The old thread got closed at 1000 posts, I'm not sure why. So I've started this new one. I hope you all find it ok. @Swisbest2 @OneMoreWish @frankiefumbles @Kisses4u @hayleyfx @Maydot @Jessabean

@Kisses4u I'm glad your scan went well and still confirmed as a girl.

So scan went well, all healthy. Struggled to do all heart measurements for a bit. Had to jump up and down lol. But all done. And it's.......a boy!! So happy and excited!

Congratulations everyone with your healthy scans!! Great news 😊 Feels like we're all starting to come out the scarier part of this journey now!

@Pancakes7 on your little boy 💙 & @kisses4u with your little girl! 💕

@Pancakes7 went for the bugaboo Fox in the end - I didn't mind between Chameleon or Fox but OH wanted the fox as apparently the Chameleon had a crossbar at the back which would have annoyed him being tall whilst walking with it- 🤷‍♀️ I'm a short ass so wouldn't have bothered me!

xJune88 · 04/01/2019 16:24

Yay congratulations on healthy scans :) and a lovely boy and girl! @kisses4u @pancakes7 xx

Pancakes7 · 04/01/2019 16:38

Thanks @XJune88 and @Jessabean x

@pancakes7 yay for your scan and a lovely little boy! congratulations.
Fabulous scan photo. Mine is a fairly rubbish photo as my baby is rather awkward and refuses to lie in profile when we want to get a photo. Oh well!
I'm starting to be less sure about it being a boy than I was before.

@kisses4u congratulations on your scan and confirmation of a baby girl. This is all so exciting!

Today DH and I went to a couple of baby shops for the first time. We have found a pram we quite like. It's a Raffi. Not sure if anyone has seen those or has any thoughts? Will be a while before we buy anything but was a big step to go and have a look. A friend advised going to an independent store and must admit we found the experience there much better than M&Ps

On a less fun note, went out for dinner this evening and had thrown up the whole meal by the time I left the restaurant. Seems my morning sickness has evolved to evening sickness. Lovely.

xxx

Swisbest2 · 07/01/2019 13:31

Hey all hows everybody not been on for a while sorry oh had massive wobble so been all over the place. All good now and better than ever. MEN!! 😂

xJune88 · 07/01/2019 16:15

So tired today, first day back at work. Back aches and feel like a whale haha 18 weeks to go!! Starting to get excited now xx

Pancakes7 · 08/01/2019 07:13

@dreaminofholidays Aw, poor you being sick. Not fun. @Swisbest2 I hope your OH is ok now and you are too. @xJune88 Yeah I keep getting tired at work too. Early nights. But I seem to wake up for the loo, then I can't get back to sleep. DH snoring doesn't help. He had to go to the spareroom last night. 19 weeks to go for me. All very exiting.

I read through my scan report and baby is in the higher percentile for nearly everything. Including weight. I was 20 weeks and 4 days, but hope baby won't get too big! Lol

kisses4u · 08/01/2019 10:29

Hello all!
Oh dear @Swisbest2 hope he's ok? Was it to do with baby?
Oh god @dreaminofholidays you poor thing!!! I can't believe you were so sick! You sure it wasn't the food?! Seems a bit strange to be so sick suddenly? What did you eat?
Not heard of a raffi, worth trying everything out. I always buy second hand. Only because we don't have much money, but when you add up all the bits you'll buy along the way... jumoaroo, play mats, mobiles, sleepyheads... etc... you'll spend a small fortune if you buy new! I also borrowed a lot of stuff from mates. Makes so much more sense! Then you have more money to do activities and groups etc! I've sold all my stuff on, got what I paid for it, only sold it because we needed the space back, so I'll prob have to re-buy it all now! 😆
Started pregnancy yoga last night, and I'm hoping to start a hypno birthing group. Anyone else thinking of doing these?

