Due March 2008 - is it real?

Oh my. Have name changed as I feel like a wee bit of a muppet for coming here while a bit uncertain. Will change back when I know one way or t'other for sure.

Was lurking over a cafe buffet this morning with DS, utterly unable to decide what I wanted to have for lunch. Told myself I'd have the chips but that they would probably taste metallic. Remembered how last night all the food in the house was unappealing, except two corn on the cob (?!).

Penny then dropped, though our TTC last month consisted I thought of getting it on magnificently before and after fertile time. Whipped into Boots for a 1st response after figuring I am 3 days pre-AF. Just got a faint but-its-there positive. BBC website says due date is 1st March.

Anyone else yet? I will not tell dp until the line is brighter for point and show effect, so will probably re-test Friday am. I will be keeping my news, if this really is news, virtual apart from twlling him for as long as possible, as I'm older, my thyroid is knackered and my miscarriage and anomaly risks are high.

Other than that, I am having a little smile:

merryberry - not as exciting as yours, I worked in food safety for a well known retailer. Also used to work in a food testing lab. Unfortunately I have no chance of getting a decent job up here now so it's retraining for me after babies. I do wish I could work p/t 2 days a week but would need nursery care for two and am unskilled at anything else so it's SAHM-dom for me. Sorry that was a bit of a long answer.

Debi - sorry to hear about your BFN, which tests did you use?

sweetkitty · 29/06/2007 09:11

Morning ladies how are we all this morning? No symptoms yet for me AF due today half expect her to turn up I know it's mad.

Anyone else joining us yet???

siennammm · 29/06/2007 09:26

sweetkitty, i know what you mean, every time I get a twinge I am thinking, AF is on her way!!! but no symptoms as yet.........looked at my diary last night for molly and they started in about a week, so fingers crossed the sickness stays a way!! Hope everyone else is feeling okay today?? XXX

DebitheScot · 29/06/2007 11:43

I used a cheap one from Morrisons. Predictor I think it was called. Still no sign of af today and feel perfectly normal. But then I felt normal all through last pregnancy too and I don't really get pmt either (feel free to curse me for that!).
With ds I used a cheap test the day after af was due and got a positive.
Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see.

lissie · 29/06/2007 11:46

I've got nausea and a tender belly, also (sounds ridiculous i know) but i feel absolutely huge! When sitting down I've even had to undo my jeans!!!! Gonna do another test tomorrow just to make sure as i did the first one with a cheapy and have got docs appt next week. When will i be due, does anyone happen to know? Last period was 26th May. Ohh congratulations wfb! Being pg with the first kid is just a revelation, so interesting, so exciting, such a challenge.
The bloating is normal IME - apparently our digestive systems slow down in pg and get more efficient at extracting goodies from our diet. hence much of 1st trimester belly bloat.

Sorry I've not been around, a work task bit me on the arse and I've been busy every moment til today. Sweetkitty, it's a real change to career paths isn't, kids. What re-training ideas are you thinking about?

I'm sort of keeping my hand in by doing some contracting in information architecture for dp's company, but when I consider what to do when kid(s) are all at school I fret a bit. Because I will still want to do less than full time, and so many of the jobs of real interest in my field ask for full time (and them some) commitment. Well, we'll see. It seems to be all about talking to everyone all the time in all sorts of fields about working, maybe something new will come up around the time we're ready to take more work on.

merryberry · 30/06/2007 08:30

Now, a whole msg for this one! Siennammm, I watched the program (saw the last 40 minutes live, and then watched the start on tape last night). It's a great program - are you lady B with the long brunette bob, who said about hyperemesis being a reverse eating disorder?

How did you feel in the mass PG test? What a funny idea that was! I wish I had seen the first episode, and will watch the other two now I know about it. I love programs when you can follow people through an epxerience.

siennammm · 30/06/2007 10:14

hi there, yes it was me!! it was very embarrassing watching that because Andy got some stick over the fact that I hated his 'smell'... poor love but anyone who has had morning sickness will understand what I meant!!! there is a 75% chance that i will get hyperemesis again so fingers crossed that it wont happen this time, feeling a little queasy today but if this is it, then hallelulah!! just taking every day as it comes..... we didnt think we were pregnant so the mass pregnancy tests were okay for me but some people were hysterical, crying, screaming.... it was a horrible thing to do on live telly. Luckily we got our BFP the week after - I dont think we are on next week but you get to see our lovely daughter Molly at the end of episode 4 - horray... hope you are enjoying it!! XXX

siennammm · 30/06/2007 10:18

and yeah, does anyone else feel really bloated? i feel like i have been blown up with a balloon??? X

Rainbowdays · 30/06/2007 10:36

siennamum - yup, bloated, very bloated and extrememly bloated are the phases of each day for me now! I have already got out my maternity wear from the loft and washing it ready for use as I don't know how much longer I will be able to tolerate my current trousers! But I looked up my previous diaries and I was needing looser trousers at week 7 on 1st pg, and week 6 with last pg, so it seems I am only doing as before.

siennammm · 30/06/2007 11:53

really!! wow, thats amazing!!! and I thought it was just me!!! thanks for that, i better get mine down too!!!

sweetkitty · 30/06/2007 14:07

Afternoon all, wow siennammm I know someone on telly hyperemesis sounds totally vile I'll keep everything crossed for you not to get it this time.

merryberry - I'm hoping to do a PGDE in Primary Teaching it's about 3 years away yet so plenty of time to change my mind. I know what you mean I would love to do something part time too that was challenging and rewarding but wouldn't we all?

