Aw that's lovely @naps. I think mine just has restless legs....

Keep us posted @stellarfox hopefully it's just a growth spurt

SassehMonsta · 13/02/2019 10:07

Hiccups is great, but not at 3:40am naps! ;)

After backache yesterday, all the kicks and things are more vicious, so I think he was slowly moving position.

Had bloods taken on Monday to check for too much iron in the blood.... Dr called and prescribed me iron tablets, so obviously not an issue!!!

Fabuluce · 13/02/2019 13:00

Ahh @Napssavelives that's lovely! I don't remember DS ever getting hiccups last time - will keep an eye out with this one. Is it bad I really can't remember if I had an anterior placenta last time? The movements are so different this time I feel sure I must have done but I've got such a blank on it...

toomanyflatwhites · 13/02/2019 13:01

Hope all of the niggles are feeling better now, I think my cold might be SLOWLY finally improving, last night I didn't wake up every hour because I couldn't breathe so that's progress!
Have got a small dilemma - I was considering forming out the megabucks for an Elvie breastpump - £249 but it's meant to be amazing (and silent/wearable/cordless). My friend has one and was telling me how great it is, and now a few Instagram people I follow have reviewed it and one (theyesmum) has for a 15% discount code. That makes it £211 which is still a bit ouch but a decent discount - but am I sure I want one? And if so do I need to buy it so soon?? The code is only valid for 48 hours so need to decide...
I never got on so well with pumping for DD but that might be because I had a manual pump (which I got milk from when I could be bothered) and a second hand medela which I think didn't have much power left (perhaps was older than the seller let on). So who even knows if it will work for me...

stellarfox · 13/02/2019 13:37

I ended up meeting my named midwife today and she was really nice! (I’ve seen two other midwifes before now) She wasn’t majorly concerned but she has sent off urine as she thought I poss have a urine infection. We ended up doing my 25 week appointment as it was going to be Monday anyway!

I forgot to say I tried a pregnancy yoga class and it was great. It was a lot more physical than I thought it would be but it was a lot of discussion first too which was really nice. Those of you that aren’t doing NCT it might be worth doing a yoga class to meet people aside, from its other benefits!

@toomany I like the idea of a pump but I think I’ll buy after the birth of baby if we want one. It’s quite expensive but if it’s something you think you’ll value it might be worth it!

Fabuluce · 13/02/2019 15:00

@toomanyflatwhites I'm having exactly the same dilemma - I just don't know what to do for the best!

toomanyflatwhites · 13/02/2019 15:07

@Fabuluce with the Elvie as well? My friend had already said I could try hers once the baby arrives to see if I want one but now I'm wondering if I just go for it! I was so crap with pumping last time (possibly because DD was constantly feeding!) but didn't get the medela until I went back to work and just couldn't get enough out to bother with it apart from on days when we were apart. Just wonder if the convenience of this one means I would actually use it (perhaps pump on one side while feeding on the other).

Glad midwife was nice @stellarfox and that you're enjoying the yoga! There don't seem to be any classes I can get to as they are all during the daytime (mid morning...) which is annoying. Didn't bother me last pregnancy as I kept up my previous yoga practice with modifications at least 3 times a week but this time I've done almost nothing!!

Fabuluce · 13/02/2019 15:31

I do really want to express so that DH can give the baby an evening feed so I can get a few hours shut eye. DS was such a terrible sleeper I think it's probably best to prepare for the worst again.

Fabuluce · 13/02/2019 15:32

Yes the Elvie too and yes I was a crap expresser last time due to DS constantly feeding!

Pigriver · 13/02/2019 16:22

@toomanyflatwhites
What about a haakaa or similar? You can get generic ones for £5. Basically its a silicone suction cup with bottle and it’s designed so you can attach to your other side while feeding. No pumping, handles or noise just gently syphoning off. They get lots of great reviews and I’ve ordered one. People seem to get a few ounces per feed which should build up a wee stash for a feed a day if you want Dh to do one.

