For what it’s worth (I’ve posted this on another thread) I know of several people who have been referred for growth scans.. and whatever they’ve advised has never come true when it came to the actual birth weight!

I don’t really hold any faith in them going by experience..

Yakadee · 13/11/2018 17:24

@Lulabell1 - how're you getting on? X

AliceRR · 13/11/2018 17:27

So house purchase is under way. We probably won’t have moved by Christmas, although I haven’t completely given up hope, but I do wonder how that will work. Baby is due 10 Feb and could come early obviously. Seems likely we would move around mid / end Jan when I will either be heavily pregnant or have already had baby!

Any advice welcome

I think the main thing is trying not to get stressed about it

Lulabell1 · 13/11/2018 17:58

Hi ladies had my scan and im home with antibiotics for my chest signed off work too! Baby weighes 3lb 6oz so even tho thats above average he isnt massive but they will gove me another at 30/36 weeks! X

Yakadee · 13/11/2018 17:59

@Lulabell1 - that's great news. Hope you feel better soon x

Squashbanana1 · 13/11/2018 18:01

@AliceRR we are in a similar boat, house purchase underway and will probably coincide with baby's due date! But I've said to myself it is what is it and we'll make do so and not to be stressed about it, you will have a lovely home for you and baby afterwards and we shall get through it! 👍🏼

AliceRR · 13/11/2018 18:44

@Squashbanana1 I think that’s the right attitude. If focus too much on dates that’s when it’s more likely to extra stressful and we can plan everything

On the plus side I could be on mat leave by the time we move which might make things easier

Squashbanana1 · 13/11/2018 18:51

@AliceRR yes exactly 👍🏼 more time to think about organisation! Good luck!

AliceRR · 13/11/2018 18:54

Thanks @Squashbanana1 you too!

Notquiteagandt · 13/11/2018 19:16

@Lulabell1 Take it easy Flowers chest infections are nasty at best of times.

As for growth scans I am just seeing mine as getting to see more of the baby so thats not a bad thing.

I have my first growth scan next week. Did you have it with a sonogrammer or a consultant midwife ? Just curious. I had my early scans with just a sonogrammer but a mw did the main ones. Know my 32w one is with fetal medicine though.

twiglet · 13/11/2018 19:42

Had my 28 week appointment today including my anti D injection (I'm O- DH is O+). So happy my midwife offered arm, top of bum cheek or thigh it was quite a stingy injection definitely glad I went for bum cheek!

Had keratins show up quite strongly hoping it's nothing midwife did say to have a slice of toast before bed as if I don't eat enough at the moment.... ConfusedBlush

Lookingforadvice123 · 13/11/2018 19:55

maxiflump I can't believe you're finishing so soon that sounds nuts!!! I'm not finishing until 30th January when I'm 37 weeks although as I'll be taking 2 weeks' leave at Christmas it's only actually 9 weeks really.

I'll be going back the first working day of January 2020. Is that really hideous? I hate going back to work after Christmas as it is as I always have a lovely long break (usually 3 weeks!) but I just don't see the point in going back for a couple of days before my Christmas leave...

Lookingforadvice123 · 13/11/2018 20:30

I meant to ask a question and completely forgot! Baby brain.

Those who've used co sleeping cribs before, is there any chance of your own bedding accidentally going on the baby? The thought occurred to me and now I'm wondering whether to use the co-sleeping option (if it matches up with the bed, anyway)...

AliceRR · 13/11/2018 20:34

On the subject of baby brain I walked all the way to the Post Office from work at lunchtime (at least 10 min walk) and realised at the counter that I hadn’t brought the things I needed to post! Had to walk all the way back to work to get it and then go back to the Post Office...

Baby160P · 13/11/2018 20:55

@Lulabell1 glad all is ok

I have my midwife app tomorrow.

Just out of curiosity. IF baby is big.... what do they do?

OH male Genes are all 10lb+ and we're having a boy so I'm half expecting a big bubba!

Yakadee · 13/11/2018 20:58

@Baby160P - I had my 28 week appointment today and baby was just above the top line (measurement was 29) so assume that's just over 100th centile?

Midwife told me it's nothing to worry about so long as baby follows the growth line x

emalady · 13/11/2018 21:09

@yakadee top line is normally 99.7th centile I think so about 3/1000 are that size or bigger.
@baby160p if the baby is very big you may have to have a glucose tolerance test even if you otherwise wouldn't need one and sometimes they induce early as a very big baby is more likely to get stuck.

Yakadee · 13/11/2018 21:14

Thanks @emalady - didn't know that x

Baby160P · 13/11/2018 21:23

@emalady thank you. Luckily I had the glucose tolerance test all clear so hopefully baby will be average!

Since2016 · 13/11/2018 21:25

I had growth scans in my last pregnancy and anticipate another in this one at 32 weeks. They forecast 8-8.5 pounds. DD was 9.11 😂 as @emalady says they may induce early but no one I know was induced for big babies irrespective of the size of the mother. Also for FTMs - I only know one person (prem baby) who was early everyone who was pregnant same time as me last time was late!

Since2016 · 13/11/2018 21:27

Oh and re bedding - no - never an issue with co-sleeping crib. It never encroached - not sure how it could tbh unless you have lots of loose additional blankets as well as a duvet? I just used to tuck it under my side just in case.

Welshshepherdess · 13/11/2018 22:55

Help!
Dilemma- for you all, we picked a name Grin however it has come to light that the middle name we chose is mother in laws Angry I liked the name but I’m furious that other half forgot mother in laws middle name, if I knew I wouldn’t of picked it. DH has told his mum the name and she loves it! (No surprise there) Am I a selfish cow for wanting to change a name just cos it is also mother in laws?

Camsie30 · 13/11/2018 23:02

@Lookingforadvice123 I had a snuzpod with my daughter, will use again this time, never had a problem with bedding. It was by far one of my best bits of baby kit x

lanalawr · 13/11/2018 23:12

@Lookingforadvice123 in theory I suppose so. I was worried about it with dd so slept further down the bed. I kept my head level with hers so my duvet started level with her legs and tucked it under me to try to keep it away from her.

fizzledays · 14/11/2018 07:29

@AliceRR just get as much help as you can, get the movers to do all the packing and unpacking, get cleaners in to clean the place before you unpack, and label certain boxes as priority to unpack.
My DH worked in removals for 15 months or so and our move was so so easy because of everything he learnt. Label every box for every room - it's amazing the difference it makes!
