Due March 2008 - is it real?

Oh my. Have name changed as I feel like a wee bit of a muppet for coming here while a bit uncertain. Will change back when I know one way or t'other for sure.

Was lurking over a cafe buffet this morning with DS, utterly unable to decide what I wanted to have for lunch. Told myself I'd have the chips but that they would probably taste metallic. Remembered how last night all the food in the house was unappealing, except two corn on the cob (?!).

Penny then dropped, though our TTC last month consisted I thought of getting it on magnificently before and after fertile time. Whipped into Boots for a 1st response after figuring I am 3 days pre-AF. Just got a faint but-its-there positive. BBC website says due date is 1st March.

Anyone else yet? I will not tell dp until the line is brighter for point and show effect, so will probably re-test Friday am. I will be keeping my news, if this really is news, virtual apart from twlling him for as long as possible, as I'm older, my thyroid is knackered and my miscarriage and anomaly risks are high.

Other than that, I am having a little smile:

Thanks Derah - went easy on the abs at my class just in case..or at least that's the excuse I gave myself for not really trying

Pipsqueeke - well your Dr didn't exactly help to narrow it down a bit, talk about hedging her bets!

Thanks for the info on nuchal scans 3madboys!

Hello Holidaysqueen - congratulations!

Have been feeling starving all day - just managed to demolish a pot (yes pot, not just a plate!) of veggie chilli - and still feel a bit peckish!! At this rate I'll look 9 mths pg at my 12 week scan!!

monthlymayhem · 17/07/2007 20:54

Derah, sorry to hear that, how horrible. She's obviously forgotten that old friends are always your very best, most loyal friends, worth keeping x

piekin · 17/07/2007 20:59

look after yourself derah,xx. Off for supper now.

sweetkitty · 17/07/2007 21:05

hiya all firstly welcome to all the newbies wonder how many more we will get this is getting too be a large list (maybe it was the damp June weather )

Nothing much to report here we went to our hometown today which is at the seaside and had a lovely day of warm weather which was great. Still feel totally unpregnant!

derah - so sorry to hear about your friend that's awful of her. Please feel free to have a moan on here it's what we are here for ((hugs))

pipsqueeke - why don't you just use M* as your nickname or are you in hidding still glad DS is better too

3madboys/derah/anyone else talking about nuchal fold scans - I had one on the NHS with DD1 they measure the fluid at the back of the babies neck and it gives you a risk of Downs, it has to be done between 11-13 weeks as someone said. With DD1 and my age I had a something like 1 in 250 chance of Downs, when they did the nuchal fold scan it went down to 1 in 600 odd the same as a 16 year old! I think if your odds go down to less than 100 to 1 they offer you an amnio. Up here they don't offer it, I think you only get one scan as well and they don't tell you the sex

I'll update the list I'm a bit bored tonight!

Wow, look how many of us there are now! Yay! Thanks for doing the list Sweetkitty!

Seeing the list has made me realise that quite a few people are missing though. Hope they're all OK.

Right, gotta make sandwiches and then off to bed. Hope the weather is OK tomorrow. I spent hours yesterday fitting a new child seat and front basket to my bike and I'll be gutted if I can't ride to work and try them out!

BTW, those of you who already have DCs - do any of you work? If so, part or full-time? Always interesting to know how people deal with work and kids. I work 3 days a week (Wed-Fri) and find that really is the ideal balance for me. I worked 4 days from when DD was 4 months up to March this year and that was just too much. It really helps that work has a nursery on site too.

lauzie · 17/07/2007 22:06

Derah~ Just wanted to say how awful your 'friend' is. I can't believe she would post that knowing that you could read it! Could you have perhaps misread? as something as long term as a god parent isn't taken lightly surely? Or perhaps she has written that to spare the (best friends) feelings maybe?

piekin · 17/07/2007 22:14

Oh. I'm missed off the list again.....

piekin · 17/07/2007 22:15

I could always change my name and come back again as someone else! Night everyone.

monthlymayhem · 17/07/2007 22:56

Hi Sweetkitty, noticed you live near Glasgow - me too. Will be going to the (now infamous!) RAH

skidoodle · 17/07/2007 23:25

welcome c4it, monthlymayhem, HolidaysQueen and beckyndanuk

it's really filling up around here. I guess soon we'll be up to people at the 30th or 31st March and then the April 08 thread will start! Will be weird not to be the newest thread on the board.