2countries1bump · 13/02/2019 17:01

I was very tempted by the Elvie but all the reviews I read said it leaked badly - I wonder if they've improved it?

Changingagain · 13/02/2019 18:47

I like the look of that Haakaa. With ds I used to leak so much from the other breast during morning feeds that breast pads + muslins couldn't hold it. I got the medela collection shells so ot wasn't all wasted but they didn't hold enough and would leak. Just using those on morning feeds allowed me to freeze plenty for occasional bottles though.

CrazyCowLady · 13/02/2019 19:03

Just having a good catch up! Glad scans are going well (except for the wriggly/ uncooperative babies!), rubbish about GD/ colds/ general crappy pregnancy feelings. Hope you guys are all taking care of yourselves.

I've just passed 23 weeks, and waiting for viability day too. I have started to settle down and enjoy pregnancy, but still having that 'I'll be happy at the next milestone' thing. The milestone comes, and I'm glad, but then always waiting for the next one again...

Re quilts and crafting- I have half a plan in my head of making a quilt (first time), but give out the squares to friends and family and let them design one, then stitch them all together. I don't want a baby shower but know other people will want to do 'something'. I'm hoping this will be enough for them?! And I get to practice quilting too!

I've knitted a pair of boots, and might try a cardigan in the next few weeks, if I can make sense of the instructions!!

rollerskaterdata · 13/02/2019 20:32

@stellarfox glad you've had the appointment and they're doing something proactive to check everything is fine. I have my 25 week appointment tomorrow and I'm just hoping my blood pressure is still behaving itself!

toomanyflatwhites · 13/02/2019 21:01

@Pigriver I had actually put the haakaa style one on my to-buy list, but I don't think I had a very fast letdown with DD so not sure if it would do much (though of course is very inexpensive to try!).
DP is all for me getting the spendy pump so think I'm going to go for it! @2countries1bump not sure if you're on Instagram but theyesmum reviewed it a few days ago (and has got the discount), she addressed that and said she hadn't had any leaks. I think it might be a 2nd generation one

Also I just need to have a little moan - I came home from work an hour early as I was feeling progressively more weird this afternoon, feeling a bit sick and really achy and just started to get worried what was going on. I slept for about 45mins until DP got back with DD but then she was being super hard work, crying and demanding all sorts and instead of dealing with her he stayed downstairs while she cried in my face and eventually I had to get out of bed to take her downstairs for dinner (and put away shopping, did the inevitable grim potty-training-laundry (because DP is seemingly incapable) AND I cleaned up the kitchen, all while running a fever and feeling shit. If he feels crap he just lays on the sofa and gets waited on, but oh not that's not possible for me is it?! And although he is doing bedtime he then let her run completely wild for ages while he lay down instead of getting strict and getting her to bed so I had to get her sorted before he then read her stories. Sorry for the rant but - grrrrrrrrr!!!

BethlBuck · 13/02/2019 22:48

Hey!

I posted waaay back in thread 3 but life has happened since then! For info:

I'm due on the 28th June (although that is 100% wrong since the hubby was working away at what that would have make our conception date) so I'm saying more like the 19th...

Age (at due date): 24
Predicted sex of baby: Girl!!
Location (NHS Trust): Nottingham

I've been feeling so much better since abour 18 weeks so now am really enjoying pregnancy 75% of the time. I've got a proper bump now and she's moving around and kicking loads which I just love! Gettign horrible leg cramps and indigestion and struggling sleeping but it all feels worth it now.

My hubs is so so excited now, has painted all the nursery and we got all our furniture this week :) I just want her to be here now, definitely excited for my viability date.

It's crazy we're all over half way through now!

Changingagain · 14/02/2019 05:58

toomanyflatwhites I feel you. My dh is exactly the same with illnesses. If he's ill, he's on his deathbed and can't do anything. If I'm ill, I just have to carry on as normal. Generally the two cross over though so I end up having to do extra while feeling shit, and he wonders why I get pissed off.

