I woke up this morning with the most intense back pain and genuinely thought it was the start of something. It's faded now though and not come back so I think I more than likely just slept funny ha. It's so easy to over analyse every little thing!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 02/03/2019 08:59

It's the optimistic hope @whatalearningcurve.... Followed by the deep despondent disappointment!

I hope that isn't the same as me being discharged today. My bags are packed and I am ready to run.....

CaseofEllen · 02/03/2019 09:08

Congratulations @Harley8888 πŸ’™

@SquirtlesMumAgain hope you get to go home today!

I'm so ready to meet my boy now, come on labour! 🀞🏼

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 02/03/2019 09:46

@Sheeni welcome! We're DD twins.

Congratulations @Harley8888. I love the name! How are you feeling?

Jenfur · 02/03/2019 10:57

@SquirtlesMumAgain fingers crossed you get home today!

@Jenlou1992 Sorry you're feeling low. You're definitely not alone, I'm an emotional rollercoaster this last couple of weeks. Fed up with all the changes and discomfort and very ready to have baby here now! Take care of yourself and try to get plenty of rest.

@Sheeni Welcome! No advice about the sensitivity, sorry, but I'm sure you'll manage the birth.

@babycatcher411 Thanks for the info and treatment ideas. DH had a look (felt so glamorous) and couldn't see anything but I'll speak to the midwife on Tuesday anyway since she's a professional and DH can't find something under his nose. It's basically really sore to walk around, get up from sitting, turn over in bed etc. and after I walked around more than usual the other weekend, I felt really swollen and spent the evening with a cold flannel down there to try to relieve the pain.

@Wineandchoccy sorry to hear you had them, if it's what I have then it's not pleasant! Glad to hear they went straight away though, that gives me hope.

@Harley8888 congratulations! Hope you're both doing well.

MistakenHoliday · 02/03/2019 12:41

@Harley8888 massive congratulations and what a great name!

babycatcher411 · 02/03/2019 12:47

@Hermagsjesty when I get on the laptop I’ll email you some of the research and a more in-depth reply, but the main points to consider are: - getting the first dose of antibiotics in ASAP (this I regardless of going in the pool, and regardless of how quick you might labour).
-What the hospital guidelines are on cannula care in water.
-If there are any other risk factors that might β€˜exclude’ pool use.

Off the top of my head, the main piece of research that supports getting in the pool is written by a chap called Zanetti-Dallenbach (in 2007).

babycatcher411 · 02/03/2019 12:53

@Jenfur ah the joys of pregnancy, definitely the most glamorous experience I’ve had 🀨
It could be a bit of both, definitely worth getting checked out with the midwife just in case, she might have some other suggestions/refer you to your GP.
If it’s SPD, you may find, as a make shift support, wrapping/tying a long piece of material (scarf?) firmly around your hips helps with the discomfort of moving around, particularly in bed.
I wouldn’t say I’ve got SPD as such, as I don’t have any issues with stairs, stepping in/out the car etc, but I definitely struggling with pain and discomfort moving around in bed and getting up out of bed and have definitely found a firmly applied scarf helps.

CaseofEllen · 02/03/2019 13:49

Hope everyone is okay today! I was woken up by the new neighbour knocking down their brick front wall at 8am Hmm not usually a problem but on a Saturday at 37 weeks pregnant I was not impressed! πŸ˜‚

I also feel like I've got a UTI, feeling a little sore down below and a lot of pressure. Plus on and off tightenings for the last day or so. I've read that the start of Labour could feel like a UTI so I'm really in two minds if I should bother ringing anyway to get my sample tested πŸ€” xx

SharonO225 · 02/03/2019 15:03

Hi everyone,

Congratulations @Harley8888 I hope ur both well οΏΌThanks

Welcome to the group @Jenlou1992 & @Sheeni Smile

I've just been for my sweep at 12.30 (38wks today) midwife could get in on outer part of cervix but baby's side was sealed tight.. she said baby's head was pressed very firmly against it too. She said she give as much of a stretch as possible but could not get in to sweep. She did say though that it could still be enough to stimulate something but if not then I'm seeing her again on Tuesday to try again. If that doesn't work on Tuesday she will try again Saturday before they attempt an induction on the Monday.

I'm a bit gutted as I had hoped it would just kick start everything today but I don't think that will happen now.. maybe I can get hubby to assist later when he's home and see if that may give her a boost lol

melissa112 · 02/03/2019 16:54

@Gronk27 mmm Daim bar cake, sounds lovely!