I go the opposite way in pregnancy, due to no interest in food and feeling rough I tend to lose a bit of weight first 3 months, DD1 needed maternity trousers at 18 weeks, DD2 24 weeks.

merryberry · 30/06/2007 14:21

v. brief, on way to bed. sweetkitty - i lose weight 1dt trimester due to all the calories saved from alcohol.

i thought the mass pg test was probably a bit much for some people. how many cameras did they have there for that anyway??

i had a sneaky peek at some mat clothes out shopping this am. i wish i knew what my shape will be in august when i've got a wedding to go to. the sales were amazing but i couldn't risk anything with so much potential for change. think i'll play safe, put the money aside and get a monsoon floaty number the w/e before the wedding.

lissie · 30/06/2007 14:27

hi, how is everyone this morning? im v bloated too. got a wedding in 2w and the lovely dress ive bought doesnt fit. arrrrgggghhhh

Rainbowdays · 30/06/2007 18:25

I am feeling a bit more lethargic today, or is it lazy, I can barely be bothered to do much other than come to read on the computer. Oh well, motivation might appear later. I had a bad day of feeling rough yesterday, but today feeling a little better, but I think that might be because I am snacking most of the day and doing little! My bloatedness gets much worse by evening. How is everyone else?

waiting4bambino · 30/06/2007 20:27

Well, i'm glad to hear that most of you are feeling bloated! I woke up at 4am this morning with nausea, and my mother thinks its way too soon and i'm imagining it! But why would i imagine that i feel sick?! Its not like i want to feel like this! I'm normally a size 10/12 but my jeans are already getting tight and digging in when i sit down, and i guess i'm only coming up to 6 weeks! I have an appt end of next week but did the second test this morning and it was a definite positive. So i guess its just a waiting game now...

Does anyone know if the docs take blood to test you, or do they trust wee now?! It's just that it takes over a week for blood results to come back in my docs and i hate waiting!

DH seemed really calm when i told him the test was positive, so calm that i thought he wasnt much interested!! But he has been checking out my book today and was amazed to discover that next week, the baby will be similar in size and looks to a seahorse! He looked further on in the book and wasnt too keen on the birth pictures!!! I've watched enough Baby Tales on the Living Channel to be familiar with it and the pain is not something i'm looking forward to!

Just as a strange question - has anyone got a dog that has been their only baby for years, and they now need to introduce a baby to it? I'm not sure how my jealous dog is gonna handle it!

merryberry · 30/06/2007 21:32

w4b, most just take your report of +ve wee test. their sensitivity (finding real bfp's) and specificity (not giving flase bfp's) are so very close to anything you can do in a lab, its a waste to test again.

lissie · 30/06/2007 21:37

W4B, our dog had been with us for 7y when ds was born and she used to lie with her nose on my belly, they adapt vv quickly.

siennammm · 30/06/2007 22:07

aw, so glad i dont have any animals to worry about (apart from my hubby LOL), i love them but i have lost too many in the past and couldnt go through it again, its too sad.... aw, you never think how hard it is for the poor dogs and cats do you, it must be strange for them and apparently they KNOW that you are pregnant - have they been acting differently???? XX

sweetkitty · 30/06/2007 22:50

evening all

waiting4bambino - I was like you first time around I phoned the doctors expecting to have to do a test and everything and they told me to come back after I had my 12 week scan. As it would have it I had to have scans at 9 and 10 weeks as I had some bleeding, DD1 was fine and we got to see her at 9 weeks and she had a face, that's when it sunk in. So I'll phone the GP's in about a month to tell them I'm pregnant then I think it's the 12 week dating scan and then a booking in appt with a MW when they take all your details and take blood for the first lot of tests. In answer to your other question I have 3 cats so they are a bit different to dogs, they didn't bat an eyelid when DD1 arrived other than they weren't allowed on our bed. Most of the time they sleep during the day upstairs so they and the DDs don't really come into contact. Don't know about dogs though.

I've had a lethargic day today as well, don't think we are imagining it at all.

Luckily my DDs were baptised 2 weeks ago and I had a lovely size 8 dress I had better pack it away now. Before you all hate me I was a size 12 before DD1 so I've had 2 children and dropped 2 dress sizes because I never sit down and I only eat when starving hungry. The best diet ever!