Fabuluce · 14/02/2019 07:26

@toomanyflatwhites I hear you! Tis rubbish. I've pretty much downed tools this time and thankfully Wednesdays are my DS's full nursery day so I had a duvet day on the sofa and DH joined me as he's been poorly too. I of course did the dinner (freezer surprise) and washed up etc but he is finally understanding that it needs to be teamwork and he did bathtime and we do bed together. It took us a looong time to get to a happy medium on bath and bedtime though so it's all a work in progress.

toasterstrudle · 14/02/2019 07:44

@toomanyflatwhites I know exactly what you mean!! My DH seems to be ill every single time I am and needs to take to his bed. It drives me mad!!! Last time I paid for our son to have an extra day in nursery and treated myself to a sofa day, DH didn't dare complain as he'd been in bed and hardly offering to help out. They just don't get how knackering being pregnant is!!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 14/02/2019 09:18

A quick question: are all trusts meant to test for gestational diabetes and if so when?

I am a big consumer of sugar anyway but after a frankly unbelievable week (3rd time we have accepted an offer on the sale of our house = 3rd time it’s fallen through) and I’m existing on crunchies and fruit pastilles.

Plus the nausea is really fucking with me so I’m back on the Super Noodles diet for now.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 14/02/2019 09:33

I seem to have stopped get notifications for this thread and now have hundreds of posts to read through! Exhaustion is back so been asleep at 9 after DS is down.
Paul Hollywood I have never been checked for it. I think in my area they only check if there is something in your history or blood results, or if I called up and had relevant symptoms.

toomanyflatwhites · 14/02/2019 09:33

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut as I tucked into yet more sugar yesterday I suddenly wondered similar...I have a feeling they only test if you have a certain BMI or other risk factors, or are measuring big, but haven't actually looked it up (will do that now!). And how fucking unbelievably stressful about the house, I don't blame you - have you got somewhere lined up? We are going to see the bank today to talk mortgages (currently DP owns the flat we live in and I own one I rent out) but nothing is going to happen before this baby comes whatever we decide we want to do...

KoalasAteMyHomework · 14/02/2019 09:34

What I mean to say is that I don't think they test it as standard. And my trust seems to run every test under the sun haha!

coastergirl · 14/02/2019 09:48

Re testing for GD: there are NICE guidelines about who should be tested, but not all trusts follow them! In my last pregnancy, the guidelines stated anyone with a BMI over 30 should be tested. Mine was 33 at the time, but my trust had a policy of only testing over 35. I had a scan at 34 weeks to check the position of my placenta and they found baby's tummy was measuring large, but not massive. I was under the one to one midwives service, and my midwife had attended the appointment with me. She asked the consultant why they weren't testing me according to the NICE guidelines and based on the scan, but they still said it wasn't needed. Midwife wanted to test me herself, and I tested positive. Very scary that it was almost missed. I think my BMI is lower this time, but I'm tested at 16 and 28 weeks as standard because I had it last time. So far, so good.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 14/02/2019 09:51

Thank you Koalas

I think as my BMI is 26 so just just under overweight I might ask if they can GTT me. I shit ye not, I opened up four bags of sweets in a day yesterday. FOUR.

Plus pop and sauces and breads and pastas....hmm. Just this moment remembered i have the midwife tomorrow so will flag.

@toomanyflatwhites

Thank you for understanding. I am so mentally conflicted as I feel actually heartbroken. But all is well with the baby, we are feeling all well enough again plus it’s not like we live in the ghetto.

We had such clear plans that look like they would come off and would also equal a ready made well known support network for when this one is born. It would have been amazing. Alas we won’t manage to move now this side of June and I don’t believe the house will get an offer again until all the Brexit kerfuffle dies down.

I’m just BITTERLY disappointed and the estate agent is beside himself as this is apparently an unheard of situation (allegedly)
