Just because I think we’re getting close to filling the first one. Pull up a pew, bring your decaf tea and all of the carbs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Brainfried1986 · 14/11/2018 20:52

BettySwoll0cks Yes, my ds is 15 months and still bf twice a day.

I’m feeling permenantly dodgy at the moment - finding it really hard to work out what food I want to eat as I am put off a lot of stuff. Eating weirdly as a result (had a pot of custard by itself this afternoon...) and still getting these weird after tastes when I drink as if there’s single cream lining my throat. I just can’t believe how different this time is to last time; I didn’t even find out I was pregnant until 7 weeks with ds and this time I’m queasy, bloated, exhausted and have cravings/aversions and I’m only at 6+4!

Have to say I’m not really enjoying pregnancy right now and hoping things improve by the end of first trimester or I’m gonna be so grumpy...

Laburna · 14/11/2018 20:54

Realistically is there anything the Dr/MW can do to help with morning sickness where it's constant nausea that's preventing me from eating, or is it only possible if there's vomiting?

I'm finding it almost impossible to eat because I feel so sick and eating doesn't make it any better when I manage, just more nausea. I'm so tired because I'm waking in the night feeling sick, and can't find anything that relieves it so I can go back to sleep.

BettySwoll0cks · 14/11/2018 21:02

@Brainfried1986 that's good to know. My DS is 2.5yrs and still feeding morning & bedtime, I kind of feel as though weaning will have to come from him at this stage but I'm wondering what pregnancy will do to my supply etc

Laburna · 14/11/2018 21:08

@BettySwoll0cks I have a few friends who are in your position, a couple found their supply dried up at 12/14 weeks and then returned about 22 as colostrum. The milk got salty apparently. Some are now tandem feeding, a couple found the toddler self-weened between the drying up and the taste change!

BettySwoll0cks · 14/11/2018 21:20

Thanks Laburna. One of DS's favourite words is 's'gusting' so perhaps Mummy's milk will go out of fashion soon! That would simplify things, tbh.

edidxb · 15/11/2018 02:11

Morning all,
My nausea seems to have gone again which is odd, so of course, hoping that it is just one of those things and trying not to worry.
Had quite a lot of pain yesterday - low level cramps most of the day, and very far down. I have of course googled and cramps are normal at this stage - about 6+4 today but worrying nonetheless. Will see how they go today.
Also had a terrible day at work yesterday. It would have been bad regardless of anything, but I burst into tears after a meeting in front of two other male colleagues. I never cry at work and I don't have a lot of time for people who do and I was properly sobbing crying. Terrible stuff.........urgggh, not looking forward to today.
And then I dreamt that I lost my dog last night and she had been stolen. Which was also horrible.
So I am feeling really miserable and sad this morning.

Brilliant news for all the positive scans I have just read about though. Good news also makes me feel better

x

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 15/11/2018 03:02

@BettySwoll0cks I’m still breastfeeding DD who is 2. I was thinking of doing natural term weaning but since being pregnant it’s been absolutely awful. Whenever she latches it’s literally like razor blades across my nipples it’s horrible so i’ve been cutting down massively. I’ve stopped the before bedtime feed which makes me feel really mean as it was our way of reconnecting after a long day at nursery/ work ☹️ Midwife said milk dries up at 4/5 months so hopefully that stops her.

Congratulations @itsallgreek i’m so pleased that everything looks good after all that worry

Good luck for your scan today @Delilah7

@Laburna I think i’ve heard others say good things about being prescribed Cyclizine for help with nausea?

edidbx emotions definitely running high here too. I was walking to work last week and saw a homeless man run out of sainsburys having just stolen some food. As soon as he got outside he stopped took it out the bag and just absolutely devoured it right there outside the store. The look of absolute desperation and hunger in his eyes made me so sad I burst out crying. I looked like a right wally in the middle of central london but I blame the pregnancy hormones!

It’s 3am i’m lying in bed wide awake dreaming of a sausage sandwich. I’m totally getting one for breakfast 🐷🐷

TwittleBee · 15/11/2018 05:53

Morning everyone. Not holding out for a good day, can't keep anything down. Already been sick 3 times. Poor DS is so worried about me too.

Laburna there are tablets but idk why but my DR always been reluctant to hand them out. Probably because he has a "just try without medication, it's better for the baby" mantra. Might talk to MW about it this time though

Laburna · 15/11/2018 06:23

@edidxb my cramps definitely peaked last week (week 6 for me) so far this week it's been very mild and mostly related to when I've moved to quickly - mostly jumping up to stop DS trying a kamikaze move!

Thanks for the info on the medication, am seeing my MW tomorrow so will see what she says.

I actually managed to sleep last night, 10-5:20 which while isn't massive, has made me feel much more human! Better still, I woke up to find DH has done 3 loads of washing, so I only have nappies and towels left to do!

Congrats to everyone having good news at scans and stuff, I've not really caught up from yesterday yet, this place moves so fast!

ratherbeshowjumping · 15/11/2018 07:18

Congrats to everyone with the scans & dates coming through.

We are off to Bristol today - dreading a 3.5hr car journey as I literally need the loo every half an hour. DH has promised to buy me a McDonald's for breakfast so has cheered me up a little.

Another one having strange dreams - had a really vivid one about one of my horses being sold & abused 😢 woke up sobbing about 3am and went to check he was ok in his stable.

How's everyone feeling today?

Twistering · 15/11/2018 07:46

@itsallgreeek - wonderful news!! Grin
@TwittleBee @Edidxb and whoever else is feeling shit, hope you get through ok

I’ve woken up with a really sore throat out of nowhere and we’re going to London in a bit (from East Mids) to go to a gig tonight so going through have to watch everyone get hammered. Joy.