Some of you guys are first timers too - it's kind of daunting. I really can't even imagine what's ahead of me.

derah, try not to take what you read too personally. people use the internet (foolishly, admittedly) as a private conversation sometimes and what your friend said was obviously meant for a particular audience on that board and was not how she would have said the same thing to you. Being someone's second choice for godmother to their child still makes you pretty special to her. [if that's even the whole truth of the situation]

PinkMartini · 17/07/2007 23:35

Hello
I've been on the TTCno1 board and got my BFP yesterday.
Despite lurking on MN for a few months I realise I know nothing about what being pg entails from a doc/mw perspective - i.e. what to do next after the BFP.
I'm not sure I was expecting it to happen so soon but Dh and I both thrilled. I'm guessing there's a lot of waiting!
Have made appt at GPs for Friday.

Oh and for the stats
PinkMartini, due 21 March 08 (I think) , first, lives London.

Not sure what else to say really other than I don't really have any symptoms yet but it is very early days isn't it?

skidoodle · 17/07/2007 23:54

congrats PinkMartini and welcome

I recognise what you're describing - that's pretty much how I feel too. Like you say, it seems there's some waiting to do for now until it all really gets going.

derah · 18/07/2007 04:48

Morning ladies

Well, it's 4:30am and I've been awake since DD had a little cry and moan at 4:00. She's happily back to sleep but it seems that I'm now up for today. I was just lying in bed with the whole thing with my friend going around in my head. I know she probably would be upset if she knew I'd read it, and certainly wouldn't expect me to be hanging about on her birth board! I think it's just a final confirmation of what I've known inside for a long time but was just in denial. She has lots of friends, I really just have her, so perhaps I place an unfair burden on the friendship and expect too much from it. I know I must still count for something even if I was second choice to be godparent. It's just that whenever something good or bad happens, she's always the first person I think of to turn to, she really is the most important person in the world after my family. But she never tells me anything. She had 2 miscarriages before dd, but never even told me she was pregnant and didn't say anything until months later. And she didn't tell me she was pg this time until after her 12 week scan. I guess I should have realised that I'm just not the person she turns to when she needs to talk. I thought she was just a really private person and didn't like to talk about stuff. Now I realise she just didn't want to talk to me. I just feel like a real fool for thinking I'm more important to her than I am. It's a huge blow and it's going to take me some time to work out how to re-adjust how she fits into my life, without letting her know what's changed. Looking back I guess it's always been that way.... when we were in our early 20's and we'd go out partying, we took it in turns to be the designated driver, but when it was her turn she always ended up getting pissed anyway and I've have to stop drinking and drive us home. Plus she'd regularly hook up with some guy and disappear to snog him and leave me in the pub alone for hours on end (I was fat and rarely hooked up with anyone). Come to think about it, why do I care so much when she's been such a selfish moo for so long!?!?!

Anyway, enough rambling from me. I'm going to do a new improved list to add poor Piekin (we didn't mean it, really!) and PinkMartini.

spugs · 18/07/2007 09:20

there are loads of us arent there! Lets hope were still all on here in 7/8 mths time
I reckon ive done about 8 tests but only as im stressing about how dark my line is! (its still not dark enougth in my opinion) With all my other children i only ever did 2, one when i got my bfp then another a few days later to check i wasnt imagining things.