Pancakes7 · 08/01/2019 11:57

@Kisses4u Good idea on second hand stuff. Facebook marketplace is really good. We got an almost brand new looking Snuz Pod (side sleeper cot) rrp £199, got it for £30! Also got baby changing unit with drawers an ikea one, rrp £140, got it for £35. Got a baby Bjorn baby carrier top with extra back support dh saw it for over £100, paid a tenner! We did buy pram new but saved £400 with JL sale plus mums discount. I can't afford to do groups really. We are signed up for NCT. So that's the important one. Thinking of doing pregnancy yoga on YouTube.

I'm having all my best friend and sister in laws old stuff :) only have to buy bedroom things and nappies/wipes. I'm starting to worry how big I'm going to end up.. people keep saying I'm huge for 22 weeks which is scaring me haha she has really popped out!! X

Pancakes7 · 08/01/2019 12:40

@xJune88 That's good. I'm getting some bits from my brother and sister in law. But unfortunately not clothes as their last baby was a girl. Although my SIL is going to find any neutral bits for us. They've saved a walker and other toys too. Aw I'm sure you're not that big. Every bump is different. I'm worried how big our boy is going to be with my report. But atleast he's healthy.

OP posts:
Swisbest2 · 08/01/2019 18:16

Hey all yes were better than ever now thankyou feeling a lot of movement now which is lovely 😊 scan 16th then will start getting few bits every payday eek!! Just been trting to figure out if well get any benefits once im on maternity as ill only get statutory but its sooo confusing 😑

Maydot · 08/01/2019 18:28

Hey everyone,

I’ve had a worrying week so far, gave my bump a nasty smack on a door handle on Sunday and it’s so sore and bruised and then baby was very quiet yesterday and I started worrying. But I’ve had my 28 wk midwife apt today the heart was beating away just fine and she’s been back to her normal lively self today so panic over!!

@jessabean, I got my new annual leave in January so if I’m struggling I can always have a week holiday before my mat leave starts. But I’m going to try and keep it all to add on to the end of my maternity leave 😝

@kisses4u so pleased your scan went well!
I was also thinking about looking in to Hypnobirthing but haven’t got as far as looking at classes yet.
We have booked a Stork walk at the maternity ward and birth centre though as my OH was panicking about what we need to do on the big day!!... And we’ve booked an NCT course mainly to meet some mummy and daddy friends!!

@Pancakes7 congrats on the scan!!... and a boy!! How exciting!!

We’ve decided on a bugaboo fox too, I’ve been wanting one for a while but OH has taken some convincing as they’re a little on the pricey side but he’s given in and we’re going for a proper look on Monday night after work!!
I’m also getting lots of 2nd hand bits from my sister and my friend, my friend had twin girls last April so the clothes should be kind of the right sizes for the seasons!!
We’ve also started decorating the babies room and ordered the nursery furniture, I feel quite organised which is not like me!!

kisses4u · 08/01/2019 20:40

Love my NCT gang! So glad to hear some of you will be doing it! Bloody expensive, but worth it! I still regularly see 4 of my NCT class (there were 6 couples) the kids have all grown up as close friends, which is lovely, and we all kept each other sane when the babes were newborn with our WhatsApp chat all hours of the day and night 😆 in fact we are having a big joint 3rd birthday for them this year! It's strange paying to do a class to make friends, but it was the main reason we all joined! And totally worth every penny! I'd be lost without my girls!
Well done on the purchases @Pancakes7 you are like me! Love a bargain!
We didn't find out what we were having with DS so I have the first 3 months neutral clothes to re-use! I'm so glad as I kept all my favourite things and can't wait to see new bubs in them! 😍
@Maydot poor you with the bump to your bump!!! You must have been worried sick!!! Bless you! They are quite well cushioned in there tho aren't they! Glad all is well and your are feeling better!

Jessabean · 09/01/2019 19:52

@Maydot sorry you've had all of that worry but so glad all is doing well despite the bump to bump! Good plan with the matty leave.
And snap with the bugaboo Fox! The stores keeping it in storage for us at the mo but can't wait till we pick it up!

@kisses4u good to know about the NCT classes! Got some booked for Feb- wasn't sure whether to do them in addition to nhs ones but decided to bit the bullet and book them the other week.

