@mybreadiseggy my immune system has departed the building. I've got a chest infection this week and completely lost my voice for two days. I don't remember this from last time, but I was able to rest more I think.

Morning everyone, sorry for no update last night ended up being a v late one and didnt get home til 3.

Scan showed heartbeat looked fine, thank god. I’m still going to be a bit jumpy I think because google (I know) says that the heartbeat can stop up a few days later, but for now just focusing on the fact the registrar told me she thought everything looked fine.

I was SO impressed at the level of care, the obgyn doctor was meant to come to A&E, but it was so busy on labour ward they couldn’t leave and eventually they asked me to go over there instead and sneaked me in despite only being 13 weeks. But it did mean spending a little while in labour ward triage which is an experience that might take a little while to process - I wasn’t at all prepared for hearing women the other side of a curtain actually in labour!

Thanks for all the good wishes, hugely appreciated. Work today going to be interesting on 3 hours sleep, serves me right for being an idiot but I do feel guilty about DH who had to go through the whole thing between two extremely busy work days.

MyBreadIsEggy · 15/03/2019 08:44

That’s great to hear @Forthelove Smile

@Stroan I had shingles early on in both previous pregnancies and felt like I was going to g to die Sad Worst illness I’ve ever had. I’d did start out like this, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for any suspicious rashes on my rib cage. The dr last time said that the virus tends to choose one area of the body it like and take host over a string of nerves in that particular area, which is why I had identical rashes, in a perfectly straight line in the same place running up my side the last two times I had it! She also said it’s uncommon in people of my age - it’s usually older people or young children who get it, so my immune system must had been very run down in order for it to flare up on someone in my early 20’s!

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/03/2019 08:49

science i had a bleed in a previous pregnancy at just 16 weeks and was put on labour ward, it is a strange experience....

boodles101 · 15/03/2019 10:29

Glad everything is ok forthelove and great that you were well cared for.
I'm feeling quite snappy today and lacking in patience with people.

Megan2018 · 15/03/2019 10:31

@boodles101
Same!
i tried to buy some things at Dorothy Perkins in the sale - but couldn't complete checkout as their system has decided my postcode is invalid (despite having deliveries before).
The items are now sold out.

I have thrown an almighty strop and will no doubt take it out on everyone else today!

DustyDoorframes · 15/03/2019 11:18

forthelove what a horrific evening/night!!! I'm so glad everything got checked out and is looking good!!!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 15/03/2019 11:28

@Fortheloveofscience so pleased that everything is ok for you and bump!

BBell2 · 15/03/2019 11:34

@MyBreadIsEggy, @stroan - same Im sure I have had a cold/cough/sore throat since the day I found out. Its been a cover for work though, no ones noticing my tummy or that I might have had time off for anything over than this too busy trying to avoid the obviously snotty person. Smile

@fortheloveofscience im so pleased you were well looked after, what a shocking thing to happen. I bet the labour ward was interesting ! When I was on ward with DD the woman next to me screamed that she wanted her legs chopping off EVERY contraction. When I asked if she was ok my MW (who was really old school, knew my MIL and had met me in local care) whispered that she wasnt very far along. I never felt anything that bad.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 15/03/2019 11:37

We’ve had our NIPT results back this morning and all low risk, which is a relief. We’ve also found out that we’re having a girl 💕 - a little sister for our almost 2yo DD.

I thought boy from my symptoms but the nub shot on our scan picture made me think girlie — quite interesting the nub theory!

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri
Excellent news!

Mumtobe89 · 15/03/2019 12:16

We had our scan this morning and baby was perfect the sonographer even said it was the best scan she's done in terms of clarity and getting the measurements! 13+5 so due date 15th September.

Hope everyone else is keeping well and good luck to all those with scans still to come.

KnobJockey · 15/03/2019 12:18

Congratulations Bridget! Can you see the nub on your picture above? I don't think you can see it on mine, because of the leg placement, but yours looks very similar. I'm not finding out, but that's not going to stop me guessing!

Science, I'm very glad everythings OK.

My 20 week scan is through for the 3rd May. I've also got an antenatal appointment through at the hospital for the 9th May, at almost 22 weeks, with a consultant, not my midwife, and I've got no idea why- anyone else? Is that a normal appointment?

KnobJockey · 15/03/2019 12:20

Congrats to you too Mumtobe! That's late for your scan, I bet you've been climbing the walls!

DustyDoorframes · 15/03/2019 12:22

Brilliant news mumtobe and bridget!
I think someone else is scanning today too, right? Good luck!

Megan2018 · 15/03/2019 12:32

@KnobJockey
Did MW tell you you'd be consultant led?

I am and have a consultant appointment booked but it is later than that, not till July! I think it is standard for consultant led delivery.

I am because it is first pg and am over 40.

boodles101 · 15/03/2019 12:48

Congrats on the scans mumtobe and bridget think there are quite a few confirmed girls now?!

KnobJockey · 15/03/2019 12:53

@Megan2018, no was really hoping for midwife led as I'd like the midwife unit. First pregnancy was consultant led, but because of growth issues after coming into contact with slapped cheek, so shouldn't have any affect on this one. I wondered if maybe it's because I've had Lletz treatment on dodgy cervical cells after a smear a few years ago, but surely they would have told me to expect it?

Megan2018 · 15/03/2019 12:58

I've added a column to the spreadsheet with Sex of baby if people want to add it? Optional obvs - but be interesting to see what we end up with.

Karigan195 · 15/03/2019 13:00

@KnobJockey

I’m consultant led due to age and dodgy thyroid. Any medical or baby concerns you get consultant led just in case but if you’re consultant led it does not mean midwife unit isn’t open to you. Depends on if the consultant is happy with it or not and always mums choice at the end

Megan2018 · 15/03/2019 13:01

Could be I guess @KnobJockey
Have you got MW appointment before the 20wk scan? They should be able to tell you why.

I have the opposite in that MW said I'd see consultant within 2 weeks of 12wk scan yet not being seen until July! But I see MW again on Monday so will ask her why.

Karigan195 · 15/03/2019 13:01

I can’t even get onto that spread sheet lol

Fortheloveofscience · 15/03/2019 13:10

Congratulations mumtobe and bridget Smile

DustyDoorframes · 15/03/2019 13:16

I keep forgetting about the spreadsheet! @Megan2018 , please could you link it again? Thank you!!

boodles101 · 15/03/2019 13:23

knobjockey I had a lletz before DS and was referred to consultant around 20 weeks too. It was a waste of time and he very quickly released me back to midwife care. Lletz had no impact on my pregnancy or birth.