@Angelmiracle glad you are feeling less anxious now you've finished work. I think when you're in the thick of it you don't realise how much of an impact it can have.

Hi and welcome to the group @Sheeni

@Harley8888 congratulations on your baby boy, love his name!

@SquirtlesMumAgain hope you managed to get home today?

@WhatALearningCurve I also keep having periods of getting hopeful that something is happening then is subsides. The past two evenings I've had so much pressure in my pelvis and bum Blush with cramps but then after an hour or so it eases and nothing comes of it. Not long to go now Smile

@CaseofEllen oh no, I'd be annoyed by the brick wall coming down at that time too, as you say, normally ok but after no doubt a night of no sleep, the last thing you need! Maybe worth ringing the GP and dropping off a sample just incase. They should be pretty quick at turning the results around.

@SharonO225 hope the sweep starts something off for you. It's good that you don't have to wait too long for the next one if it doesn't help.

Sorry if I've missed anything.

Finally feel a bit more ready for baby now. DP has finally given the bathroom a proper deep clean. Just some odd bits and bobs left for him to do round the house that I can't reach and I'll feel mentally sound if the baby did arrive. Feels like a big weight off my shoulders despite the smell!

ballanj · 02/03/2019 17:03

@Harley8888 congratulations!! Gorgeous name and lovely size too πŸ€— hope you're enjoying all of it

melissa112 · 02/03/2019 17:57

Is anyone else going to really miss this group once the babies are all here? You have all been such a great support throughout the last 9 months!

HidCat · 02/03/2019 18:07

@Sheeni welcome to the group. Hope your little one doesn't keep you waiting too much longer!

@Harley8888 congratulations! I think he's probably our earliest official March baby!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 02/03/2019 19:09

Home, but struggling. Not so bad that I need to go back.

I have a tmi question - has anyone used tesco Maternity pads and found that they have blue marks in them?
I noticed it yesterday and thought maybe it was the dye from my knickers but had a shower before I was discharged and noticed it again today.
I am wondering if it is a marker that it is urine rather than waters, or the other way round... But feels really odd!
(my coughing is sadly causing some extra leaking urine, my pelvic floor can't quite hold up to it!)

SharonO225 · 02/03/2019 20:34

@SquirtlesMumAgain I used Tesco maternity pads with my last one and don't remember them having any blue dye etc in them. There are maternity pads for detecting amniotic fluid from boots but it's almost Β£30 for a pack of 12. They're really expensive so can't see Tesco doing them in they're own brand. Is it possibly leggings or your bottoms over the pants causing the discolouring? X

SquirtlesMumAgain · 02/03/2019 20:58

I saw those, but yes seems odd. I can't see how they could of as the blue was in the centre middle of the pad.
Have put a new one in to see what happens after having a good clean, though nothing oddly coloured comes away when I am wiping so definitely something to do with the pad/clothes rather than my body directly leaking blue (though at the moment I wouldn't put anything past it!)

Wineandchoccy · 02/03/2019 21:35

@melissa112 we will have to migrate over to the postnatal boards on here Smile

Wineandchoccy · 02/03/2019 21:39

@SquirtlesMumAgain I’m glad you are home hope you can get some rest.

I have done my 1st solo nighttime with 2 of them and it went ok DH is playing in a snooker tournament he kept saying he would cancel but I made him go. I bought a pizza so that I could eat one handed but she slept whilst I ate.

Gronk27 · 02/03/2019 21:51

@melissa112 @wineandchoccy yes surely we're going to be discussing the fact our babies haven't poo'd for a week, leaks from every orifice (ours and theirs), putting your tea in the bin and walking off with the teabag and all the joys of motherhood?

Wineandchoccy · 02/03/2019 21:58

@Gronk27 my DH said to me earlier do you never finish a cup of tea Angry Well I would like to but I have small baby hanging off my boob 99% of the day and a 3 year old asking me 101 questions so no DH I don’t Grin

SquirtlesMumAgain · 02/03/2019 22:01

@wineandchoccy - well done!!! Eating with 2 hands is a miracle too!!!

ballanj · 02/03/2019 22:30

I wanted to ask what happens to our group once we've all had our babies? Do we simply migrate over to a new board called postnatal Marchers 2019 or something like that?!

melissa112 · 02/03/2019 22:35

@SquirtlesMumAgain glad you're home.Smile

Yes I definitely think we need a Marchers group in the Postnatal board!
