Sadly no contact details for my foundation so willmhave to write an old fashioned letter!

Fabuluce · 21/02/2019 15:49

@WeeBean FYI my local hospital absolutely will not give you a CS for anything other than a medical reason so would direct you to another hospital instead so that is also something to consider. I think someone on here did do something similar in a previous pregnancy? I know I bang on about hypnobirthing but it really does make a difference to how you feel mentally in the approach to birth. All the women in my group were scared of delivery to greater or lesser extents and by the end of the course were really positive about the oncoming delivery and meeting their baby. Or could you research a counsellor/hypnotherapist who could help you with how you feel about it? We're doing something similar to hypnobirthing but with an individual hypnotherapist, called Confident Childbirth, who we know rather than a hypnobirthing class. Could something like that may be helpful?

annihall · 21/02/2019 17:45

Hey sorry can't really say much to elective CS and got something a bit off topic but I hope it's ok to post now...

Every now and then I'm feeling quite a lot of pressure down there and it kind of feels to me as if the baby is pushing down and going to 'fall out'. I know that's obviously not going to happen but that feeling worries me... I don't know if I'm just being paranoid as a first time mum and that's completely normal or if it's something I should call the midwife about? It feels not a big enough issue as it's not painful or anything but just worries me every time it happens. Has anyone else got that feeling of the baby lying really low and pushing out?

Reastie · 21/02/2019 17:54

Anni I remember with dd I definitely had that feeling like she would fall out. It reallly made me think she actually would fall out (althohgh I know logically it wouldn’t happen —if only birth were that easy— ). It got more obvious and frequent as time went on. I haven’t felt it yet this time.

fee1234 · 21/02/2019 19:06

@annihall I feel that sometimes, when he lies a certain way and kicks it sometimes feels like it's in my actual vagina, as if I put my fingers up there i'd feel his foot.

annihall · 21/02/2019 19:27

@fee1234 @Reastie I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this 🙈

coastergirl · 21/02/2019 22:16

@annihall I'm getting that a lot, and didn't have it with my little boy. It's making me worry that this one might come early!

@WeeBean I had an ELCS with my first. I'd been seeing the mental health midwife throughout and had awful antenatal depression and a lifelong massive fear of childbirth. I went to a consultant appointment armed with a massive list of all the things that terrify me about a vaginal birth. They talked me through each item on the list and they saw that I knew my stuff about the risks. I think it also helped that I had GD and would have needed induction, which really increases the risks of intervention being needed. They agreed to the section surprisingly easily tbh. Good luck! I've already asked for one this time. Going to vbac clinic to discuss the options was mentioned, but the most recent person I saw asked me if there was any point. I said no as I'm sure what I want, and she said that was fine and noted down that I'd declined the clinic.

Bigonesmallone3 · 21/02/2019 22:24

I'm already having braxton hics.
We had sex the other day, it was really painful if it went to deep 🤦‍♀️ (soz guys)
And he said he felt as though he was hitting something, for the next two days I was losing my plug!
It was clear/cloudy and no blood so I wasn't worried but it did get my brain ticking!
I just have a feeling baby could be early I don't know why!

mummysuz · 22/02/2019 07:25

Anyone else on here had issues with flight attendants whilst pregnant?
DH and I are on a holiday in Dubai and I was asked twice at the airport and on the plane if I was pregnant. I'm only 22 weeks and although I'm showing it's not a huge bump.
First lady was a bit funny about me being pregnant so DH told me to lie to anyone else who asks, the second air stewardess was absolutely mortified when I said I wasn't pregnant which made me feel really guilty!!! We are flying back in a few days and I'm already stressing about what to wear so I can hide my bump which seems silly.
I'm pretty certain I can fly without a medical note until 28 weeks or so right?

mummysuz · 22/02/2019 07:26

Also, I've just started feeling the baby move, I've got an anterior placenta so wasn't sure when I would feel him. It's so exciting!

Fabuluce · 22/02/2019 07:53

I think they probably like to know in case you have any problems while on board. They're not saying you can't fly but they do need to know if their passengers may have special requirements at some point.

mummysuz · 22/02/2019 07:56

That makes sense. Think I'll just let them know if they ask again. DH had visions of us being thrown off the plane! But dramatic but wanted to keep him happy!

Blondcat · 22/02/2019 07:59

@mummysuz you are fine to fly with most airlines up to 28 weeks without a letter. I found the flight attendants very helpful when I flew last month but was only 18/19 weeks so really not much of a bump and only a 4 hour flight so not sure if that made a difference but I asked about free seats so I didn't have to keep getting the person next to me to move for my frequent loo trips.
I say try not to stress about it enjoy the last few days of your trip and if they start getting funny offer to show them your notes which prove you are under the 28 week mark with no medical reason why your can't fly.
Exciting about the movements.

mummysuz · 22/02/2019 08:19

Thanks @Blondcat good idea about the notes. Haven't got them with me but have a few pictures and emails with bits and pieces I could show them to prove all is well.
I was quite excited to be asked if I was pregnant tbh as I haven't had anyone ask me before but when DH started stressing I worried too. First pregnancy, so it's all very new to us both.

