on well with the close caboo - have seen it mentioned in a few places and I have watched a few videos and seems easy enough to do in front of a mirror at least! So seemed a good place to start for a novice.
Have seen a few on ebay for not much money so figure it's worth a try as can sell it on again if needed. Not buying yet though as too superstitious pre next scan.

If baby takes after me she'll be a tiny 5lb, if she takes after DH she'll be a whopping 10lb so trying to err on the side of things that could suit any size!

MyBreadIsEggy · 18/03/2019 14:26

Boodles you wouldn’t want my iCandy, it’s in a right state! The garage in our old house was damp as a frog’s back, and while I managed to scrub all the actual mould off the seat liners etc, the little black stains have remained. And DC1 has chomped the foam on the bumper bars etc Blush The only bits of it that are in pretty good nick are the upper and lower carrycots as they were never used!

TwittleBee · 18/03/2019 14:28

Close caboo is amazing! And slings are just such a life saver! Really looking foward to 're using my one with this baby. We actually have another toddler carrier too (can't remember the brand now) which I happily carried DS around Ikea in when he was 14 months.

Stroan · 18/03/2019 15:14

@megan2018 we thought we'd have an average sized baby as DH and I were both about 6lbs. DD was 10lbs 3oz!

OP posts:
TwittleBee · 18/03/2019 15:17

Same here Stroan about assuming we would be on track for an average sized baby (despite DH now being 6'4"). DS was born 7lbs 1 3 weeks early So goodness knows how big he would have got if we made it to 40 weeks! I remember the curve of my belly growth chart suddenly shooting up like a rocket over the last couple MW visits - was due for a growth scan but never made it haha.

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/03/2019 15:23

I am very petite. My mw with dc1 told me a lady my size would only have a 6 and half lb baby at most. Dc ranged between 7lb9 and 8lb9. None made it to EDD.

Stroan · 18/03/2019 15:25

@twittlebee they say that babies put on about 1lb a week at the end so you could definitely have had a huge one!

They always planned to induce me early because of gestational diabetes but I was fully diet controlled. A growth scan at 36 weeks estimated that she would be 7-8lbs at term so they changed their mind on induction. I was induced for other reasons on my due date and had a 10lber! If I'd gone two weeks overdue, it could have been 12. Growth scans are notoriously innaccurate so I can't believe they made such an important decision on that basis.

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 18/03/2019 15:32

Growth scans at the end are almost pointless

I had one two days before dc was born at it was a whole lb wrong

TwittleBee · 18/03/2019 15:36

Oh wow that really is crazy how inaccurate they can be! Way they go on about it makes it sound like it be way more accurate than the old bump measuring! I think they were worried about me having too much fluid though so I suppose they would have been able to check for that!

That reminds me IVEgottheDECAF ... those who have had multiple births, do subsequent DCs always come earlier? Think we may have mentioned this before but got my consultant app coming up soon about being monitored for this pregnancy for risk of PPROM again

MyBreadIsEggy · 18/03/2019 15:41

I’m 5’3” and petite, I was 6lb 10oz at birth.
DH is 6’2” and muscular build, but was only 5lb something at birth thanks to his Thai heritage!
Our DCs were 6lb 12oz (born 38+1), and 6lb 9oz (born 36+0), and have both grown into pretty scrawny toddlers!

I’m also one who takes the results of growth scans with a pinch of salt.
My bump with DC2 was tiny, and the fundal height chart on a steep, downward curve. I was told to expect a very small baby and mymplacenta was likely failing. Went for a growth scan and was told that if he continued following his current growth line, he would be around 4lbs 8oz at full term Hmm He was born at home, after a spontaneous labour, 6lb 9oz at 36 weeks. Out comes my placenta and the midwife commented “ooo red and juicy, just what we like to see!” Hmm So in my experience, growth scans haven’t been accurate at all!

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/03/2019 15:42

Mine didnt twittle

Mine went .....

5 days early
12 days early
3 days early
1 day early

Each one bigger than last though
