Hi ladies, I'd like to join June 19 please 😊 Expecting our third. Our children are 12 and 10 so it's been a while since I've done this 😂

Heyha · 26/02/2019 07:47

@hexagon01 I was aiming for September too (nice long summer holiday to rest up first) but got lucky earlier than I thought we would and here we are! Not looking forward to doing the maths for our- hopefully- second, I don't envy that!

Fabuluce · 26/02/2019 08:41

We aimed for a September baby too but unfortunately the blooming ivf didn't work the first or second times so here we are in June! Did better with my DH as he's October.

Welcome @S00tired - there's quite a few with 3 in this group so you'll be in good company.

Intense odd/disturbing dreams are haunting my nighttime at the moment. I wish they would stop!

Spargle · 26/02/2019 13:37

We really wanted a May or June baby (we are May and June babies ourselves, and just really like our birthdays). Unfortunately, it turned out that we are not very fertile together, so we were ready to accept whatever we got, if we ever got that far. The fact that I became pregnant while we were waiting for the IVF stuff to start AND it’s possibly going to be a June baby (I’m expecting July myself - 19th June doesn’t give two weeks leeway like I want!) is possibly a miracle!

Of course, we can’t afford this baby at all. But I don’t think there will ever be a good time for this, and it’s a much less actively bad time than it could have been!

SassehMonsta · 26/02/2019 14:17

I had a termination for our second child as we couldn't afford it at the time. I do not regret it as we were not ready emotionally, physically, or financially. DD was 5 months old, I had HG, was working a 0 hr contract.

But this time, it's going to be tight but we have really cut back in the last 18 month's. We can't afford nursery for this one so the plan is that DH just goes full time work and we live off his salary. I can always contract out or go back to my 0hr contract job if we need to in the future. I am a part qualified accountant with experience in admin and accounts payable roles, so that should hold up well.

toasterstrudle · 26/02/2019 19:35

I feel like it's all suddenly starting to get a lot more real!! We sadly had two miscarriages before this pregnancy so didn't really give much thought to timing but very excited to have another summer baby as we can reuse lots of things from summer-born DS hopefully!

Hope everyone's getting on ok, I'm 25 weeks now and had to put in official notice of mat leave at work, exciting!

toasterstrudle · 26/02/2019 19:43

(Also I'm in Scotland so September babies aren't too much of a concern here!)

toomanyflatwhites · 26/02/2019 20:05

The timing thing is so tricky, it's like you can work out an "ideal" time for you and your family for whatever reason (not least - for financial reasons) but then you get pregnancy more quickly or slowly than you thought - it's not like we can just tick a box on a form and say "I want a June baby" - though if I'd got to tick something I'd have gone for something between April and June so pretty glad we managed that ;)
Starting to feel much more real over here too now, the now very obvious kicking helps with that!! As does the suddenly much bigger bump...
Today I've been so uncomfortable at work I've had to keep getting up every 15 minutes or something similarly ridiculous...between doing laps of our corridor at work because it hurt to sit, or going for a wee every half an hour it wasn't a hugely productive day - unless you count the number of steps I did!!

hexagon01 · 26/02/2019 21:02

Yes, the timing thing is strange isn’t it. I’m not one of those who wanted a September baby for school reasons, I don’t put much stock in that, just literally because that’s (a year later, when I’d be going back to work) when we get our free nursery hours for number 1 so it made financial sense. In reality even though financially it’s not great for a while, this baby is due around my birthday and I LOVE my June birthday and am really pleased this this one will have a lovely early summer birthday to enjoy too.

Pigriver · 26/02/2019 22:05

My first was due on the first day of term in September. I’m a teacher so I finished for the summer, had 6 weeks off then waited another 2 weeks for the baby! I officially went back in July for a week before having another 6 weeks off. It was great!
I would have loved another September baby but things happened a bit faster than anticipated!
We also waited until his free nursery hours kicked in as there was no way we could afford 2 in nursery. Our bill dropped from £700 to £200 per month in Jan so we are saving the extra vouchers while we can. He will go to a school nursery when I go on mat leave and will drop further to £80 a month. He will start school when this one starts nursery/I return to work.
It means the £600 we are saving a month will help close the mat leave gap especially as I will take an extra month unpaid at the end.

