@Reastie and @WeeBean yes, I’ve actually been sleeping with a pillow between my knees for about a decade now! I developed sciatica in my early 20s (despite being in the best shape I’ve ever been in at that time) and I’ve been very protective of my back since then. So I always have good posture, supportive chairs, sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees, etc.

I did get a very expensive maternity pillow which has helped me escape back pain, but seems to do nothing for my hips.

@Kescilly my PGP/SPD this time round has been horrendous and I'm seeing my physio twice a month. She'll probably give you exercises to do and maybe a bump support belt. In the meantime, I would recommend continuing to sleep with pillow between your legs, and keep your legs/knees together as much as possible! Go up the stairs one stair and foot at a time, get out of bed/car with legs together etc. There are other things but I don't want to give you the wrong information or advice for your specific condition!

toomanyflatwhites · 22/02/2019 13:16

Viability day for me too, we must be due date twins @Blondcat!
Just been to a "normal" yoga class - I have been doing a LOT of yoga for over 10 years (I had a daily practice before DD was born) and managed to still do quite a lot in my first pregnancy, it it's been harder this time (mainly because I no longer work in a yoga studio, haha!!) and I can't find a pregnancy class anywhere that I can get to. It was actually really nice and the teacher was happy for me to be there as long as I knew how to modify as she isn't pregnancy trained. Bonus is that I can go even when DP is away as it's during lunchtime, and it's super cheap!

Blondcat · 22/02/2019 13:26

@toomanyflatwhites due date buddies congratulations to you too

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 22/02/2019 13:51

I think I’m 24 weeks today too, although my due date is 9 June, but I don’t think they’ve taken my long cycles into account. Either way, am I in the third trimester now?

In other news just when you think it’s all better anxiety comes up and batters you. DD has been unwell on and off for 3 weeks now. I’ve tried to excuse it as just “that time of year” as we have all had shit, long lasting colds but I’m sat in the nursery waiting for her to wake up from her nap - she never naps. It’s been two hours.

Now totally going off my head with worry and guilt. This pregnancy has opened up a particularly sinister part of my brain regarding catastrophising and it’s taking me apart.

Whinge over. When she wakes and we are back home eating biscuits soon this will all be a distant memory.

Napssavelives · 22/02/2019 14:19

I’m 24 weeks today too. Got home from a week at butlins with the kids (they had a great time) to husbands stuff all gone. He’s telling them tomorrow. He somehow thought it’d be helpful to put the cot in the spare room. Dragged it back down 2 flights of stairs to the garage, I can’t deal with that right now. I know eventually I need to prepare for the baby but I can’t even think about it.

toomanyflatwhites · 22/02/2019 14:49

Uuuuuu @Napssavelives that must have been horrid but so glad to hear the kids had a good time (and hope it wasn't too bad for you). Sending for tomorrow.
@PaulHollywoodsSexGut that's so odd, 24 weeks today and my due date is 14th - maybe I'm not due date buddies with @Blondcat afterall?
But regarding catastrophising - when I'm lying awake at night I have started thinking about family members dying (my parents, but also DP's grandmother) which isn't based on anything actually going on, just a case of realising it will happen some day and how the fucking fuck do you cope with it etc etc - but also then this had turned into thinking about practicalities with DP's grandmother who is v elderly and lives in his home country and what if she goes while I'm pregnant blah blah blah - dunno where all this came from but once it started it wouldn't stop 🙄 hope your little one is ok, probably just needs to rest.

Blondcat · 22/02/2019 15:03

@toomanyflatwhites definitely due date buddies 14th June is also my due date.

Kescilly · 22/02/2019 15:03

So many viability milestones today! I love it. How do people feel about how far along they are? Excited? Fed up?

Thanks @rollerskaterdata and everyone else for the recommendations. I tried calling a private place as well but they said they’d have to call me back and I haven’t heard from them.

Having sort of a crummy day. Our washer dryer has decided to stop drying things. I can’t dry clothes outside because of my allergies and we only have enough space to dry a few things at a time inside.

The repairman has been out and not only is it an expensive part to replace, it is a special order and can take 7-28 days to come in. As the machine isn’t even two years old! So I’m worried we will wait a month, spend a lot of money, and this will just happen again.

We’ve considered simply buying a new machine but I don’t know if that’s an overreaction and if any of them are reliable. This one had good reviews on Which? but lot of good that did us!

Bimbabo · 22/02/2019 17:01

Used to be an air hostess and you can fly with no restrictions until 28 weeks. From 28 weeks you need a fit to fly certification which you get from midwife or gp. From 36 weeks you can not fly. This is standard for European carriers. Some may differ so best to check with the company you are flying with.
After birth a baby has to be 2 weeks old to fly. However, if baby comes early then the baby has to be the age of a full term delivered baby and the 2 weeks. So if baby comes 4 weeks early you can’t fly till it’s 6 weeks old.

I’ve been having pelvic pain also and got a massive tubi grip which has helped. Also got a maternity belt which has made a difference. Roll on June! 😃

Fabuluce · 22/02/2019 17:08

Wow that's super helpful @Bimbabo - one of the many reasons why I love these groups. Thanks!

rollerskaterdata · 22/02/2019 17:36

Yaye and congrats to all ladies hitting viability today!

