Just been to EPU because of brown bleeding at lunchtime and history of MC/propensity to worry. They were lovely.

All is well and measuring exactly 9w, as supposed to. Was able to not only see the baby but its arms and teeny tiny dot fingers 😍. Just hanging around, fluttering gently. Also saw a cord and a placenta, all measuring fine. Heartbeat 179. Doctor said baby looks v happy and bleeding would have been the placenta kicking in. Really quite amazing to see a dot and ring turn into a baby shaped wriggler. Wow.

TwinkleDay · 05/12/2018 18:38

Yay more good news.. how long did it take you all to be referred for you 12 week scan? I went Friday and sti waiting for my letter in the post, constantly on post watch even from work..

And I’m off dick too it’s been too long .... lol

Ah @stargazydrifter what lovely news! Can't believe the scan was so clear to see tiny fingers! I feel all warm and fuzzy now 😍

GiGi18 · 05/12/2018 18:43

Great news @StargazyDrifter!

All this off dick chat is cracking me up 😂 We've only DTD once since BFP because DH is scared to, although he did say this morning he thinks it's time we get back to normal, thank god!

Onestep2 · 05/12/2018 18:56

@starGazyDrifter fab news about scan!

The 94 years meme made me LOL

Me and DH have pretty much resumed normal DTD activities. More morning sex rather than night coz am too tired and cannot be fucked at night after a full day working. 😂😂

I can remember who said it but apparently the baby feels happy after a female orgasm 😂😂😂

Kentishgal · 05/12/2018 19:22

Amazing news Stargazydrifter - so pleased for you. I think I said it before but it was bad enough trying to find the time / energy to do it when we were trying to conceive..let alone now! Last time was when we conceived and I fully expect it will stay that way until they're born! 😂 seriously though - I'm way to knackered and poorly feeling, and after the spotting I'm too scared to disturb anything down there!

StargazyDrifter · 05/12/2018 19:28

The dot fingers and toes took a bit of explaining, and the doctor somehow put the resolution/contrast up really high so they came out whiter than the other bits and easier to make out. It was a transvaginal scan.

EPU triage nurse was v funny about being off dick - 'you been having sex?' - when I said no too scared she said - 'poor man will be counting down the days til Christmas'. 😂

I got my 12w scan date at my booking appt, maybe they do it differently in my area.

TheScaredyKat · 05/12/2018 19:32

😂Also off dick, only done it once since the BFP. Just too tired all the time, also he's not been well either.

StargazyDrifter · 05/12/2018 19:35

Here's what my app (Glow Nurture) says the baby looks like today - you can sort of see the bumps on the ends of the arms and legs. That's what we saw. And the same boffin-like head.

StargazyDrifter · 05/12/2018 19:36

DTD-wise, I just feel so bloated too, still, it's hardly attractive.

AIDE2424 · 05/12/2018 19:41

@StargazyDrifter that’s amazing 😍 so lovely to see positive news on here!xx

AIDE2424 · 05/12/2018 19:42

Also off dick 😂 DTD twice since finding out OH is very understanding luckily xx

DrEv · 05/12/2018 19:59

Regina - agree third pregnancy and I’m a bit meh about it all. First one I was checking what the baby looked like / size etc. Now I just want to stop feeling nauseous!

Kentishgal · 05/12/2018 20:31

This is only my second but I'm still as excited to see how they're growing! Especially as I know I actually like children now - I wasn't entirely sure of that the first time!

I just dug out my pregnancy books from my first pregnancy - my husband came home from work the day after we found out we were pregnant and had bought me a serious pregnancy bible...I, on the other hand, had bought the rough guide one which is wrriten as a tongue in cheek pregnancy diary. Still prefer my one.

Buggles1 · 05/12/2018 20:42

@TheScaredyKat I’m one day behind you for the 12 week scan. Thought many times about going for a private one earlier but figured what will be will be. Fingers crossed for you and everyone one else with scans coming up. Is so nice to hear good news after all the terribly sad losses to date.

