Due March 2008 - is it real?

Oh my. Have name changed as I feel like a wee bit of a muppet for coming here while a bit uncertain. Will change back when I know one way or t'other for sure.

Was lurking over a cafe buffet this morning with DS, utterly unable to decide what I wanted to have for lunch. Told myself I'd have the chips but that they would probably taste metallic. Remembered how last night all the food in the house was unappealing, except two corn on the cob (?!).

Penny then dropped, though our TTC last month consisted I thought of getting it on magnificently before and after fertile time. Whipped into Boots for a 1st response after figuring I am 3 days pre-AF. Just got a faint but-its-there positive. BBC website says due date is 1st March.

Anyone else yet? I will not tell dp until the line is brighter for point and show effect, so will probably re-test Friday am. I will be keeping my news, if this really is news, virtual apart from twlling him for as long as possible, as I'm older, my thyroid is knackered and my miscarriage and anomaly risks are high.

Other than that, I am having a little smile:

Hello mumof! Congrats on the BFP! And yes, most of us have done multiple tests too!

Spugs, I'm crap at not telling people too. So far we've told my mum, DH's parents (who have probably told his whole family), 3 of my friends, my boss and one of my co-workers (the work people had to know for H&S reasons). So yes, it's gonna seem like I was pg forever to them too! The taste thing is nasty isn't it? Mints help.

WinkyGirl · 18/07/2007 20:00

Oh yeah, forgot to say:-

We have told my parents, 2 of my workmates, 1 of DH's workmates and 1 of my friends. So 6 in total. TBH I loved waiting until 12 weeks to tell people when I was pg with DD. It was like celebrating after the 12 week scan. (But I am crap at keeping secrets!)

And I work Mon-Weds so DD goes to a childminder 2 days and my Mum the other day.

beckyndanuk · 18/07/2007 20:23

Thanks for the support. No neither DS nor DD know about the baby. want to wait fot the scans and then show them the pictures. Just trying to work out how we squeeze all three plus toys and clothes etc into the space we have!
People at work know as I am an OT and have to carry equipment / move patients as part of my job and my back is beginning to niggle already (I had back problems with the other two) We have told both sets of parents and some close friends that are expecting too. We have sworn FIL to secracy as dh's cousin (Close family) lost her baby at 40 weeks about 5 months ago and we don't want her finding out by accident......

spugs · 18/07/2007 20:52

The only person i havent told is my 6 year old daughter, will wait till after scan for that. All my family know and everyone at the school where i work. oops

just been looking at some homebirth stuff and it does look fairly appealing, my dd2 was born 1 3/4 hrs after i got to hospital and i reckon i could have done it at home. My little sis is a trainee midwife and she thinks i should go for it but reckons my health authority hates them and normally manages to talk people out of it

piekin · 18/07/2007 21:12

I haven't told anyone yet apart from DP. He hasn't told anyone either. Guess we are both a bit paranoid about getting to the twelve week mark. I must admit I am dying to tell people tho! As DP n me don't live together n am not allowed to have babbies where I live, I haven't even told my house mates. Good job I have no symptoms. Not looking forward to having to move house . Also not sure about work coz I got a new job but doesn't start til september, and they will probably not be best pleased that I am pg...

merryberry · 18/07/2007 21:13

i HATE this bit: 21:12 and I'm going to bed, tired to my bones. I've done sweet FA really today. Roll on the 2nd trimester, and a bit more oomph.

piekin · 18/07/2007 21:15

I am very excited about being pg despite everything being a bit ridiculous in my life I am just being positive n hoping it will all work itself out .

piekin · 18/07/2007 21:16

merry, me too, knackered! off to bed as well!

sweetkitty · 18/07/2007 21:45

theres far too much to catch up on here

Had my "whats the point of this" GP appointment today. He confirmed due date and said he would book me in with MWs and for a scan. Told me to take folic acid and not to smoke! Then asked if I wanted a booklet (I said it's no3 so no thanks).

Homebirth - DD2 was a planned homebirth 2h30mins from first ouch that was a sore BH until she was out. MWs said it was only that long as my waters didn't go and they had to break them or it would have been under an hour. Homebirths are fab but only if you are low risk. I howled the place down but DD1 slept all the way through too.

I'm taking the sanatogen multivits too I think I've been taking them for about 4 years now.

I'm a SAHM now nursery would have been too expensive for my 2 so I'm on a extended career break now. Mostly I love it and could never imagine anyone else looking after the DDs, DD1 starts nursery next month and I'm dreading it, she will so love it but I'll blub for a week.

Sorry about missing you off the list piekin.

Welcome to the newbies, it's getting so busy now.

big hellos to everyone else too xx

derah · 18/07/2007 22:14

Piekin - where on earth do you live that doesn't allow babies? Are you in halls at uni or something? Good luck with moving. Any plans yet? I guess your new job won't be too pleased but that's tough, itn't it. Will you be there long enough before baby arrives to get SMP?

Sweetkitty - I guess that I'll be a SAHM once this one arrives cos I can't afford nursery for 2 either. But I have got a couple of plans on the go for businesses from home so hopefully I'll be a WAHM.

I'm quite perky this evening but since I slept 3 hours this afternoon I guess that helps.

Right, guess I should go to bed anyway.....

HolidaysQueen · 19/07/2007 09:07

I haven't told anyone yet apart from DH. We're seeing my parents in about 10 days so will tell them then, and then his the week after, and will probs tell my two best friends - one is expecting her 2nd in Jan and the other has 3 already.