@Kescilly I know it's daft but to me at 26+1 today I still feel like I have ages left! This pregnancy has gone so slowly for me from start to finish so not surprising in that sense, my mental health has taken a battering and I'm just waiting to hit 30 Weeks and then I feel like the countdown will truly begin!

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut third trimester is widely and commonly agreed as starting week 28. A smaller number say week 27, and an even smaller number of sources (well miniscule really!) say from 26 weeks. So depending on who you talk to, third tri starts anywhere between week 26 and 28. I know which camp I'm in, I want to feel like I'm there sooner rather than later! Grin

rollerskaterdata · 22/02/2019 19:05

OMG guys need some reassurance! Have some friends over for dinner who bought a bottle of Buck's Fizz with them. I didn't know it was alcoholic having never had it before and (stupidly) didn't even check the bottle. Had a glass with dinner and then wondered why a) it tasted so nice and b) I felt a bit light headed. Turns out it's got alcohol in it being a mix of wine and orange juice! I feel so so stupid for not even checking before I drank it, I usually do and now I can't stop worrying I've hurt the baby 😰

Bigonesmallone3 · 22/02/2019 19:11

Oh baby will be fine, it's such a small amount and it's only a sparkling wine..
I was quite partial to the odd small glass of red in the third trimester with my last baby.
I would never touch a spirit..
Trust me.. baby will be absolutely fine.. don't worry

Kescilly · 22/02/2019 19:27

@rollerskaterdata don’t worry! I’m someone who rarely drinks even if I’m not pregnant, and I’ve decided not to have any when I’m pregnant or breastfeeding. So I’m really not liberal about my own alcohol use. But even I wouldn’t worry about some accidental Buck’s Fizz. Studies only show harm with certain levels of drinking which you definitely have not reached. And you’re not in the first trimester so I really really wouldn’t worry.

I hope you enjoyed it!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 22/02/2019 19:39

Roller please don't worry, baby will be fine especially if it was just one glass Smile
Because everyone's bodies react to alcohol differently it is easier for medical professionals to say avoid alcohol/limit consumption to 1-2 units once or twice a week. Some people could probably drink much more and still not cause issues but they have to standardise advice as 3 glasses of wine may be fine for some people but not for others. So honestly don't stress as that will probably be worse than the little bit of fizz you had!
I found Emily Oster's book Expecting Better really useful for things like this. She studied all the statistics and WHY we are given certain advice etc. Made me much more confident after reading it.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 22/02/2019 19:52

Thank you @rollerskaterdata and don’t take this the wrong way but you make me feel less freaked out when you say that your MH has taken a battering too. And I feel you so much regarding 30 weeks. I’m in total agreement.

Ps: regarding the booze you’ll be absolutely fine. It’s the equivalent of dropping a glass of wine into a bathtub if that makes sense.

Curlywurly3 · 22/02/2019 19:56

Hi ladies, there is a November 2019 thread now! That’s crazy!

@paul nice analogy! @roller you’ll be absolutely fine xx

rollerskaterdata · 22/02/2019 21:57

Thank you for the reassurance ladies, I really appreciate it. I understand some women have one or two during pregnancy which is totally their choice and I'm not judgemental, I just decided not to and I'm also a total lightweight so worried any little amount would have a bigger effect! I've calmed down now and baby is still moving nicely.

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut I didn't take it the wrong way at all, it's honestly nice to have someone who understands. And probably why I freaked out so much about the Buck's Fizz because my anxiety is already through the roof. Talking therapy is helping but honestly just getting to 37 weeks will be even better!

fee1234 · 23/02/2019 08:52

I've noticed when I tense my stomach muscles lying down or do a sit up motion to get up, my bump goes into a funny cone shape, like a ridge running down the middle of my stomach 😦 googled it and it sounds like my stomach muscles have separated. Anyone had this? Hope it goes back to normal after birth.

Reastie · 23/02/2019 08:59

Fee I don’t think my stomach muscles were ever strong enough to notice this 😂

Heyha · 23/02/2019 09:02

Oh I noticed this in the bath too @fee1234 I had good strong abs and a flat stomach before I got pregnant (soon stopped doing all the grunt work that gave me the abs in the first place so that's long gone) so wonder if it's because of that. I hadn't thought of it as a problem as such although it does look weird!

fee1234 · 23/02/2019 11:40

@Heyha yeah I had a similar shape pre pregnancy, apparently it's not a serious issue but still so weird to see!

Holly257 · 23/02/2019 13:33

A random question for you all this is baby number 3 for me now I never had anything like this with my other 2 pregnancies but is anyone else loosing their mucus plug? I know it can replenish itself but it's just the fact that I've never experienced it before! I lost my mucus plug at 40 weeks with my second born but never had it going this early I've read somewhere it's your cervix shortening and becoming softer not had any pains really so not that concerned baby's moving as normal so again not to worried about that I was debating calling the hospital to see what they say but having 2 small boys at home and no one to watch them I don't want to go in if it's nothing xx

Bigonesmallone3 · 23/02/2019 14:59

I'm on my third too and actually posted on this thread the other day about losing my plug..
As long as it's not bloody there is nothing to worry about
