Hey girls well I had my sweep at 1:30 and I was already 2cm I've had loads of cramping since and what I think are contractions every 5-10 minutes nothing regular as such, but I do have to hold my breath when I get one, they are quite painful
I've had a bloody show too and pinky discharge
Just hoping it's not gonna tail off or take days & days

December2018 · 22/12/2018 20:14

@0lgaDaPolga 😍😍😍😍 he is just beautiful!!

Athers666 · 22/12/2018 20:32

@december2018 sounds like you'll have your little one pretty soon! Best of luck x

emwithme · 22/12/2018 20:34

God I feel so much better for having had a shower and a decent sleep. I am sitting here looking at my beautiful girl in her Moses basket and she's just stirring awake. I know I'm probably going to be holding her and nursing for the next 6 hours but I don't care.

It's amazing what some sleep can do for one's mental state!

Athers666 · 22/12/2018 20:54

Oh @Olgadapolga he is just adorable! Glad he's doing so well!
I'm staying at the hospital another night as they want to just keep and eye on Casper, he's doing well but has slightly elevated heart rate which they think is a result of the bit of trouble we had at the end of labour.
I am loving just snuggling and taking him all in even though I'm exhausted and so sore!

balalalala · 22/12/2018 21:24

Congratulations @Athers666 he's beautiful!

Athers666 · 22/12/2018 22:14

Aw thanks!

marthvader · 23/12/2018 09:44

Congratulations to all the mummies on their recent births!

Meet our new arrival, still nameless, but we think we may settle on Louis Joseph. Born yesterday at 07:01am.

Had a pretty 'normal' labour throughout Friday night so went to hospital when contractions were regular and strong and was told I was 3cm so they were gonna send me home. But whilst checking dilation she did a sweep and within 20 mins I'd gone from 3cm to 9cm so was rushed to labour ward and had him 40 mins later so a bit manic towards the end! Only had time for 2 breaths of gas and air! Nice relaxing pool birth went out the window!

Running on about 2 hours sleep since Friday morning when my waters broke so feeling pretty fragile but it's all worth it!

Good luck anybody still left!!

0lgaDaPolga · 23/12/2018 17:08

Congrats @marthavader! That sounds similar to my very quick labour too. Lovely photo, he is beautiful 😍 hope you’re recovering well

AGirlinLondon · 23/12/2018 18:18

Hey @emwithme, I could have written your post. On Thursday I was at breaking point. My midwife encouraged me to give a formula top up once a day so I could get some rest (my baby is a monster baby and taking 180ml every feed). That plus my DH sacrificing some sleep has made all the difference. Hang in there, feed without guilt however you’re doing it. Get your rest. X

AGirlinLondon · 23/12/2018 18:18

Congrats @marth! I hope west mids looked after you well. I swear they don’t even have a birth pool there, no one bloody makes it! 😂

MagicalCreatures · 24/12/2018 07:54

@marthvader congratulations hun!!! He’s a little cutie. Pleased everything went well though. And you have your little one in time for Xmas day. X

Happy Christmas moms. I'm still going strong 4 days overdue now xx

Athers666 · 25/12/2018 16:45

Happy Christmas all! Having a newborn is so tough! Love him to bits but so many tears, both DH and I! Such an emotional rollercoaster.

MagicalCreatures · 25/12/2018 16:57

@Athers666 Oh really hun. Why’s that? X

Merry Christmas to all you beautiful mommas to be and beautiful babies! They are all such wonderful little treasures!

Oliver-James was born on the 23rd December at 17:11 weighing 7lbs 14 and he is my absolute world!
Very traumatic labour, his cord was wrapped round his neck 4 times and ended up emergency forceps delivery, but I'd do it all again in a heartbeat

@Athers666 I'm also finding it very hard babe he's not a good sleeper at all and only sleeps on us so where having to sleep in shifts while the other minds Oliver
It was our first night home last night and I struggled but there is no rule book and my midwife said today that sometimes you have to just go with the flow, the first couple of days/weeks can be the hardest to adjust and get into a routine but it works itself out in the end xxx

Roomarmoset · 25/12/2018 22:10

Merry Christmas all new mums and mums to be. Had a lovely day although I'm so tired I might forget it come tomorrow 🙈
Midwife came to see me and was horrified that I was allowed home without being stitched, I'm now on extremely strong antibiotics for a nasty infection down below. This is all hard enough as it is and I'm now I'm so much pain but every time I look at my little miracle it makes it worth it.

I'm also struggling with her not going to sleep unless she's on someone, so difficult!

Hope everyone is getting on okay x x

Athers666 · 25/12/2018 23:31

@December2018 Oh I am so so glad to see your post! Wohoo! Congratulations! Your labour sounds like it was frightening but so great that he's here safe and sound.
Sounds awful to say but it's a relief to me that others are struggling with the baby only settling when held, I wouldn't wish it upon anyone lol but nice to know we're not the only ones with this problem!
@MagicalCreatures Oh just the emotions of it all bringing on the tears really. DH is so happy but also exhausted and scared he'll mess up which is making him as weepy as me! But we are slowly getting there and I feel so supported by him as he was so great during labour even when I threw up all over him!
Have managed the post birth poop after having to be cut and have stitches. So relieved! Probably best I don't do a Facebook status about it though🤣

MagicalCreatures · 25/12/2018 23:41

@December2018 oh wow congratulations sweetie!!! I just knew you’d had to have had him as you hadn’t been on here for a couple of days. Sounds very scary but thankfully he’s here safe and sound.

So sorry to hear how some of you are struggling with the sleeping arrangements. It does seem to be very common though so I hope you all realise just how amazing you’re all doing already.

The stitches chat is starting to scare me a little 😳 hearing you all talk about the births and babies is making it all very real for me. I’m beginning to think about how painful this is all going to be.
On the up side, I have avoided a Xmas day baby which was a something that was playing on my mind. I’ve always said it doesn’t matter as long as he makes it here safe but I didn’t want him to have a crappy birth date for his entire life. X

Oh @December2018 that sounds so scary! Forceps aren't pleasant, I had them with my first and I really hope you're getting the chance to sit comfortably (when you can - as you say, sometimes you just have to go with the flow of what baby wants to do!). Also his hair is incredible and I'm quite jealous!

@MagicalCreatures I'm sure it's not too long until your little one makes an appearance. Don't be too scared about stitches etc would be my thoughts... I'm now day 6 post section and honestly it's not been as bad as I thought it would. I had an ugly labour and birth with my first including many stitches and it's a funny thing, the pain is definitely there but it's pale in comparison to the baby (and I say this as someone who is NOT a mushy 'oh childbirth is wonderful' woman!)

balalalala · 26/12/2018 19:33

Congratulations! I too had lots of stitches first time round and had a fair few this time but you heal! Thoughts to you guys in the very early days and working through the sleep situation!

December2018 · 27/12/2018 10:19

How do you ladies cope with the sore boobs after birth?
My milk has just come in and I'm in agony!! They're so sore... specially with baby Ollie being a chest sleeper
I got quite teary last night just coping with the pain... and I'm usually quite good at tolerating pain but this is something else
Thanks ladies xxx

Have we had any more new arrivals yet?

December2018 · 27/12/2018 10:21

I'm not breastfeeding by the way he's on formula.... do I just have to wait for things to dry up?
