I'm glad the other scans have gone well today too, though evacuating mid scan sounds a bit crazy Grin

Our little girl feels like she's having a party tonight after so little movement recently.

fee1234 · 04/02/2019 21:20

I'm another one struggling with boy names! Every one I suggest my DP is like 'no I didn't like X at school' etc 🙄

CrazyCowLady · 04/02/2019 22:18

@HoneyPea - @PeachPotato is totally right. I also have a low lying placenta and have known loads of women (from previously working as a midwife) who has have it and placentas normally totally moved by 34 weeks. Your uterus grows a bit like a balloon and if you were to stick something to the lower part of the ballon (near the end aka cervix!) whilst it was a bit inflated, then inflate it some more, the thing would move up a bit and not be near the end bit any more. I think the stats are a bit more than 9 out of 10 placentas move out the way. Saying that, mine will probably stay where it is and ELCS for me...!!!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 04/02/2019 22:32

@HoneyPea I think the other posters have covered it and hopefully reassured you. My friend had this with her second baby and all was fine by the next scan. Most of the time things move and it isn't an issue.

mrshadders · 04/02/2019 22:32

Hi all! I've only just found this thread how lovely. Due 24th June, had our 20 week scan today which was so lovely. Didn't find out the gender as I need the surprise!
What's everyone bought so far?

toomanyflatwhites · 04/02/2019 23:06

The low lying placenta - the sonographer at my 12 week scan mentioned it, so I asked at my 20 week. The lady this time made a big thing of showing me that not only was it not low, but also explained at length - as @CrazyCowLady has done - how often it moves up, and said that it should never have been mentioned at that point as it's so early/so likely to move!

Who else has been told they have an anterior placenta? And how are you doing on movements now? I'm 21.5 weeks and hadn't been feeling much at all (whereas DD was like having a belly full of snakes...) but this evening laying down bedtime reading stories I could definitely feel movement. It feels much more subtle and I'm wondering if it will get stronger as the weeks go by or still likely to stay kind of muted/cushioned if that makes sense? Interested to hear how it is for anyone else (or was in a previous pregnancy).

Bigonesmallone3 · 04/02/2019 23:13

I have an anterior placenta.. I'm 20+2 and sooo many movements now and getting strong..
I have my scan tomorrow so il find out if it is still anterior..
I'm sure it can move??

Heyha · 05/02/2019 04:25

I assumed mine was posterior because I've felt movement quite well but turns out it's anterior and must be on the lower end of things because she had to check exactly where it finished, so could be luck of the draw! Seems that baby likes to lie transverse at the moment which ties in with me feeling a lot of movement at the edges!

coastergirl · 05/02/2019 07:11

@HoneyPea just adding that I also had a low-lying placenta last time and was scanned again at 34 weeks. It had moved plenty. Bonus was also that they spotted my boy had a big belly, which was the start of them diagnosing my GD. Scary that it could have been missed.

I've got my scan this morning and I'm just so nervous. I'm sure he is lying with his feet low down though because I'm getting movement very low.

toomanyflatwhites · 05/02/2019 07:22

@coastergirl good luck for today, hope you don't have too long a wait!
@Bigonesmallone3 I looked up whether it can move and found 2 baby websites giving completely contradictory information - so I'm none the wiser!

Jodidum · 05/02/2019 07:53

@toomanyflatwhites I've an anterior placenta too apparently and am at 21 +5 and just feeling wee flutters. I'm also in the bigger side tho so she's got more cushioning to contend with! this is my first so I've nothing to actually compare it too but she was wriggling around just fine at our 20 week scan so I think that's given me some reassurance!

Pigriver · 05/02/2019 08:12

Mine is anterior but towards the top. I have been feeling low down movements for about a week (since 19 weeks). I think it was the same with my son. All movements were very low down.

Heebyjeeby99 · 05/02/2019 08:20

@toomanyflatwhites anterior here too. Nothing so far on the movement front. I'm 22 weeks today...I've felt the odd twitch or muscle spasm but it's so slight it could just be digestion or wind.