How's everyone else doing at the moment? Any more scans coming up still?

Pancakes7 · 10/01/2019 13:33

Anyone chosen their names yet? I have a favourite but DH has now said he isn't sure on it 😕 Gutted! So thinking of new names now. We have a shortlist but unsure. It's so difficult!

OP posts:
Jessabean · 10/01/2019 22:36

I know re names we had a shortlist and thought we had an agreed favourite on it only to find out over Christmas that we were both thinking of different names on the list! Chatting about it later though OH has now said he doesn't actually mind any on the list and likes the one I was thinking so think we've sorted it- going to wait until she's born now and see if it suits her first. I'm still a bit worried it's a bit out there though- was basically Josephine with Josie or Jo for short. Thinking of Harriet or Alice as a middle name. Is so hard to get balance between not too out there and being the 5th child called ex in nursery/class. Bit worried as well if will be a bit twee as well as both me and OH's names begin with J....as can probs be guessed from my username!
How are others doing on the name front?

Pancakes7 · 11/01/2019 05:50

@Jessabean Aw that's a lovely name. I'm also a Jo, but I'm Joanna. I'm starting to like 2 other names on our short list now. So 3 top names really. Me and my Mum went to the Aldi baby event yesterday. Got loads of good bits. I recommend popping in there if you have one near you.

OP posts:
kisses4u · 11/01/2019 11:05

Omg @Jessabean what are the chances!! Josephine is my fave at the mo too! With Josie as a nic name for short! How funny! It's really quite rare these days. Was very popular in the early 1900's and is now 170 most popular! I can't quite believe it when I read your post! Our other ones to consider are Neve (it's spelt funny in Irish so would spell it this way) and Órla. Boy names we like Patrick... I've gone a bit cold on the boy front now I know it's a girl, but still having to show enthusiasm all the same! 😆

dreaminofholidays · 11/01/2019 12:10

Wow! That's so bizarre you have the same front runner when it's not been as popular lately. I think its lovely. I'm a Laura and was one of 5 in my year (only about 60 kids) so would be nice to have a slightly different name for our little one.
We have short lists. Grace is really the only girl name, boys we like Jacob, Taylor and Lucas so far.

Random question, is anyone else feeling that they just can't do as much as before they were pregnant?
I thought 2nd trimester was meant to be the one you are full of energy but I feel have less energy than before. Also stuff like shopping, I really feel it when carrying bags of stuff xx

xJune88 · 11/01/2019 12:29

Yes @dreaminofholidays less energy now than I've ever had at 23 weeks how bizarre! Was up Wednesday night with leg cramps, up last night been sick. Not having fun at the moment but aslong as she is ok I don't mind haha. Just exhausted x

Jessabean · 11/01/2019 13:06

@kisses4u that's so weird! We've obviously just got good taste! 😉
Makes me feel kind of better actually as well as makes me feel like it's not too obscure as a choice! As you say though just love the sound of it and all the cute nickname options! And feel like it won't be too strange or old lady ish with all of the other 1900's names out there coming back into fashion too! Love Neve and Orla as well though- I wanted to put Neve on our list but OH vetoed as he is funny with name spellings but couldn't spell it the way he thinks it should be spelt! 🙈
Funny as well that we have a Jo in the group @Pancakes7!

@dreaminofholidays Lovely shortlist you have there too! Are you finding out gender or leaving as a surprise?
I was the same in second trimester particularly towards the beginning when my bump seemed to have the biggest growth spurt - felt shattered! Actually have more energy now entering third trimester but now feel I get breathless more easlily.

Pancakes7 · 11/01/2019 13:07

Aw how funny you have the same favourite names. I forget is anyone else having a boy? Our favourites now are Isaac, Lucas and Zachary. DH likes Isaac the most so will probably go with that. Unless another name pops up.

Yes @dreaminofholidays I get very tired and had a couple of bad nights sleep. Took a few days to recover. Back ache too. Also had the migraine/sickness. But overall I do feel better than 1st trimester.