2countries1bump · 27/02/2019 04:55

Yes to all the timings comments! We wanted this baby while we were still in the UK but 2 years ttc and no luck! For all the difficulties and differences of being abroad the relative cheapness of IVF ended up being a real advantage. After that I don't think we gave any thought to the month of birth - perhaps we'll rue that when it's boiling in July and August!

toomanyflatwhites · 27/02/2019 11:57

How is everyone today?

I was doing ok but then got some very sad news from an associate at work (not somebody I know well) that their child had passed away - they had a life limiting illness but almost the same birthday as my DD so although I barely know the mum I sobbed and sobbed at my desk (on my colleagues, my boss....) - now feel almost like I've got a hangover and wondering if I might take a half day from work to do something nice this afternoon. Can't wait to squeeze DD really tight tonight...

SassehMonsta · 27/02/2019 12:58

Ohhh toomany, that's a horrible start to a day. Go home and take a mental health day!! Go for a coffee or something.

Today I am hungry like there is no tomorrow. Yesterday I think I had my first hypo as I didn't get much/any lunch and felt very very odd. Ate some carbs and a chocolate bar, and started to feel better.

Also had sad news as my Nana is in hospital. She was put into a nursing home 3 weeks ago with severe dementia (was being looked after by another elderly relative who could no longer cope) and is now query pneumonia/chest infection. I don't know if I can go see her or not, or how she's doing! She also has diabetes (type 1) so I now empathise with her!

As for timing, we are planning to home-educate, so whenever is fine by us! I would have hated being heavily pregnant all summer so would not want an autumn baby, but we did no planning. Infact, we just had sex a few times and tadar, here we are 6 months later! DH had just had a circumcision and we were "testing" his new equipment and got carried away, as we had been using condoms before that. (FYI, 10/10, better than before).

Spargle · 27/02/2019 13:06

@toomanyflatwhites that’s horrible news. Poor family.

I’m kind of ok. Had a chest infection while working away from home, so had to go to the local out of hours service on Friday. Got antibiotics and an inhaler, both of which have been very helpful!

Then I got thrush (if course!) and an itchy rash, so I went to see the pharmacist. She said I had to see a doctor for the thrush medication, and that the rash was probably not an allergic reaction to the penicillin. I didn’t fancy going back to the doctor, so I left it another day to see if it would clear up (but we all know how successful that tactic is!).

Went back last night. Long wait to see the doctor this time - husband almost starved to death by the sound of him (he probably has a chest infection, too, but can breathe properly so I’ve not forced him to see a doctor).
The doctor thought that the rash could well be a penicillin allergy, and asked me to stop taking the antibiotic. He was reluctant to prescribe a different one as it wasn’t so clear that it was safe in pregnancy, my infection seems to have cleared up, and he didn’t think the benefits outweighed the risks.

So now I’m a bit paranoid that I’m contributing to the end of society as we know it by causing antibiotic resistance (I think the probability is low for one individual, but that doesn’t necessarily make it ok!). Or that it will come back stronger and harder to cure and I will die. (Also improbable.)

I’m feeling a bit less itchy today in all the places, though, and baby has just reached viability day, and has also had some fairly good wriggles this morning (he was very quiet until I got the first spoonful of cereal down me - think he takes after his dad!), so all in all it’s not a bad day!

toomanyflatwhites · 27/02/2019 16:55

I stayed at work but ate a LOT of biscuits. Have spent the whole day feeling a bit wobbly but not sure if that's pregnancy or the upset, who even knows anymore! @SassehMonsta sorry to hear about your nana too, but good she is being looked after (by the sounds of it).
@Spargle you made me laugh with your one woman antibiotic resistance worries, I'd be a bit like that too!!! Glad the itching is easing a bit, it's so bloody maddening...