I'm quite nervous as I was once told by an irritating family planning woman (when trying NFP) that because my temp chart was all over the place it means I might not be producing the right hormones so might have problems holding on to a pregnancy in future. WTF??? That's not exactly a comforting thing to say to someone, esp when they've never even been pg! Of course, despite trying to dismiss her comments, they've stuck with me and now I'm worrying!

I really want more symptoms as it doesn't feel real yet - I fell asleep in the garden at about 6pm last night, and had slightly tender boobs yesterday but that's it! I'm almost even wanting morning sickness just so I know it's happening

Minnow1 · 19/07/2007 09:21

Hi everyone!

I am tentatively joining you here, had my BFP yesterday evening (baby No1) - still in shock!

I have had small amounts bleeding on and off all through this cycle so thought there was no chance of getting pg! Have looked it up on internet and think it might be an erosion - has anyone else heard of this or had it?

Going to GP this morning to get it checked out, trying not to get too excited........

Congrats to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

piekin · 19/07/2007 09:22

I live in a lovely shared house but it is bound by individual room tenancy as only single person occupancy per room n you haved to move if you get a live in partner baby etc!. Yes it could be worse it could be halls, ( i've lived in halls n it's awful!). Anyway, am going to stay here until the 12 week marker and take it from there. Doubt I will get any maternity pay from new job, if so wouldn't be much anyway as part time. I know it all sounds like a nightmare but I couldn't go through with a termination, no way.

piekin · 19/07/2007 09:23

Hi Minnow, my sister had bleeding all the way through her ist pg but the baby was born full term and absolutely fine.

HolidaysQueen · 19/07/2007 10:45

Hi Minnow - my 1st too, and also still in shock! I'm not sure whether to get excited (keep daydreaming about what the baby will be like) or be worried about the next couple of months (I'm about 4 1/2 weeks so far so long way to go before safely out of first trimester).
Hope everything goes well for you at the drs today.

spugs · 19/07/2007 12:32

Minnow - i had bleeding mid way through my cycle this mth and i think it was ovulation, apparently it means your highly super duper fertile

skidoodle · 19/07/2007 12:47

Hi everyone

I'm not sure I even believe I'm pg anymore. Since I found out and saw the doctor there doesn't seem to be anything in particular to DO ifykwim, so it has started to seem unreal.

the main symptom I have is tiredness. I'm generally tired, but then some days (like yesterday) I'm so tired I can barely function. I feel like I could stay in bed all day.

Right now I'm having a very quiet time at work, so I've been going in late and not stressed while I'm there, but in a couple of weeks things are going to get very busy and if I'm still feeling like this I have no idea how I'm going to cope.

are there any things you can do/eat to improve energy levels?

pipsqueeke · 19/07/2007 13:53

hi everyone god you're all so chatty! lol. will catch up tonigth once DS is a bed. (think he's just woken up)

derah · 19/07/2007 13:59

Hey ladies

Another day off today - hoorah! Free days off work are great! Went for a long walk with the dogs this morning, then took DD to toddler group and met up with some ladies from my ante-natal class. Got home, DD played in the garden, then we had lunch and now she's in bed. So much more fun than working! I think I'll enjoy being a SAHM when the new baby arrives!

Sorry Skidoodle, not much you can do about the tiredness but cope the best you can and then collapse when you get home!

merryberry · 19/07/2007 14:05

skidoodle, there really isn't an easy answer except off to bed straight after dinner, sleep as much as poss at the weekends and fingers crossed that you are in the happy majority where we get positively energiser bunny after 12-14 weeks!

oh yes, and eat your lunch while you are working at your desk and then get ANYWHERE quiet for a power nap for your actual break. I've nodded off perched on a loo, curled up on a dry shower floor, sparked out ona city bench. i even rode a circular bus route one lunch time to be able to sit with eyes closed. Had no shame!

Minnow1 · 19/07/2007 14:39

Update - Dr examined me and ruled out an erosion, has referred me to the EPAC at local hospital for 8am tomorrow.

Not looking v hopeful, but you never know....

Thanks for the positive vibes x

c4it · 19/07/2007 15:02

Congrats and welcome to all the newbies! Re Homebirth - I tried with DD and had a v positive experience. Ended up going into hospital in the end because of slow progress and decided I wanted an epidural. But having sole care from 2 midwives is soooo much better than the care I got in hospital.

Am even more determined to have a home birth this time.

skidoodle · 19/07/2007 15:02

derah, merryberry, thanks for the advice. I'm a bit of a nightowl, so perhaps I'm staying up too late.

LOL @ merryberry sleeping on the circular bus route - genius!

will try those napping ideas. it's around lunchtime when I really feel the need for a bit of shut eye.

Minnow, hope it's OK tomorrow, sending you more positive vibes.

DontlookatmeImshy · 19/07/2007 15:17

Wow you've all been busy chatting. We'll be starting a new thread soon at this rate Too much to catch up on.

Minnow - gingers crossed for you that everything is ok.

Congratulations and welcome to all the new BFP's.

Fortunately the early morning insomnia has stopped now. I'm also having to sleep at lunchtime while ds has his nap too. I keep having fleeting waves of queasyness but tbh it just feels like I'm hungry rather than feeling sick.

I keep checking my tummy so see if it's expanding but nothing to see yet. A friend was showing massively by the time she was 6 weeks, so feeling a bit envious. Am I mad?

Going to a family wedding on Saturday. Most people are staying overnight but we don't live so far away so have decided to come home with the excuse that it's easier to get ds to settle at night at home so I can't drink as I will be driving. Hopefully a bit more convincing than the 'antibiotics' excuse

littleducks · 19/07/2007 15:33