Heyha · 22/02/2019 09:03

I was going to ask, as it happens, realistically when do people start carrying their notes with them routinely? I haven't been but thinking viability week might be a good time to start?

My DP has been away for a week when he came back he said he didn't think the bump had grown and that my boobs look smaller...filled me with joy! Baby as busy as ever though so will see what colleagues reckon on Monday when it's back to school!

rollerskaterdata · 22/02/2019 09:33

@Heyha I started carrying mine around after about 30 or so weeks last time, but only if I was going out of town. If I was staying locally I didn't bother as I could always nip home and get them if needed

Pigriver · 22/02/2019 09:59

My notes live in the car so if I ever did need to go to hospital they’d be ready. My TA was pregnant last year and realised babyhadnt moved all day. She rang the ward and they told her to go in. We was understandably worried but had to drive 30 mins in the opposite direction home to get her notes. A worry she could have done without.

Torsz · 22/02/2019 10:03

@Heyha I've not carried my notes at all, but I went away for a weekend at 24 weeks and ended up going to a&e as I didn't feel movement for a couple of days - they said I should always take my notes if I'm away from home. Off to Edinburgh this evening for the weekend so my notes are packed!
Not sure when I'll start actually taking them everywhere with me - maybe 30 weeks x

WeeBean · 22/02/2019 10:16

Thanks for your replies @Fabuluce and @coastergirl. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do hypnobirthing either way, my first antenatal class was all about breathing to de-stress and we did a 5 minute meditation.

Coastergirl I'm encouraged by the fact you got an ELCS for your first. I mentioned my low moods at my 12 week appointment and they noted it and recommended a mental health session for mums at the hospital but it's during the working day and seemed to be more of a group thing than one to one. I've a list of things that scare me about VB so I'll put them down on paper for my next appointment.

CrazyCowLady · 22/02/2019 10:23

Just catching up (you lot are mega chatty!! It's great!!) and thinking about holidays. We go to Canary Islands in a week and wondering what to wear bather/bikini wise. I haven't worn a bikini since I was about 4 years old, but now thinking about it (being preggo has given me a nice boost of body confidence!)

So- stupid question alert- If I am going to wear a bikini, do I just buy my regular size?! Or do I need a special maternity one? I think I need a regular one, as its just my bump that needs maternity clothes, right?! Kind of dreading going bikini shopping but it has to be done...

Also @annihall- sounds like a normal feeling. I've been getting it too, which mostly makes me think I need to poop. I think I've currently got about 2kg of extra weight resting on my pelvic floor (put on +3 kg, hoping I am just 1kg of that!!) which would explain the 'pressure'. And a baby who like to use my bladder as a punch bag. As long as your not having contractions/waters broke/ bleeding/ feeling unwell with it, its generally fine, but you can always ring your MW to check too!

Blondcat · 22/02/2019 10:50

Woo hoo viability day reached today Smile.

Kescilly · 22/02/2019 10:55

Congrats Blondcat!

I just spoke with the physio department and I have an appointment, but it’s about 2.5 weeks away. Any suggestions on what to do in the meantime? My hip hurts so much when I wake up in the morning, it’s difficult to even walk for a few hours.

Reastie · 22/02/2019 10:57

Coaster that’s reqlly useful your mw has allowed you to bypass the vbac clinic. I’ve been told I need to go but I have done a lot of research and I know elcs is what I want. I might ask if I can refuse this as there’s absolutely no point and it’ll be a waste of time for everyone.

Mummy I’m pretty certain you can fly until a few week s before date, certainly yes in second trimester. I personally wouldn’t lie in that situ as if anything goes wrong I would think they will look after you as a priority.

Crazy cow I have no idea about bikini but I’d think to get a maternity one. My boobs have practically doubled in size from pre and the bottoms might dig in and be a bit uncomfortable. Are you wearing your usual underwear? I’d guess that’s a good gauge of size and whether you’d need maternity.

Reastie · 22/02/2019 10:59

Kescilly are you doing things like sleeping with a pillow between your legs? My mw recommended a serola support belt thing.

WeeBean · 22/02/2019 11:12

Congrats @Blondcat!

@CrazyCowLady I know it's a pain but maybe worth going and trying on? You want to be comfy while you're away. I bought a tankini (sp?) in the Mothercare sale for hen do at a spa next month. Couldn't be bothered with the faff of a one piece suit atm with the constant need to pee lol Have a fantastic time!

@Kescilly no real advice just wanted to empathise with you! It's not nice, I've doing the pillow between the knees thing and it does help a bit, though I wake every time I turn 🙄 Hope the physio helps!