StargazyDrifter · 05/12/2018 20:45

Kentishgal I did quietly wonder on my way home whether I would actually like children, now that the baby is starting to look like one... 😂 Glad it's not just me!

Kentishgal · 05/12/2018 20:55

Stargazydrifter if I'm totally honest, I never actually liked children, then I hit 30 and got married and thought, well if I don't try now I might not be able to in a few years (and was worried who would look after me when I'm old and wrinkly). But I have done a total u-turn, I absolutely love kids now I've had one.

ReginaPhalange89 · 05/12/2018 21:20

Haha. I haven't gone off sex as such, I just haven't really felt the need and OH hasn't bothered trying 😂 I am kind of scared to though . But I am suddenly feeling in the mood again !
Haven't had sex since we conceived! Lol. And I'm 6+2 so.... It's been a while haha

Michelle0507 · 05/12/2018 21:34

What happens at your first MW appt ladies? I've never got this far before and whenever I ring they aren't very nice/helpful.
I'm 9+1 so was hoping for a scan before but can't see it.
Today I'm back on with constipation and bloated tummy and have breast pain again but it gives me all the positive vibes! :)
Can't wait for all the bottles of flavoured gin at Christmas that I can't drink, lol!

LittleChicken11 · 05/12/2018 21:40

Hi everyone,
First time posting, sorry it’s a long one! I’m 6+4 and had the BFP a week ago. My DP is not taking the news well, and won’t really discuss it. It was unplanned (actually took MAP) and not ideal timing but now that it has happened I’m happy, nervous, and hoping it sticks.
I’m not currently registered with a GP (relocated from London to Belfast recently) and won’t have a scan until 12-14 weeks by self-referral.
I haven’t told anyone else as my DP isn’t ready to, so can’t check with anyone if it’s normal to not see any healthcare professionals or have blood tests before 12-14 weeks. Surely I should see someone before then?
Oh and ‘off the dick’ is a hilarious typo Grin

Michelle0507 · 05/12/2018 21:55

@littlechicken11 I was told MW has to see you by 10w not sure if that is a national thing or just local.

Softkitty28 · 05/12/2018 22:18

@Stargazydrifter so reassuring to read your post and glad to hear all is well! Since we are date twins maybe my brown bleeding yesterday was my placenta doing the same thing? Praying that’s the case!

TheScaredyKat · 05/12/2018 22:49

Hi @littlechicken11 welcome and congratulations! I'm sure your DP will come around once he's gotten over the shock.
There were a couple of other ladies on here from Northern Ireland and they did say things work differently over there. I can't remember in what way, sorry that's not very helpful. I'm sure they'll pop up and say Hi at some point

StargazyDrifter · 05/12/2018 23:30

Welcome LittleChicken! While I've had a booking appointment a week or so ago, it was mainly admin so kind of limited in terms of medical attention. They did do a blood test and all came back normal, but I'm not sure that is essential if you're well.

Kentishgal that's really lovely to read about your u-turn and reassuring too! 😊

Softkitty the doctor definitely didn't think spotting for a few hours was enough to warrant concern and said to only come back if there was bleeding over several days at this stage. I'm sure that works for all date twins! 😉 The placenta thing in more detail was that, as it attaches to the uterus, it can be a bit clumsy and rupture some blood vessels sometimes. Basically brown blood not a worry. I take it you've not had more?

I ache all over today, particularly hip joints (walked about 30 mins home from the hospital) and also feeling very thirsty.

edidxb · 06/12/2018 05:24

Hi all. As probably expected I had my scan this morning and it didn't go well. Instead of 9 weeks I am still measuring 6 and a half. So that's a second missed miscarriage for me this year. I had prepared myself but still devastated. Hopefully I am the last sad story on the thread! I'm off to have surgery tomorrow as can't have it looming over me. Love to all and wish you happy successful pregnancies xxxx