Hows everyone feeling? My sciaticas acting up already, it did with my last pregnancy so i guess its going to go downhill. Feel a bit rough and hungry but am wondering if its all in my head or not. I didnt have any ms with dd1 and had a bit with dd2, find it quite reasuring to chuck up

piekin · 18/07/2007 10:02

thanks derah for adding me to the list, it must be a nightmare doing that thing now it's got so big! Are we in for a march baby boom I wonder!Have a good day everyone.xx P.S going to try and get a g.p appt today, that will be like extracting teeth from a tiger methinks, (my borough is a bit rubbish!). Oh re. hospitals, a freind had a water birth at St Thoms. Anyone else had a good experience there?

piekin · 18/07/2007 10:04

spugs, I still think what the others said - a line is a line! You are in danger of developing a new OCD for pg testing . P.s you are on the list too .

c4it · 18/07/2007 10:08

Morning all - I can't believe how many of us ther are!

Derah - don't worry about your "friend" - its not worth it. I work full time but have fab DP who is WAHD! DD 1 is 19 Months and seems to be working really well. I don't know what I would do if we both worked full time and were trying to juggle work, nursery, chores etc. Nightmare! Trying to get MW app at local surgery - v difficult. For some reason best known to them they referred me to the on call MWs!! What's that all about?

piekin · 18/07/2007 10:10

derah, ( can't seem to log out as always thinking of more things to say but I am going, honest!), was thinking, there is absolutely nothing wrong with looking up your freinds birth board, pg being something that you are both going through, and if you had a board you would expect your freinds to look it up from time to time if they were concerned about you? I think it is a bit dangerous on the net and email ect sometimes coz you can write things without thinking that the world will see them, lost in your own little anon.rant so to speak. I was trying to think what I would do if I was in your position. I think I would have to address it ( my own feelings of dissapointment no blame on her)but say that I was still really touched and honoured to be the G.parent. Anyway thats what I would do, but am well impressed by your self- honesty about the freindhsip etc.xxx

pipsqueeke · 18/07/2007 11:41

derah - I had a friend like that once- needless to say now she's an aquaintance, i've come to the conclusion that unfortunatly thru no fault of our own we do drift apart form our friends - even those we're closet to. tbh she doesn't sound like an ungateful mare. re the m/c's thing after two pre DS i can fully understand her waiting until 12 weeks before telling people she was PG again, the first time only my then BF and mum/dad knew the second only DH both time's it was something I wanted to deal with in private. so please don't take offense with that bit. but I do think perhaps she is a tad selfish. do you go to any P&T groups/know many other mums? maybe you could arrange play dates?

MM- no I know! lol. but wiith DS I was 100% on all dates - incl when we had sex etc and they put me due at the 3rd march even thou I know for a fact he was due the 11th march, anyhow he came on the 23rd feb so tbh I don't pay too much atttention to it as to me it seems to be a rough guide iycwim.

kitty - still hiding! lol - this one's a sticker promise beside's we're calling the baby pip, DS was beanie and this one's pip.

congrats PM - I saw your other thread, and posted

anyhow i'm back off to ogle david tennant on you tube

potionsmakemummyclever · 18/07/2007 11:46

Hi everyone,

Wow, the list is really coming on isn't? Congrats to all the new posters .
Hugs to Derah - hope that you are ok and can sort this out with your friend. You can come and vent on here anytime.

Well, I've just surfaced from a weekend of night duty and feel pretty ok this morning, just a bit of nausea early doors.
Just one more shift to work, then I become a SAHM. I'm counting on you guys to help to keep me sane

pipsqueeke · 18/07/2007 12:02

course we will potion - I went back to work for about 5 weeks last month and liked the independance but hated having work and that was about it to do much prefer being at home with DS

potionsmakemummyclever · 18/07/2007 12:19

Thanks pips, though you don't know just how loopy I am already .

Hormones seem to be getting the best of me at the mo. Blubbed my eyes out at the CBeebies bedtime story last night . Well, it was "Guess how much I love you", so maybe it's understandable

derah · 18/07/2007 13:59

Soooooo tired after getting up at 4am today! Luckily we got sent home from work cos there's no power (and probably won't be tomorrow either, yay!!) so as soon as DD finishes her lunch, we're both off upstairs for a nap! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