WeeBean · 27/02/2019 17:54

Oh Too many, that's horrible! Hope a nice chilled evening is in store?

I wasn't sick this morning for the first time in weeks, which is great but last night I had some horrible bump pain at bedtime. It felt like stretching but was quite intense without being unbearable although I did nearly phone the hospital. Felt baby move a wee bit after then had some more pain for a little while. Wrecked my head a bit this morning thinking the pain and not being sick were linked but I felt him move earlier, although they're always muffled movements thanks to the anterior placenta and now I'm doubting myself they were even movements 🙄 This pregnancy is wrecking my head!

fee1234 · 27/02/2019 21:09

Well I treated myself to these bad boys today, I am well and truly out of my size 10 thongs and into my size 16 granny pants.

@SassehMonsta sorry to hear about your nana x

June 2019 - Part 6!
KoalasAteMyHomework · 27/02/2019 21:28

@WeeBean could the pain be Braxton Hicks? I've never experienced it but thought it was worth mentioning! Hopefully the not being sick this morning is the start of the sickness going away completely!

WeeBean · 27/02/2019 21:38

@KoalasAteMyHomework I did wonder if it was Braxton Hicks! Although it was a constant pain that didn't go away for about 20 minutes followed by another 5 minutes of constant pain before it all stopped. Thank you, fingers crossed!

Bigonesmallone3 · 27/02/2019 23:44

I can't cope with my nose, I smell everything it's driving me potty..
Dp has smoked haddock on Monday and I'm sure I can still smell it every time I walk in the house, everyone thinks I'm mad but I can smell it.
Iv had candles lit, Iv had windows open but it's still there.
The car smells funny, the daffodils in the bathroom smell funny 😭😭

I want to make use of my tampons and stick one up each nostril

KoalasAteMyHomework · 28/02/2019 07:02

@WeeBean I thought Braxton were more similar to a contraction than a constant pain. Hopefully some other posters have a better idea! Worth making a note of the pain maybe if it happens again so you can speak to your midwife?

@Bigonesmallone3 me too!!! I feel like whatever I have for dinner I can smell all night. The smell is strong enough that it makes me feel like I can taste the food even after brushing my teeth etc! I haven't had nausea for a few weeks but the smells are really putting me off certain foods still. And I can definitely tell when DS has done a dirty nappy, not so fun hahaha!

Fabuluce · 28/02/2019 07:13

@Bigonesmallone3 oh the smells are the pits aren't they. Fish is the worst too. When DH was pre vegan he loved a bit of Haddock or kippers for breakfast and the smell would linger for days. And that was without my hyper preggers nose. Bleurgh.

@fee1234 well done on the big pants. I normally go for under bump pants but I'm going to a wedding in a few weeks so might get an enormous pair to help hold the back fat in place in my frock. I bet that's conjuring up all sorts of delightful mental images!!

Fabuluce · 28/02/2019 07:16

@WeeBean that sounds painful. How are you feeling this morning? It's probably bracton hicks but worth a call to your midwife for reassurance?

Fabuluce · 28/02/2019 07:17

@toomanyflatwhites how are you feeling today after yesterday? Exhausted I'm sure. X

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 28/02/2019 07:39

So it turns out I have flu. This past few days has seen me up at the hospital twice, tested for flu twice, one negative result then back up the next day and tested again this time positive.

Today is the first day I can basically function in any way for more than 5 mins and thank god for DH who has been an absolute hero with the children.

Turns out this year is “special” for the amount of flu-related admissions for folk who’ve had the jab. It only covers certain types.

And to top it all we got another offer on the house yesterday. If this one doesn’t fall through we will be moving in 9 weeks.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Good thing is baby is fine as are other children. I’m absolutely totalled, my sense of smell is torturing me, nausea turned up to 11 and alternating between starving and feeling sick as a dog when anything passes my lips.

Christ I’m feeling sorry for myself.