A new thing for me in the last week is nausea...haven't had any the whole pregnancy then suddenly the last few train journeys to work (I commute to London) have been awful. Haven't been able to sit in my seat but have to keep getting up and walking up and down the carriage. Feel faint and nauseous but haven't been sick, especially if I try to read a book. I still don't look pregnant so god knows what people on the train are thinking. Weird that it's just my journey in, I'm fine coming home. Isn't it a bit late for morning sickness?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 05/02/2019 10:03

Oh my god @Heebyjeeby99

Your second paragraph... that’s virtually what I came on here to post!

My coping tactic is kind of huffing and puffing; as I don’t have a visible bump but am definitely “stocky” now I probably resemble an angry bullfrog in tights

Heebyjeeby99 · 05/02/2019 10:38

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut 'an angry bullfrog in tights' is a brilliant description of how I look and feel right now!!! So have you only just started getting nausea too? Or did you have it in the first trimester? I'm fine the rest of the day, it's just the train in the morning....very bizarre!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 05/02/2019 10:55

@Heebyjeeby99

I had nausea from weeks 8-18 and now back again in the last week. I’m 22weeks ffs! WHERE IS MY GLOW?

Heebyjeeby99 · 05/02/2019 10:57

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut you poor poor thing. I remember wanting it in my first trimester so I knew the pregnancy was progressing, but now I've experienced it....no thanks! Absolutely zero glow this end too....

All this stuff about thick hair and pregnancy glow. None of it, I've never looked worse!

Bigonesmallone3 · 05/02/2019 10:59

I want to know where this so called 'glow' is also..
False advertising

PeachPotato · 05/02/2019 11:15

@heebyjeeby99 seems like the ideal time to don a "baby on board" badge! I still get that sick feeling if I get too hot / stuffy.

Heebyjeeby99 · 05/02/2019 11:18

@PeachPotato I've just ordered one!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 05/02/2019 11:57

Anterior here too. I didn't feel anything til 21 weeks and now its proper kicks. Mad that it went from nothing at all to such strong movement.

@Heebyjeeby99 I had that with DS1. I could sit on the train at least but definitely had to stop reading and by the time I got off the train I felt awful. No glow this time round and certainly not with DS either. I had nausea from 6 weeks to about 18 weeks and then got it back later in the second trimester. Sorry!

coastergirl · 05/02/2019 12:02

Absolutely no glow here either!

My scan was all good. I had the same lovely lady as last time. Baby was very well behaved (she said the best so far today) and she was able to do all the measurements. Also good job we already know it was a boy as he was waving his willy around as you can see! He's got his head right down pushed on my bladder, so the kicks I thought I was feeling are probably punches.

Kescilly · 05/02/2019 12:08

Congrats on the scan @coastergirl!

I felt pretty glowy until I got sick. By the time I recover, I’m going to be huge and uncomfortable. All in all I shouldn’t complain, I’ve found pregnancy much better than I expected. I’ve actually already thought about how I’d like to do it again! Shock

CrazyCowLady · 05/02/2019 12:18

Wow, so many anterior placentas! I wonder if there was 'something in the air' when these babes were being made to make them anterior?!

Congrats @coastergirl and all others with scans!

toomanyflatwhites · 05/02/2019 12:23

Haha @CrazyCowLady is that a thing?! (Just kidding...) - but do you have any insight as to whether it moves later?
Glad the scan went well @coastergirl! And I can't believe any of you with a London commute don't already have a baby on board badge (though I know they get a bad rap on MN...) - I didn't really need it until a few weeks ago but now am mega grateful for it as I cross central London at rush hour twice a day!
As for the glow...I've mostly just been snotty, and coughing, and now I'm also spotty (DD who is 2.5 said "mummy what did you do to your face?"). Other than that I do generally feel ok now I've spunked £120 in 2 weeks on osteopath treatments so I know I don't have much to complain about - though it WOULD be nice if DD wasn't waking me up twice a night demanding I co-sleep with her Hmm