Good luck today @Delilah7

Toria73 · 15/11/2018 07:50

Well in dreamland last night my nephew gave me a giraffe for Xmas, apparently if I couldn’t keep that alive & well then a baby would have no chance...

itsallgreek · 15/11/2018 08:02

Morning all.... Thank you all!!!! So far my symptoms have been quite non existent... Only sore boobs and some lower back pain. But the main thing is the tiredness... I'm sleepy like 80% of the day and wish I could stay in bed all day. 8 hour office days don't help either

Laburna · 15/11/2018 08:11

@itsallgreek I think I managed about 45 minutes of being awake this morning before I had an overwhelming urge to have a nap! It's ridiculous!

Twistering · 15/11/2018 08:20

@Toria73 so random!! Because obviously, giraffes are a doddle to look after...!

Frazzlerock · 15/11/2018 08:25

Good morning all,

Well I'm irrationally envious of your symptoms, despite your struggles (sorry not very compassionate Grin). Please pass some onto me!

I have nothing to add about BFing a toddler while pregnant as 1. I don't have a toddler and 2. I don't produce much milk. I hope you find the answers!

@itsallgreek lovely news about the scan! And another one who saw/heard the heartbeat so early! You must be thrilled Grin

Funny dreams you lot are having Grin I was having quite lucid crazy dreams but they seem to have tailed off now.

Well I am finished. The gig was awesome last night but becuase we live so far away we didn't get through the door until just before midnight so I've only had 5 hours sleep as me alarm goes off at 5:30. I'm sat at my desk in the office wondering how on earth I will get through the day. I think I will leave after lunch and WFH the rest of the day. My team know I am pregnant and they also know I have to be super cautious because of our losses so I'm lucky in that I can go home if I need to.

Guys, my tummy is massive. I know it is bloating but it is just on my tummy. I took a photo last night as I was sitting on a stool at the bar . I will upload it in a sec. Why am I so big already!? I've got barely any symptoms and baby didn't even have a heartbeat last week but here I am looking about 20 weeks pregnant....

Frazzlerock · 15/11/2018 08:27

I took this from above and spun it around so this is what someone else would see looking at me...

Frazzlerock · 15/11/2018 08:27

Do you think I should get checked out? Maybe carrying excess fluid or something?

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 15/11/2018 08:37

@Frazzlerock that does seem like quite a large bump for this stage. Have you changed your diet in any way? Maybe eating more bread/ pasta that could cause bloating?

xine15 · 15/11/2018 08:42

So I've had a bit of a scary night. Had shoulder pain yesterday and faintness (put it down to normal pregnancy stuff but was the first bout) so rang the doctors mainly about the shoulder pain as I know what it could be. Doc wanted me to come in, other doc was just going to check my bloods then decided to phone the mat unit they said to come into the hospital (a and e as their clinic closed 10mins before). They kept me in (all these people said I don't think it's anything, but just in case!). So now I've got an early scan in an hr to find out for sure! Stressful time, not how I would have chosen to do it but good to get a scan as I've been worrying so much and hopefully bubba will be all tucked up in the right place! Fingers, toes, legs arms and any other available body parts crossed.

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 15/11/2018 08:42

and @Frazzlerock I wouldn't worry about the heartbeat thing. It may just be that your sonographer wasn't experienced enough or his equipment wasn't good enough to spot
a heartbeat at such an early stage. Was it a groupon scan you had? The quality really does vary

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 15/11/2018 08:44

Yikes @xine15 hope it turns out to be nothing serious and baby is ok!

Frazzlerock · 15/11/2018 08:50

Oh @xine15 I hope you are okay and baby is nestled snuggly in a safe place. Please let us know how you go, I am pleased they are monitoring you.

@allthegoodnamesalreadytaken not hugely differnet, I have been eating Fruit and Fibre for breakfast instead of my usual oats. But actually, now I think about it, before I found out I was pregnant I spent a few weeks cutting right down on gluten, sugar and dairy to fight my PCOS and get pregnant (it worked obvs). Maybe my body is rebelling against eating normally again... ?
I can't fit in any of my jeans without my bump band and I'm embarrassed to tell people that I am only 7 weeks pregnant! I have just been saying "well this is my fifth pregnancy so..."

Yeah it was a Groupon scan but reviews were really good, not one bad review. Our scan on Tuesday will be an NHS one

Laburna · 15/11/2018 09:20

@frazzlerock it might be worth a quick call to the MW, but it is actually common to swell in the first trimester. I've definitely bloated up since starting cyclogest and if you've also restarted eating glutton and sugar that can have a big impact on the mid-section. I've relented and started wearing stretchy waist trousers today. Its just getting so uncomfortable!

@xine15 fingers crossed it's all ok, hopefully it'll just be the drs being over cautious, and it'll just be an early peek at the little bean!

Laburna · 15/11/2018 09:29

Oh and I have to agree with @allthegoodnamesalreadytaken about the scan. Heartbeats are known to be picked up on an US from 6 weeks but they don't necessarily start then, some aren't picked up until 7 or 8 weeks.

The article I read suggests that there are loads of reasons why a heartbeat might be picked up earlier or later including: the size of the mother, position of the uterus, the location of the baby, and the technology in the US machine. It maybe as simple as your baby being in a slightly deeper position in you uterus than @itsallgreek is, or even that the machine they used has a very slightly different sensitivity.

Please try not to worry too much about it, I know that's hard
